We combined the key findings from two of our 2020 research reports evaluating families' concerns with transporting their kids to school and which state transportation laws support (or lack support for) school choice students.
Breaking Down the 2019 Schooling in America SurveyEdChoice
Americans’ satisfaction with K–12 education reached a 15-year high this year, according to Gallup. But do parents and teachers agree? Is there consensus among generations? Growing education reform efforts indicate there’s more under the surface.
EdChoice's 2019 Schooling in America Survey with Braun Research measures American attitudes toward big issues in K–12 education and digs deeper with parents, public school teachers, Millennials and Generation Z.

EdChoice's 2018 Schooling in America SurveyEdChoice
Teachers and K–12 education made headlines this year. Elections can only tell us so much about what the public thinks about K–12 education. That's why we look to polls like EdChoice's six-years-running "Schooling in America Survey," which allows us to provide a clear picture of Americans' views and attitudes on K–12 issues. For this year's survey, we interviewed a representative national sample of 1,803 American adults, including an extra 533 school-aged parents. Most notably, we surveyed a separate sample of 777 public school teachers.

Rates of active travel to school are 60 percent higher at schools with Safe Routes to School programming compared to those without. The movement to get kids active on their way to school and in daily life is robust; the educational, encouragement and engineering programs are working; and interest from kids, parents, schools, health agencies and communities is rising. Safe Routes to Schools programs can be leveraged as a winning campaign to improve active transportation for all ages in Oregon cities and towns. This session will profile funding, policies, programs and case studies of Safe Routes to School programs and infrastructure in Oregon communities, and give participants the opportunity to share their ideas and challenges to get the next generation moving.

The landscape of school choice options in public education has been expanding faster than ever across the country over the past decade, and particularly here in Florida. With this expansion has come an unprecedented array of decisions for parents to learn how to navigate in determining the best type of school for their children. In this policy brief, the Jacksonville Public Education Fund examines the complex system of school choice in Duval County, and how parents find their way through it.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Good morning! I’m thrilled to welcome you here today for the very first in a monthly series of topical breakfasts that we’re hosting here at the Jacksonville Public Education Fund to gather key leaders from throughout our community to talk about public education.
I want to recognize two Legislators who are here and thank them for joining us. Senator Aaron Bean and Representative Reggie Fullwood, thank you for being here today!
I also want to thank Kim Miller for being here from Representative Mia Jones’ office and Jim Adams from Representative Janet Adkins’ office.
I couldn’t be more excited that our first event will focus on honoring our Duval Legislative delegation for their work to support a matching grant program that leverages private philanthropic support from businesses and individuals to spark innovation and rally the community to move public education forward in Duval County and throughout the state.
But first, I want to tell you a little bit about the Jacksonville Public Education Fund.
Now, I know that all of you in this room count yourselves as passionate public education advocates. But why is improving the quality of public education so important to making our entire community vibrant and strong? The data tell a story.
First of all, we have seen incredible progress in the number of students who are graduating from high school in this city.
Overall graduation rate – 74% in four years, closed gap significantly since 2008-2009.
AA Grad Rate – 66.8% – 2nd in State to Dade of big 7 (+12% points since 2010).
I think most of you are familiar with Nikolai Vitti, the superintendent of Duval County Public Schools, who has made it a priority to ensure that the district is reaching every student with high quality instruction, and focusing especially on schools that have not always received the support they need.
In addition to that, we’re also seeing significant progress on two surveys that show that student and teacher engagement is up, a really important factor that leads to student success.
What I can’t show you right now is student achievement data, which brings me to some of the key issues that our community will face over the next year.
Thank you so much for taking time to be here today.
This poll will be an annual event, and the information from the poll will be presented to delegates to the Third Annual ONE by ONE convention on January 31, 2015. We encourage you all to be there.
Now I’ll take some questions.
