Josh 24:14-15 Now, then, fear the LORD, and serve Him in sincerity and truth. And put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served Beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Jesus’ interaction with the woman caught in adultery is very instructive in understanding why Jesus came and how he fulfilled that purpose. It reminds us that Jesus often surprised the people of his day because He acted in ways that they couldn’t even conceive. He reminds us not only that sin is very serious but that we must be focused on mercy, not judgment.

Message series awakening - part 5 - awakening to regret - pastor chuck bern...LifePointe Church
This message is Part 5 in the message series “AWAKENING” by Pastor Chuck Bernal. In this message titled, “Awakening To Regret”, Pastor Chuck talks about how we often live with the pain of guilt and regret - but that is never God's intention for us. Using Romans 5:12-17, he then talks about how we can experience God's amazing grace that is greater than all of our sin. This message was delivered at LifePointe Church in Crowley, TX on Sunday, May 21, 2017.
Being inconsistent can be the root of serious failure in many lives because of being away from God and His word. It most often does not start with serious offenses, but small things.
There is a platform we each step onto at the start of every day, which is called the platform of exposure to sin. Our memory verse this week says it all.

Temptations are Always Stalking Us
Since the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Church has been empowered to do greater things. The reason why many churches are still living in a limbo is because they do not realize that their positions in the Kingdom of God. Recognize who you are in Christ and take charge of your situation today. God's vision is always accompanied by His empowerment.
Becoming A Servant of the Most High GodAlbert Kang
From the life of Moses, we are able to glean spiritual truths and principles that will help us to grow to become true servants of the Most High God. From a self-sufficient man, Moses became a trusted servant of God. Being humbled for 40 years, he was able to stand before the highest ruler of Egypt and made demands that few mortals dared to utter.
Heb 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him.
In this lesson we remind us of the devastating effects of sin and
the terror and shame of crucifixion. We also see the love of GOD through the cross. Both audio and slides can be found together at www.cmcoc.org
Sermon by: Brian Birdow
Mt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mk 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Act 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Mt 13:15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.'
Tit 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Act 20:35 "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Rom 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Jn 12:42-43 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
Col 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Mt 17:20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

4. It Is Our Choice!Josh 24:14-15 "Now therefore, fear the LORD,
serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put
away the gods which your fathers served on the
other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the
LORD! "And if it seems evil to you to serve the
LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom
you will serve, whether the gods which your
fathers served that were on the other side of the
River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose
land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we
will serve the LORD."
5.
6. “There are people who Dream and
there are people who Scream. There
are people who Cry and there are
people who Fly. The good news is that
this is our CHOICE!”
• We make choices from the time we wake
up to the time we go to sleep and all in
between!
♦What will I wear, what will I eat, where will
I go, what will I do? Is all up to us to a
certain degree!
7. Making the right choice!
Deut 30:19 “I call heaven and earth as
witnesses today against you, that I have set
before you life and death, blessing and
cursing; therefore choose life, that both you
and your descendants may live.”
• Mankind has always had a choice!
♦Obey God & live, disobey God & die!
• Gen. 2:16-17
• God created us with the capability of
“free-will!”
8. I. The Attribute of Choice!
Attribute = characteristics or qualities
• What will define us and describe us?
• Every person of an accountable age
has been given the responsibility “of
choice” what we will choose!
• God created man upright & perfect, but
mankind often makes the wrong choice!
♦Js. 1:17; Eccl. 7:29 cf. Rom. 3:23; 5:12
9. Following the example of
Adam and Eve! (Gen. 3:1-6)
The lust of the flesh, of the eye & pride of life!
• These are “the path/s of sin!”
♦Every tempation/sin will come by one or
more of these! (Cf.Mt.4:3-10;Lk.4:3-12)
• The Bible also warns of “the process of
sin!”
♦Js. 1:13-15 desire + lust + sin = death!
• Yet, we do not have to sin! (1Cor.10:13)
10.
11. Where we are today is a
direct result of our choices!
• Whether good or bad, we are constantly
making choices!
• Every choice we make will either bring us
closer to God, or take us further away! We
are always on the move!
♦Jas 4:8 Draw near to God and He will
draw near to you. Cleanse your hands,
you sinners; and purify your hearts, you
double-minded.
12. II. The Aspect of Choice!
Aspect = a particular part or feature of
something
• Every piece of the puzzle, every feature
is important!
• When we are making decisions we need
to understand just what hangs on them!
♦Where we will be for all eternity hangs
completely on us!
• Each piece is important!
13. Our eternity hangs on us because God
has made a way and we must choose!
• What we decide to do in this life will
determine where we will be in the next!
♦ Everlasting punishment! (Mt. 25:41, 46)
♦ Or, life eternal! (Mt. 25:46)
• Will we be a “sheep” or a “goat?”
♦ Will we follow the Shepherd?
♦ Or, will we fight against Him?
• Ever man will answer for his choices!
♦ 2 Cor. 5:10; Mt. 12:36-37; Rom.14:11,12
14. III. The Application of Choice!
How many of us have at sometime chosen
wrongly?
• Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God. (Cf. 3:10-12)
• Rom 5:12 Therefore, just as through one
man sin entered the world, and death
through sin, and thus death spread to all
men, because all sinned--
♦ For God so loved _____ that He gave!
♦ For ______ has sinned & fallen short!
15. Without God we are “all” in
a lost condition!
• But, when we choose to come back to Him
we are forgiven! It’s our choice!
♦ Remember the story of “Prodigal Son!”
• Lk. 15:11-32
• The Father is always waiting to run to
us! But we must be willing to come!
• It is God’s hope and desire that we will all
choice Him!
♦ 2 Pet. 3:9
16. Conlusion:
• What will we choose? Life and live or
death and die?
• Have we made the right choice?
• What choices are we making each and
every day?
• If you have not yet chosen God, then
today is the day, tomorrow maybe too
late!
