History
 In June 2010, Reliance Industries (RIL) bought a 96% stake in Infotel Broadband
Services Limited (IBSL) for RS:4,800cr.
 Although unlisted, ISBL was the only firm to win broadband spectrum in all 22 zones in
India in the 4G auction that took place earlier that year.
 Later continuing as RIL’s telecome subsidiary, Infotel Broadband Services Limited was
renamed as Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) in January 2013.
 In June 2015, Jio announced that it will start its operations all over the country by the end
of 2015.
 At the beginning test stage,Jio was opened only for the employees of Reliance Industries.
 The company commercially launched its services on 5 september 2016.
 Within the first month of commercial operations, Jio announced that it had acquired 16
million subscribers.
 This is the fastest ramp-up by any mobile network operator anywhere in the world.

In May 2016, Jio launched a bundle of multimedia apps on Google Play as part of its
upcoming 4G services. While the apps are available to download for everyone, a user
will require a Jio SIM card to use them.
 MyJio - Manage Jio Account and Digital Services associated with it.
 JioTV - A live TV channel service.
 JioCinema - An online HD video library.
 JioChat - An instant messaging app.
 JioMusic - A music player.
 Jio4GVoice (earlier Jio Join) - A VoLTE phone simulator.
 JioMags - E-reader for magazines.
 JioXpressNews - A news and magazine aggregator
 JioSecurity - Security app.
 JioDrive - Cloud-based backup tool.
 JioMoney Wallet - An online payments/wallet app
LYF Smartphones
 In June 2015, Jio tied up with domestic handset maker intex to supply 4G
handsets enabled with voice over LTE (volte) feature. Through this, it plans to
offer 4G voice calling besides rolling out high speed internet services using a
fibre network, in addition to the 4G wireless network. However, in October
2015,Jio announced that it would be launching its own mobile handset brand
named LYF.
 On 25 January 2016, the company launched its LYF smartphone series starting
with water 1, through its chain of electronic retail outlets, reliance retail. Three
more handset models have been released so far, namely water 2, earth 1 and
flame 1.
JioNET Wi-Fi
 Prior to its pan-India launch of 4G data and telephony services, Jio has
started providing free Wi-Fi hotspot services in cities throughout India .
 Jio also provided Free Wi-Fi at Six Cricket Stadiums hosted ICC 2016
– T20 World Cup Matches.
JioFi Wi-Fi
 Jio also providing a portable Wi-Fi Hotspot & Router to Connect 10
Wi-Fi Devices and One on USB
 Sleek and light-weight device to keep you connected on-the-go.
4G Broadband
 The Company is Planning to launch 4G Broadband Services at
low cost.
 The company has a network of more than 250,000 km of fibre
optic cables in the country, over which it will be partnering with
local cable operators to get broader connectivity for its broadband
services.
 With its multi-service operator (MSO) licence, Jio will also serve
as a TV channel distributor and will offer television-on-demand
on its network.
 As of now, there is no proper tariff has been released from the
company about 4G Broadband Services.
Current Scenario
 Jio is currently with user base of 16 Million +.
 Jio is currently providing Free Services to all its customer’s until
December 31, 2016.
 Jio is offering Free Calls to any network throughout the country.
 Jio offering Free Roaming over the Country.
 Jio offering Free Service for iPhone7 until December 31, 2017.
ControversiesIssue with incumbents
 Jio has complained TRAI that other Mobile Network Companies airtel, Vodafone and
Idea are blocking the calls from Jio Network.
 So, On Sep 2016 a meeting was held by TRAI to discuss the problem with
representatives of Mobile Network Companies.
 After the Meeting with TRAI & COAI all the Mobile Network companies are promised
to add additional Interconnect Ports for Jio.
 All other mobile Join together and sent a letter to PMO that Jio Free Service is making
a huge loss for our companies and they requested to take further steps.
Issues with Speed
 In October 2016 , Ookla , a reliable speed testing source revealed that Jio's speed in
several regions is encountering speed falling drastically.
 Ookla reports that the Jio's internet speed decreased 23% month-over-month from
11.31 Mbps to 8.77 Mbps, continuing a downward trend for 2016.
 This report came when Jio already had 15 Millions customers in short time.
Future plans
 As we earlier said Jio is facing the issue with Speed of Internet, So company is
mainly planned to focus on that issue and solve as soon as Possible.
 Jio also planned to enter into the Broadband Network to make a revolution on the
Wired Internet Connections.
 Jio is providing the Jio Services by Jio Apps and IT Team of Jio is developing a
new Apps that may need for Upcoming Generations.
 IT Team also focus on upgradation of current apps and adding new features.
 As of rumors Jio planned to Continue Free Voice Call Services on Future.
 Although 5G technology is ready but they have to work on his network
improvement so that voice call improved and get good user experience.

