Act 20:35 "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Mt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mk 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Act 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Tit 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
This document discusses the benefits of being part of a local church congregation. It outlines three main benefits: 1) Worship gives encouragement as Christians support and stimulate one another, 2) Worship gives enjoyment, as gathering with others is a privilege and blessing, not a burden, 3) Worship gives endurance, as enduring in the Christian faith requires drawing near to God with others and looking to Jesus as an example of enduring. The local church is where Christians can find these benefits of encouragement, enjoyment, and endurance to help them in their faith.
Grace is often misunderstood to mean that salvation can be obtained freely without any effort. However, divine grace provides humankind with an extension of time and opportunity to prove themselves worthy of salvation by obeying God's laws. While the gift of grace is unmerited and available to all, it is not a license to sin. To take advantage of the grace provided through Jesus Christ's sacrifice, one must use the time under grace to obey God and follow his commandments in order to gain eternal life.
1 Cor 1:17-18 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

(Titus 2:11-15) — What would you say is the biggest problem facing the church? If you were honest with yourself, could you say you were as zealous as you ought to be? What is Zeal? Can zeal be bad? — What are we most enthusiastic about? Where are our affections and values directed? - http://w65stchurchofchrist.org/2017_Sermons/2017_03_19_Zealous_For_Good_Works.mp3

Mt 23:3-4 "Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. "For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers."
The document discusses God as our Heavenly Father. It notes that while God is the Creator of all, He is only a Father to those who are His children through faith in Jesus Christ. As our Father, God provides for our needs, protects us, and is proud of us as His children. The document encourages seeking God and His kingdom through prayer and spending time with Him as our Father. It concludes by asking the reader if they have come to know God not just as their Creator but as their saving Father and Friend.
This document discusses Jesus' teaching about going the "second mile" from Matthew 5:41. It encourages Christians to willingly do more than is required or expected of them in their service to God and others. The key points made are:
1) Going the second mile involves choosing to serve beyond what is compulsory through having the right attitude and priorities.
2) Doing more than necessary brings positive change, opening doors to help people physically and spiritually.
3) Committing to the second mile principle requires sacrifice and persevering even when challenges arise.
This document discusses preaching with passion and the importance of having compassion. It argues that Jesus was the ultimate example of passionate preaching, as he was "moved with compassion" for people eight times in the gospels. To preach effectively, one must have the right heart, head, and harvest. The right heart means having compassion, the right head means having the right understanding from Scripture, and the right harvest means one's preaching will produce fruit if the heart and head are aligned with God. The document concludes by emphasizing that we should learn from Jesus' example of powerful, purposeful, and passionate preaching motivated by compassion for others.
This document discusses what generous living means. It involves being generous with one's time, talents, and treasure. Generous living means not neglecting important matters like justice, mercy and faithfulness. It encourages setting aside money proportionally according to one's income to support God's people. The prodigal son can't turn back? The formation of the prodigal son, falling,...franktsao4
This document discusses the story of the prodigal son from the Bible and lessons that can be learned from it. It addresses questions about why no one helped the prodigal son when he was poor and starving. It argues that if others had helped him too much, he may never have turned back to his father on his own. The document emphasizes that each person must carry their own burden and follow God by denying themselves, rather than having others take responsibility for them. It stresses that God is in charge and his word is unchanging, so people must believe in him and obey his commandments to truly know him. Having faith and not fearing gives the courage to follow God's will.
This document discusses the virtues of generosity and how it counters materialism. It begins by defining generosity and materialism. It then examines several Bible passages about generosity, including John 3:16 which discusses God's generosity in giving his son. It argues that true generosity comes from love, like God's love for humanity. The document then discusses how believers should emulate God's generosity through giving without hesitation to meet needs in the community and spread the gospel. It asserts that generous giving leads to overflowing joy and a greater spiritual harvest, as God rewards generous people both on earth and in heaven.
The document discusses biblical perspectives on money, possessions, and generosity. It provides several "keys" or principles: 1) God owns everything and we are merely stewards of what he provides. 2) Where we put our money reveals where our heart is and determines where it will go. 3) Heaven, not earth, is our true home. 4) We should live not just for short-term pleasures but with an eye to eternal rewards. 5) Giving is the only remedy for materialism and selfish desires. 6) God blesses our generosity not to raise our standard of living but to increase our standard of giving.
This document is a sermon about choosing to serve God over wealth and other masters. It discusses passages from Joshua 24:14-15, Matthew 6:19-24, and Luke 16:10-15 about choosing who or what to worship and serve. The sermon argues that people cannot serve both God and money, and should instead store up treasure in heaven through good deeds and sharing with others, since earthly treasures are fleeting but heavenly rewards last forever. It encourages setting one's heart and mind on heavenly things rather than earthly desires so that one's ultimate master is God.

