Summary Of Hyperbole By Anzia Anzierska
Anzia Yezierska employs hyperbole and simile in her writing to effectively exaggerate the
feelings of shock, anguish and pain she feels when she encounters her former lover at a friend s
wedding. She sprinkles hyperbole throughout the text, especially in the resolution of the story,
where she describes an encounter with her ex boyfriend: I wanted to run away from him, but
everything in me rushed to him...Such a tearing, grinding pain was dragging me to the floor. She
also uses a simile in the introduction of the story, when briefly summarizing the encounter: The
sight of him was like an earthquake shaking me to pieces. This simile compares a powerful
earthquake to the discombobulating feeling of seeing a former love. These two literary

U.s. Securities And Exchange
The U.S. Securities and Exchange (SEC) was created in response to the 1929 stock market crash
which was responsible to monitor and regulate the stock market after the crash which led to the
Great Depression. Since the creation of U.S. Securities and Exchange agency multiple laws and
regulations were added to help maintain the balance and oversight of the exchanges and the stock
market. Additional laws and regulations have been added as a result in condition or incident
within the stock market, corporations, and securities. Several scandals since 2002 have led to an
increase of laws and regulations, these laws have led to controversial topics dealing with the costs
associated by enacting regulations. Are we over or under regulating, or... Show more content on

Costs are not only measured with the effects of the economy in mind, they are measured in how
they will affect people and their future.
The cost of under regulation can be detrimental to the future of securities. As our nation s
securities exchanges mature into global for profit competitors, there is even greater need for sound
market regulation. And the common interest of all Americans in a growing economy that produces
jobs, improves our standard of living, and protects the value of our savings means that all of the
SEC s actions must be taken with an eye toward promoting the capital formation that is necessary
to sustain economic growth. (www.sec.gov, n.d.) This statement, part of the SEC introduction,
describes the monumental task to regulate and manage investments for everyone. Costs associated
with under regulation can be measured in billions of dollars lost over the past decade in
businesses such as Enron, Tyco International, WorldCom, and many others. These corporations
misused laws and regulations by inflating earnings and bad corporate accounting practices. The
cost to investors was in the billions of dollars and led to onset of laws to include Sarbanes Oxley
Act of 2002, Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, and Jumpstart
Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act. As all these laws were enacted to protect investors, some
controversies arose outlining second and third order effects of imposed regulations. With all the

Transformative Leadership In Social Work
Transformative leadership is a leadership style that aids employees to make positive changes
within the organization while also guiding them to become successful future leaders. Part of
being a successful leader in the human services field means helping their social service workers
recognize that they are called upon to display specific characteristics that help guide and shape the
lives of the clients they serve. In order to assist clients successfully, social service workers must
learn and understand diversity and what it means to be self aware. In addition, social workers must
address their personal values, examine how they perceive the work they do and understand how this
perception affects other members of their staff. The text... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harry had been successful in the computer program, so much so that he stayed longer than the
allotted time that had been set for him. The length of time he stayed made it impossible for
others to enjoy the computer program. The solution to this issue was to have Harry become a

His hygiene issues prevented clients in the computer program from wanting to be tutored by
Harry and efforts to send him to the self care group had been unsuccessful. During the meeting,
there was a discussion about having to remove Harry from the program to make room for other
clients. However, pulling Harry from the program could cause him to regress. Because Angelina
perceived her work to be meaningful and rewarding, she worked hard to find a solution to Harry s
challenges. However, this perception affected the relationship with other staff because people
working in other departments lacked the same empathy for Angelina s client. For example, Nigel
Melegore, the assistant for health services showed impatience and voiced his irritation because he
felt mental illness had no bearing on someone s lack of hygienic practices (Burghardt Tolliver,

Analysis Of Relationships In S. E. Hinton s Rumble Fish
S.E. Hinton wrote the novel Rumble Fish to focus on the main protagonist, Rusty James, living
a rough childhood in a small town. While focusing mostly on him, she also dives deep into his
best friend Steve. Rusty and Steve have an interesting relationship which brings out the positives
and negatives in one another. Steve is the complete opposite of Rusty, yet the two are closer than
ever. Rusty and the Motorcycle Boy were getting ready to head downtown to go to some parties
and a bar. Rusty did not feel safe going alone with just the Motorcycle Boy so he wondered if
Steve would want to go. Rusty wanted Steve to go in case the Motorcycle Boy forgot I was with

Eardrum Perforation
Eardrum Perforation
An eardrum perforation is a puncture or tear in the eardrum. This is also called a ruptured eardrum.
The eardrum is a thin, round tissue inside your ear that separates the ear canal from the middle ear.
This is the tissue that detects sound and enables you to hear. An eardrumperforation can cause
discomfort and hearing loss. In most cases, the eardrum will heal without treatment and with little
or no permanent hearing loss.
CAUSES
Sudden pressure changes that happen in situations such as scuba diving or flying in an airplane.
Foreign objects in the ear.
Inserting a cotton tipped swab or any blunt object in the ear.
Loud noise.
Trauma to the ear.
Attempting to remove an object from the ear.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

If the eardrum does not heal, your health care provider may recommend a procedure to place a
patch over the eardrum or surgery to repair the eardrum.
HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Keep your ear dry. This will improve healing. Do not submerge your head under water until
healing is complete. Do not swim or dive until your health care provider approves. While bathing
or showering, protect the ear by using a waterproof earplug or by placing a piece of cotton covered
with petroleum jelly in the outer ear canal.
Take medicines only as directed by your health care provider.
Blow your nose gently, or avoid blowing it if possible. Forceful blowing increases the pressure in
the middle ear. This may cause further injury or may delay healing.
Resume normal activities when the perforation has healed. Your health care provider can let you
know when this has occurred.
Talk to your health care provider before flying on an airplane. Air travel is generally allowed with a
perforated eardrum.
Keep all follow up visits as directed by your health care provider. This is

