Tramp Satire
Uneven in shape, his derby cap rests upon his head at a point, only identified by his distinct
suspenders and coat. Air lightens his loose jeans, which appear to fix like an inflatable bunch at
his lower legs, where his larger than usual shoes oblige his feet to point outward, making him
waddle when he strolls. Adjusting himself, he conveys a bamboo stick that holds his stance.
Looking as if the once sweet life cruised him by, his clothing is worn out and his eyes dim,
however, his mustache is short and trimmed, and his air is consistently polite. But, his high conduct
is hitched with a freed feeling of opportunity and severance, dislodging him as an outcast dependent
just on his most human impulses. His appearance mirrors this station, giving... Show more content

The question is not whether the nation is wet or dry, Chaplin stated, however whether the nation
is famished or encouraged. His worries are mankind and its reality inside the world where
workers become dehumanized machines working for industry. This is most clearly displayed
when he is made distraught by the dullness of fixing jolts, jumps into a port where his body
moves easily among the precision of riggings inside. His body is twisting to fit each ebb and
flow, he turns into a pinion in the wheels of industry. When he develops again on the
manufacturing plant floor, his frenzy sends him into an offbeat skip, splashing oil in laborers
confronts, curving his wrenches on everything in sight that looks like a jolt. Outside the production
line, the Tramp spots a lady with prominently large bosoms punctuated by shock like catches. He

Mistakes, everyone makes them, but what if not all mistakes were bad. Mistakes are a key point
in discovery. Most things that are used in people s everyday lives are mistakes. For example,
microwaves and gravity were both discovered by mistakes. Mistake aren t always good and
sometimes mistakes can cause major damage. Sometimes mistakes can can end up bad, but it s
worth the risk.

Factors of Success
Introduction and objectives The overall objective of this individual assignment is targeted in two
separate, yet strongly interrelated sections. Our first task is concerned with one inspiring
entrepreneurial story and its reasons for success. Furthermore, other factors for success will be
discussed, in the light of relevant literature. Additionally, I will identify the personal takeaways I
can take from it. To support this, I also intend to explain the logic used to identify these takeaways.
Other interesting details of this entrepreneurial story, but not relevant for the main critical analysis,
will be placed in the appendix. Following this, using two different personal entrepreneurial
assessment tests, I will evaluate my own... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the previous page, some ideas were depicted, in order to frame Cordys and Jan Baan s reasons
for success into a common framework. This shows the connection between an awareness of new
emerging trends in the software industry and Baan s personal characteristics. Having set this
framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the
reasons for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an
opportunistic personal trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan
Baan has always been ready to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23;
Eppink 2010). This burning desire for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan
Company in the past, and Cordys nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to
be trend setters and not followers (Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan
detected that the software industry required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010).
Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland
2010). Furthermore supportive networks developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns
2007, p70). Interestingly, this was also true for Jan Baan, who in early stages involved his brother,
and simultaneously built up a close network in his home country, the Netherlands. Hence, from the
last paragraph, as a

Exploring The Use Of Sign Language In A Deaf Community
Deaf people around the world communicate using sign language as distinct from spoken language
in their everyday lives. A Sign Language is a visual language that uses a system of manual, facial
and body movements as the means of communication. Sign language is not a universal language,
and different sign languages are used in different countries, like the many spoken languages all over
the world. Hundreds of sign languages are in used around the world, such as Indonesian Sign

Descriptive Essay About Carlie Phillie
Phillie s All throughout the world there are so many different places to reside. Los Angeles,
Boston, and New York, yet I chose Bonkville, Alabama? Bonkville is a small town with one main
street that has a population of merely 432; however, there is one person in that 432 that still keeps
me around, as this is where the story begins. As a kid, I had a wonderful life. Even though
Bonkville is the size of an ant compared to most cities in the world, it is beautiful. We live about
one hour from the beach; yet, we have thick forests and wildlife everywhere around us. It really is
like the best of both worlds. At my house I lived with my mom, dad, and sister Betty. We went to
Bonkville Elementary and High School. As probably assumed, we had the same kids in our class
kindergarten through senior year, and with that we were all ready to get out of that town in the
end; however, during senior year, I decided I would be okay if I never left.
At the beginning of my senior year of high school, I began to like a girl named Shelley. Shelley
started to change my life as she was the most wonderful girl that I d ever met. She had the
prettiest smile and could lighten up any room. We dated all throughout senior year but toward the
end things got rocky. Shelley wanted to live her life and go college and I still wanted to be with
her, but it didn t matter. Shelley broke up with me August 23, 1987, on the last day of high school.
This date will forever stick with my mind, as this is the

