This document reviews the diagrid structural system used in tall buildings. It summarizes several previous studies that analyzed diagrid buildings through modeling and simulation. The studies compared diagrid buildings to conventional braced frame structures. The studies found that diagrid buildings experienced less lateral displacement, drift, and shear compared to conventional structures. Additionally, diagrid structures allow for more flexible interior layouts. The optimal diagrid angle was found to be between 56-72 degrees based on building height, with smaller angles performing better for taller buildings. Diagrid structures were also found to require 20% less steel than conventional moment frame buildings.
