This document discusses a finite element analysis of a two cylinder crankshaft. A 3D model of a forged steel crankshaft was created in CATIA software and analyzed in ANSYS. Static structural analysis found that the maximum von Mises stress was 166.67 MPa for the original design and 110 MPa for the optimized design, below the allowable stress level. The maximum total deformation was 0.125mm. Fatigue analysis determined the life, damage, and safety factor of the crankshaft. Dynamic vibration analysis calculated the natural frequencies at different vibration modes. The study aimed to reduce stress and increase the life of the crankshaft through optimization of parameters like web thickness and fillet radius.
