Your Mission

The project will begin with the recruitment of project participants. Participating teachers will need to be upper elementary and middle school self-contained or language arts teachers. Each teacher will need to commit to attending a training session and completing a minimum of four podcasts during the school year. We hope they will create more, but four will be required. The teachers will be able to record students using digital audio recorders and computer software. We will be using inexpensive digital recorders and open source software, Audacity, to record and edit the sound files to produce the students podcast. We will then publish the podcast on the Internet and create a Really Simple Sydication (RSS) file for sharing the podcast via iTunes, Education Podcast Network and other appropriate podcasting sites. The goal of the training and support is to give teachers the technology skills they need to be able to independently continue the project in following years. We will start with a whole group training session, followed by classroom support, and technical support. We are rotating the podcasting by the teachers so classroom support can be offered to different teachers each week. As the project continues during the year the amount of classroom support and technical support will be reduced. By the end of the project the teachers will be able to implement the activities with no on site support.
