Editor's Notes

  • #5 Self-Esteem Elements: 1.The cognitive element : the discrepancy between one’s ideal self and the perceived self. 2.The affective element : the feelings or emotions that one has when considering that discrepancy. 3.The behavioral aspects : manifested in such behaviors as assertiveness, resilience, being decisive and respectful of others.
  • #7 Leaders can have positive or negative attitudes about themselves and about others. The leader should not only have a very positive self-image but also learn to develop a positive image of others by focusing on their strengths. The self-image and self-esteem of the leader and the image and esteem of others greatly affect the way he /she relates to and deals with others in the empowering process.
  • #11 To develop an excellent inner-voice “ positive self-talk” you need to repeat positive statements by your own way You can record those statements into a tape and play it in your car , or in bed at night or in the morning to wake you up.
  • #12 Think about people who are in your current personal & professional networks. Write down the names of those colleagues or friends who currently provide you with different kinds of support.
