New groundbreaking global survey findings demonstrate
the true value of cloud computing to the business. While it is understood in the industry that cloud computing provides clear cost benefits, CIOs are having difficulty getting a true fix on the business value that cloud might offer beyond cost reduction. These survey results reveal a direct link between cloud computing and business agility—how business outcomes are associated with agility, the role of IT for agile companies and the importance of cloud computing to business leaders.
Big Data has become a bleeding edge technology from past few years in both industry and the research Community. Is it the diametrically opposed view or truth? Frankly speaking, think is startup’s succeeding with these solutions?

Digitalization and its impact on financial transactions in IndiaRaja Sarkar
Digitalalization is the adoption of various existing and developing technologies by organizations in consonance
with the changes in internal operations as well as external relationship to provide better customer services and
experiences efficiently and effectively. Projects such as Make in India and Digital India are now the buzzwords
to a better and sustainable industrial and financial growth of our nation. Government is encouraging technology
adoption/upgradation while providing connectivity with high speed bandwidth to bring together every nook and
corner of the country. This has opened up the vast untapped market in India for digital connectivity. Digital
payment services by banks like Unified Payments Infrastructure (UPI), Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM),
mobile money, e-wallets have created a revolution of sorts in the Indian financial market. Adaptation and
implementation of highly capital intensive global technologies, infrastructure and processes are vital in order to
remain ahead of the curve. Transition in financial transactions such as data integrity, authentication (including
third party authentication) and trust factors are gaining importance as a measure of customer safeguarding.
Enhanced customer satisfaction and value through unified customer experiences, faster output, infinite banking
volumes, financial inclusion, operational efficiencies, scale of economy etc. are being sought after, by
leveraging digital technologies. Digitalization has improved the efficiency and customer experience in several
fields including the financial transaction areas. The present paper will try to explore the impact of digitalization
on financial transactions in India.
Most businesses choose to outsource IT operations to reduce costs, but is outsourcing IT truly the best decision? In actuality, businesses that follow this path increasingly report little to no cost savings, and 70 percent of them say that they have lost opportunities to innovate. It’s no surprise, then, that businesses now are looking to selective out-tasking, which is expected to deliver billions of dollars in savings over the next few years. Where do these savings come from? What are the real draws of out-tasking? View the infographic for more information.

Free Gartner Report: Aligning Supply and Demand for IT Services
Cloud computing is transforming how IT manages costs and standards, but its impact extends into how IT itself is managed as a business. Public cloud computing puts pressure on the entire IT cost structure to become wiser and more efficient about balancing the supply and demand for IT services.
While cloud commoditization is driving down prices, IT is forced to manage resulting increases in consumption. The report recommends steps CIOs should take to improve the maturity of their approach to IT service management, installing:
• Benchmarking and chargeback to manage demand for cloud services
• Expand their strategic vendor management and IT procurement practices
• Become a broker of services, including external cloud computing.
Consider using IT cost transparency improvement as a cultural change agent to transform the IT organization from a focus on “speed and quality” to one of “IT cost and business value”.

Digital Transformation in Manufacturing - A Whitepaper by RapidValue SolutionsRapidValue
This whitepaper aims to answer some of the common questions around digital transformation specifically for the business leaders in the manufacturing industry. Because of the role that technology plays today in a organization's ability to evolve, business leaders must lead their organizations through this era of digital transformation.
Many businesses consider their telecom system a utility—an asset base that is just there and hardly worth thinking about. Yet that very nonchalance is a symptom of just how essential communications systems are. Ask most organizations what they would do without phone and Internet access, and the answer would likely be that their business would come to a screeching halt. The communications portfolio has become that important to businesses today—and, ironically, all too often taken for granted.
Leveraging the Cloud: Why it Matters to Large & SMB RetailersEarthLink Business
This special report identifies several ways cloud applications are becoming more attractive options. One is via highly targeted point solutions designed to solve specific business needs. Another is via enterprise-wide availability that can be accessed on an as-needed basis. A third major growth area is among small and medium-sized retail businesses, which like cloud’s flexibility and functionality and lack the heavy legacy system investment that can restrain larger organizations from moving to SaaS solutions.
--
Cloud Computing’s advocates – and there are many – have long argued that retail and
cloud-based solutions are, like the stars of a romantic comedy of old, made for each other. It’s a sentiment that was voiced at last month’s RIS Retail Technology Conference by Richard Mader, ARTS director emeritus and CIO at multiple retailers throughout his long career.
Mader’s arguments, in brief, were:
• Cloud computing lowers costs, still an imperative for retailers of all sizes;
• It reduces capital expenditures and transfers them to the operational
expenditure budget line;
• The technology can deal with large and sudden spikes, ideal for a highly
seasonal and promotions-driven industry;
• Cloud solutions can handle the enlarged databases and enhanced speed requirements of increasingly popular Big Data applications, and;
• They are well-suited to the spread of mobility in retail.
The negatives about cloud have been concerns about reliability and security, but according to Mader these have largely been dealt with – so much so that some retail enterprises are now cloud-only IT shops.
So why does the cloud computing nirvana always seem to be receding into the future, never quite becoming the actual present? One key factor is the inertia generated by on-premise legacy systems, which means that any move to a cloud-based model will be evolutionary rather than rip-and-replace revolutionary.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