Walmart In America
Walmart is the broadest and the most powerful company in the United States business history.
There low prices attracts and benefits millions of Americans. The documentary was trying to

there low prices. Walmart s 3400 stores have given a huge increase in the income. Walmart is

the companies across the corporate landscape. Because Walmart is really efficient internally, they

world of business and expanded themselves with great risks and those risks were all paid off by
the increase in the number of stock market and the money (over $256 billion) the make every year.
Furthermore, People have their own opinion about the issue over Walmart being better for
Americans. Some say it is a bad bargain and it is putting people out of work. But Walmart s good

How Did The Odyssey Influence Greek Culture
From having read The Epic of Gilgamesh before The Odyssey there are a few parallels that can
be seen between both books. Since The Odyssey was written nearly a thousand years after The
Epic of Gilgamesh I wondered what other influences were incorporated into The Odyssey. It s
mentioned within the Gods and Goddesses Documentary that Greece was constantly adapting its
religious views as a result of the constant invasions and cultural diffusion between other Ancient
civilizations at that time. The video then further states that the gods and goddesses of Greek culture
are not solely created by the Greeks themselves, but the people who migrate and assimilate into
their culture as well. It was after watching this video that I decided to start researching to see what
other influences are contained within The Odyssey.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the great poet Homer can t manifest every idea of the polytheistic religion of the Greeks by
himself. This type of story takes time and collaboration through multiple generations of Greek
culture and the diversity within this culture. Griffin further explains that Greek influence lies in the
ancient north from the Germanic, Celtic, Latin, and Iranian people. The Aryans being another
influence, brought along their language and religion. The Aryans were arguably the biggest
influence on Greek culture due to their access to trade routes with kingdoms of the east which
include Mesopotamia and Egypt. The plot of Odysseus is common among the ancient traditions
that influence Greek culture: The story of the hero who is dishonored and avenges himself on his
own companions, and the story of the hero whose wife is best by other men while he is away on
his adventures, so that he must return in time to reclaim her and take his vengeance, (Griffin,

Introduction
Enzymes are molecules that catalyzes a chemical reaction by either increasing or
decreasing the chemical reaction up to an extent. Inhibitors are substances which slows
down a chemical reaction by reducing the activity of either a catalyst, substrates or the
enzymes. Most of the enzymes are proteins. They lower the activation energy of a certain
chemical reaction. Activation energy is a certain amount of energy required for the
reactants to convert in to products. If they cross the energy barrier, they convert in to
products. So enzymes don t allow the substrates to cross the barrier by lowering the
activation energy. Enzyme s characteristic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hypothesis is an explanation for an observed phenomenon that can be tested. In this
experiment there are different factors affecting the enzyme activity like determining
baseline reaction kinetics, varying substrate concentration, effect of changing pH on
enzyme activity, and determining the effect of other factors on enzyme activity. Each factor
had a stated hypothesis like the enzyme activity will slow down for the substrate

If the microkernel has networking capabilities, there is also no principal objection in placing
those servers on remote machines (which run the same microkernel). 13. Q: Explain the principal
operation of a page based distributed shared memory system. A: Page based DSM makes use of
the virtual memory capabilities of an operating system. Whenever an application addresses a
memory location that is currently not mapped into the current physical memory, a page fault
occurs, giving the operating system control. The operating system can then locate the referred
page, transfer its content over the network, and map it to physical memory. At that point, the
application can continue. PROBLEM SOLUTIONS FOR CHAPTER 1 3 14. Q: What is the
reason for developing distributed shared memory systems? What do you see as the main problem
hindering efficient implementations? A: The main reason is that writing parallel and distributed
programs based on message passing primitives is much harder than being able to use shared
memory for communication. Efficiency of DSM systems is hindered by the fact, no matter what
you do, page transfers across the network need to take place. If pages are shared by different
processors, it is quite easy to get into a state similar to thrashing in virtual memory systems. In the
end, DSM systems can never be faster than message passing solutions, and will generally be

The Characteristics And Differences Of Sparta And Athens
In the world of the ancient Greeks, there were hundreds of states that composed the Peloponnesian
group that formed Greece. Among these states, there were two that stood more prominent and
dominant than all of the others: Sparta and Athens. These two titans of the Archaic periods left
lasting marks on history that still reverberate even to this day. In many ways, they were very
similar to each other, and in others, they could not be more contrasting.
Sparta was somewhat unique, in that they were ruled by two kings, and had political groups that
voted on policies. They had three major assemblies, an elder council known as the Gerousia, a
group of five magistrates known as the Ephors and a council of all Spartan men, called simply ...

Lastly, I will discuss If I were in Judie s position what goals, values, and beliefs would assist me in
my decision to leave or stay at this job and the consequences that could arise from my choices.
In this case study, it is apparent that Judie has high values as a nurse. Her goal has clearly been

Dickinson s main forms of syntactical variation in the poem revolve around her use of dashes and

Selective Enforcement. During the Prohibition period police were cracking down on speakeasies
and bootleggers and people smuggling alcohol across state lines. However when policewould make
these arrests the people being arrested were mostly of minority origins. Although poor whites from
the South did get arrested as well, most of the jails and prisons were made up of blacks, hispanics
and latinos. McGirr said that Uneven enforcement was the hidden reason the white, urbane upper
middle classcould laugh at the antics of Izzy Einstein and Moe Smith, while Mexicans, poor
European immigrants, African Americans, poor whites in the South, and the unlucky experienced
the full brunt of Prohibition enforcement s deadly reality (McGirr, 71).
This is an important sentence by McGirr because it helps extend her thesis more. What she is
saying with this is that because of this selective enforcement that the police did, they would not go
and bust a nightclub filled with the upper class and would let the urbane elite (McGirr, 71) get
away with drinking and distributing alcohol, even though it was illegal. Instead, the police would
go and bust the poor, lower class of minorities that were making and distributing alcohol.
In the South, poor African Americans and whites would work together to

