Narayan Murthy founded Infosys in 1981 with six other software professionals. Starting from a small investment of $250, Infosys grew rapidly and became a global leader in IT consulting and services, with over $2 billion in revenue and 50,000 employees. Murthy helped establish corporate governance standards and grow the Indian IT industry through his leadership of Infosys. He received many honors over his career, including being named one of the most influential global executives, before retiring as Chairman of Infosys in 2006.
