INTERNET
Variously defined, the Internet is basically the "network of networks", a set of
computer networks all over the world and linked together, they can access thousands
of users to provide each other binary information of various types definition.
Technically the most correct definition of the Internet is perhaps that of a federation
or a set of networks that can communicate using the set of TCP / IP protocols
"(MARTIGNAGO E.- PASTERIS V.-ROMAGNOLO St., Sixth Power, Apogee, Milan ,
1997).
Beyond the attempt to define it, we have been used several analogies to describe the
Internet; the most common is that of the local or national telephone networks which
together form a huge international network, of which many have a part, no one can
own it all; In fact it is said that the Internet is not anyone, though - because
everything works - everyone must keep the efficiency of their properties.
The word Internet, before even indicate an
electronic highway is primarily an English expression
formed by two words entire net (network), used to
describe a connection between two networks
(computer) via a gateway (via d ' access): is this
connection that allows any computer to a network
to communicate with any other computer in another
network.
To connect to the Internet must first connect with a modem,
our computer to a telephone line which in turn connects us,
always with a modem, the provider's computer.
The quality of a provider is measured in fact also the speed
with which its equipment allows us to gain access to the
Internet. The provider's modems are in turn connected to a big
computer is technically called host and that makes the relation
to the customer's computer server function (client).
In this way the client computer, as long as the connection with
the provider's host, comes to be physically part of the
network; You can then take advantage of all the services that
the Internet is able to offer, from e-mail to research on so-
called search engines, of course, up to the consultation of Web
pages.
