Brothers
I hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas and are
looking forward to a rewarding New Year.
There has not been much activity over the holidays but
a few things did happen that I found surprising and
blessings.

2. We had everything we needed for the Thanksgiving
Distribution of the Turkey Dinners for the less
fortunate, and thanks to the Knights and their families
that volunteered, I believe they were all rewarded with
Thanks from The St. Vincent de Paul Society
members but also with the feelings of satisfaction that
we were helping those less fortunate then us.
Now the surprise, we were running short of vegetables
and the fixings that SVDP provides along with the
turkeys at Christmas. Out of nowhere a group of Far
East Indians, most if not all are non-Christian Hindus,
came forward and made it known they were interested
in contributing needed non-meat. Hindus are primarily
vegetarian, no turkeys, no stuffing and no gravy,
fixings. They were told we were running short of
vegetables, mash potatoes and Jell-O. They offered
to provide 100 cans of Green Beans and 100 cans of
corn like quantities of mashed potatoes and Jell-O,
they actually donated 200 of each. They helped us put
the boxes of food together and helped on the
distribution.
Hopefully, we will have all of the committees setup,
The Knights of Columbus have some defined
committees identified and although in the past we
have identified Directors for the various committees,

3. they didn’t really accomplish anything. Hopefully, we
will have more responsibilities shared for the needs of
the Council, I can’t do everything, remember all of you
young wiper snappers, I’m an old man. Really I think
the duties can be shared and we will be a better
Council.
See you Wednesday, Jan. 8 and if you are interested
in the Organization meeting we will be meeting
Tuesday, Jan. 7 at the Flannigan’s on Weston Rd,
meeting at 7:00 if you are interested in moving the
Council forward come out all are welcome.

the Epiphany which commemorates the visit
of the Three Kings. They brought with them
gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gold
represents the Divinity of Jesus. Frankincense
represents the priesthood of Jesus Christ who
established the new and eternal covenant for
the forgiveness of sins and our eternal
salvation. The myrrh, a burial spice, indicated
that Jesus would die to accomplish the divine
plan of salvation. When the Three Kings
arrived at the stable in Bethlehem and saw the
baby Jesus in the manger, they gave him
homage and offered their finest gifts. My
brother knights, as we begin our new year of
2014, let us pray that God give us the grace to
model our lives after the Three Kings. If we do
it, we, too, will give homage to Jesus and offer
Him our finest gifts throughout the New year.
Gratefully,
Fr. Frank

8. Editor's Corner:
Top Saints sites
Happy New Year, my fellow Catholics and non-Catholics! As part of
your daily spiritual plan of life, you should include the Saints as your
part of you reading. Saints are certain persons of exceptional
holiness of life, formally recognized as such by the Christian Church,
especially by canonization.
Below are my recommended sites to review and an autobiography of
St.Ignatius, the patron saint of retreats and spiritual exercises. Again,
enjoy a merry and prosperous new year!
