1.0 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to my colleagues at Clement Wong
Architecture for guiding me throughout the duration of my entire internship, which was 8
weeks. Their constant guidance & support had taught me as well as allowed me to
experience the working environment of what I would call it as, “The architecture life”.
During my time interning here, I was definitely given a lot of opportunities and chances
to learn and develop new talents at professional skills. Our seniors were also always
there to answer our questions & help us along the way. “AS LONG AS WE ASK” to
what we want to do and learn, our seniors will try their best to guide us. They also like
giving us the more difficult tasks, though we might have complained, we now are
thankful for the things we’ve learnt and for the experiences we have gotten from
completing the tasks. Thanks to their guidance and mentorship, they were able to
encourage me to be professional during the entire internship programme.

2.0 INTRODUCTION
2.1 Module Objective
This internship is aimed at introducing students to the requirements, activities and
operations involved in working in architectural / construction practices. The purpose is to
facilitate the involvement of students in professional attachments to architectural
practices in order to develop an understanding of the general nature, principles and
procedure of law and legislation as applied to architectural drawings, especially the
Building by laws. Students will also be exposed to the process of authority submission
for various drawings from an architectural practice and the range of contract
documentation produced to support these drawings. Via a full-time internship
attachment, students will further appreciate the documentation and report writing skill
required of an employee in an architect’s firm.

Clement Wong started his own practice called Clement Wong Architecture in
2009 registered under the Board of Architect, Malaysia. His current work
include Eco-tech Vertical Farming in China; REHDA new headquarter in PJ;
several housing estate development and bungalows around Klang Valley
which emphasis on “green features” and sustainable designs including his own
home office retrofit. Clement Wong is also a Green Building Facilitator under
the newly formed Green Building Index rating tool specific for Malaysian
buildings.

The total required training period is 8 weeks, from January 3rd 2016 to March
3rd 2016, however I ended my training period at March 6th 2016.

Training Program Schedule
We are to do the projects that are given or requires upon our self and expected to be
self-discipline and to multitask our given task and to be completed on time without
procrastinating. Our given task didn’t have a rushing due date, but when one of our
colleague give us another task, we have to complete that new given task first, because
it’s near to dead line. That is why we have a lot of stuff to do and learn coming from it.

4.0 Project
4.1 Mix-Development on lot 3065 & 3085
Overview
Project: Mix-Development on lot 3065 & 3085
Site location: Sungai Penchala, Mukim, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Specification: Mix-used, Shopping Complex, Residential, Office, Public Gathering
Supervisor: Oilver Tan
Task: Technical drawing of fire-staircase ( Tender Drawing )
Mix-Development on lot 3065 &3085 is a project that is consisting of 500 units of
residential, 5 floor of basement carpark, and 2 floor of shopping complex. This high rise
features greenery and double volume of some units. This Mix-Development area of land
ranging from 3800𝑚2
to 3900𝑚2
of boundary line. The estimated prince to complete
building this high rise, cost round RM80,000,000. This project to scheduled to be
completed by the end of 2018. The current stage of his project is on the pile foundation,
and it already costed RM20,000,000. The total of number fire-escape/ staircase of this
building in the building are 8, and I have completed 5 of the drawing, thankful for my
colleague Winnie Ang ( Taylor’s intern ) for completed her first task fast, and her second
task for to assist me on this Technical drawing of fire-staircase. If it wasn’t for her, I think
that I will stuck on drawing this my whole intern. Our supervisor Oilver Tan was in-
charge of this project, and he taught us a lot. By drawing it so that the person who will
read it next understand it well. The gird-line way so, that if people want to look back the
staircase, they can just see back where the grid-line at. Most-important that is the stair-
case must basic on UBBL. So each step maximum of 180mm per rises.
On Day 1, that is what I did (Figure
4.1.1 ) and completed on the next day,
but later we found a problem that is each
rises are only 155mm that is very
following according to the floor plan step.
So that my supervisor told me to
decrease the number of step, and as
long as the match back the floor level,
then is fine. So, we decided to decrease
the number of step, and my new task to
make sure the floor plan step is correct
with the technical section. The below
image of staircase is I draw.

This is my first product work in my internship program. ( figure 4.1.2 ) This staircase is
staircase number 2. My supervisor told me to start from complicated one first so that the
next one will be more easily for me.

4.1.1 Learning Outcome:
After Completing this technical drawing of fire-escape staircase, given from my
supervisor Oilver Tan, I now managed to enhance my knowledge of the Fire-escape
staircase, and the UBBL of fire-escape staircase. Furthermore, now I have a better
understanding of how to do a technical drawing, basic on the UBBL step and railing.