 Call Drop Issues.
 Unpredictable future plans.
 THREAT
 Increase user base may cost reduce in Speed.
 Other Competitors may reduce their tariff plans to compete with Jio.
 OPPOURTUNITES
 Jio is the First Indian Network to Offer Free 4G Services and it got reached everywhere.
 If Jio Continues the Same Tariff Plan for Few Years, it may become No. 1 network in India
Strategy
 Loss leading Strategy ( Market penetration Strategy)
It means sell the product in loss or in less price so that you can get the
large number of customer. As for Ex:- IF a item cost RS.100 and you sell
the product in RS.50 then you easily get the large number of customer.
 Cut our competitors
 Created monopoly market in saturated market and get (Competitive
Advantage & Sustainable advantage).
Only those producer get success who think about consumer not
about themselves.

 Growth Hacking Strategy :- Growth hacking algorithm revolved 5 stages i.e,
 Acquistion:- Jio acquired the big company like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Aircel towards themselves
 Activations:- And from acquistion they decided to take activations and use your product
 Retention:- They announced in December free packaging till 31st march 2017 which is known as
JIO “HAPPY NEW YEAR “ Offer Plan.
“ Reliance Jio is 1st Org. to give 6 month free Unlimited Data, Unlimited Calls & Unlimited
Roaming”

 Referral:-They gives more services so that people started to talks about your
product. So that your customer will be your promoter.
 Revenue:-After promoting your product you automatically collected revenue.
 Blue Ocean Strategy
 At 1st they don’t focused on colleting revenue
 They focused on maximizing their customer after making blue ocean of customer
they started collecting huge number of revenue which is known as Blue Ocean
Strategy.
 After these other’s competitors like Airtel, vodafone, idea, aircel etc. busy on
break even analysis to start new business but jio didn’t focuse on break even
analysis. They focused on:- Customer perception & Customer Behaviour
Analysis. Once you got the CP & CBA then you will get the business and then by
making sustainable advantage and recuring revenue model you will go forward .
Conclusion
In India, FREE is a not just word, it’s an Magic or Emotion to
Change the People’s mind and make them to fall on the particular
Product or Thing. Jio is following same tactics to reach people and
grow its network.
As we mentioned earlier, Jio is offering FREE Services until
December 31, 2016. But No one Knows what may going to happen
after December 31, 2016 as so the Tariff Plans are already
announced.
People are comfort with the Speed of 4G. It is tough for the
People to leave the Network. Mukesh Ambani understand the
feelings of the customer and make profit on our feeling and
emotions.

History  In June 2010, Reliance Industries (RIL) bought a 96% stake in Infotel Broadband Services Limited (IBSL) for RS:4,800cr.  Although unlisted, ISBL was the only firm to win broadband spectrum in all 22 zones in India in the 4G auction that took place earlier that year.  Later continuing as RIL’s telecome subsidiary, Infotel Broadband Services Limited was renamed as Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) in January 2013.  In June 2015, Jio announced that it will start its operations all over the country by the end of 2015.  At the beginning test stage,Jio was opened only for the employees of Reliance Industries.  The company commercially launched its services on 5 september 2016.  Within the first month of commercial operations, Jio announced that it had acquired 16 million subscribers.  This is the fastest ramp-up by any mobile network operator anywhere in the world.

  • 6. Jio Apps In May 2016, Jio launched a bundle of multimedia apps on Google Play as part of its upcoming 4G services. While the apps are available to download for everyone, a user will require a Jio SIM card to use them.  MyJio - Manage Jio Account and Digital Services associated with it.  JioTV - A live TV channel service.  JioCinema - An online HD video library.  JioChat - An instant messaging app.  JioMusic - A music player.  Jio4GVoice (earlier Jio Join) - A VoLTE phone simulator.  JioMags - E-reader for magazines.  JioXpressNews - A news and magazine aggregator  JioSecurity - Security app.  JioDrive - Cloud-based backup tool.  JioMoney Wallet - An online payments/wallet app
  • 7. LYF Smartphones  In June 2015, Jio tied up with domestic handset maker intex to supply 4G handsets enabled with voice over LTE (volte) feature. Through this, it plans to offer 4G voice calling besides rolling out high speed internet services using a fibre network, in addition to the 4G wireless network. However, in October 2015,Jio announced that it would be launching its own mobile handset brand named LYF.  On 25 January 2016, the company launched its LYF smartphone series starting with water 1, through its chain of electronic retail outlets, reliance retail. Three more handset models have been released so far, namely water 2, earth 1 and flame 1.