Mamele Film Analysis
The 1938 film, Mamele, directed by Joseph Green and Konrad Tom is musical comedy drama
that portrays the life of Havche, a dutiful daughter who keeps her family intact after their mother
s death. Havche spends her day cleaning the house and providing food for her family members.
She is so caught up on doing household chores that she has little time for herself. More
importantly, the film emphasizes on Havche and her family, as she tries to be the mother and take
care of her family. Throughout the movie, we witness the struggles Havche overcomes by not
being appreciated for the sacrifices she makes. It isn t until she finds comfort from Schlesinger, a

Tradition tells us who we are. Although traditions are customs or beliefs from generation to
generation, breaking a tradition can have a positive outcome. For instance, Havche leaving the
family was a symbolism of giving up tradition. Havche was able to burst out of her bubble by
traveling the country with Schlesingers and doing what she wants to do. Without Havche, the
house is a mess: the dishes aren t washed, the furniture is ruined and dirty, and her siblings are seen
running around everywhere. Berel is seen gambling in bed with his friends and not even taking care
of his children. The positive side of Havche leaving is that the family realizes that Havche plays an
important role in the house. They finally realized that they cannot do anything without the help of
Havche. Although Havche loves spending time with only Schlesingers, she can t help but worry
about her family, which leads her to coming back. As Carlos Fuentes quotes, There is no creation
without tradition; the new is an inflection on a preceding form, novelty is always a variation on the
past. In conclusion, Havche leaving the family was an important instrument in transforming and

Lars Character Analysis
As a result from having Bianca and the support from his family and friends, Lars is able to fully
grow into a mature adult man. The gap between illusion and reality has been bridged, as Lars
realizes his true wants and needs after he creates and ultimately destroys Bianca. Lars is now
able to have intimate moments with people and be able to touch them without feeling pain. This
is most evident in the bowling scene with Margo. Margo invites him to go bowling with her, and
Lars comments that Bianca is unable to come because of a meeting. Usually, Lars would reject
any social gathering, especially without the accompaniment of Bianca, though this time he
accepts. Lars becomes a participant rather than just an observer. He realizes that he enjoyed his
time with Margo, however he tells her that he could never cheat on Bianca. Lars is still holding
on to Bianca s existence, but he feels that he may be ready to let go and have a relationship with
someone real. This scene is also where Lars allows himself to shed one of his layers and shake
Margo s hand a huge leap in his development. There is, however, a false thaw when it begins to
snow again, symbolizing that Lars is still not fully out of his shell, as long as Bianca exists. This
shows the main conflict between illusion and reality that Lars must be able to reconcile. In order
to have a relationship with someone real, he must let go of Bianca. The reading in the church in
the next scene is significant in Lars s development. The reading says, When I was a child, I spoke

Comfortable Classroom Atmosphere
How to Create a Comfortable Classroom Atmosphere?
Studying is frequently associated with struggling. For students, studying is their own choice made
after a careful consideration and checking the pros and cons. For kids, studying is what they are
obliged to do. They do not even understand the importance of education and do only what their
parents tell them. Frequently, they take education like a punishment or like an obligation that
brings them nothing but a plenty of negative emotions. However, a teacher can always change the
attitude of kids to the studying process. Creating a comfortable classroom atmosphere, a teacher can
motivate kids for better results.

It takes days and sometimes even weeks to find a mutual language with all kids. The prior task for
a teacher is to keep friendly and positive atmosphere no matter what happens. Using this approach,
the desired result will be reached in the shortest possible time. To fasten this process, follow the
basic strategies and tips that help re build the atmosphere into the most appropriate for effective
studying.
1.Never stay passive
All your efforts to create a comfortable atmosphere in your class have no sense if you stay
passive during the classes. Add dynamics to the way you behave in the classroom, do not be afraid
to make jokes and discuss with your students or schoolchildren the most complicated issues that are
interesting for them. Every time you prepare for a lesson, you need to remember that the theme and
ideas of these lessons should be interesting for kids. You need to find a way to present any
information in a way that will capture their attention. Active position of a teacher is a strong
motivation for kids and students. When they see how deeply you are interested in your subject,
they unintentionally adopt this attitude and also become

Censorship Of The Media By Herbert Foerstel
The British tradition of censoring speech and press to preserve governmental power and dignity
stems from the 1275 enactment of De Scandalis Magnatum, which initially imposed penalties for
any false talk about the king and later covered such expression about any government officials
[Foerstel, 1998: 4]
Censorship of the media as described by Herbert Foerstel took shape during the reign of King
Edward I. Ever since he made the decision to protect his government from the press the law has
continued to evolve, and while the regulations have since loosened to give the media freedom, the
idea behind the law remains constant. But can censorship be justified in a period, which by law
(Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998) offers the right to freedom of speech and acceptance of
opinion and interpretation?
Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions
and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority regardless
of frontiers. [HRA, 1998: Article 10]
Aims of content:
Establishing the advantages and disadvantages of censorship
Finding circumstances in which censorship can be justified in a democracy
Pointing out the dangers with censorship
To use examples, such as the Vietnam War and Page 3 to illustrate the first two points
Censorship is restrictions on communication flows imposed by the government rather than the

Organizational Change Model
Organizational Change Models Grand Canyon University: LDR 615 March 12, 2014
Organizational Change Models It is common knowledge by now that change is inevitable. It is
everywhere around us. Change can be fun, for example when a new version of the iPhone
comes out. However, when change affects what we do everyday, there usually is a lot of
skepticism and resistance to change involved. Apple employees were sure to feel enormous
pressure as the sales of iPhones skyrocketed. To implement change on an organizational scale it is
always a good idea to have a framework for building upon. Using change models can guide leaders
through organizational changes and help pave their way to the future. This article discusses and...

