And when they failed (as big software projects often did), the consequences were typically dire for, not only organizations as a whole, but for many of the individuals involved. Today, by contrast, many software and the development projects have evolved toward a much more incremental, iterative, and experimental process that takes cues from the open source model which excuses (and even rewards) certain types of failure.
In this session, we’ll discuss how failure can be turned into a positive. This includes the organizational dynamics associated with tolerating uncertain outcomes, the need to define acceptable failure parameters, and the technical means by which experimentation can be automated in ways that amplify the positive while minimizing the effect of negative outcomes.

Platform Independent App design

The goal of this project was to create an isolated development environment using virtualization to address issues with cross-platform dependency and unwanted bugs. Initially, Docker was used but did not provide a suitable development platform. Vagrant was then implemented to simplify creation of virtual machines and allow installation of tools like Eclipse, Python and Java. This virtualized environment provides developers a scalable environment similar to production to replace unstable solutions. Future work includes building repositories, implementing Puppet, and containerizing applications.

Power Meter
Team 3 created a power meter device that displays energy usage statistics on a graphical interface to help users save time and money. They used a combination of agile and traditional project management for the new design. The team utilized an FPGA, Nios II, software, IP blocks, and outsourced consultants. Version control was done with TortoiseSVN and the code was organized into directories for C code, RTL code, documentation, and more. The team successfully interfaced the power monitoring chip with the FPGA and displayed data on an LCD but struggled with some interfaces and documentation.

Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.

Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

- 8. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Individuals can make appointments with office owners through this Interactive Office Scheduler made by Argos Semitech Will also display the current status of office owner(available, away, out to lunch… etc.) Can be updated weekly
- 9. CONTRIBUTION AND DIFFERENTIATION Demo projects from Terasic was the starting point Modified SOPC and Verilog entities All C-code manipulating the display and handling touch-sense is custom using pre- existing Terasic and Altera basic libraries
- 10. RETROSPECTIVE – ORIGINAL GOALS Create an office schedule and editor application Equip with webcam to verify appointment Use an external monitor with the DE-2 and a LCD touch screen.

- 13. PLANNING SUMMARY Unfortunately a projects lifecycle never goes as planned Ran into a few road blocks that required change in our project plan With scheduling conflicts and the progress we made each week the Microsoft Project plan ended up becoming useless
- 14. PLANNING SUMMARY CONTINUED Followed an agile project management methodology Bi-weekly sprints that produced a working product at the end of each sprint This approach helped in overcoming roadblocks and gave us flexibility when working on tasks
- 15. ROADBLOCKS Unable to output a resolution high enough that didn’t look pixelated using DE2 w/ monitor Decided to switch to the Terasic TPAD which uses a DE-115 and came assembled with a touch screen Stability Issues Verilog Implementation Time
- 16. WHAT WE LEARNED Overall the project was an enjoyable experience for the both of us It was fun to manage ourselves and watch the project grow each week Communication is important
- 17. TO FUTURE ESD’ERS Start early Keep the goals in mind Remember what your trying to achieve and manage your time accordingly
- 18. IF WE HAD TO DO IT AGAIN….. Would have started with the TPAD off the bat Did a better job documenting the project as we worked on it, instead of assembling majority of the documentation at the end of the quarter
- 19. FUTURE WORK Integrate the webcam Connect to a web server for automatic updating Proximity sensing to save power SD-card implementation
