Vice Chancellor’s Message
19th August 2004 was the day when Hon'ble President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam inaugurated Shri Mata
Vaishno Devi University by engaging the first ever teaching class of this University. Since then the University has been striving
hard to establish as one of the finest technical universities of India. Located at a distance of 38 km from Jammu in a sprawling
campus of 400 acres of land in the serene surrounding of Trikuta and Shivalik hills, SMVDU has developed infrastructure at
par in excellence. Continuing with same spirit; I proudly mention that Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi, Hon'ble Prime
Minister of India addressed its 5th convocation on 19th April 2016 & Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon'ble President of India
addressed 6th Convocation on 18th April 2018. SMVDU has conferred Honoris Causa degrees on Leading Entrepreneurs &
Industrialists; Shri N. R. Narayanamurthy Ji, Chief Mentor Infosys; Shri Sunil Bharti Mittal Ji, Chairman Bharti
Enterprises and Shri Pawan Munjal Ji Chairman, MD and CEO, Hero Group. SMVDU is ranked "101” among top technical
Institutions of India in NIRF, MHRD-2022 ranking and in Band - Excellent in ARIIA Ranking-2021.
We understand that more than ever, the emphasis is on Institute-Industry Interaction and both the academia and the
Industry, participating in the same find it mutually beneficial. As such we have an obligation to address the full range of higher education namely:
teaching, learning, research and service to the community in the fields of Engineering, Management, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences. To achieve
this all, admissions to various programmes are based on all India merit of competitive or qualifying examinations and the faculty is actively engaged in
research and consultancy projects.
Last Decade changes and developments in technology and its intervention has disrupted the entire spectrum of human life, manufacturing and
business processes. We believe that education must evolve to keep pace with mighty changes occurring today in business, industry and society and create
more connections and stronger partnership with the global society in which we are embedded. Students must develop attributes and knowledge beyond
traditional constraints of the classroom. SMVDU encourages and suitably supports the faculty participation in various professionals activities for their
continuous learning & development and follows flexible curricula based on current trends and future needs necessary for fulfillment of this professional
mission.
Time has changed, specialization, Team Work and Time Management are the buzzwords in the corporate world. At SMVDU, we inculcate such
learning as habit in students. A galaxy of highly trained and dedicated faculty has created an interactive, learning and research oriented environment with a
strong emphasis on overall development of students. Successfully adopted IIT pattern of teaching and evaluation, state of the art laboratories, library and
other facilities give our students the necessary platform to become competent technocrats and managers capable of performing par excellence and prove to
be valuable team members.
I invite all the reputed recruiters from all the sectors in the Economy across pan-India to visit SMVDU for campus recruitments. I am confident
that with a little exposure under your guidance and tutelage these students will be empowered with pragmatic experience and prove to be long term assets.
I wish a great campus placement season 2021-22 for our students of passing out Batch-2022 and esteemed recruiters.

  • 3. Vice Chancellor’s Message 19th August 2004 was the day when Hon'ble President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam inaugurated Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University by engaging the first ever teaching class of this University. Since then the University has been striving hard to establish as one of the finest technical universities of India. Located at a distance of 38 km from Jammu in a sprawling campus of 400 acres of land in the serene surrounding of Trikuta and Shivalik hills, SMVDU has developed infrastructure at par in excellence. Continuing with same spirit; I proudly mention that Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India addressed its 5th convocation on 19th April 2016 & Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon'ble President of India addressed 6th Convocation on 18th April 2018. SMVDU has conferred Honoris Causa degrees on Leading Entrepreneurs & Industrialists; Shri N. R. Narayanamurthy Ji, Chief Mentor Infosys; Shri Sunil Bharti Mittal Ji, Chairman Bharti Enterprises and Shri Pawan Munjal Ji Chairman, MD and CEO, Hero Group. SMVDU is ranked "101” among top technical Institutions of India in NIRF, MHRD-2022 ranking and in Band - Excellent in ARIIA Ranking-2021. We understand that more than ever, the emphasis is on Institute-Industry Interaction and both the academia and the Industry, participating in the same find it mutually beneficial. As such we have an obligation to address the full range of higher education namely: teaching, learning, research and service to the community in the fields of Engineering, Management, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences. To achieve this all, admissions to various programmes are based on all India merit of competitive or qualifying examinations and the faculty is actively engaged in research and consultancy projects. Last Decade changes and developments in technology and its intervention has disrupted the entire spectrum of human life, manufacturing and business processes. We believe that education must evolve to keep pace with mighty changes occurring today in business, industry and society and create more connections and stronger partnership with the global society in which we are embedded. Students must develop attributes and knowledge beyond traditional constraints of the classroom. SMVDU encourages and suitably supports the faculty participation in various professionals activities for their continuous learning & development and follows flexible curricula based on current trends and future needs necessary for fulfillment of this professional mission. Time has changed, specialization, Team Work and Time Management are the buzzwords in the corporate world. At SMVDU, we inculcate such learning as habit in students. A galaxy of highly trained and dedicated faculty has created an interactive, learning and research oriented environment with a strong emphasis on overall development of students. Successfully adopted IIT pattern of teaching and evaluation, state of the art laboratories, library and other facilities give our students the necessary platform to become competent technocrats and managers capable of performing par excellence and prove to be valuable team members. I invite all the reputed recruiters from all the sectors in the Economy across pan-India to visit SMVDU for campus recruitments. I am confident that with a little exposure under your guidance and tutelage these students will be empowered with pragmatic experience and prove to be long term assets. I wish a great campus placement season 2021-22 for our students of passing out Batch-2022 and esteemed recruiters. Professor (Dr.) Ravindra Kumar Sinha Vice Chancellor