transition that we all go through as we experience change. One is Ending, Losing and Letting Go
that begin as the initial stage of transition when people are presented with a change. This is an
uncomfortable stage as people are forced to give up something that is familiar to them. It is
common to experience many types of emotion in this stage such as fear, denial, and anger. Stage
two is the Neutral Zone where it is not uncommon to see confusion, impatience and uncertainty.
Experiencing resentment, low morale, decreased productivity, anxiety and skepticism is often seen

disadvantages.
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) involves dispute resolution processes and techniques that
fall outside of the government judicial process. There has been moves against ADR in the past by
entities of many political parties and their associates, despite this, ADR has gained inclusive
acceptance among both the broad community and the legal profession in past years. In fact, many
courts now entail some parties to remedy to ADR of some type, usually mediation, before allowing
the parties cases to be tried. The increasing attractiveness of ADR can be clarified by the increasing

Normally Direct В‘negotiations , which aren t really a structured mechanism, initiate from one
party implementing a settlement on the other party instead that the parties continue by way of
negotiation to a consensual resolution. We can say that in Direct negotiations there is no third party
who assists the resolution process or imposes a resolution.
Both Conciliation and mediation initiate in an agreement among the disputants to call in the help
of a facilitator to aid in the structuring and conduct of settlement negotiations which will comprise,
as part of their nature, private consultations with each disputant. Usually no one has an authority to
impose a solution on the disputant this includes judges, arbitrators and facilitators. A third party

Stoning In The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
American author Matthew Scully once said, sometimes tradition and habit are just that, excuses to
leave things be, even when they are unjust and unworthy. . There are always traditions passed down
from generation to generation, without the knowledge of how they began or how they originated.
Some traditions are harmless and enhance the community; other traditions are outdated and cruel
that need to be modernized or discarded. Shirley Jackson uses symbolism such as the stoning of
people, the lotteryitself, and the black box in The Lottery to highlight how people blindly follow
traditions. Stoning is one of the earliest murder weapons used by humans as a form of social justice
within communities. This arrangement of punishment always occurs

there was some kind of change in genetics.

overproduce a hormone of growth. This puts her at the risk of cancer because cells divide fast,
which can cause tumors. Her kidneys are most at risk, because there were abnormalities in the

The civilization known as the Sumerians, developed in the Mesopotamia era, are considered to be
the first culture to become civilized. As the Sumerians settled in Mesopotamia, a class structure

shows the civilizationof the Sumerians was their ability to create progress in agricultural skills and

needs of religion, commerce and government . With the cuneiform system, the Sumerians were
able to record stories of their religion to be passed done to future generations. This was
important to the civilization as it ensured the values of their religion could be carried on. The
new writing system was also important to the civilization as it allowed people to keep track of

on the new cuneiform system as it gave them a new way to record laws and policies. With the

although TЕЌ no ChЕ«jЕЌ was very skillful in his dancing as if he had rehearsed many times,

expert painters brought in specifically for the competition. His paintings were renderings of Suma

King Asok Not More Than A Myth Essay
For a long time, King Asoka was thought to be nothing more than a myth. With several writings
concerning him, they all relayed too fantastical an image to be convincing as truthful, keeping
him in a legendary status. This all changed in 1837, well over a thousand years after his death,
when a scholar James Prinsep managed to translate writings on a stone pillar in Delhi. After
several other scholars raced to translate similar writings all over the Indian landscape, it was
revealed that this King Piyadasi was the same as King Asoka. Even with his history pieced
together, Asoka s history is still legendary. He started as a lowly person shunned by his own
father and grew to be a ruler of a kingdom that had never seen complete unity. But indeed, despite
the face of caring compassion he attempted to convey to the Indian people, and despite the reforms
he made to various sectors of his kingdom, it is clear Asoka was only using Buddhismas a way to
unite the people and, more importantly, keep them under his control. It is rumored that Asoka s
grandmother was a Greek princess, with his lineage being traced back to the Seleucus kingship,
and that his Asoka s grandmother would have told him stories of Alexander the Great and other
Greek warriors, inspiring Asoka and gearing him towards being the warrior he would become in
the Kalinga Wars. Asoka s mother is supposed to be the daughter of a Brahman, a Hindu priest. She
eventually married the King of India, one of the first of the

Organizational Changes That Effected The Group
I recently experienced a transition in my department during which my operational expectations
included working with my colleagues in a more team oriented approach.
Prior to the transition each individual in the department had an assigned business unit and provided
human resource guidance to their assigned areas. Although we all have the knowledge and skills to
accomplish that task, we were often completing it in different ways, which resulted in varied
responses and outcomes. We did have scheduled meetings do discuss any organizational changes
that effected the group. We would also discuss any unique scenarios to get feedback from the other
members that may have experienced similar situations. Our interactions were that of a work group,
we did not participate in any projects or objectives that required a joint effort. (Robbins, S.P., Judge,
T.A., 2009). This approach was ineffective for the organization as it had the potential to cause
confusion and inequities in some instances.
I had a change in leadership in my department. The new director began to pull our work group
into frequent meetings to discuss strategic initiatives and large scale issues and allowed up to
work collectively to find solutions, we had become a work team (Robbins, S.P., Judge, T.A.,
2009). This new approach did come with its own set of barriers. My team experienced the five
stages of group development including forming, storming, norming, performing and the fifth step

Further infrastructural developments in the future includes Khalifa port in Abu Dhabi, expansion
of Port Khalid in Sharjah, extensive goods rail networks connecting the GCC countries and other
Airport and Port expansions. This vigorous investment in the sector is essential due to same trend
prevailing among other GCC countries. This would further improve the market size and continue
growth in sector.

