This document provides a lesson plan for teaching 2nd grade students about insects. The students will observe the life stages of monarch butterflies, research an insect of their choice, and present their findings to the class. Working in groups, students will use guided websites and databases to research an insect's diet, habitat, and geographical location. They will create a presentation and act out the life stages of insects. Over 5 days, students will learn about different insect types, diets, habitats, geographical locations, and life stages. Technology such as butterfly kits, computers, presentation software, and video cameras will aid the lesson.
