2. Introduction A rising world population; increased demand
for water for agriculture, industry, and energy
production; and a growing desire for safer and
more plentiful water supplies are pressuring
existing resources and water quality has
deteriorated. .
Also, the rapid increasing demands for
irrigation, human and industrial consumption,
the available water resources in many parts of
the world especially in India are getting
depleted
At the same time, climate change and
water pollution reduce the quality of fresh
water.

3. IMPORATANCE OF WATER QUALITY MONITORING
The health burden of poor water quality is
enormous. It is estimated that around 37.7
million Indians are affected by waterborne
diseases annually, 1.5 million children are
estimated to die of diarrhoea alone and 73
million working days are lost due to waterborne
disease each year.
The resulting economic burden is estimated at
$600 million a year. The problems of chemical
contamination is also prevalent in India with
1,95,813 habitations in the country are affected
by poor water quality.
The major chemical parameters of concern are
fluoride and arsenic. Iron is also emerging as a
major problem with many habitations showing
excess iron in the water samples

5. While traditional water monitoring and
contamination detection systems are designed to
measure only a single parameter at a time, new
remote monitoring system takes quite the opposite
approach.
Sensor unit allows the operator to set the required
definition of purity, and then monitors the water
continuously for deviations from that defined purity
- the sensor 'tastes' any changes as soon as they
occur, and reports them instantly in real-time by
SMS or email.

Technical abstract
The electro chemical technology works on a relatively simple
principle: the working electrodes on the sensor, together with each
other and with the reference electrode, detect deviations from a pre-
defined quality fingerprint (electrochemical profile), and neural
calculations are performed in our servers using our proprietary
software, in order to create an index which presents the extent of
the quality-change in a clear visual format.

and sends it, in the receptacle provided, to the