Symptoms Of Grief Research Paper
frequently, their conversations revolve around the deceased and they are preoccupied with the
deceased possessions as if they were coming back. Chronic grief can lead to physical and mental
illness in addition to being high risk for suicidal behavior.
Absent or delayed grief is when the bereaved shows no grief or the grief is delayed. The delay can
last for months or years and the bereaved acts as if the death of a loved one did not occur. At a
future date the bereaved may have a full grief reaction elicited by either a minor loss or someone
else s loss. Or they may experience an unexpected flood of emotions when they least expect.
Absent or delayed grief often occurs when a person is unable to take the time to grieve or if the

It s an emotional distress that one can feel when something or someone you love is taken away.
The greater the significance of loss, the more intense the grief will be. How you grieve depends
on several factors; your personality, coping style, your faith, and the nature of the loss. Grief
can be short term or long term. Short term would be a lack of desire to work or attend school.
Long term is persistent and disabling and depends on the type of loss. Grief, Types Of. (2009).
The grieving process takes time and healing will happen gradually. It s important to remember
there is no timetable for grieving. Loss is a part of life and grieving is a natural healing process.
Loewald thought that all of human development was based on loss and separation, and that the
death of someone we love is the occasion not only for mourning but for psychic growth. In fact,
he thought that the loss of a loved person may, for some, lead to a sense of mastery: a precursor to
the current concept of post traumatic growth, where a positive psychological change may occur as
a result of highly challenging life circumstances such as

Summary Of The Angel
The angel Gabriel then reveals to Mary his true purpose in his visit to her. Don t be frightened,
Mary, for God has decided to bless you! You will become pregnant and have a son, and you are to
name him Jesus (Luke 1:30 31). Gabriel then tells Mary that she will bear the Son of God and he
will reign over Israel forever. Gabriels final words are, For nothing is impossible with God (Luke
1: 37). Despite the awesome, unexpected, unbelievable spectacle before her, Mary was able to
accept that she would have a baby despite being a virgin. Mary responded, I am the Lord s
servant, and I am willing to accept whatever he wants. May everything you have said come true
(Luke 1:38). In her willing acceptance of God s plan the Annunciationis confirmed and the
Incarnation of Christ occurs. It was at this moment that, The Word was made flesh, as the John s
Gospel puts it (John 1:14) (Williamson 20). This painting of the Annunciation , about 1430 40, is
an example of Christian Art depicting the Annunciation and subsequent Incarnation of Christ

The Problem Of Child Labor Laws Essay
i.In developing countries, such as in India, child are are forced to work, often as the result of a
system of debt bondage where their family trades a small amount of money with an individual
and in return, their child is sent away to work, and some of these families will never see their
child again. Many of these children, due to the either the lack of regulation or as a result of a
country simply turning a blind eye to the reality of child labor that violates child labor laws . As
we saw in the video from class about the chocolate child labor farmers, many of these children
engage in backbreaking work, from sunrise to sunset, and as a result lose their childhood, their
ability to go to school, their ability to play with other kids, because of the debt bondage their
family agreed to. This is what was experienced by Iqbal Masih. As a four year old boy, his
parents sold him into debt bondage for 600 rupees, or less than $6, to an employer who owned a
carpet weaving business. Corsaro explains that child labor is especially desired in the carpet
weaving business because they can squat easily, and their nimble fingers can make the smallest,
tightest knots . He woke up before dawn and made his way, bound in chains, down to the factory
for work. He worked at that faculty for 6 years, working 12 hours a day, everyday. At the age of
ten, he found out that bonded labor was illegal, and tried to escape. After escaping, he made a
decision to help others like him, and as a result,

investigation. How did the failure of the Provisional Government allow for the rise of the
Bolsheviks? ii. Methods to be used. 1. Research for bibliography about the influence of the Tsar
during the Bolshevik Revolutions. Instruments used: History Reference books. Three main books
were particularly helpful: Three Whys of the Russian Revolution, The Russian Revolution, and
Rethinking the Russian Revolution. Writing of an annotated bibliography of the topic. 2. Selection

This caused each side to bring out their own armies and prepare for civil war. The liberals
brought out the old Tsarist Army to fight the Bolsheviks. The ideology between the dual powers
was almost illusionary, because it forced the cooperation of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat7.
The Provisional Government believed in a government that supported it s citizens without the use
of force, basically everything the Tsar was against. The Bolsheviks believed in a strong army,
and social equality. Since the Provisional Government had no immediate plans for the peasants,
the Bolsheviks decided that they needed immediate action against the Provisional Government.
The ideals each held were in stark contrast, and once the unifying goal of removing the Tsar was
achieved, the cooperation of the two governments began to disintegrate. 3. The Major Failures
The Provisional Government failed to solve the major problems confronting the country such as
the state of the country after the war, and the distribution of power8. The government did not
have a loyal army to help enforce it s power. This left a power vacuum, allowing the country to
enter a civil war. This caused the government to forfeit all of the support it received before the
1917 Revolution. It also failed either to contain by force the uprisings of a new

