Isaac Newton was a British physicist, mathematician, astronomer, theologian, and philosopher born in 1642. Some of his major accomplishments included formulating the laws of motion, discovering the universal law of gravitation, and developing calculus. Through experiments with prisms, Newton also demonstrated that white light is composed of the visible light spectrum.