Analysis of the Poem Crossings, by Judith Ortiz Cofer
The theme of poem Crossings, by Judith Ortiz Cofer is evaluating and reacting upon the tough
decisions that come up in life. The cracks represent the flaws you can find and the inevitable
accidents that will occur. But each day more and more fissures / crisscross your path, and like
the lines/ on your palms, they mean something. (6 8) These lines show that each days more
incidents and troubles, the fissures , will come up in your life, the bad things will happen in
your life time, crisscross your path, and like the lines on your palms, they mean something,
however, every time you experience a bad accident or disaster, which it seems at the time, you
will learn something. It also seems like fate is a big theme in this piece and the human reaction
to fate s doings. On lines 8 and 9, on your palms, they mean something/ you cannot decipher,
shows fate s working in manufacturing these cracks. What they incidents mean, or what you can
learn from them however, is still a mystery because it is brought on by fate, such as the example
of lines on your palms, and how some people believe they are a representation of one s future.
The lines Finally you must choose between / standing still in the one solid spot / you have found,
or you keep moving / and take the risk: / Break your mother s back. (10 14) show the choices
humans have to make in relation to the events brought on like fate. This poem describes that like in

King Tutankhamun s Role In Ancient Egyptian Civilization
Introduction paragraph 1
Ancient Egyptian civilisation were located along in the tomb of pharaohs and was discovered in
1922 by Howard carter, uncovering king Tutankhamun s tomb played an immense role in
discovering ancient Egyptian civilisation. The discovery of king Tutankhamun s death mask has
been significant for improving modern understanding of Egyptian civilisation to a substantial
extent, this is because the tomb of king Tutankhamun reveals how Egyptian civilisation believed in
life, death and the afterlife. All of this can be seen through the analysis of the context, purpose and

The Characters Of Sherlock Holmes
It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit
theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes) This is one of
the many lines in Arthur Conan Doyle s Sherlock Holmes Mysteries. Conan Doyle, born in May of
1859, published the first Sherlock Holmesmystery, A Study in Scarlet, in 1887. When he died in
July of 1930 there were 4 novels as well as 56 short stories that featured Holmes. Even though
some of the plots throughout the series are unrealistic many of the cultural details are real. Doyle
describes London in a great amount of detail, including the smog that fell upon the city. For
example, some of the locations Doyle writes about are in fact real places; some of the characters
are based off people he knew in his life, and throughout the novels and stories there are many
weapons and ammo that were actually used in the nineteenth century.
Inspiration for the Characters
Conan Doyle was attending medical school at the University of Edinburgh when he met Dr.
Joseph Bell, his professor. Bell was a lecturer and an excellent surgeon. He wrote many scientific
books and was even Queen Victoria s personal surgeon whenever she came to Scotland. However,
what made Bell so amazing was his ability to connect with his patients. He would astonish his
students by being able to determine a patient s occupation and other personal details simply by
observing them. After Sir Doyle graduated medical

Staffing System For A Job
Maria Romano MGE 629 HW#3 Chapter #7 1.Imagine and describe a staffing system for a job in
which no measures are used A staffing system for a job in which no measures are used would be
virtually impossible. Measurement is the key in staffing organizations, as it is a method used
for assessing aspects within the organization. A system without methods would have no efficient
method for determining a framework in the process of selection. 2.Describe how you might go
about determining scores for applicants responses to (a) interview questions, (b) letters of
recommendation, and (c) questions about previous work experience. To determine scores for
qualitative responses such as interview questions, letters of recommendations and previous
work experience questions, a scale would have to be created. To determine these scores, the
answers would have to be looked at subjectively by the reviewer and given a number on a rating
scale. Once the answers are given a numerical value, the total score can be compared to other
applicants scores to determine who may be more valuable to the company. 3.Give examples of
when you would want the following for a written job knowledge test: (a) a low coefficient alpha
(e.g., a=.35) and (b) a low test retest reliability. A low coefficient alpha represents a low reliability
measure, showing that there is a decreased correlation between items on the test measure. A
company would want a low coefficient alpha level if they were trying to prove

The attacks of September 11, 2001 on the World Trade Center triggered the passing of the USA
Patriot Act to deter and punish terrorist acts in the United States and around the world, to enhance
law enforcement investigatory tools, and for other purposes. 1 It passed quickly and with little
debate. Soon, encryption of information became a topic to address and efforts took place to allow
the government backdoor access to anything encrypted by products developed within the United
States. This generated much controversy and was opposed by many organizations. It did not take

The 9/11 attacks slowed things down, and it did not take long for Congress to respond. Two days
after the attacks, Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire stated the need to get the information that
allows (the government) to anticipate and prevent what occurred and that encryption makers have
as much at risk as we have at risk as a nation and should understand that as a matter of citizenship,
they have an obligation to include decryption methods for government agents. 4 The effects of the
tragedy in Congress understandably took shape. One month later, the Patriot Act was passed with
overwhelming majorities in the House and Senate after the attacks (339 79 and 96 1 respectively).5
As stated in the introduction, one of the major topics of the bill is to enhance law enforcement
investigatory tools. The bill did not explicitly contain any cryptography provisions, but it would not
take long for that topic to be addressed. With Gregg s intentions known and the Patriot Act taking
effect, supporters for encryption had to respond immediately.
One major supporter against these encryption proposals were co chairs Barbara Simon and Eugene

