Climate change today can be termed to be an issue that affects most parts of the world. It is shifting the patterns of food production and it is increasing the related risks like the catastrophic floods. The impact of climate change is global in the scope and in the scale is unprecedented. When proper and mitigation actions are not taken as early as now, the impact that the issue revolving around climate change will have in the future will be more difficult to handle. There has been an increase in the cases of diseases according to WHO statistics that are caused by climate change as a result of high temperatures [endnoteRef:2]The areas that experience climate change experience high atmospheric temperature, they rise very high during the day and fall very low at night. On the other side, the unpredicted rainfall in the different areas that experience climate change makes the farmer's calendar to be disrupted. When the rainfall is not consistent and affects the farmer’s calendar then the food supply will reduce and hence affect the population that depends on the food from farms. The effects that climate change poses on the globe are evident all over on the environment. The glacier has shrunk, the ice that is found on the river is breaking up very earlier, the plants and animals ranges have moved and shifted and the plants are flowering sooner than its normal. However, these effects have been predicted by the scientist and they have been looking at the effects like the loss of seas, the sea level are rising and are becoming longer and lastly, more intense heat waves have been experienced. The scientists have been developing new ways to help us to understand climate change then helps us to know the impact that climate change has today and, in the decades, to come. This understanding will help the decision makers to place climate change as one of the major challenges that are facing the world today. The impact that climate change has on crop production due to a doubling of the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosph.

Happy World Meteorological Day.
As you know this is my first celebration of World Meteorological Day as Secretary-General of
the World Meteorological Organization.
Previously, I also celebrated this day at the Argentinean Meteorological Service, because it is
a unique opportunity to increase awareness of who we are, what we do, and why we do it.
National Meteorological and Hydrological Services - WMO Members – are key players in our
fight against climate change. Indeed, the WMO community provides tools and knowledge on
both climate change mitigation and adaptation.
It is therefore fitting that the theme of this year’s World Meteorological Day is “At the
Frontline of Climate Action.”
Climate Action means different things to different people.
But all agree that it is indispensable. And it is urgent. And it is a call for everybody. We must
all pull in the same direction.
Our meteorological and hydrological communities gather, disseminate, and analyze weather, water, and environmental data. These are the basis for understanding what is happening
with climate now and how it has been changing.
We cannot manage what we do not measure, and this is where WMO is ideally placed. We
have a proud history of more than 150 years of sharing data and best practices. That is our
strength. We are building on that strength to provide information to support mitigation. For this reason, we launched the WMO’s Global Greenhouse Gas Watch. We need more measurements to support decision making and climate action. But mitigation is not enough. Adaptation is a MUST. For many, this is a matter of life and death. As a matter of priority, hydrometeorological services around the world are engaged in improving their early warning systems, which are the linchpin of adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
However, as of today, many countries are not able to provide these early warnings to protect
their people. This is why, as part of the global community, we embarked on the 'Early Warnings for All' initiative. Every person on Earth needs to have access to timely, authoritative, and life-saving weather and climate risk information by the end of 2027. Climate and weather affect nearly every single activity. For instance, renewable energy systems, including wind, solar and hydro-power; agricultural production; fisheries; transportation; health. Weather and climate information fuels economic growth. We need to do more to turn climate science into services. And we need to make these climate services
more accessible and to use them more efficiently.
On World Meteorological Day, National Meteorological and Hydrological Services take center stage. They are pivotal for risk reduction, development, adaptation, mitigation and
sustainability. We must ensure that their expertise feeds into high-level policy on climate action. As WMO
Secretary-General, I am committed to working together with each NHMS to make sure that this value cycle is impactful at national, regional and global levels. RELIEFWEB MYANMAR UPDATE MAY -JUNE 2018

The IPCC decided to develop a new Methodology Report on Short-Lived Climate Forcers during the AR7 cycle. Expert meetings were held to analyze existing methodologies, identify knowledge gaps, and develop category and species lists. A scoping meeting will take place in 2024 to determine the report outline, authors, and workplan. The report will be developed over several years and author meetings, with reviews by experts, governments, and the IPCC before final publication in 2027.

She discussed how the climate crisis will impact future young generations the most. While young scientists made up 63% of first-time authors for the IPCC's AR6 report, most recurring authors were from Europe and North America. Barriers to participation for European youth included the extensive travel required for in-person meetings. Seneviratne concluded it is essential to better involve young people by having them serve as authors, observers, and stakeholders, and by reducing demands for travel through more virtual meetings while continuing support for less developed countries.

Water polluted by dyestuffs compounds is a global threat to health and the environment; accordingly, we prepared a green novel sorbent chemical and Physical system from an algae, chitosan and chitosan nanoparticle and impregnated with algae with chitosan nanocomposite for the sorption of Malachite green dye from water. The algae with chitosan nanocomposite by a simple method and used as a recyclable and effective adsorbent for the removal of malachite green dye from aqueous solutions. Algae, chitosan, chitosan nanoparticle and algae with chitosan nanocomposite were characterized using different physicochemical methods. The functional groups and chemical compounds found in algae, chitosan, chitosan algae, chitosan nanoparticle, and chitosan nanoparticle with algae were identified using FTIR, SEM, and TGADTA/DTG techniques. The optimal adsorption conditions, different dosages, pH and Temperature the amount of algae with chitosan nanocomposite were determined. At optimized conditions and the batch equilibrium studies more than 99% of the dye was removed. The adsorption process data matched well kinetics showed that the reaction order for dye varied with pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order. Furthermore, the maximum adsorption capacity of the algae with chitosan nanocomposite toward malachite green dye reached as high as 15.5mg/g, respectively. Finally, multiple times reusing of algae with chitosan nanocomposite and removing dye from a real wastewater has made it a promising and attractive option for further practical applications.