JioNET Wi-Fi  Prior to its pan-India launch of 4G data and telephony services, Jio has started providing free Wi-Fi hotspot services in cities throughout India .  Jio also provided Free Wi-Fi at Six Cricket Stadiums hosted ICC 2016 – T20 World Cup Matches. JioFi Wi-Fi  Jio also providing a portable Wi-Fi Hotspot & Router to Connect 10 Wi-Fi Devices and One on USB  Sleek and light-weight device to keep you connected on-the-go.
  • 9. 4G Broadband  The Company is Planning to launch 4G Broadband Services at low cost.  The company has a network of more than 250,000 km of fibre optic cables in the country, over which it will be partnering with local cable operators to get broader connectivity for its broadband services.  With its multi-service operator (MSO) licence, Jio will also serve as a TV channel distributor and will offer television-on-demand on its network.  As of now, there is no proper tariff has been released from the company about 4G Broadband Services.
  • 10. Current Scenario  Jio is currently with user base of 16 Million +.  Jio is currently providing Free Services to all its customer’s until December 31, 2016.  Jio is offering Free Calls to any network throughout the country.  Jio offering Free Roaming over the Country.  Jio offering Free Service for iPhone7 until December 31, 2017.
  • 11. ControversiesIssue with incumbents  Jio has complained TRAI that other Mobile Network Companies airtel, Vodafone and Idea are blocking the calls from Jio Network.  So, On Sep 2016 a meeting was held by TRAI to discuss the problem with representatives of Mobile Network Companies.  After the Meeting with TRAI & COAI all the Mobile Network companies are promised to add additional Interconnect Ports for Jio.  All other mobile Join together and sent a letter to PMO that Jio Free Service is making a huge loss for our companies and they requested to take further steps. Issues with Speed  In October 2016 , Ookla , a reliable speed testing source revealed that Jio's speed in several regions is encountering speed falling drastically.  Ookla reports that the Jio's internet speed decreased 23% month-over-month from 11.31 Mbps to 8.77 Mbps, continuing a downward trend for 2016.  This report came when Jio already had 15 Millions customers in short time.
  • 12. Future plans  As we earlier said Jio is facing the issue with Speed of Internet, So company is mainly planned to focus on that issue and solve as soon as Possible.  Jio also planned to enter into the Broadband Network to make a revolution on the Wired Internet Connections.  Jio is providing the Jio Services by Jio Apps and IT Team of Jio is developing a new Apps that may need for Upcoming Generations.  IT Team also focus on upgradation of current apps and adding new features.  As of rumors Jio planned to Continue Free Voice Call Services on Future.  Although 5G technology is ready but they have to work on his network improvement so that voice call improved and get good user experience.

SWOT Analysis  STRENGTH  The Cheap priced Tariff plans.  Jio Apps Services.  WEAKNESS  Call Drop Issues.  Unpredictable future plans.  THREAT  Increase user base may cost reduce in Speed.  Other Competitors may reduce their tariff plans to compete with Jio.  OPPOURTUNITES  Jio is the First Indian Network to Offer Free 4G Services and it got reached everywhere.  If Jio Continues the Same Tariff Plan for Few Years, it may become No. 1 network in India
  • 14. Strategy  Loss leading Strategy ( Market penetration Strategy) It means sell the product in loss or in less price so that you can get the large number of customer. As for Ex:- IF a item cost RS.100 and you sell the product in RS.50 then you easily get the large number of customer.  Cut our competitors  Created monopoly market in saturated market and get (Competitive Advantage & Sustainable advantage). Only those producer get success who think about consumer not about themselves.

So that your customer will be your promoter.  Revenue:-After promoting your product you automatically collected revenue.  Blue Ocean Strategy  At 1st they don’t focused on colleting revenue  They focused on maximizing their customer after making blue ocean of customer they started collecting huge number of revenue which is known as Blue Ocean Strategy.  After these other’s competitors like Airtel, vodafone, idea, aircel etc. busy on break even analysis to start new business but jio didn’t focuse on break even analysis. They focused on:- Customer perception & Customer Behaviour Analysis. Once you got the CP & CBA then you will get the business and then by making sustainable advantage and recuring revenue model you will go forward .
  • 17. Conclusion In India, FREE is a not just word, it’s an Magic or Emotion to Change the People’s mind and make them to fall on the particular Product or Thing. Jio is following same tactics to reach people and grow its network. As we mentioned earlier, Jio is offering FREE Services until December 31, 2016. But No one Knows what may going to happen after December 31, 2016 as so the Tariff Plans are already announced. People are comfort with the Speed of 4G. It is tough for the People to leave the Network. Mukesh Ambani understand the feelings of the customer and make profit on our feeling and emotions.