Ancient Greek Sculpture During The Archaic Period
Greek Sculptures
The Greeks are known to have taken the art of sculpture making to a whole new level of precision,
intricacy and proportion, especially in the human anatomy field. They gained their first inspiration
from commemorative art of Ancient Egypt, some Middle Eastern Countries, and Persia.
They tended to use bronze and clay in the early ages, but after the 6th century BCE, marble was
used as their main material for sculptures, as it has high workability and ability to be refined and
altered.
Archaic Period

The Golden Age
The Golden Aged rose, and with it came a more refined approach to the art of Sculpting,
specifically in the deception of the human body.
The subject matter of these sculptures was mainly the portrayal of religion, mythological creatures,
and legends or important people in society. This was because the Greeks relayed more on their art
to document their present.
The sculptures featured more flexibility unlike the stiffly positioned Archaic ones , accurate human
proportions, and paid more attention to small details in the body such as muscles, veins, skin flaws,
etc. This helped create much more smooth and realistic interpretations.
Bronze sculptures took a rise for a while, as bronze had much more flexibility than marble, and
allowed the sculptor to create more body positions. Unfortunately, bronze was majorily used at that
time for weapon creation and was quickly cancelled

However, In The Lammas Hireling , the poet takes advantage of the first person point of view, as
it s fable like form allows ongoing themes of fantasy and strong emotion to develop. This technique
of first person immediately acts as a hook for any reader, as the direct account in the form of a
memory, allows for a raw psychological depth to be added to the stanzas. This truthful account of
the first person narrative is thoroughly successful, as it allows us to see and understand the graphic
imagery produced by the narrator therefore presenting the reader with a vivid insight into the
fascinating and intricate world of the narrators mind. However, rather than through vocabulary
Doshi is able to use the first person narrative to further enforce the complex relationship with the
narrator and their mother, who is the deliverer . The very much bland tone and basic language, full
of simple sentences, is lacking description on the whole, which only adds to the dull, thudding
rhythm of the poem. This rhythm is highlighted with the single syllable verbs that thud through the
stanzas, creating a harsh and unforgiving impact on the sentences. This constantly

Secrets and Style of Sir Poe Gothic fiction is the strange, dark, spooky, and supernatural writing
style loved by readers of all ages. Most of the stories written in the Gothic style were centered in
the gothic medieval period. Several renowned books like The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston

Poe was one well known Gothic writer and poet from the early eighteen hundreds; he was

Therefore, the metaphors used by Poe supports the sinister mood of the short story and poem.
Diction, or word choice, is also used in The Tell Tale Heart and The Raven to indirectly
characterize the narrator and speaker. The narrator of The Tell Tale Heart, upon spying the
vulture eye of the old man, depicts it as all a dull blue, with a hideous veil over [the eye] that
chilled the very marrow in [his] bones (Poe 355). Through using the word hideous and the
phrase chilled the very marrow in [his] bones , the narrator blatantly reveals his wariness
towards the old man s eye. The narrator feels threatened by the eye, which indirectly
characterizes him as insane because it is unnatural for people to feel terrorized by appearance.
Additionally, the speaker in The Raven claims that while he dreams about Lenore in the
presence of the raven, the air [grows] denser, perfumed from an unseen censer / Swung by
Seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor (Poe 79, 80). Censer and Seraphim are two
words that express the speaker s longing for Lenore, as a censer is a covered incense burner
usually used in funerals, and Seraphim is an order of angels from Heaven. The reference to angels
and funerals indirectly characterizes the speaker as

Essay On The Trail Of Tears
Along the Trail of Tears The Trail of Tears played a part in what is known as the Manifest
Destiny, which was the expansion of the colonists to the west. Gold was found on the Cherokee
land during the Georgia Gold Rush. The greed that it created was one of the leading causes of the
Trail of Tears where thousands of Native Americans were forcibly relocated from their native lands
(Cherokee.org). Little did the Native Americans realize that the new nation that was going to be
forming around them would affect not only their lives but the lives of their descendants. Even
though the Cherokee made efforts to keep their land through the court system and even attempted to
assimilate to the American way of life it was to no avail. They tried to agree to treaties with the
United States Government. Even though, they were eventually forced to leave their lands. By
forcing the Native Americans to abandon their homes, robbing their lands, taking their freedom, and
forcing them to adapt and to assimilate into a new land and culture showed how vindictive
President Andrew Jacksonwas regarding the Native Americans. The Trail of Tears
was an instance of
the United States Government committing genocide against the Native Americans
Until 1828, the federal government agreed that Cherokee had rights to their land, but when Andrew
Jackson was elected President, that all ended. Jackson refused to believe that the tribes were