This document discusses Christian giving and whether tithing is prescribed for the church. It examines what the Old and New Testaments say about tithing. While tithing was a requirement in the Old Testament, totaling 23-30% of produce and animals, the New Testament does not explicitly command or mention tithing for Christians. The document cautions against putting Christians under the law and emphasizes that following Christ costs everything, not just 10%. It summarizes that the New Testament teaches Christians to generously give according to their means to support ministry and help those in need.
This document is a bulletin from the Gospel Baptist Tabernacle church in Rossville, Georgia that provides details of an upcoming Sunday service and lesson on financial blessings. The lesson will discuss discarding the world's views of finances, such as always wanting more, keeping up with others, and getting something for nothing, and accepting God's viewpoint instead. God's view is that people should work hard and manage well, be content, and generous. The lesson teaches that able-bodied people should work to have their needs met rather than expecting something for nothing.
WHAT GOD WANTS YOU MUST HAVE DONE BEFORE RETURNING TO DUSTStanley Tan
God wants people to live their lives for Him and accomplish certain things before returning to dust in death. This includes believing in Jesus, being born again by the Spirit, living by faith in Christ, doing God's will, being useful in teaching His word, bearing fruit and making disciples, living in obedience and fear of God. If people fully obey God, He will bless them tremendously. God wants each person to reach their full potential and be excellent for His glory.
"The New Frontier I speak of is not a set of promises -- it is a set of challenges. It sums up not what I intend to offer the American people, but what I intent to ask of them"
— John F. Kennedy
The document discusses biblical teachings around wealth, money, and stewardship. It begins by explaining that Jesus taught about money frequently in the Bible. It then discusses several key points: that our hearts will follow where our money is; that wealth ultimately belongs to God; that Christians are called to be stewards rather than owners of what God provides; that tithing 10% is a minimum but Christians should give generously; and that true happiness comes from generosity not possessions. The overall message is that the Bible calls Christians to wisely manage wealth entrusted to them by God by generously sharing it to honor Him.
Mt 13:15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.'
Rom 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
The document discusses the Beatitude of "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness." It explains that this refers to having a strong desire and appetite for righteousness that is needed to sustain one's spiritual life. Specifically:
1) One must have a "proper appetite" for righteousness and God's word, rather than worldly things.
2) One must have the "proper attitude" of prioritizing obedience to God over men, as exemplified by Joseph and early Christians.
3) One must have the "proper acquaintances" by avoiding friendship with the world and being separate from unrighteousness. True Christians should seek to help others become friends of God rather than just being friends with
Heb 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him.
Jn 12:42-43 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
Col 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Mt 17:20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
1) The document discusses the serious and deadly nature of sin, noting that sin separates us from God.
2) It explains that sin comes from three sources: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
3) The solution to sin is found in Jesus, who died to pay for our sins so that through repentance and baptism, we can receive forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
This document discusses two stories from Luke 18 about maintaining faith and humility. The first story is about a persistent widow who petitions an unjust judge for justice, teaching that people ought to always pray and not lose heart. The second story contrasts a Pharisee who boasts of his righteousness with a tax collector who humbly asks for God's mercy. Both stories teach that the key is to rely on God through prayer and faith, rather than finding fault in others or exalting oneself. The conclusion exhorts the reader to focus on having faith in God rather than faultfinding, and to change oneself through humility before trying to change the world.
The document outlines God's plan of salvation according to scripture as involving five steps: 1) Hearing the word of God, 2) Believing in Jesus, 3) Repenting of sins, 4) Confessing faith in Jesus, and 5) Being baptized for the remission of sins. It emphasizes that while people have come up with many plans of salvation, there is only one plan given by God in the Bible. It encourages examining whether one has truly obeyed God's biblical plan of salvation or been deceived by human-made plans.
God is everlasting, existing outside of time. He is glorious in power and authority, as shown by His presence on Mount Sinai. God is also gracious, showing mercy and grace by sending Jesus to die for humanity's sins. Finally, God alone is intrinsically good - He defines what is right and wrong. The document examines scripture to showcase God's eternal nature and qualities of glory, grace and goodness as the supreme being.
This document discusses the difference between repentance and reporting. It defines repentance as feeling sincere regret and remorse about one's wrongdoings that leads to a change in actions and thoughts. Reporting is simply giving an account of something observed without genuine regret. The Bible describes repentance as having three parts: showing sorrow for sins, stopping sinful behaviors, and starting righteous service. True repentance involves a life transformation where one turns away from sin and toward God through their deeds. The document encourages examining one's own fruits to determine if they have truly repented or just reported about spiritual matters.
The document discusses the birth of Jesus Christ and why he came. It argues that Jesus was born and came specifically for humanity. Key points made include:
- Jesus was born and came for us according to prophecies and promises in the Bible, though we are unworthy.
- God had a plan of redemption from the beginning that involved sending his Son, according to his providence and sovereignty.
- God perfectly presented Jesus' birth through his providential plan and the proclamation of angels, showing he is in control of all things.
This document discusses how to overcome temptation from Satan, who is described as seeking to devour people like a roaring lion. It teaches that temptation comes through the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life. While temptation is common to all people, God provides a way of escape and will not let people be tempted beyond what they can handle. To overcome temptation, one must flee from it, have faith in God's care, and fight against temptation through spiritual discipline like prayer. Proper understanding of Satan's tactics and trusting in God's promises are key to taming the spiritual lion and resisting its temptations.
There is joy in heaven when a sinner repents and turns to God. The document discusses three key points: I) The reason for joy is that those who were lost are now found, II) True repentance requires sorrow for sins, stopping sinning, and starting to serve God, and III) God rewards those who repent with spiritual blessings both on earth and in heaven. The conclusion encourages readers to repent so that the angels may rejoice over them as well.
The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people, but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already!” – John Buchan
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more & become more, you are a leader!” – John Quincy Adams
God asks Satan if he has considered Job, who is blameless, upright, fears God, and shuns evil. Satan incites God to destroy Job without cause. The document discusses how the Bible does not promise an easy life, but that suffering will come. It examines the book of Job, noting how God's purpose is greater than what we understand. God allows trials to come from outside forces, while temptations come from within. Through trials and temptations, one can learn to trust fully in God.
This document discusses the power of words and actions in influencing others. It argues that actions speak louder than words, and that what we show through our behaviors is more important than what we say. It notes that the message we send to others is a combination of both our words and actions working together. When our words and actions are aligned, we have strength in our influence, but when they are not aligned, we risk stumbling and hypocrisy. The document encourages living faith through our deeds as well as our words.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Pr 3:5-10 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding; In all
your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct
your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear
the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to
your flesh, And strength to your bones. Honor the
LORD with your possessions, And with the
firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will
be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow
with new wine.

