This paper discusses the use of shunt active power filters (SAPF) to enhance power quality by reducing total harmonic distortion (THD) in power systems affected by nonlinear loads. It details the implementation of a hysteresis current control method for generating switching signals, revealing successful simulation results that achieved a THD reduction from 25.75% to 4.87%, within IEEE limits. The findings indicate that the shunt active power filter effectively compensates for current harmonics and improves power efficiency.