The game of netball originated back in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts, when a 30 year old
Canadian immigrant named Dr James Naismith, was asked to invent a female game of basketball
after inventing the male version of basketball and having success in the male version of the sport.
When the female version of basketball was first introduced, women used broomsticks for goal posts
and http://netball.com.au/wp content/uploads/2013/09/1_11181l.jpg brown paper paper bags for
nets, playing the game on grassed areas. The rules and game of netball evolved when the women
playing the female version of basketball found that their long skirts, pulled in waists and button up
shoes made running difficult and their long shirts restricted the movement in their arms making
dribbling and their limited amount of strength made long passes challenging. They later adapted the
sports of basketball to accommodate to these restrictions, resulting in the birth of the game of
netball.
Provide a detailed description of how the sport is played (4)
Netball is a game that is played on a court that is 30.5 meters wide and 15.25 meters in length,
with a centre circle (in the centre of the court) and two semi circles called the goal circles. There
are 7 people on each team that are on the court, although a team can have

To Kill A Mockingbird Mood Analysis
At times in life, you go through many things that you never knew you would have to experience.
You usually don t know what it feels like to do something until you actually do it. In the book,
To Kill a Mockingbird , Scout is a little girl growing up in an environment filled with cruelty. This
is because of how colored people were treated. Also, she would see how other people were like
but she didn t truly understand what it is like to be those people. Than she learns that you don t
know something until you re in it s place. In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, you can find many
literary elements. Some of them are the setting, characters, and mood.
In like manner, setting is an literary element that you can find in the scene that Scout discovers that
you don t truly know a person until you stand in their shoes and walk around in them. The setting is
important because it can tell us a little bit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mood contributes to the book because at some point in the book, it can be such a happy moment
but than it can just turn into a sad moment. This is something that colored people faced a lot
back in those days and even in the book. For example, on chapter 25, it saids A crowd of black
children were playing marbles in Tom s front yard. A little girl grinned ear to ear. Sam was
trotting behind his mother when they came up. Dill said Helen said, evenin , Mr. Finch, won t
you have a seat? But se didn t say any more. Neither did Atticus. Scout said Dill, she just fell
down in the dirt, Just fell down in the dirt, like a giant with a nig foot just came along and
stepped on her .This shows us that it was just a normal day for Tom s family. The kids were
playing and the family was together. They may have had worries over Tom but they were happy
until Atticus gave them the news. This was about Tom being dead. That is when the whole mood
of the story just changes from being normal to a dark day for

Essay about Willie Nelson s Music Makes Me Happy
Going Busking is not as easy as it looks. You have to have a talent such as being a mime, singing,
playing an instrument, or dancing. I played piano in a band with my friends; our number one
song was On the Road Again by Willie Nelson. Willie Nelson changed music for some people and
I will be talking about music changing people s lives. Willie Hugh Nelson is a country musicsinger,
song writer, and guitarplayer, he was an author, poet, and activist. The album Shotgun Willie
Made him a very famous country artist. Willie was born in the great depression and he wrote his
first song when he was seven and joined a band when he was ten. He impacted people s lives

There are a lot of times in country music that there is a bass, guitar, singer, piano, and drums. That
is what our band is. The bass and the drums are for keeping the beat and sounding good. The
piano and the guitar are usually leading and if one is then the other is the background. And of
course the singer is the lead singer. Especially in country music, sometimes there are more than one
singer and there is a background singer.
Busking is like showbiz that is the same as an entry level job. If you perform well enough someone
could discover you and you could join the ranks of famous performers. First you have to find a
good place where people walk by or drive, then you can tell people about it and that will get some
to come, and you have to pick a good time to go. If you go when everyone is in school and at work
you won t get money and you won t get discovered.
We had a good turnout. Lots of people went. It is all because we used all of the skills that I have
told you. I learned piano, learned how to play On the Road Again . I had some trouble singing
and playing piano but it all worked out I learned that if you want to get better you need to practice
and push yourself. You will not get anywhere if you stay in the same place.
There are lots of ways that music can impact people s lives. Our project told us to impact the
environment around you, by using music, and we did. We went in

Using A Cloud Based System
The power of Internet grows drastically when people, data and things are interconnected through the
Internet. Internet of Things aka IoT, is a network of things or objects implanted with sensors and
other smart electronic devices which enables them to communicate with each other and other
targets in the network through exchange of data.
These sensors generate a lot of data that needs to be stored, managed and analyzed. There are
options to connect memory cards or computers to these sensors or we can integrate the sensors
in to devices with further networking capabilities. Most of the applications of IoT use a cloud
based system to store and analyze data. The applications of IoT is so vast that we can expect
these things to generate massive amounts of data which has to be gathered, stored and processed
quickly and efficiently. The advantages of using a cloud based system is that it is scalable and
the data is easily accessible through appropriate web applications. By the end of this project, the
goal is to design and set up a unix cloud based server to store and visualize sensor data that was
collected, through a web interface.

AVID Socratic Seminar
In the module for week two there were several ideas that you can implement in your classroom.
For instance you could try the walk and talk discussion strategy. This strategy simply means that
the students read a selected piece of literature and have a small group discussion about teacher
created topics posted around the room. The resources/idea for this strategy includes identifying
main ideas and develop 4 5 questions pertaining to the ideas. Afterword s you type up questions
to be printed out and placed around the room. You then should secure large sheets of butcher
paper or whiteboard space for the students to write down the groups ideas, once this task is
completed make sure you have supplied each group with dry erase or regular felt tip pens. Aside
from this wonderful strategy there was another traffic strategy that was discussed it was the 4 2 1
method. Students generate four big ideas from the text. Students then pair with someone else and
share their four big ideas. After sharing their ideas, they must decide which ones from their lists
are the 2 big ideas. That pair then pairs up with another pair and they share their 2 big ideas. That
group of 4 must then determine which of the ideas on their list is the 1 big main idea. Each group...

