Recognition rate of 89% and rejection rate of 95% is achieved.

The lung lobes and nodules in CT image are segmented using two stage approaches such as modified adaptive fissure sweep and adaptive thresholding. Initially pre-processing is used to remove the noise present in CT image using filter, then the fissure regions are located using adaptive fissure sweep technique, then histogram equalization and region growing is applied to refine the oblique fissure. Lung Nodules are segmented using thresholding. The comparative analysis of manual and automatic segmentation for fissure verification has been performed statistically. The analysis is made on 20 set of images.

Proposition of local automatic algorithm for landmark detection in 3D cephalo...journalBEEI
This study proposes a new contribution to solve the problem of automatic landmarks detection in three-dimensional cephalometry. 3D images obtained from CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) equipment were used for automatic identification of twelve landmarks. The proposed method is based on a local geometry and intensity criteria of skull structures. After the step of preprocessing and binarization, the algorithm segments the skull into three structures using the geometry information of nasal cavity and intensity information of the teeth. Each targeted landmark was detected using local geometrical information of the volume of interest containing this landmark. The ICC and confidence interval (95% CI) for each direction were 0, 91 (0.75 to 0.96) for x- direction; 0.92 (0.83 to 0.97) for y-direction; 0.92 (0.79 to 0.97) for z-direction. The mean error of detection was calculated using the Euclidian distance between the 3D coordinates of manually and automatically detected landmarks. The overall mean error of the algorithm was 2.76 mm with a standard deviation of 1.43 mm. Our proposed approach for automatic landmark identification in 3D cephalometric was capable of detecting 12 landmarks on 3D CBCT images which can be facilitate the use of 3D cephalometry to orthodontists.
A robust iris recognition method on adverse conditionsijcseit
As a stable biometric system, iris has recently attracted great attention among the researchers. However,
research is still needed to provide appropriate solutions to ensure the resistance of the system against error
factors. The present study has tried to apply a mask to the image so that the unexpected factors affecting
the location of the iris can be removed. So, pupil localization will be faster and robust. Then to locate the
exact location of the iris, a simple stage of boundary displacement due to the Canny edge detector has been
applied. Then, with searching left and right IRIS edge point, outer radios of IRIS will be detect. Through
the process of extracting the iris features, it has been sought to obtain the distinctive iris texture features by
using a discrete stationary wavelets transform 2-D (DSWT2). Using DSWT2 tool and symlet 4 wavelet,
distinctive features are extracted. To reduce the computational cost, the features obtained from the
application of the wavelet have been investigated and a feature selection procedure, using similarity
criteria, has been implemented. Finally, the iris matching has been performed using a semi-correlation
criterion. The accuracy of the proposed method for localization on CASIA-v1, CASIA-v3 is 99.73%,
98.24% and 97.04%, respectively. The accuracy of the feature extraction proposed method for CASIA3 iris
images database is 97.82%, which confirms the efficiency of the proposed method.

Daugman’s Rubber Sheet model is employed for irisnormalization and unwrapping, descriptive statistical
analysis of different feature detection operators is performed, features extracted is encoded using Haar
wavelets and for classification hammingdistance as a matching algorithm is used. The system was tested on
the UBIRIS database. The edge detection algorithm, Canny, is found to be the best one to extract most of
the iris texture. The success rate of feature detection using canny is 81%, False Accept Rate is 9% and
False Reject Rate is 10%.

the ageing society. Because healing of died retinal nerve fibers is not possible early detection and prevention is
essential. Robust, automated mass-screening will help to extend the symptom-free life of affected patients. We
devised a novel, automated, appearance based glaucoma classification system that does not depend on
segmentation based measurements. Our purely data-driven approach is applicable in large-scale screening
examinations. The proposed segmentation methods have been evaluated in a database of 650 images with optic
disc and optic cup boundaries manually marked by trained professionals. Our expected Experimental results
may be average overlapping error of 9.5% and 24.1% in optic disc and optic cup segmentation, respectively.

The proposed method has been tested with developed database of MR Images. From the test results, it is found that proposed method improves the convergence performance such as complexity in terms of number of iterations, delay and resource overhead as compared to conventional level set based segmentation

Abstract Detection of Liver cancer from CT images is an exigent task due to the reason that cancer impression in CT images are of very low in contrast and have indistinguishable edges. Indistinguishable edges are edges in which foreground and background are almost same. Image segmentation is used to extract desired anatomical structure from image. Image segmentation is the process of dividing the image into multiple regions. These regions are sometimes called region of interest (ROI). These ROI’s are used as informative inputs to further image processing e.g. feature extraction, selection and ultimately the classification of a disease. Thus an effective image segmentation is utmost important in medical images. In case of indistinguishable edges most segmentation techniques fails to detect edges. Edge based and region based active contour methods are most prevalent for image segmentation. Edge based technique works using gradient function and ultimately stopping function to detect edges , while region based uses average information inside and outside regions to control evolution and termination at edges. In this paper comparative analysis of edge based and region based active contour using level sets is done. When applying these methods on the CT images with an impression of liver cancer, it has been found that the edge based contour able to locate the desired edges more accurately. The quantitative and qualitative results comparison between two techniques has also been done. Results shows that edge based methods performs comparatively better than region based active contour using level set if number of iterations are controlled properly. One of the promising biometric recognition method is Iris recognition. This is because the iris texture provides many features such as freckles, coronas, stripes, furrows, crypts, etc. Those features are unique for different people and distinguishable. Such unique features in the anatomical structure of the iris make it
possible the differentiation among individuals. So during last year’s huge number of people have been
trying to improve its performance. In this article first different common steps for the Iris recognition system
is explained. Then a special type of neural network is used for recognition part. Experimental results show high accuracy can be obtained especially when the primary steps are done well.
VISUAL TRACKING USING PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATIONcscpconf
The problem of robust extraction of visual odometry from a sequence of images obtained by an
eye in hand camera configuration is addressed. A novel approach toward solving planar
template based tracking is proposed which performs a non-linear image alignment for
successful retrieval of camera transformations. In order to obtain global optimum a biometaheuristic
is used for optimization of similarity among the planar regions. The proposed
method is validated on image sequences with real as well as synthetic transformations and
found to be resilient to intensity variations. A comparative analysis of the various similarity
measures as well as various state-of-art methods reveal that the algorithm succeeds in tracking
the planar regions robustly and has good potential to be used in real applications.

Potholes though seem inconsequential, may cause accidents resulting in loss of human life. In this paper, we present an automated system to efficiently manage the potholes in a ward by deploying geotagging and image processing techniques that overcomes the drawbacks associated with the existing
survey-oriented systems. Image processing is used for identification of target pothole regions in the 2D
images using edge detection and morphological image processing operations. A method is developed to
accurately estimate the dimensions of the potholes from their images, analyze their area and depth,estimate the quantity of filling material required and therefore enabling pothole attendance on a priority basis. This will further enable the government official to have a fully automated system for e f f e c t i v e l y ma n a g i ng pothole related disasters.

Through a comparative analysis approach and eight weeks of data collection, the study addressed key research questions related to solar radiation patterns and optimal system design. The findings highlighted regions with heightened solar radiation levels, showcasing substantial potential for power generation and emphasizing the system's efficiency. Optimizing system design significantly boosted power generation, promoted renewable energy utilization, and enhanced energy storage capacity. Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
