This document outlines three initial ideas for a project exploring postmodern architecture: 1) Combining features from historical Greenwich buildings and modern structures into a single building. 2) Creating educational materials like leaflets or 3D models about the history of Greenwich and Trinity Buoy Wharf. 3) Modernizing the existing Greenwich information center by repairing the old building, designing a new structure, or making the current one more grand by incorporating features from landmark buildings in the area.

1. INITIAL IDEAS

turn into something for educational purposes.Or to compare the two areas in one view.

2. RESEARCH - POSTMODERNISM ARCHITECTURE
A late 20th-century style and concept in the arts, architecture, and criticism, which
represents a departure from modernism and is characterized by the self-conscious
use of earlier styles and conventions, a mixing of different artistic styles and
media, and a general distrust of theories.
(simple) Mixing styles from different periods and cultures which, according to our
rational concepts, should not work together.

3. IDEA 1- GREENWICHANDTRINITY BUOYWHARF COMBINED INTO ONE BUILDING
• This building is just and example of what I might do
• If I choose this idea I will be looking at postmodernism in more
depth.
• Basically my idea is to combine features from historical
buildings and from modern buildings into one.
• Not sure where I’m going to go next but I have a couple of
ideas (look at old buildings that are still around today and
compare them with famous modern buildings)

4. IDEA 2 - EDUCATION

 A normal leaflet-looking and focusing on the history of each area,
looking at different leaflet formats and ways of presenting the
information.
 3D Information Model
A model that opens up and presents information of each
area or the specific area the model relates to.

5. IDEA 3 – INFORMATIONCENTRE FOR GREENWICH
• Modernise

 Modernise
Keep the same building but make it more modern
Advantage: could make it more attractive and interesting and attract more people
Disadvantage: wouldn’t fit in with the rest of Greenwich
 Repair old centre
Exactly what it sounds like, keeping the same building but repairing it and maybe adding more features
Disadvantage: ( in my project) wouldn't allow me to do much
 New building design
Design a new or another Greenwich information building
• Make it more grand
• Use more features from the main buildings
Advantage: there’s a lot of things I can do when looking at a new building design