For this project, it’s split into many part, due to it’s 500 acres. And all the work still on
proposal stage. And the total estimate development cost RM10,006,507,578.
4.2.1 Jewel of East Coast Malaysia
Overview
Project: Jewel of East Coast Malaysia
Site location: Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia
Specification: 500 acres

Task: Update the slide to 2017 version
For this task, I was assign to update the slide at latest as possible, due to some info are
out to date and some have new info regarding of it. This PowerPoint slide are mainly to
intro the bullet train from China to Malaysia, the distance and timing of it. And mainly it
informs the contractor to understand more and update why this location we planning to
built is the suitable spot.

4.2.2 Beachfront Villa

For this task, I was assign built the 3d model, repaint to other material, and make the 3d
model as simple as possible. So, that when we are doing the perspective view for the
master planning render. The building wouldn’t effect it. So that we can focus on what we
want too. This Beachfront Villa consist of 3 different style and design of the bungalow.
That is the 3d model I did, and make it as simple as possible. ( Figure 4.2.2.1 )

4.2.8 Learning Outcome
After Completing so many stuff for D’Marina project, I have learned how to do a
proposal PowerPoint slide better, and how does it attract the attention of the human.
Making 3D-model as simple as possible so that it can the master perspective view won’t
not look so irritating. And that Photoshop the image so that it will look better and to be
more presentable. Furthermore, now I have a better understanding of how to do a
Multitask better and to work in very efficiently way.

4.3 Lutheran Church
4.3.1 Gate Design Proposal 1

Site location: Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Task: Designing Gate
Lutheran Church is a project that is a public space for private realm. This Mix-
Development area of land ranging from 3155𝑚2
of boundary line. The estimated prince
to complete building this high rise, cost round RM8,000,000. But they reduce the cost to
RM6,000,000 so that the design of the building didn’t look as nice as what we had
present in the beginning. This project to scheduled to be completed by the end of
September 2017. For this is the first during my internship, I took a measurement tape,
and measure the site. So that our gate proposal can be basic on the site drawing. For
this Task, I was to do sketches, AutoCAD, SketchUP, and Photoshop.

September 2017. For this Task, I was to do sketches, AutoCAD, SketchUP, and
Photoshop. Proposal 2 include with the refuses compartment, and the letter box. Went
to revisit site again to measure the refuse compartment area.

After Completing so many different gate design proposals for Lutheran Church, I have
learned that how to do a better work in a proposals drawing, as in once we having a
meeting on site, a drawing and dimension must state it very clear so that people don’t
have to flip thru out the page just to find that single dimension, and working drawing that
is suppose to be more efficiently so that it will look more neat. Furthermore, now I have
a better understanding of how to a tender drawing that has to be properly organized.

Task: Emergency Lighting and Fire Wall
Mix-Development on PT7258 ( Johnny Ong ) is a project that is developing a shopping
complex. This Mix-Development area of land ranging from 12150𝑚2
of boundary line.
The estimated prince to complete building this high rise, cost round RM5,000,000. This
project to scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2017. Since it’s a Bomba
drawing, for this task I had to do is to know the UBBL fire wall, and Emergency Lighting

After Completing so this task, it helped me to understand more of a bomba drawing.
Furthermore, now I have a better understanding of how to a bomba drawing that has to
be properly organized.

4.5.1 Window schedule, bathroom detail.

Task: Update floor plan, elevation, 3d model, and washroom detail.
Jason Tan’s Bungalow is a project that is building a Private Bungalow. This Mix-
of boundary line. The estimated cost to
complete this bungalow round RM4,000,000. This project to scheduled to be completed
by the end of end of June 2018. The current stage it’s on now is pre-casting the
skeleton structure. For this task, I was assign to update the window schedule to the
elevation, and than update the 3d model, and after than update the washroom detail line
weight isn’t correct I was told to do that too.

Task: Going to site, and taking picture,
Lot 495, 41 Units 3 Storey Terrace House is a project that are developing a Terrace
Houses. The estimated cost to complete this bungalow round RM8,000,000. This
project to scheduled to be completed by the end of end of this year. For this task, I was
assign to go to site with my colleague, as she is also my supervisor for site visit. My
main job is the go and understand the feeling of having a meeting on site, and taking
picture as backup. Once we are back to the office, I will also try my best to do Client
Consultant Meeting (ccm), and Site Meeting (sm), even thought I know my
understanding is not as well as my supervisor, she is still willing to learn me do it, and
than teach me later about me.

Overview
Task: Plotting Construction Documents for Contractor
After Going to site, and typing out CCM, and SM, I know that going site is easy, bur
typing CCM and SM are hard because there are still a lot of element that I still didn’t
know off.

6.0 Conclusion
For the past 8 Week I have learned a lot that I couldn’t had learn in education, would
like to thank you Clement Wong Architecture colleague again, and thank ms, balkish for
spending your time to come visit us during your busy day.