My Vacation Experience
The most incredible summer that I would never forget began on June 22, 2016. It was about
4:30 in the morning when my aunt and parents woke me up so we can catch our first flight at the
Richmond International Airport. This was my first time in nine years that I could go back to
China to visit my relatives and grandparents. On this trip, I was going with my Aunt Ying and
my grandmother because my parents were too busy with work to take me. Unfortunately, when
we arrived at the Richmond International Airport, it was too late to board our flight, so we had
to be rerouted to our destination. From there, we encountered more problems. For instance, the
flight to Dallas Fort Worth was too full so they had to reroute us to the Chicago O Hare Airport.
When we arrived in Chicago, we luckily had just enough time to catch our flight to Beijing, which
was fifteen hours! After an extensive flight, we arrived at the Beijing Capital Airport and we
realized that the aircraft we came on arrived a lot later than it was scheduled so we had no time to
get to our connecting flight. However, American Airlines offered us FREE hotels to spend the night
and told us that our new rerouted flight will be on Air China, which would be departing the next
morning. We came into the airport early the next morning realizing that the whole place was
crowded with people checking in bags and people standing in line for security checks. After an
hour or two of trying to get through security and check in, we

normal suburban dad, until one day his life turns upside down when two robbers kill his wife and

you feel the anger and hunger for revenge of this heartbroken father. Clyde Shelton and a
headstrong prosecutor Nick (Jamie Foxx), experience multiple attempts of premediated murder and
skillful payback. In the busy city of Philadelphia during the late 1990 s, the movie starts with what

when intruders violently raid their home. The father (Gerard Butler) is forced to watch his wife and

Natural and Sexual Selection of Vestigial and Wild Type Drosophila melanogaster
Abstract
In this experiment, vestigial flies as well as wild type flies were used to create some diversity as
well as test one of our hypotheses. Our hypotheses are as follows; 1) The wild type flies will
have a greater relative fitness compared to the vestigial flies based on only sexual selection. The
wild type has a relative fitness of 1 since it has fully functional wings. Vestigial Winged flies are
not as sexually appealing since their wings are not functional and the wing movement is a vital part
of their mating ritual. 2) The vestigial fly will have a greater relative fitness when considering both
sexual and natural selection. With the presence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the presence of natural selection (fly paper hanging from top of cage) posing a larger threat
to the wild flies b/c they can fly better, this will allow vestigial flies to prosper better.
Materials and Methods
To set up this experiment, two twenty five gallon aquariums, 3 petri dishes, 200 flies, rotten
bananas, and yeast were used. The bananas chosen to be an accelerant for the growth of the yeast
and were frozen so they would be easier to cut. The yeast was used because the drosophila
melanogaster prefer this as a food source. The vestigial and wild type flies were sexed (to
determine their sex), sorted, and counted. An initial population size of 100 total flies was
decided so that it would be easier to determine the phenotypic percentage of the total population.
Fly paper was placed in one of the sets of cages to impose a method of natural selection as well as
the sexual selection which is being solely tested by the other set of cages.
It was decided that there would be 80 vestigial flies and 20 wild type flies to total to an initial
population of 100 drosophila. Next, the flies were anesthetized flies using Fly Nap. The flies were
counted out to reach desired ratio, sexing the flies making sure there are equal amounts of males
and females to be sure there is ample individuals to allow successful mating. The fly s food was
prepared by taking a frozen rotten banana, cutting it in half, mashing up the banana meat, and
mixing yeast into it. The

A Simple Barcoding System Has Changed Inventory Management...
Introduction Throughout history, a simple barcoding system has changed inventory management
forever. As the United States Postal Service required barcoding to make the mail sorting process
more efficient, grocery stores had a huge need to manage the quantities of thousands of items. As
inventory management evolved, the barcoding spread throughout supply chain management aiding
in less waste, storage costs, process tracking throughout the manufacturing processes, and helped
improve customer satisfaction. This short paper will go over how businesses have used barcoding,
the history of barcoding and some of the newer technologies like Radio Frequency Identification
and Global Positioning Systems.

For the purpose of this paper, it will steer away from most of the historical facts and stick with
how they tracked letters and packages. ( The history of the United States Postal Service, n.d.) After
a drastic increased demand for the postal services, the Post Office was looking towards
technologies to help it automate processes with postal sorters, address readers and an advanced
coding system for the times. By the 1970 s, the gained confidence in the service, demands
increased even more. Again the USPS had to reach out to the latest and greatest technologies. It
was early in the 1980 s when the USPS first purchased and used its first computer driven, single
line Optical Character Reader (OCR) which converted all of the data into a barcode. This became a
huge money saver as forward post offices only had to have a less expensive barcode sorting system.
( The history of the United States Postal Service, n.d.) As technology aided in the efficiencies of
the scanning processes, the USPS started giving discounts to letters and packages that were pre
barcoded. Having the letters pre barcoded allowed for faster scanning, less manpower, and allowed
the letters to bypass the OCR scanners. By the year 2000, 59% of all letters were pre barcoded, a
drastic increase of only 7% being pre barcoded in 1990. By 2004, as technologies continued to
improve and were able to now process 9,500

Ghosts And Spirits By Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
Unfinished Business:
Ghosts and Spirits
The average person may think of ghosts and spirits as something disguised in a white sheet with
holes for eyes, a ragged figure dragging chains and moaning. In addition, something floating
through the air and that can enter and exit rooms without the need to open doors. This is an
example of the way ghosts and spirits are usually described in stories or depicted in movies. It
has been said that ghosts and spirits are souls that cannot pass into the next world or dimension
once they have died on earth. Although, truth be told that all ghosts and spirits have a purpose to
be able to travel through two different worlds, life and afterlife. Ghosts and spirits proves to be a
dominant symbol in the play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also not uncommon to meet former family at the time of death that delivers help to the
afterlife. All of these guides will normally always create a successful transition in and out of the
world. Pursuing this further, Elisabeth Kubler Ross describes that it is important to know that every
single human being, from the moment of birth until the moment when they make the transition and
end this physical existence, is in the presence of guides or guardian angels that will give you aid
to the transition from life after death . Basically, the psychopomp is another way to help the spirits
get through to the other side (animals, friends, former family and guardian angels). The
psychopomp is a person that is born with this talent in guiding with the transitions. It is also a skill
that can be leant, the primary function is not to reconnect the living with the dead, but to help the
spirits cross over.
Angels. Guardian angels. Spirit guides.
Angels, Guardian angels and spirit guides are really the good type of ghosts, althoughthey fit more
in the description of a spirit. In the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, angels are known as God
s messengers. Common Knowledge of angels also knows that they are sent by God to watch
over the human race, to guard and protect from danger, as well as to give humans signs to excel
in life. Statistics have shown that many people believe in angels. According to a poll of American