Diction And Views In Herman Melville s Benito Cereno
It is a clichГ© known by many: Always trust your gut. In other words, listen to your intuition as
first impressions matter. This saying reigns true in many works of literature, including Herman
Melville s 1855 novel, Benito Cereno. Throughout the first part of the story, the main character,
Captain Delano, struggles with whether or not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San
Dominick, its inhabitants, or its captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient,
it is clear that Delano has his doubts about the foreign ship from the beginning due to the original
descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient point of view in
order to allow the audience to come to their own conclusions about the ship, but also heavily
utilizes diction and sentence structure to give readers clues about what to expect from the
characters and plot. To give the passage context, Delano is finally seeing the San Dominick
clearly for the first time, not yet having met the passengers of the ship. Delano is alone and it can
be assumed that the description is his point of view, due to the fact that the anonymous narrator
appears to be pulling these images and renditions from Delano s mind. Because of this, the reader
is encouraged to think ahead about the ship s culture, its passengers, and the types of things
Delano will encounter if he decides to approach and explore it. Throughout the passage, the author
makes use of an overload of adjectives, all

The Use of Language to create the setting in The Great Gatsby
How Does F Scott Fitzgerald use Language to create the setting and the atmosphere of this
extract? This extract, which describes Jay Gatsby s extravagant party is a microcosm of the type
of seductive and exciting lifestyle that was lived by those eager to fulfil the American dream in
the 1920 s. It shows how the original dream of happiness, individualism and prosperity has
disintegrated into the mere pursuit of wealth. Fitzgerald himself experienced this type of society
and uses symbolism in this extract to represent his conflicting feelings about the Jazz age and
create a typical setting of this kind of society. Referring to the novel as a whole, Giltrow David

The guests attending the party represent the restless need of society to be entertained and
artificially amused by those willing to provide it, and in this case it is Gatsby who succumbs to
their insatiable need, both for his own benefit and theirs. We are guided through the first half of
the extract by Nick as a third person narrator, and thus the reader is given a view of what takes
place before the guests arrive at least once a fortnight several corps of caterers came down .
Nick gives the feeling of repetition of the rituals described every Friday five crates of oranges
and lemons arrived and by using this narrative technique, creates a tired ritualistic atmosphere of
routine labour on Mondays eight servants, including an extra gardener, toiled all day . The tense
changes, however, to the first person when people begin to enter the party, and the previously
felt negative atmosphere slowly disappear. The reader feels as if they are on Nick s level, seeing
what he sees. The reader s interpretation of the party is coloured by Nick s almost poetic
description and sometimes, ironic views on the event itself and its inhabitants. Two distinct types of
people are represented here: those who work for their money and those who don t. During this

Symbolism In Under The Persimmon Tree
(AGG) Many authors use symbolism to show the development of a character, like the author of
Under The Persimmon Tree does. (BS 1) In the beginning of the novel, Najmah changes from a
childlike girl to an adult like woman and the author uses the bukri, or baby goat, to symbolize this
change. (BS 2) When Mada Jan and Habib die Shaheed is born while Golestan Najmah dies, and the
author uses Najmah s first haircut to give a deeper meaning to this change. (BS 3) After Najmah
meets Nusrat, she develops into another version of herself and the author uses another haircut to
add another level behind this literal change. (TS) The author uses symbolism to show Najmah s
development throughout the novel.
(MIP 1) Najmah goes from an innocent child in the family to an adult in the family and the author
tracks this change with the bukri. (SIP A) The author shows that Najmah grows up to be an
adult after her father and brother were taken away. (STEWE 1) After Najmah s brother and
father are taken away, her mother goes into depression and just silently sits. This is like a role
reversal between Najmah and her mother. Before, Najmah used to need to be told to do the

to have the maturity of an adult in order to survive, so she does. This is why she tells her mother,

Analysis of the Movie Analyze This
Abstract: Film can be a very useful catalyst in teaching how not to treat patients. In Analyze This
and Analyze That, we see very extensive examples of this throughout the film. Through farce
and lampoon, we see the in this disjunctive way what proper CBT, criminal therapy and
combating recidivism is all about. Introduction In this short essay, the author will write an ethics
paper analyzing the movie Analyze This from an ethical perspective in a social science setting.
It will be answered from the perspective of a psychological and counseling professional who has
to balance off the real and potential conflicts at individual, professional and societal levels as
portrayed in the film. As such, we will identify specific laws and ethics codes that have been
violated. The author will discuss the case as if they are consulting with or supervising Ben Sobel
in the film who they believe is behaving unethically or unlawfully. They will state clearly what he
is doing unethically or unlawfully with a supportive historical background. They will then provide
the possible steps for managing and correcting the situation. The entire film is a therapist s
behavior that revolvess around these issues; Confidentiality, Privileged Communication, Privacy,
Informed consent, and Receiving gifts, and a Legal perspective upon the issues. To do the above,

