Carlos Martinez(LACNIC)
• Carlos showed some successful experiences.
• LACNIC developed ICAv6: (Key IPv6 Deployment
Progress Indicator), that adapts CISCO formula to
take into account planning stages for countries
starting to deploy IPv6.
• CISCO’s ratio depends on three metrics: IPv6-
enabled transit AS, IPv6 content and IPv6 users.
• LACNIC: the ratio of allocated v6 prefixes with
observed traffic to all allocations is added.

Kam Sze Yeung(Akamai)
• Akamai observes three drivers of IPv6 growth,
Content availability, Availability of IPv6 from access
network providers, and End-user device support.
• Akamai observes some IPv6-only deployment for
mobile networks with DNS64 + NAT64 and by-pass
expensive NAT44 infrastructure.
• Akamai publishes the State of the Internet Report
(SOTI) and shows some countries’ percentage of
requests over IPv6 to dual-stack sites on Akamai in
previous years.

6. Current Sri Lank Status presented by
Rohana Palliyaguru
(Sri Lanka Cert/CC)
• Sri Lanka has 10 ISPs.
• IPv6 working group established in 2011
develops the national IPv6 roadmap, including
the BGP advertisement, network traffic, user
readiness, DNS query from ccTLD over IPv6,
and Web services availability over IPv6.
• In the future, Sri Lanka Telecom will issue
CPEs with dual stack supported by default.

7. Current Korea Status presented by
Jean Ryu(KISA)
• Currently, in Korea, LTE mobile service has
more than 6 million IPv6 devices and CATV
service has 60,000 IPv6 subscribers.
• KISA measures IPv4 exhaustion, ISPs’ IPv6
deployment, and Contents’ IPv6 deployment.
• KISA also shows the statistics in Google, Cisco,
Akamai, APNIC, etc.

8. Current Japan Status presented by
Tomohiro Fujisaki (NTT)
• Many fixed-line ISPs have started the IPv6
service for both enterprise and consumer users.
• A few cellular carriers provide IPv6 connectivity.
• IPv6 ready Government’s services are increasing.
• Major mobile carriers, NTT Docomo, KDDI and
Softbank will start full IPv6 service in 2017.
• Large contents providers do not support IPv6 yet.
Some big content providers start to consider to
implement IPv6.

Ching-Heng Ku(TWNIC)
• Updated the status of the IPv6 upgrade in
Taiwan’s government, Academia, and ISPs.
• Updated the status of 3 common
measurement criteria: IPv6 allocation and BGP
advertisement , User Availability, Service
Availability.

• In addition to measurement results from the
public existing data sources, the results from
ccTLD DBs are also presented.
• LACNIC gives a possible answer to the
question: – Why is IPv6 deployment only slowly
progressing throughout LACNICs service region ?
• Different methodologies and criteria of
readiness measurement are very welcome.