Summary Of Hyperbole By Anzia Anzierska Anzia Yezierska employs hyperbole and simile in her writing to effectively exaggerate the feelings of shock, anguish and pain she feels when she encounters her former lover at a friend s wedding. • 4. U.s. Securities And Exchange The U.S. Securities and Exchange (SEC) was created in response to the 1929 stock market crash which was responsible to monitor and regulate the stock market after the crash which led to the Great Depression. Costs are not only measured with the effects of the economy in mind, they are measured in how they will affect people and their future. The cost of under regulation can be detrimental to the future of securities. As our nation s securities exchanges mature into global for profit competitors, there is even greater need for sound market regulation. And the common interest of all Americans in a growing economy that produces jobs, improves our standard of living, and protects the value of our savings means that all of the SEC s actions must be taken with an eye toward promoting the capital formation that is necessary to sustain economic growth. (www.sec.gov, n.d.) This statement, part of the SEC introduction, describes the monumental task to regulate and manage investments for everyone. Costs associated with under regulation can be measured in billions of dollars lost over the past decade in businesses such as Enron, Tyco International, WorldCom, and many others. These corporations misused laws and regulations by inflating earnings and bad corporate accounting practices. The cost to investors was in the billions of dollars and led to onset of laws to include Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, and Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act. As all these laws were enacted to protect investors, some controversies arose outlining second and third order effects of imposed regulations. With all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The length of time he stayed made it impossible for others to enjoy the computer program. The solution to this issue was to have Harry become a tutor. However, due to Harry s mental illness, he was malodorous and refused to brush his teeth. His hygiene issues prevented clients in the computer program from wanting to be tutored by Harry and efforts to send him to the self care group had been unsuccessful. During the meeting, there was a discussion about having to remove Harry from the program to make room for other clients. However, pulling Harry from the program could cause him to regress. Because Angelina perceived her work to be meaningful and rewarding, she worked hard to find a solution to Harry s challenges. However, this perception affected the relationship with other staff because people working in other departments lacked the same empathy for Angelina s client. For example, Nigel Melegore, the assistant for health services showed impatience and voiced his irritation because he felt mental illness had no bearing on someone s lack of hygienic practices (Burghardt Tolliver, 2010, pp. 45 48). While bathing or showering, protect the ear by using a waterproof earplug or by placing a piece of cotton covered with petroleum jelly in the outer ear canal. Take medicines only as directed by your health care provider. Blow your nose gently, or avoid blowing it if possible. Forceful blowing increases the pressure in the middle ear. Since The Odyssey was written nearly a thousand years after The Epic of Gilgamesh I wondered what other influences were incorporated into The Odyssey. It s mentioned within the Gods and Goddesses Documentary that Greece was constantly adapting its religious views as a result of the constant invasions and cultural diffusion between other Ancient civilizations at that time. The video then further states that the gods and goddesses of Greek culture are not solely created by the Greeks themselves, but the people who migrate and assimilate into their culture as well. Q: Explain the principal operation of a page based distributed shared memory system. A: Page based DSM makes use of the virtual memory capabilities of an operating system. Whenever an application addresses a memory location that is currently not mapped into the current physical memory, a page fault occurs, giving the operating system control. The operating system can then locate the referred page, transfer its content over the network, and map it to physical memory. At that point, the application can continue. PROBLEM SOLUTIONS FOR CHAPTER 1 3 14. Q: What is the reason for developing distributed shared memory systems? What do you see as the main problem hindering efficient implementations? A: The main reason is that writing parallel and distributed programs based on message passing primitives is much harder than being able to use shared memory for communication. Efficiency of DSM systems is hindered by the fact, no matter what you do, page transfers across the network need to take place. If pages are shared by different processors, it is quite easy to get into a state similar to thrashing in virtual memory systems. In the end, DSM systems can never be faster than message passing solutions, and will generally be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will also identify conflicts that may arise from the values discussed. I this paper, I will also discuss what I feel Judie should do regarding this matter. Lastly, I will discuss If I were in Judie s position what goals, values, and beliefs would assist me in my decision to leave or stay at this job and the consequences that could arise from my choices. In this case study, it is apparent that Judie has high values as a nurse. Her goal has clearly been to always attend to her patients which is very rewarding to her. Judie has been a nurse manager on her unit for ten years. She is obviously a very loyal employee and is looked up to by her superiors. Being a nurse manager takes dedication and patience along with a lot of hard work, which are evident values that Judie holds. Judie also values her family, she is a good provider and it is important to her that her family sees her happy and not frustrated. Judie s is now in a situation where her values are being compromised and she has a big decision to make. My own personal values regarding this case would be similar to Judies. To elaborate, the second stanza of the poem, rife with rhyme, utilizes enjambment to further emphasize the seemingly endless investigation presented in the poem. The first three lines of the stanza, I turned my Being round and round / And paused at every pound / To ask the Owner s name , are devoid of any punctuation until the dash at the end of the third line. This emphasizes the feeling of disorientation noted in the previous paragraph, especially considering the rest of the poem is littered with dashes which force Dickinson s readers to slow their reading with no notice whatsoever. • 22. The War On Alcohol By Lisa Mcgirr In Lisa McGirr s book The War on Alcohol it is hard for the reader to pinpoint one central thesis. One thesis however, can be simply marked down to the title of one of her chapters entitled Selective Enforcement. During the Prohibition period police were cracking down on speakeasies and bootleggers and people smuggling alcohol across state lines. However when policewould make these arrests the people being arrested were mostly of minority origins. Although