Cordelia As A Christ-Like Figure In Ian Hunter s King Lear
Cordelia as a Christ like figure is understandable based on the answer she gives her father in
response to his question of love. Does she love him as her sisters do? Goneril and Regan give
unabashedly extravagant answers that contain nothing more than empty flattery and meaningless
words of love. However, Cordelia is the only daughter who gives an honest answer to his question.
In the playKing Lear, Cordelia responds, Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave/ My heart into my
mouth. I loveyour majesty/ According to my bond; no more, no less (I.i.90 92). Cordelia accepts
the king as her father and her sovereign, and she loves him accordingly, but he is not a God like
figure to her. Honesty, in this instance, is more important to King Lear s youngest daughter, rather
than ego stroking. When she answers that she cannot heave her heart into her mouth, she
understands that she will not baste him in meaningless flattery just to gain his wealth. This is the
moment in the play that Cordelia s virtue and love are revealed, setting into motion the idea that
she is a Christ like figure. Ian Hunter, author of the Christian article Lear, Cordelia, the Cross
presumes the play is more than just an allegory to parts of the Bible. He compares this play to John
Milton s Paradise Lost. Hunter states that the conversation between Lear and Kent in which Kent is
banished reveals another key element to the play. He states,
This exchange introduces another theme that reverberates through the

