Big data can transform businesses by improving key processes and turning data into business value. The document outlines four strategic business tactics for leveraging big data: 1) Using big data to power business strategy and make better, faster decisions. 2) Defining opportunities to monetize business insights from big data. 3) Enhancing user experiences with insights from big data. 4) Getting the latest insights from big data experts.
On behalf of SBI Consulting I’ve made a webinar on September 25th about Data Monetization.
In the post covid-19 era, transformation of businesses to govern their data more as an asset will become of huge importance. Becoming more data driven and digital will only increase at an unseen pace.
The essence of this transformation and the emphasis will be on Data Monetization. Monetizing your data assets will be of vital importance if you’d want to remain competitive and survive & thrive in the new normal.
In this webinar “Data Monetization in a post-Covid era”, I cover topics such as:
What does Data Monetization entails
Why Data Monetization is important for your business
How does the post-Covid era impacts this monetization process
What do we mean with Infonomics and Data Debt
The 5 key takeaways to get started with Data Monetization
The outcome? A good understanding of Data Monetization and practical insights to get going immediately!
Regardless of whether you’re selling digital services or doggie chow, all brands have to play by the same rules. As of 2018, the top 5 firms in the world are all data-driven companies: Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Microsoft.
A clear pattern has emerged in the past decade: brands that embrace digital and data on a strategic level (Amazon, Netflix, Apple) succeed, while the brands that don’t (Borders, Blockbuster, Kodak), fail.
Today, a brand’s adoption, popularity, and longevity hinge on how effectively the product and marketing teams are able to communicate with end-users. A recent Gallup poll found that organizations that leverage end-user data outperform peers by 85% in sales growth.
But what does it mean to become a data-centric organization? And how does data translate into real value for a brand?
5 Big Data stats that will convince your bossRedPixie

Big Data BlackOut: Are Utilities Powering Up Their Data Analytics?Capgemini
Analytics is seeing greater recognition amongst utility executives. Our research showed that 80% of utilities consider big data analytics as a source of new business opportunities and 75% see it as crucial for future success. Big Data indeed offers an exciting opportunity to transform utility operational effectiveness, while at the same time dealing with the historical problem of low customer satisfaction. Take operational efficiency alone. The annual cost of weather-related power outages to the U.S. economy is estimated to be between $18 billion to $33 billion. Organizations can use Big Data analytics to detect operational challenges and prevent outages, substantially reducing costs. Big Data also affords opportunities to utilities for inventing new business models through the data generated by the smart infrastructure.
The analytics opportunity for utilities is clear, but there continues to be a lack of real impetus and value delivery. Only 20% have already implemented big data analytics initiatives. What is putting the brakes on utilities?
In this paper, we highlight the big data opportunities that utilities can leverage and identify the challenges that are currently holding them back. We conclude the paper with concrete recommendations on how to ensure analytics drive business value.

There is little arguing the benefits and disruptive potential of Big Data. However, many organizations have not fully embedded Big Data in their operations. In fact, our research shows that only 13% have achieved full-scale production for their Big Data implementations. The most troubling development is that most organizations are failing to benefit from their investments. Only 27% of respondents described their Big Data initiatives as “successful” and only 8% described them as “very successful”.

A Digital Eurovision for European UnionRene Summer
A Digital Eurovision for the European Union – the next step for European Public Service Broadcasting without frontiers. Why and how we must increase the availability of public service broadcasting to the widest Pan-European use.
This paper aims to initiate a discussion in Europe about the future of mass media in relation to the possibilities that can be achieved through technological development and policy innovation to stimulate the rise of a Pan-European identity across the European Union. By classifying current affairs reporting (news, current affairs and documentaries) produced by/for public service broadcasters (PSB) to fall within the definition of Open Government Data, European policy makers will unlock access to a wealth of European PSB content for European citizens, journalists and new start-ups to access, interact with, aggregate and disseminate. Such policy innovation not only comes with the already acknowledged economic benefits associated with open data and data-driven innovation; it also helps stimulate the creation of a strong Pan-European identity through increased Pan-European access to national stories, news and identity projections.

Big Data for Marketing: When is Big Data the right choice?Swyx
Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) without plans for Big Data may be putting themselves and
their companies at a competitive disadvantage. Big Data is already being widely deployed to enhance marketing responsibilities, although the small number of widely-touted success stories might be masking a significant number of failed implementations. When correctly planned and implemented, however, Big Data can create significant value for CMOs and their organisations. In this paper, we focus on describing specific examples of how Big Data can support CMO responsibilities and developing frameworks for identifying Big Data opportunities.

Data Mining: The Top 3 Things You Need to Know to Achieve Business Improvemen...Dr. Cedric Alford
While companies have been using various CRM and automation technologies for many years to capture and retain traditional business data, these existing technologies were not built to handle the massive explosion in data that is occurring today. The shift started nearly 10 years ago with expanding usage of the internet and the introduction of social media. But the pace has accelerated in the past five years following the introduction of smart phones and digital devices such as tablets and GPS devices. The continued rise in these technologies is creating a constant increase in complex data on a daily basis.
The result? Many companies don't know how to get value and insights from the massive amounts of data they have today. Worse yet, many more are uncertain how to leverage this data glut for business advantage tomorrow. In this white paper, we will explore three important things to know about big data and how companies can achieve major business benefits and improvements through effective data mining of their own big data.
Dr. Cedric Alford provides a roadmap for organizations seeking to understand how to make Big Data actionable.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Let's dive deeper into the world of ODC! Ricardo Alves (OutSystems) will join us to tell all about the new Data Fabric. After that, Sezen de Bruijn (OutSystems) will get into the details on how to best design a sturdy architecture within ODC.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
