AND ITS TYPES

Jewellery
• Jewellery consists of small decorative items worn for
personal adornment, suchas brooches, rings, necklaces, earrings, pendants, b
racelets, and cufflinks.
• Jewellery may be attached to the body or the clothes.
• Jewellery may be made from a wide range of materials.
• Gemstones and similar materials such as amber and coral, precious
metals, beads, and shells have been widely used, and enamel has often been
important.
• In most cultures jewellery can be understood as a status symbol, for its
material properties, its patterns, or for meaningful symbols.
Types of jewellery
• There are main four types of jewellery , they are as follows
• Fine jewellery
• Semi-fine jewellery
• Bridge jewellery
• Costume jewellery
Fine jewellery
• Fine jewelry is typically reserved for special occasions: engagements,
graduations, birthdays, etc.
• But it's also a great option for girls who like to wear their jewelry 24/7
and don't want to worry about taking their jewels off when they
sleep, shower or workout.
• Fine jewelry is always solid gold and the stones are genuine, it will
never tarnish and can be worn day in and day out
Semi-fine jewellery
• Semi-fine jewelry is typically characterized as being gold plated, gold
vermeil (a thicker gold plating) or gold fill jewelry.
• This category of jewels is often made with genuine stones such as
aquamarine, opals, morganite, etc.
• It's important that semi-fine or gold plated jewelry not be worn in the
shower, pool, to sleep or when working out
Bridge jewellery
• Bridge jewellery acts as a bridge between fine and costume jewellery.
• Bridge jewelry uses semi-precious gemstones such as amethyst,
freshwater pearls, onyx, garnets, tigers eye, flourite, etc..
• Because it uses semi-precious gemstones and pearls, bridge jewelry
looks much more expensive than it actually is.
• It is also a great value, giving you much more “bang for your buck”
than costume jewelry, at only a slightly higher price.
Costume jewellery
• Costume jewelry is usually mass produced using inexpensive
components such as base metal, rhinestones or paste beads, and
plastic shaped and dyed to simulate gemstones.
• It is also called as fashion jewellery.
• Fashion jewelry is typically made with non-precious stones and
metals such as brass, bronze and copper. These are rings, necklaces,
earrings and bracelets made with Swarovski crystals, beads, leather or
acrylic materials.
Thank you