Post pilot test and post remediation groundwater monitoring has included analyses of CVOCs, organic fatty acids, dissolved gases and QuantArray® -Chlor to quantify key microorganisms (e.g., Dehalococcoides, Dehalobacter, etc.) and functional genes (e.g., vinyl chloride reductase, methane monooxygenase, etc.) to assess potential for reductive dechlorination and aerobic cometabolism of CVOCs.
In 2022, the first commercial application of MetaArray™ was performed at the site. MetaArray™ utilizes statistical analysis, such as principal component analysis and multivariate analysis to provide evidence that reductive dechlorination is active or even that it is slowing. This creates actionable data allowing users to save money by making important site management decisions earlier.
The results of the MetaArray™ analysis’ support vector machine (SVM) identified groundwater monitoring wells with a 80% confidence that were characterized as either Limited for Reductive Decholorination or had a High Reductive Reduction Dechlorination potential. The results of MetaArray™ will be used to further optimize the site’s post remediation monitoring program for monitored natural attenuation.

Now a day’s individual knows very well about the relation between food consumption and disease prevalence. Humans have a diversity of microbes in the gut that together form the gut microflora. Probiotics are the health-promoting live microbial cells improve host health through gut and brain connection and fighting against harmful bacteria. Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus are the two bacterial genera which are considered to be probiotic. These good bacteria are facing challenges of viability. There are so many factors such as sensitivity to heat, pH, acidity, osmotic effect, mechanical shear, chemical components, freezing and storage time as well which affects the viability of probiotics in the dairy food matrix as well as in the gut. Multiple efforts have been done in the past and ongoing in present for these beneficial microbial population stability until their destination in the gut. One of a useful technique known as microencapsulation makes the probiotic effective in the diversified conditions and maintain these microbe’s community to the optimum level for achieving targeted benefits. Dairy products are found to be an ideal vehicle for probiotic incorporation. It has been seen that the encapsulated microbial cells show higher viability than the free cells in different processing and storage conditions as well as against bile salts in the gut. The incorporation of a 3DCSM and completion of HRSC provided a tool for enhanced, data-driven, decisions to support a change in remediation closure strategies. Currently, an approved pilot study has been obtained to shut-down the remediation systems (ISCO, P&T) and conduct a hydraulic study under non-pumping conditions. A separate micro-biological bench scale treatability study was competed that yielded positive results for an emerging innovative technology. As a result, a field pilot study has commenced with results expected in nine-twelve months. With the results of the hydraulic study, field pilot studies and an updated risk assessment leading site monitoring optimization cost lifecycle savings upwards of $15MM towards an alternatively evolved best available technology remediation closure strategy.

- Scientific assessments can be important resources for decision makers – but they have to be accessible to their audiences to serve their intended purposes. Decades of experience by many professionals went into incorporating communication best practices into the National Climate Assessment released in 2014.
- In a successful effort, all of these elements come together in an integrated whole in an iterative process. It’s Not Sequential! So often scientists write and then turn it over to coms people to “translate.” But this is Not a hand-off. It’s a conversation – or rather a long series of conversations that create a whole that is far more than the sum of its parts. The science is impeccable and credible. And working with communicators, it comes across in a way that is far more effective than has been the case in previous efforts. Mention uncertainty and confidence language. Mention stakeholder involvement. Integrated, iterative, and continuous.
- This slide illustrates examples of that kind of coming together. The imageis from a photojournalist who knows how to make a picture speak 1000 words. The selection of photographs was done by communication professionals using the latest knowledge on the effect of different kinds of photos. You’ll see a lot of people in these photos which were were largely absent from earlier efforts of this kind. The sentence on top led off the report and was the most widely quoted line in the assessment. The combination of photos like this and language like this communicates the first take home message: it’s happening now.
- The second overarching message is that climate change is affecting Americans. The bulk of the report illustrates those impacts in every region and sector.
- The third take home message is that there are important opportunities to tackle it, and the NCA illustrated some of those opportunities throughout. Clear language, images of people.
- Here’s an example of the global temperature record shown by decade average, making the point that it’s these longer term larger scale trends that define global warming, not what happens in any particular year. The last five decades have seen a progressive rise in the Earth’s average surface temperature. Bars show the difference between each decade’s average temperature and the overall average for 1901-2000.
- Sub set of broadcast ready graphics – further simplified, ready to go on air. While we were in the White House releasing the report at a press conference, President Obama was in the Rose Garden talking with broadcast meteorologists from around the country about the report, and our broadcast ready graphics were used in many of those segments. Here you can see them in use on the Today show where they were interspersed with the President’s interview with Al Roker.