1. Centralized IT Creates Need for More Effective Cost Management
by Ann All, IT Business Edge
Apr 1, 2010 5:21:29 PM
Ann All spoke with Yisrael Dancziger, president and CEO of Digital Fuel Technologies, a provider of IT cost visibility solutions
including IT cost management and service level management (SLM) applications used by enterprises and commercial service
providers. Customers include the BBC, BT, Capital One, Cisco, Computacenter, CSC, Cummins, Dell, Deutsche Bank, General
Electric, Global Crossing, IBM, Nationwide, Nestle, Procter & Gamble, Siemens, SITA, Sprint, Steria, Telefonica, Telus, VW and
Wipro. The company recently sponsored an independent study of IT cost visibility, and confirmed its results with a series of
multi-city roundtable meetings with CIO-level executives during 2009's fourth quarter.
All: How do most IT organizations do cost management today?
Dancziger: Most IT organizations focus on high level only, Excel spreadsheet hell or don’t do at all.
All: Yikes. These approaches obviously seem inadequate.
Dancziger: Yes, with no detailed visibility into P&Ls, there is no predictability. Also, with no detailed visibility, you can’t optimize
cost benefit of IT on an ongoing basis and you can't be proactive about controlling costs. Not to mention, doing all of the necessary
tasks manually costs an arm and a leg, and it is after the fact and error prone. It's becoming even more of an issue in a world of
virtualization and cloud commuting, where you must perform usage-based IT cost allocation to comply with tax and regulations.
All: What are the key challenges in cost management for most IT organizations?
Dancziger: The key challenges in cost management for your typical IT organization include
automation of data gathering and handling, as well as cost model and allocation rules
management.
All: Is the profile of cost management rising? I would think so, with the added emphasis on
controlling and cutting costs in this post-recessionary environment. Other than the recession-
driven focus on cost reduction, are there any other market forces contributing to an increase in
interest?
Dancziger: Yes. The importance and profile of cost management is rising very much. The
recession-driven focus on cost reduction is tactical; the key driver of this market is because of
virtualization, centralization of IT and cloud computing.
All. OK. I know in Digital Fuel’s recent research there was a finding that virtualization and cloud computing are making it even
harder for IT organizations to achieve cost transparency, and thus optimize and rationalize their investments. Why are these
technologies making it even tougher on IT departments?
Dancziger: They are not making it tougher, they are requiring better IT cost management. When resources are virtualized, and the
allocation and usage of specific resources are consistently changing, how do you allocate costs to a specific BU? How do you know
the cost of a specific application? How do you bill and charge for IT? These and many other questions can only be answered with a
system, as changes and volume are way too frequent for manual solutions to handle.
The cloud is characterized by central shared resources delivered over the Web, multiple vendors, easy to activate, easy to shut down,
usage-based pricing models, mix-and-match options to create most cost-effective solutions. In such a world, corporate IT is not only
about running IT, it is mainly about managing the business of IT. That is all about making sure you chose the best cost benefit
effective alternatives and change them when better alternatives come, in addition to making sure you can comply with regulation
and taxation requirements in this shared resources world.
All: Do you have any suggested cost management best practices for IT organizations?
Dancziger: My best advice is to start small. Find a specific area of pain and start there.