  • 2. Tramp Satire Uneven in shape, his derby cap rests upon his head at a point, only identified by his distinct suspenders and coat. Air lightens his loose jeans, which appear to fix like an inflatable bunch at his lower legs, where his larger than usual shoes oblige his feet to point outward, making him waddle when he strolls. Adjusting himself, he conveys a bamboo stick that holds his stance. Looking as if the once sweet life cruised him by, his clothing is worn out and his eyes dim, however, his mustache is short and trimmed, and his air is consistently polite. But, his high conduct is hitched with a freed feeling of opportunity and severance, dislodging him as an outcast dependent just on his most human impulses. His appearance mirrors this station, giving... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The question is not whether the nation is wet or dry, Chaplin stated, however whether the nation is famished or encouraged. His worries are mankind and its reality inside the world where workers become dehumanized machines working for industry. This is most clearly displayed when he is made distraught by the dullness of fixing jolts, jumps into a port where his body moves easily among the precision of riggings inside. His body is twisting to fit each ebb and flow, he turns into a pinion in the wheels of industry. When he develops again on the manufacturing plant floor, his frenzy sends him into an offbeat skip, splashing oil in laborers confronts, curving his wrenches on everything in sight that looks like a jolt. Outside the production line, the Tramp spots a lady with prominently large bosoms punctuated by shock like catches. He pursues her with a wild glimmer in his eye; as of now, the Stifler has satisfied itself without doing with the proposed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most things that are used in people s everyday lives are mistakes. For example, microwaves and gravity were both discovered by mistakes. Microwaves, that thing that heats up food and pops popcorn, was a mistake. Source two states, Spencer noticed that the bar of chocolate melted. • 4. Factors of Success Introduction and objectives The overall objective of this individual assignment is targeted in two separate, yet strongly interrelated sections. Our first task is concerned with one inspiring entrepreneurial story and its reasons for success. Furthermore, other factors for success will be discussed, in the light of relevant literature. Additionally, I will identify the personal takeaways I can take from it. To support this, I also intend to explain the logic used to identify these takeaways. Other interesting details of this entrepreneurial story, but not relevant for the main critical analysis, will be placed in the appendix. Following this, using two different personal entrepreneurial assessment tests, I will evaluate my own... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the previous page, some ideas were depicted, in order to frame Cordys and Jan Baan s reasons for success into a common framework. This shows the connection between an awareness of new emerging trends in the software industry and Baan s personal characteristics. Having set this framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the reasons for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an opportunistic personal trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan Baan has always been ready to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to be trend setters and not followers (Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan detected that the software industry required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010). Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland 2010). Furthermore supportive networks developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns 2007, p70). Interestingly, this was also true for Jan Baan, who in early stages involved his brother, and simultaneously built up a close network in his home country, the Netherlands. Hence, from the last paragraph, as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Descriptive Essay About Carlie Phillie Phillie s All throughout the world there are so many different places to reside. Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, yet I chose Bonkville, Alabama? Bonkville is a small town with one main street that has a population of merely 432; however, there is one person in that 432 that still keeps me around, as this is where the story begins. As a kid, I had a wonderful life. Even though Bonkville is the size of an ant compared to most cities in the world, it is beautiful. We live about one hour from the beach; yet, we have thick forests and wildlife everywhere around us. It really is like the best of both worlds. At my house I lived with my mom, dad, and sister Betty. We went to Bonkville Elementary and High School. As probably assumed, we had the same kids in our class kindergarten through senior year, and with that we were all ready to get out of that town in the end; however, during senior year, I decided I would be okay if I never left. At the beginning of my senior year of high school, I began to like a girl named Shelley. Shelley started to change my life as she was the most wonderful girl that I d ever met. She had the prettiest smile and could lighten up any room. We dated all throughout senior year but toward the end things got rocky. Shelley wanted to live her life and go college and I still wanted to be with her, but it didn t matter. Shelley broke up with me August 23, 1987, on the last day of high school. • 8. Analysis of the Poem Crossings, by Judith Ortiz Cofer The theme of poem Crossings, by Judith Ortiz Cofer is evaluating and reacting upon the tough decisions that come up in life. The cracks represent the flaws you can find and the inevitable accidents that will occur. But each day more and more fissures / crisscross your path, and like the lines/ on your palms, they mean something. (6 8) These lines show that each days more incidents and troubles, the fissures , will come up in your life, the bad things will happen in your life time, crisscross your path, and like the lines on your palms, they mean something, however, every time you experience a bad accident or disaster, which it seems at the time, you will learn something. It also seems like fate is a big theme in this piece and the human reaction to fate s doings. On lines 8 and 9, on your palms, they mean something/ you cannot decipher, shows fate s working in manufacturing these cracks. What they incidents mean, or what you can learn from them however, is still a mystery because it is brought on by fate, such as the example of lines on your palms, and how some people believe they are a representation of one s future. The lines Finally you must choose between / standing still in the one solid spot / you have found, or you keep moving / and take the risk: / Break your mother s back. • 11. The Characters Of Sherlock Holmes It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes) This is one of the many lines in Arthur Conan Doyle s Sherlock Holmes Mysteries. Conan Doyle, born in May of 1859, published the first Sherlock Holmesmystery, A Study in Scarlet, in 1887. When he died in July of 1930 there were 4 novels as well as 56 short stories that featured Holmes. Even though some of the plots throughout the series are unrealistic many of the cultural details are real. Doyle describes London in a great amount of detail, including the smog that fell upon the city. For example, some of the locations Doyle writes about are in fact real places; some of the characters are based off people he knew in his life, and throughout the novels and stories there are many weapons and ammo that were actually used in the nineteenth century. Inspiration for the Characters Conan Doyle was attending medical school at the University of Edinburgh when he met Dr. Joseph Bell, his professor. Bell was a lecturer and an excellent surgeon. He wrote many scientific books and was even Queen Victoria s personal surgeon whenever she came to Scotland. However, what made Bell so amazing was his ability to connect with his patients. He would astonish his students by being able to determine a patient s occupation and other personal details simply by observing them. After Sir Doyle graduated medical ... Staffing System For A Job Maria Romano MGE 629 HW#3 Chapter #7 1.Imagine and describe a staffing system for a job in which no measures are used A staffing system for a job in which no measures are used would be virtually impossible. Measurement is the key in staffing organizations, as it is a method used for assessing aspects within the organization. A system without methods would have no efficient method for determining a framework in the process of selection. 2.Describe how you might go about determining scores for applicants responses to (a) interview questions, (b) letters of recommendation, and (c) questions about previous work experience. To determine scores for qualitative responses such as interview questions, letters of recommendations and previous work experience questions, a scale would have to be created. To determine these scores, the answers would have to be looked at subjectively by the reviewer and given a number on a rating scale. Once the answers are given a numerical value, the total score can be compared to other applicants scores to determine who may be more valuable to the company. 