This document describes the IR-CAP condition assessment program from Indian Register of Shipping. The IR-CAP survey provides a more detailed assessment of a ship's structure, machinery, and cargo systems than typical ESP or CAS surveys. It evaluates various components and rates them based on attributes like condition, wastage, and coating quality. The ratings are used to determine an overall CAP rating for hull, machinery, and cargo systems. The assessment considers repairs conducted and provides detailed reports for ship owners and other interested parties to evaluate the ship's condition and ability to operate without near-future repairs.

21. Predictive Testing
All machinery is subjected to predictive
testing, as applicable, to ensure no hidden
defects exist

•Used oil analysis
•IR ( Insulation Resistance) Measurement

The audit verifies that:
Maintenance routines are as per
manufacturer’s recommendations and good
engineering practice
Maintenance routines are carried out as per
schedule and records maintained
A good system of Inventory Control for
