ISTE NETS Standards for
 Teachers: Evidence and
  Rationale Statements
           By: Holly Petrich
Certificate in Educational Technology
“It is the supreme art of the teacher to
awaken joy in creative expression and
               knowledge.”
            -Albert Einstein
Standard One: Facilitate and Inspire Student
            Learning and Creativity

• Teachers use their knowledge of subject
  matter, teaching and learning, and
  technology to facilitate experiences that
  advance student learning, creativity, and
innovation in both face-to-face and virtual
  environments.
Evidence
• Can You Hear Me Now? Prezi
  Presentation
• http://prezi
  .com/dxjkkouxrz30/can-you-hear-me-now/
Rationale
• This is a Prezi presentation that I created in my Using Digital Media
in Your Classroom class (EDU 6440) to show students what I
expected from an assignment for them. Students will choose an
invention they feel had the greatest influence on the 21st century and
create a digital presentation of their choice. I chose the cell phone as
my example for the invention that has had the greatest influence
because it is a topic that students can relate to. Being a social studies
teacher, this assignment has great value to students because they can
choose a topic that is important to them and present it in a way that
best reflects their learning style, maximizing my ability to assess
them in the best way possible.
Standard Two: Design and Develop Digital-Age
     Learning Experiences and Assessments

• Teachers design, develop, and evaluate
  authentic learning experiences and
  assessment incorporating contemporary
tools and resources to maximize content
learning in context and to develop the
  knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified
  in the NETS•S.
Evidence
• Diversity Pedagogy Dimensions Prezi
  Presentation
• http://prezi
  .com/wcy1lygm4nt4/diversity-pedagogy-dimen
Rationale
• This is a project I created in my Culturally
Responsive Teaching class (EDU 6777) detailing
  the eight diversity pedagogy dimensions,
including a pedagogical example of each. This
project helped me understand each of the eight
pedagogy dimensions by having me provide a
definition of each dimension and an example of
each dimension. I included a quote and an image
about each dimension to provide understanding
  from multiple intelligences.
Standard Three: Model Digital-Age Work and
                   Learning

• Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and
  work processes representative of an
innovative professional in a global and
  digital society.
Evidence
• Mrs. Petrich’s Class Blog
• http://mrspetrich.blogspot.com/
Rationale
• This is a class blog I created in my Using
Digital Media in Your Classroom class
(EDU 6440) that meets standard three
because I am collaborating with students,
  peers, parents, and community members
using digital tools and resources to support
  student success and innovation.
Standard Four: Promote and Model Digital
         Citizenship and Responsibility

• Teachers understand local and global
societal issues and responsibilities in an
evolving digital culture and exhibit legal
and ethical behavior in their professional
  practices.
Evidence
• Technology Integration Initiative:
  Preparing Teachers for Teaching about
  Internet Safety on Slideshare
  http://www.slideshare.net/hpetrich
  /technology-integration-initiative?from=share_
Rationale
• This is a Slideshare presentation I created
in my 21st Century Technologies in
Teaching class (EDU 6520). It includes my
vision, goals, and rationale for the plan. It
  also includes information on Internet
  safety, netiquette, cyberbullying, and how
to care for computers. This presentation
was created to help teachers and students
  use the Internet responsibly.
Standard Five: Engage in Professional Growth and
                  Leadership

• Teachers continuously improve their
  professional practice, model lifelong
learning, and exhibit leadership in their
  school and professional community by
  promoting and demonstrating the effective
use of digital tools and resources.
Evidence
• Educational Technology Plan Paper

                          Educational Technology Plan

EDU 6450 Leadership and Future Trends in Educational Technology

                                April 22, 2012

                            Professor James Amaral
Rationale
• This is an educational technology plan I created in my Leadership
and Future Trends in Educational Technology class (EDU 6450) for
Queen of Peace School in Cloquet, MN. There is no current plan in
place, so this plan was created from scratch and includes of goals for
the school, strengths and weaknesses of current hardware and
software, a timeline of the plan, a budget for the plan, who the
stakeholders are, a communication plan, a professional development
plan, best practices in student learning and technology, an evaluation
plan, and recommendations. This is evidence of leadership in a
school because I would be taking on a plan that would include
professional development for myself and other teachers and
discusses how to effectively implement digital tools in the classroom.