3.Give examples of when you would want the following for a written job knowledge test: (a) a low coefficient alpha (e.g., a=.35) and (b) a low test retest reliability. A low coefficient alpha represents a low reliability measure, showing that there is a decreased correlation between items on the test measure. This technique of first person immediately acts as a hook for any reader, as the direct account in the form of a memory, allows for a raw psychological depth to be added to the stanzas. This truthful account of the first person narrative is thoroughly successful, as it allows us to see and understand the graphic imagery produced by the narrator therefore presenting the reader with a vivid insight into the fascinating and intricate world of the narrators mind. However, rather than through vocabulary Doshi is able to use the first person narrative to further enforce the complex relationship with the narrator and their mother, who is the deliverer . The very much bland tone and basic language, full of simple sentences, is lacking description on the whole, which only adds to the dull, thudding rhythm of the poem. Little did the Native Americans realize that the new nation that was going to be forming around them would affect not only their lives but the lives of their descendants. Even though the Cherokee made efforts to keep their land through the court system and even attempted to assimilate to the American way of life it was to no avail. They tried to agree to treaties with the United States Government. Even though, they were eventually forced to leave their lands. By forcing the Native Americans to abandon their homes, robbing their lands, taking their freedom, and forcing them to adapt and to assimilate into a new land and culture showed how vindictive President Andrew Jacksonwas regarding the Native Americans. The Trail of Tears was an instance of the United States Government committing genocide against the Native Americans Until 1828, the federal government agreed that Cherokee had rights to their land, but when Andrew Jackson was elected President, that all ended. • 36. Diction And Views In Herman Melville s Benito Cereno It is a clichГ© known by many: Always trust your gut. In other words, listen to your intuition as first impressions matter. This saying reigns true in many works of literature, including Herman Melville s 1855 novel, Benito Cereno. Throughout the first part of the story, the main character, Captain Delano, struggles with whether or not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San Dominick, its inhabitants, or its captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient, it is clear that Delano has his doubts about the foreign ship from the beginning due to the original descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient point of view in order to allow the audience to come to their own conclusions about the ship, but also heavily utilizes diction and sentence structure to give readers clues about what to expect from the characters and plot. To give the passage context, Delano is finally seeing the San Dominick clearly for the first time, not yet having met the passengers of the ship. Delano is alone and it can be assumed that the description is his point of view, due to the fact that the anonymous narrator appears to be pulling these images and renditions from Delano s mind. Because of this, the reader is encouraged to think ahead about the ship s culture, its passengers, and the types of things Delano will encounter if he decides to approach and explore it. Throughout the passage, the author makes use of an overload of adjectives, all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Use of Language to create the setting in The Great Gatsby How Does F Scott Fitzgerald use Language to create the setting and the atmosphere of this extract? This extract, which describes Jay Gatsby s extravagant party is a microcosm of the type of seductive and exciting lifestyle that was lived by those eager to fulfil the American dream in the 1920 s. It shows how the original dream of happiness, individualism and prosperity has disintegrated into the mere pursuit of wealth. Fitzgerald himself experienced this type of society and uses symbolism in this extract to represent his conflicting feelings about the Jazz age and create a typical setting of this kind of society. Referring to the novel as a whole, Giltrow David (from Studies in the Novel ) states that The style F. Scott... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The guests attending the party represent the restless need of society to be entertained and artificially amused by those willing to provide it, and in this case it is Gatsby who succumbs to their insatiable need, both for his own benefit and theirs. We are guided through the first half of the extract by Nick as a third person narrator, and thus the reader is given a view of what takes place before the guests arrive at least once a fortnight several corps of caterers came down . Nick gives the feeling of repetition of the rituals described every Friday five crates of oranges and lemons arrived and by using this narrative technique, creates a tired ritualistic atmosphere of routine labour on Mondays eight servants, including an extra gardener, toiled all day . The tense changes, however, to the first person when people begin to enter the party, and the previously felt negative atmosphere slowly disappear. The reader feels as if they are on Nick s level, seeing what he sees. The reader s interpretation of the party is coloured by Nick s almost poetic description and sometimes, ironic views on the event itself and its inhabitants. Two distinct types of people are represented here: those who work for their money and those who don t. During this extract ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Symbolism In Under The Persimmon Tree (AGG) Many authors use symbolism to show the development of a character, like the author of Under The Persimmon Tree does. (BS 1) In the beginning of the novel, Najmah changes from a childlike girl to an adult like woman and the author uses the bukri, or baby goat, to symbolize this change. (BS 2) When Mada Jan and Habib die Shaheed is born while Golestan Najmah dies, and the author uses Najmah s first haircut to give a deeper meaning to this change. (BS 3) After Najmah meets Nusrat, she develops into another version of herself and the author uses another haircut to add another level behind this literal change. (TS) The author uses symbolism to show Najmah s development throughout the novel. (MIP 1) Najmah goes from an innocent child in the family to an adult in the family and the author tracks this change with the bukri. (SIP A) The author shows that Najmah grows up to be an adult after her father and brother were taken away. (STEWE 1) After Najmah s brother and father are taken away, her mother goes into depression and just silently sits. This is like a role reversal between Najmah and her mother. Before, Najmah used to need to be told to do the work because she was much like a child. Now, it is the other way around. Najmah knows she has to have the maturity of an adult in order to survive, so she does. This is why she tells her mother, You may choose not to live, but the baby and I need you. • 41. Cordelia As A Christ-Like Figure In Ian Hunter s King Lear Cordelia as a Christ like figure is understandable based on the answer she gives her father in response to his question of love. Does she love him as her sisters do? Goneril and Regan give unabashedly extravagant answers that contain nothing more than empty flattery and meaningless words of love. However, Cordelia is the only daughter who gives an honest answer to his question. In the playKing Lear, Cordelia responds, Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave/ My heart into my mouth. I loveyour majesty/ According to my bond; no more, no less (I.i.90 92). Cordelia accepts the king as her father and her sovereign, and she loves him accordingly, but he is not a God like figure to her. Honesty, in this instance, is more important to King Lear s youngest daughter, rather than ego stroking. When she answers that she cannot heave her heart into her mouth, she understands that she will not baste him in meaningless flattery just to gain his wealth. This is the moment in the play that Cordelia s virtue and love are revealed, setting into motion the idea that she is a Christ like figure. Ian Hunter, author of the Christian article Lear, Cordelia, the Cross presumes the play is more than just an allegory to parts of the Bible. He compares this play to John Milton s Paradise Lost. Hunter states that the conversation between Lear and Kent in which Kent is banished reveals another key element to the play. He states, This exchange introduces another theme that reverberates through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
