Key Achievements
Drive sales revenue - Generated over $30 million per year in sales revenue at Future Shop
with consistent year over year increases; consistently maximized bonuses received for revenue
and profitability goal achievement.
Financial Acumen – As owner / operator of MsChiff's Closet, managed all accounting
operations (including daily reporting and reconciliations), tracked accounts receivable and
account payable, managed cash flows, reconciled bank transactions, and produced financial
reports. Even in 2008 during the economic downturn, always maintained positive cash flow and
remained in the black.
Project Management – After a thorough research process with a clear vision of acquiring a
retirement property, developed a vacation rental property from spec in Panama and purchased
additional property in Costa Rica for future development. Negotiated price and terms, oversaw
building development, managed all legal requirements, furnished the Panama property, and
marketed to prospective renters. Addressed post-construction defects, supervised tradespeople,
negotiated with property management to ensure a turn-key ready operation. Assisted other
owners in navigating legal and construction requirements to complete their properties.
Business Start-Up – Established two businesses from concept to successful, long-running
ventures. As MsChiff's Closet owner and operator, established the business and operated for 8
years with consistent growth year over year. Sold to a purchaser at a profit at the end of 8 years.
Also owned and operated a private club as a partnership for 3 years before selling the club,
which is still running to date. Start up of a new Future Shop location from ground, managing
from initial pre-opening set up to opening and running of the daily operations.
Inventory and Purchasing – As Manager at Future Shop, was responsible for inventory levels
and product life-cycle required to maintain profitability in a high pressure sales target
environment. Established effective loss prevention procedures and accounting processes for
complex and unexpected variances. As owner / operator of MsChiff's Closet, selected and
ordered inventory, accounting for ever-changing market trends. Managed all aspects of
procurement, from initial buying of stock through inventory tracking to the final year-end
inventory count.
Customer Service – Developed a deep expertise client relations through MsChiff's Closet and
Future Shop. Worked closely with all product development departments to create and maintain
marketing materials for sales presentations meetings. Was the go-to manager for challenging
and difficult cases with an ability to listen and find solutions for even the most-dissatisfied
customer. Built strong customer relationships with patrons of MsChiff's closet, often extending
connections beyond the store environment itself. Fielded questions from customers and
employees at Future Shop and MsChiff's Closet to satisfy needs through effective listening and
problem solving abilities.
Management – Managed a staff of 50 plus at Future Shop, including, salespeople, department
managers, CSR managers, purchasers and warehouse staff. Assigned tasks and projects to
associates, tracked progress and updated managers in response to a constantly changing retail
environment. Worked closely with company executives to identify new business opportunities
and routinely participated in the sales process. Recruited, screened, interviewed, hired, and
managed all staff (including terminations).
Marketing - Successful career in product marketing, promotions, public relations and
communications management. At MsChiff's Closet, created and executed marketing / PR
campaigns, including new product introductions and existing product development in a boutique
retail environment. As Manager at Future shop, led successful product launches in highly
volatile electronics market, including audio, computers, video, appliances, and entertainment
products with focus on revenue-generation and product longevity.
Quality Assurance – As auditor for Mosaic Marketing, ensured that measurements and
requirements entered in planogram software were accurate prior to aisle resets at Southern
Alberta Home Depots. Also did electronics merchandising and inventory at Future Shop, Best
Buy, Walmart, and Toys R Us. Created solutions in the areas of inventory, sales reporting,
distribution and product upgrades that led to system improvements and streamlined processes.
