Library Outreach Definition
“Outreach is the process whereby a library service investigates the activities of the community it serves and becomes fully involved in supporting community, activities, whether or not centered on library premises.” (Anderson, 2010).

Information literacy 2.0: experts or expats?Pru Mitchell
This presentation (rescued from the archives) was presented at the 2007 School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa Conference. It challenges library staff to reconsider their role in information literacy and how to ensure students and teachers are equipped to navigate the new information landscape. It asks for experts in contemporary information literacy issues, such as online identity, digital rights, social networking, personalisation and collaborative content, rather then expatriates continuing to do things as they did in ‘the old country’?

Barbour, M. K., Wenmoth, D., & Davis, N. (2012, March). Virtual learning in New Zealand: Achieving maturity. A paper presented at the annual conference of the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education, Austin, TX.
This proposal describes a study into the development of virtual learning in New Zealand, specifically the obstacles that e-learning clusters face or have faced in their journey to sustainability and maturity through the lens of the Learning Communities Online Handbook. Using a variety of data collection methods, the researchers identified three common barriers, including a lack of a coherent vision, difficulty in securing the necessary funding and resources, and a lack of collaboration and cooperation within and between clusters. Based on these findings, it is recommended that individual e-learning clusters develop specific strategies to encourage greater collaboration between clusters and work towards greater consistency between their activities, including professional and organizational development and also of the approaches to virtual learning.

DELNET with passage of time and technological advancements not only widened its scope but has crossed the geographical boundaries. Presently, it is the major resource sharing library network in India connecting more than 5,900 libraries in 23 States and Union Territories in India and eight other countries.
The main objectives of DELNET is to promote resource sharing among the member-libraries by collecting, storing and disseminating information and by providing networked services to the researchers and scholars to supplement their research activity
This presentation talks about the fundamental flaw in metadata which is its dependence on the user to competently annotate. It then introduces the OERScout technology framework which provides a way to remove the human from the metadata equation which is the weakest link.

Information Literacy, Libraries, and Virtual Schools: New Standards for New M...alexrhodges
This roundtable focused conversation on how the emerging information literacy framework (ACRL, 2015) impacts libraries in virtual schooling environments. Participants discussed K-12 and higher education students' development of information literacy as a series of threshold concepts and metaliteracies (Mackey & Jacobson, 2011, 2014; Townsend, Brunetti, & Hofer, 2011). Participants also examined what the evolving information literacy framework means for virtual schools, libraries, teachers and librarians.

Competencies of Librarians as a Factor Affecting Information, Service Deliver...SubmissionResearchpa
This study investigated the competencies of librarians as a factor affecting information service delivery in Delta state university (DELSU) library and Federal university of petroleum resources (FUPRE) library. The main objective of the study was to determine the extent to which information and competencies of librarians in DELSU and FUPRE affect their information service delivery. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. A descriptive survey design was used in this study. A total of 61 librarians were selected using the total enumeration sampling technique since the total population was manageable. A total of 52 copies of the questionnaire were retrieved and analyzed using simple percentage, mean score, and standard deviation. The findings of this study show that: the majority of the respondents possess high extent of the ICT skills, majority have high extent of customer-service competency, and most librarians possess high extent of competency in interpersonal communication. It was concluded that these skills, though basic are a good platform that increases the effect of relevant information service delivery in the library. A minor but regular training was said to be what will do the magic by Ogagaoghene Uzezi IDHALAMA, Afebuameh James AIYEBELEHIN and Onomiroro OKOBO 2020. Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. Background
• Converged service
– Library
– ICT
– Media
– Print
• Where does information literacy fit?
• Is Information Learning Services a learning
organisation?
3. Learning organisation
• Staff development based on shared values
(Camille and Wu 2010)
• Learning for both service users and staff
(Bergat and d’Elia 2010)
• Information literacy at core of our learning
4. Information Literacy
• Those in roles focusing on IL need to be as
high priority for IL training as those on
periphery (Pagell and Munoo 2010)
• Users of an information service rarely
distinguish between staff in different roles
(Sult and Evangeliste 2009)
7. Key points
• Divide between practice-based and wider
learning concepts
– Referencing vs ethics of information use
– Information searching vs evaluation of resources
– Current awareness services vs ongoing learning
8. Acknowledgements
With thanks to Katy Wrathall for initiating the
project and providing the framework within
which it took place.