What Jesus Said About Giving!
Act 20:35 “I have shown you in every
way, by laboring like this, that you must
support the weak. And remember the
words of the Lord Jesus, that He said,
'It is more blessed to give than to
receive.”

Giving has to “do” with 3 things!
●Our Attitude!
–V.P. Black in “Rust as a witness” says that many don't want to
hear about giving because they simply have a bad attitude
towards it!
●Our Appetite!
–What drives us? What are we longing for?
–Money or the Master?(Mt.6:19-24; 2 Cor.9:6-8)
●Our Appearance!
–“When I look out at the congregation I ask, where are the poor?
When I look at the contribution I ask, where are the rich?”

A Sensitive Topic!
●This is a topic/subject that some even avoid all
together, but why?
●Now, I have chosen to use the word “giving” rather
than “money” for good reason!
●The subject of giving is much broader than just
one’s money!
●We should keep in mind that God is the greatest
giver and we will never out give Him!

I. Our Time!
How many of us have heard “time is money!”
●When I worked painting houses, my boss would always say
if we were not hustling “hurry up now, you are a dime holding
up a dollar!”
●When we learn to really put God first, everything else will
naturally follow!
–Mt. 6:19-34 food, shelter & clothing should come 2nd to God!
●The churches of Macedonia had little in the eyes of the
world, but not in God’s eyes! (2 Cor. 8:1-5) Everything of
lasting value!

What is the proper use of our time?
Lk. 9:23-25 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to
come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross
daily, and follow Me. "For whoever desires to save his life
will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save
it. “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world,
and is himself destroyed or lost?”
●The child of God must understand that we are
“always on duty!” We do not clock-in and clock-
out!
●Called to be a living sacrifice! (Rom.12:1)

II. Our Talents!
●The parable of the talents (Mt. 25:14-30) is not dealing
with what we think of as talents today, but it clearly applies!
–This had to do with a sum of money that needed to be put to
use!
–We must use it or lose it!
●We often think of a talent as one’s ability!
–What we are able and capable of doing!
●Are we using our God-given gifts and talents for His
glory?

To God be the Glory!
Mt 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may
see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
●The Christian life is to be one “working for the Lord!”
–1 Cor 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be
steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of
the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
–Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand
that we should walk in them.

III. Our Treasures!
●If I had a real treasure map with & I ask you to go on a
treasure hunt would you go?
–The truth of the matter is that we do! The Bible is in fact the
greatest treasure map ever given! It contains the “path of
eternal life!”
●One man’s junk is another man’s treasure!
–Our treasure is simply the things we find of value!
–Mt 6:20 “but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where
neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break
in and steal.”

2 to 3 vs. 20 to 30!
●The average Christian given 2% to 3% of their income to
God and spends 20% to 30% of their income on luxuries!
–This is humbling to me, I do not want to love myself 10x
more than I love God and yet is this not what this reveals?
–Mt 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be
also.”
●All that we have comes from God!
–Js 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of light...”

The source of the seed!
●2 Cor 9:6-7 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also
reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap
bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his
heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a
cheerful giver.
●2 Cor 9:10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower,
and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have
sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.
●1 Cor. 16:1-2; Mal. 3:8-10; Pr. 3:5-10

Conclusion:
Indeed Jesus got it right “It is more blessed to give
than to receive!”
●Jn 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have everlasting life.”
●If you have not yet come to receive the gift of the Son,
then today is the day!
●May we never take for granted what God has given us
and what we in turn are able to now give back to Him!
