What is digital marketing? 
In a simple way, the word digital is all 
about which more or less means electronic 
signals and so any medium that uses electronic 
signals can be termed as digital medium or 
electronic medium. 
So digital marketing can be defined as 
marketing or promotion of brands, products, 
services to the consumers by using any or all 
available forms of digital (electronic) mediums like 
internet, mobile, television and radio. This is the 
reason why digital marketing is also known 
as electronic marketing or simply e-marketing 
Digital Marketing =Internet Marketing + Mobile 
Marketing + Radio Marketing + TV Marketing
Digital marketing is marketing that makes use of 
electronic devices (computers) such as personal 
computers, smart phones, cell phones, tablets to 
engage with stakeholders. 
Digital marketing applies technologies or platforms 
such as websites, e-mail, apps (classic and mobile) 
and social networks. Digital marketing is often 
referred to as ‘online marketing’ or ‘internet 
marketing’. 
Social Media Marketing is a component of digital 
marketing.
Forms of Digital Marketing 
There are two form of digital marketing exist: 
 Pull Digital Marketing : In this, the consumer 
actively seeks the marketing content, often via web 
searches, through email,websites,blogs and more 
on. Users have to navigate to the website to view 
the content.SEO is one tactic used to increase the 
activity. 
 Push Digital Marketing: In this, the marketer 
sends a message without the recipient actively 
seeking the content, such as display advertising on 
websites and new blogs.
Benefits of Digital Marketing 
There are many benefits of using Digital Marketing over 
Traditional Marketing such as: 
Reduced cost-business can develop its online marketing strategy 
for very little cost and can potentially replace costly advertising 
channels such as Yellow Pages, television, radio and magazine. 
Level playing field: Any business can compete with any competitor 
regardless of size with a solid digital marketing strategy. 
Real time results: you don’t have to wait weeks for a boost to your 
business like you would have to waiting for a fax or form to be 
returned. You can see the numbers of visitors to your site and its 
subscribers increase, peak trading times, conversion rates and 
much more at the touch of a button.
Brand Development: A well maintained website with quality content 
targeting the needs and adding value to your target audience can provide 
significant value and lead generation opportunities. The same can be said 
for utilising social media channels and personalised email marketing. 
Far greater exposure: A Business can be seen anywhere in the world 
from one marketing campaign, the cost to do this using traditional methods 
would be considerable. If once the key word search content in your website 
is optimised you should see a long-term return on your investment and will 
be fairly low cost to maintain your ranking. 
Refinement of your strategy: Marketing online enables you to refine your 
strategy at any point in time and see any improvements or opportunities for 
further refinement almost instantaneously. 
Viral: In Online, using social media share buttons on your website, email 
and social media channels enables your message to be shared quickly, just 
look how effective it is for sharing breaking news. For example, in a 
facebook account any post that is shared can be spreaded within few 
minutes or hours. Risk management should be taken care.

In a simple way, the word digital is all about which more or less means electronic signals and so any medium that uses electronic signals can be termed as digital medium or electronic medium. So digital marketing can be defined as marketing or promotion of brands, products, services to the consumers by using any or all available forms of digital (electronic) mediums like internet, mobile, television and radio. This is the reason why digital marketing is also known as electronic marketing or simply e-marketing Digital Marketing =Internet Marketing + Mobile Marketing + Radio Marketing + TV Marketing

Users have to navigate to the website to view the content.SEO is one tactic used to increase the activity.  Push Digital Marketing: In this, the marketer sends a message without the recipient actively seeking the content, such as display advertising on websites and new blogs.
