Corporate culture can be defined as the values, norms, attitudes and behavior patterns, that are shared within an organization [Herzog, 2011]. Corporate culture can be seen as the personality of a company that influences people's behavior within the organization, regardless of size and field of action
Innovation involves thinking differently, creatively and insightfully to create solutions that have an impact in terms of social and economic value.
National Innovation Council (NInC) was setup under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sam Pitroda, Adviser to the PM on PIII to discuss, to analyse and help implement strategies for inclusive innovation in India and prepare a Roadmap for Innovation 2010-2020. NInC would be the first step in creating a crosscutting system which will provide mutually reinforcing policies, recommendations and methodologies to implement and boost innovation performance in the country.
This book highlights some of the key initiatives that NInC has taken in last four years to promote innovations in the country.

Social Environment – The Lonely Genius
From a developmental psychology perspective, experiencing isolation and social rejection in childhood may foster creativity in children who cope with stressful interpersonal situations by retreating into a rich fantasy life (Olszewski‐ Kubilius, 2000).
Alternatively, it may be that isolation imposed by circumstance does not necessarily facilitate creativity, but rather that creative individuals have a greater internal need for time alone (Ochse, 1991)
The Intrinsic Motivation Hypothesis of Creativity posits “the intrinsically motivated state is conducive to creativity, whereas the extrinsically motivated state is detrimental” (Amabile, 1983, p.76)
Social Environment – The Supported Creative
An environment that is tolerant of new ideas and offers feedback that does not discourage the individual, but rather helps direct him or her to refine new ideas (Sternberg & Lubart, 1992).
Amabile (2001) proposed that certain types of extrinsic motivators, which give support to the development of competence and work involvement, complement intrinsic motivation through a process that she denominates motivational synergy.
Sternberg & Lubart, 1995 investigated motivators from professionals that have given creative contributions in several areas. Extrinsic motivators included the wish to obtain domain on a given problem, to be recognized by peers, to have self-esteem, to reach immortality and to discover an underlying order in things.

Creativity is an essential resource for corporate competitive advantage (McShane, Olekalns and Travaglione, 2013)
Creativity is often “blocked” in a variety of ways, including deep-seated beliefs about the world (Gurteen, 1998).
The Work Environment – Facilitating Creativity
Creativity, like a delicate flower, needs an ideal atmosphere to flourish (Norins, 1990)
The Work Environment Inventory (Amabile & Griskiewicz, 1989) identifies features of organizations that promote creativity

This presentation by Michelle Reed and Billy Meinke was presented at the Open Education Global Conference on April 25, 2018, in Delft, Netherlands. Abstract: For over a century, academic librarians in the United States have provided instruction designed to help patrons effectively navigate and use the resources and services provided by the library. Today we refer to this type of learning experience in terms of “information literacy.” As digitization has shaped the ways that we access and share information, so, too, has information literacy evolved to represent a more nuanced relationship between the people who create and consume information and the systems we use to communicate in a networked world. In January 2016, the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) adopted a new Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, which transitioned librarians from a skills-based approach to teaching and learning to a conceptual one. Though the language in the Framework is student-centric, as are the information literacy programs that operate out of academic libraries, we argue that the knowledge practices and dispositions represented in the document apply to educators as much as they do to the students we serve—particularly in the context of open education. With its heavy focus on copyright and licensing, outreach and education about open educational resources (OER) provide a perfect opportunity to explore how concepts of information literacy can guide our work with faculty, staff, and administrators who are new to open education or who have fallen prey to misinformation about OER. Additionally, though the term “information literacy” grew from libraries, we acknowledge that librarians do not fully own the responsibility of deepening our communities’ understanding of the information ecosystem. In this presentation, a librarian and an instructional designer discuss how information literacy concepts can inform how we support open education and how we leverage existing information literacy programs to broaden the impact of our work. From the Ontario Trillium Foundation 2009 Professional Development Conference
According to a recent Kellogg Foundation report, if an organization builds a culture that systematically supports innovation, the ideas will come. The key is to be deliberate, open to ideas from anywhere, comfortable with unpredictability, and generous in sharing learnings – all great approaches to building a social infrastructure for youth organizing and engagement in Ontario. Young people are already making significant contributions to their communities, and now is the time to sustain and increase that activity.
In March 2009, OTF partnered with the Laidlaw Foundation and Tides Canada to create the conditions that would allow youth-led and youth-serving organizations to connect with each other, share resources and develop new knowledge and practices. 50 young people from diverse sectors and groups agreed on the need for a coordinated provincial model, but where they go from there is deliberately unplanned. No required changes have been identified up front, and no expected outcomes have been proposed. The only certainty is that a strong foundation is being built for future generations. Work through a fascinating case study on this unique process to find out more about:
- the five stages of intentional innovation;
- thinking big and trusting to “wisdom of crowds”;
- the definition of a social infrastructure; and
- the kind of supports needed by youth to strengthen their work
