2. About the College
About the B.Com(E-Commerce)
E-Commerce is a modern business methodology that addresses the needs of organization, merchants and
consumers. It applies to the use of computer networks to search and retrieve information in support of
human and corporate decision making. The department of B.Com (E.Com) was started in the year 2001 as
evening college program. From 2007 onwards it started functioning as a day college program with the
sanction strength of 60.At present we have 178 students along with six trained faculty members who are
qualified with M.Phil. Ph.D, NET. Our Virtuous course curriculum is in par with the expectations of
ecommerce Industry and creates a platform for the students who wish to pursue their carrier in the field of
electroniccommerce.

About the B.Com(Accounting & Finance)
B.Com. (Accounting and Finance) program has been designed to educate accountants and finance professionals who
are prepared for a dynamic and changing world. The program was launched in the year 2011 as day college program
with the sanctioned students' strength of 60. At present we have 370 students along with ten faculty members who are
qualified with M.Phil. Ph.D, NET and SET specialised in accounting and finance area. . The Department of
Commerce (A&F) focus on laying strong foundations on Diverse accounting practices in corporate, non- corporate,
SMEsandBankingandInsurancesectors.
Sustainability is a paradigm for thinking about the future in which environmental, societal and economic
considerations are balanced in the pursuit of an improved quality of life. Sustainable economic growth is fiscal
development that attempts to satisfy the needs of humans but in a manner that sustains natural resources and the
environment for future generations. There are four dimensions to sustainable development – society, environment,
culture and economy – which are intertwined, not separate. Sustainable development is important for economic
growth because: (i) Environment must be conserved while development is taking place. (ii) Resources must be used in
such a way that something is conserved for future generations. (iii) The standard of living of all people must be raised.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted as a universal call to
actiontoendpoverty,protecttheplanet,andensurethat by 2030all peopleenjoypeaceandprosperity.
PSG College of Arts & Science, named after Philanthropist Shri. P. S. Govindasamy Naidu was established in
the year 1947, with a mission to set education on a noble perch accessible to all in pursuit of knowledge and
world class education. The College embodies a rich tradition of excellence in teaching and research and has
thus infused dynamism and knowledge to numerous learners over several decades, with utmost
commitment. PSGCAS offers Forty seven Undergraduate, Twenty-Eight Post graduate, Three PG Diploma
programmes and Research Programmes in Twenty four disciplines. PSGCAS, one of the foremost
Institutions of higher learning in Tamilnadu, was granted Autonomy (one among the nine Colleges in the
Country) by the UGC in 1978 during the first phase itself, while still being affiliated to Madras University. The
College was then affiliated to the Bharathiar University in 1982. The College is NAAC accredited; ISO
certified, Ranked under NIRF and is the recipient of many National and International awards and
recognitions.
