Eggs develop into ¨larval planulae¨, become
polyps, bud into ephyrae and then transform into
adult jelly fish.
 Most jellyfish do not have specialized
digestive, central nervous, respiratory, or
circulatory systems.
 Jellies are carnivorous, feeding on plankton,
crustaceans, fish eggs, small fish and other
jellyfish
 The smallest jellyfish have bell disks from
0.5 mm with short tentacles that extend out
beyond.
 The Lion's mane jellyfish was long-cited as
the largest jellyfish, and arguably the longest
animal in the world, with fine, thread-like
tentacles that may extend up to 36 metres
long
The sea wasp, a box
jellyfish found in
Australian waters, can
kill an adult human
within a few minutes.
Contact with a jellyfish tentacle can inject venom,
yet only some species' venom cause an adverse
reaction in humans.
