Ages from 10-12 years
3. Main Objective
Students will describe the five kingdoms of living
things through the use of technology, daily walks in
nature, pictures, science instruments and classroom
discussions. At the end of the week, at least 75% of
the students will know the five kingdoms of living
themes as well as being able to give detail about
each of the kingdoms. The learners will be actively
participating; mentally and/or physically with each
activities of each day.
4. Day by Day Breakdown
Monday: Students will be introduce to the first kingdom of Monera through a PowerPoint
shown at the beginning of class. The students will use microscopes to examine the single cells
and share their observations with their groups in which they will be placed.
Tuesday: Students will be introduce to Protista by pictures given out to them at the beginning of
class. The pictures will have a comparison between protistas and moneras to help them retain
their information from the previous day. They will use the microscopes to examine the living
organism.
Wednesday: At the beginning of class, the students will take a walk in nature to look for the
living organism of fungi. They will then bring it back to the class safely to examine them under
the microscopes.
Thursday: Students will continue with the living organism of plantae. The students will take
another nature walk to find different plants. The students will present their plants to the class
teaching the others what they learned about plantae.
Friday: On the last day, at the begin inning of class the students will bring in a picture of their
favorite animal to learn about animalia. The students will share why their animal fits in the
animalia kingdom. At the end of class the students will watch different YouTube videos to
review the different kingdoms and then there will be a class discussion on the different opinions.
Lastly, the students will write a journal on what they learned and what they would change and
what they would keep the same about the week’s activity on the five kingdoms.