poor whites from the South did get arrested as well, most of the jails and prisons were made up of blacks, hispanics and latinos. McGirr said that Uneven enforcement was the hidden reason the white, urbane upper middle classcould laugh at the antics of Izzy Einstein and Moe Smith, while Mexicans, poor European immigrants, African Americans, poor whites in the South, and the unlucky experienced the full brunt of Prohibition enforcement s deadly reality (McGirr, 71). This is an important sentence by McGirr because it helps extend her thesis more. What she is saying with this is that because of this selective enforcement that the police did, they would not go and bust a nightclub filled with the upper class and would let the urbane elite (McGirr, 71) get away with drinking and distributing alcohol, even though it was illegal. Instead, the police would go and bust the poor, lower class of minorities that were making and distributing alcohol. In the South, poor African Americans and whites would work together to ... • 42. King Asok Not More Than A Myth Essay For a long time, King Asoka was thought to be nothing more than a myth. With several writings concerning him, they all relayed too fantastical an image to be convincing as truthful, keeping him in a legendary status. This all changed in 1837, well over a thousand years after his death, when a scholar James Prinsep managed to translate writings on a stone pillar in Delhi. After several other scholars raced to translate similar writings all over the Indian landscape, it was revealed that this King Piyadasi was the same as King Asoka. Even with his history pieced together, Asoka s history is still legendary. He started as a lowly person shunned by his own father and grew to be a ruler of a kingdom that had never seen complete unity. But indeed, despite the face of caring compassion he attempted to convey to the Indian people, and despite the reforms he made to various sectors of his kingdom, it is clear Asoka was only using Buddhismas a way to unite the people and, more importantly, keep them under his control. It is rumored that Asoka s grandmother was a Greek princess, with his lineage being traced back to the Seleucus kingship, and that his Asoka s grandmother would have told him stories of Alexander the Great and other Greek warriors, inspiring Asoka and gearing him towards being the warrior he would become in the Kalinga Wars. Our interactions were that of a work group, we did not participate in any projects or objectives that required a joint effort. (Robbins, S.P., Judge, T.A., 2009). The Problem Of Child Labor Laws Essay i.In developing countries, such as in India, child are are forced to work, often as the result of a system of debt bondage where their family trades a small amount of money with an individual and in return, their child is sent away to work, and some of these families will never see their child again. Many of these children, due to the either the lack of regulation or as a result of a country simply turning a blind eye to the reality of child labor that violates child labor laws . As we saw in the video from class about the chocolate child labor farmers, many of these children engage in backbreaking work, from sunrise to sunset, and as a result lose their childhood, their ability to go to school, their ability to play with other kids, because of the debt bondage their family agreed to. This is what was experienced by Iqbal Masih. As a four year old boy, his parents sold him into debt bondage for 600 rupees, or less than $6, to an employer who owned a carpet weaving business. Corsaro explains that child labor is especially desired in the carpet weaving business because they can squat easily, and their nimble fingers can make the smallest, tightest knots . He woke up before dawn and made his way, bound in chains, down to the factory for work. He worked at that faculty for 6 years, working 12 hours a day, everyday. At the age of ten, he found out that bonded labor was illegal, and tried to escape. After escaping, he made a decision to help others like him, and as a result, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Bolsheviks believed in a strong army, and social equality. Since the Provisional Government had no immediate plans for the peasants, the Bolsheviks decided that they needed immediate action against the Provisional Government. On this trip, I was going with my Aunt Ying and my grandmother because my parents were too busy with work to take me. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the Richmond International Airport, it was too late to board our flight, so we had to be rerouted to our destination. From there, we encountered more problems. When we arrived in Chicago, we luckily had just enough time to catch our flight to Beijing, which was fifteen hours! After an extensive flight, we arrived at the Beijing Capital Airport and we realized that the aircraft we came on arrived a lot later than it was scheduled so we had no time to get to our connecting flight. However, American Airlines offered us FREE hotels to spend the night and told us that our new rerouted flight will be on Air China, which would be departing the next morning. Natural and Sexual Selection of Vestigial and Wild Type Drosophila melanogaster Abstract In this experiment, vestigial flies as well as wild type flies were used to create some diversity as well as test one of our hypotheses. Our hypotheses are as follows; 1) The wild type flies will have a greater relative fitness compared to the vestigial flies based on only sexual selection. The wild type has a relative fitness of 1 since it has fully functional wings. Vestigial Winged flies are not as sexually appealing since their wings are not functional and the wing movement is a vital part of their mating ritual. 2) The vestigial fly will have a greater relative fitness when considering both sexual and natural selection. The bananas chosen to be an accelerant for the growth of the yeast and were frozen so they would be easier to cut. The yeast was used because the drosophila melanogaster prefer this as a food source. The vestigial and wild type flies were sexed (to determine their sex), sorted, and counted. After a drastic increased demand for the postal services, the Post Office was looking towards technologies to help it automate processes with postal sorters, address readers and an advanced coding system for the times. By the 1970 s, the gained confidence in the service, demands increased even more. Again the USPS had to reach out to the latest and greatest technologies. It was early in the 1980 s when the USPS first purchased and used its first computer driven, single line Optical Character Reader (OCR) which converted all of the data into a barcode. This became a huge money saver as forward post offices only had to have a less expensive barcode sorting system. ( The history of the United States Postal Service, n.d.) As technology aided in the efficiencies of the scanning processes, the USPS started giving discounts to letters and packages that were pre barcoded. Having the letters pre barcoded allowed for faster scanning, less manpower, and allowed the letters to bypass the OCR scanners. By the year 2000, 59% of all letters were pre barcoded, a drastic increase of only 7% being pre barcoded in 1990. By 2004, as technologies continued to improve and were able to now process 9,500 ...
