Industrial Revolution Essay
Crafting an essay on the Industrial Revolution can be both a challenging and rewarding
endeavor. The complexity of the topic lies in its vast scope and multifaceted impact on society,
economics, and technology. The Industrial Revolution was a pivotal period that marked the
transition from agrarian and manual labor-based economies to industrialized and machine-driven
societies. To adequately address the subject, one must delve into the historical context,
technological advancements, socio-economic changes, and the far-reaching consequences that
shaped the course of human civilization.
Researching the Industrial Revolution requires a thorough exploration of primary and secondary
sources, encompassing various disciplines such as history, economics, sociology, and technology.
Understanding the chronological sequence of events, key inventions, and the societal
transformations that occurred during this period is crucial. Additionally, one must critically
analyze the causes and effects, evaluating the positive and negative aspects of industrialization.
Formulating a coherent thesis statement and organizing the essay's structure poses its own set of
challenges. The essay should flow logically, presenting arguments and evidence in a cohesive
manner. Balancing historical facts with insightful analysis demands a nuanced approach to
capture the complexity of the Industrial Revolution.
Moreover, addressing counterarguments and alternative perspectives adds depth to the essay,
showcasing a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Writing a compelling
conclusion that synthesizes key points and emphasizes the historical significance of the Industrial
Revolution is another aspect that requires careful consideration.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the Industrial Revolution involves navigating through a
vast sea of information, synthesizing diverse perspectives, and presenting a well-structured
narrative. While the process may be demanding, the opportunity to explore and communicate the
profound impact of this transformative period in history can be intellectually stimulating and
rewarding.

Negligence Case Study
Situation 1
In this first situation, Mike, who is a Utah resident, sues Jim for negligence in the
amount of $60,000. Jim is a Nevada resident, therefore, Mike sues in Nevada s
Federal district court. Negligence is a state civil law suit. Jim believes that the case
should be dismissed because he believes there is a lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
By definition, Subject matter jurisdiction is the authority of a court to hear cases of a
particular type or cases relating to a specific subject matter. For instance, bankruptcy
court only has the authority to hear bankruptcy cases. Additionally, the constitution
doesn t extend subject matter jurisdiction to federal district courts. With that in mind,
Jim is correct. The case should be filed in a a state trial court. Nevada only has
personal jurisdiction over Jim. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Turning 15 On The Road To Freedom Essay
In the story, Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom by Lynda Blackmon Lowery, the
main character Lynda Lowery was growing up during a time of segregation. She had
to make many tough choices that would affect not only her future but the people
around her as well. Three of her main decisions was to march and fight for what she
believed, do anything to help the people around her no matter what the repercussions
were and continuing on with the marches after Bloody Sunday .Lynda Blackmon was
very determined and stood her ground.
Lynda Blackmon s main decision was fighting for what she believed in and marching
for freedom, along with the other activists. This affected the main character s life

This decision affected Blackmon because in the long run she got hurt very badly.
Also, she got traumatized, but then learned to overcome it. These marches taught
Backmon that there was strength in numbers. They also gave Blackmon a second
family . She was one determined woman, and she was going to raise us up to be
strong and determined too. (Lowery 16/17) This shows that even though Lynda was
injured she didn t let anything stop her because she was determined just like her
mother. This decision affected the lives of those around the main character because
in the long run they got the rights that they deserved. They also gained a sense of
community and a sense of pride because they worked for what they believed in. They
learned many valuable lessons that would help in the future.
Lynda Blackmon had to make many life altering decisions. Three of these life
altering decisions were that she decided to march and protest for what she believed
in, she also is willing to do anything for the people that she loves, she also didn t let
her fears stop her from doing what she thought needed to be done. These decisions
had many beneficial outcomes that impacted her
Odysseus, An Egotistical Cretin
Odysseus tells Athena, whom he believes is a shepherd, a false account, of how he
came to Ithaca, primarily since he needs to keep his identity a secret, familiarize
himself with the situation on Ithaca and formulate a plan to execute the suitors. He
perceives that he has arrived in a mist shrouded and unknown land. And thus
secondarily, he needs to present a feasible reason for being alone and stranded with
copious amounts of treasure for safety reasons as well as to allay suspicion in relation
to his identity. Athenaaffects how he tells his lie because he can see and listen to her.
To manipulate her more effectively, Odysseusexploits these factors to produce a story

Hence, this absence of kleos portrays Odysseus as calculating, merciless and
dishonorable. This would warn the shepherd not to try to steal from Odysseus as
Orsilokhos attempted because Odysseus does not care for glory and will slaughter
him in any way he can whether or not it damages his reputation. The images
evoked from Troy, all I had fought and bled for , serve to somewhat justify his
murder of Orsilokhos and show some appreciation for honest work, when it serves
him, and could function to make the shepherd feel less fear towards a murderous
foreigner. Mostly, this information gives the shepherd a distinct warning not to
attempt to harm or steal from him because not only is he a hardened warrior who
survived a ten year war at Troy, but he has already murdered royalty, dishonorably, in
his own homeland for trying to take his hard earned possessions. Obviously, he would
have no qualms about killing a shepherd in a different country for attempting the
same.
Odysseus also mentions that he was not subservient to Idomeneus at Troy. He even
led a command of men not under Idomeneus, which would be skirting on treason.
Though it was not admirable to disregard duty, it allowed Odysseus a unit of men
who would presumably die for him and could potentially be used to overthrow

Bolsheviks Siezing power in Petrograd in 1917
Bolsheviks Siezing power in Petrograd in 1917
There are a number of factors that led to the Bolsheviks being able to seize power in
Petrograd. There wasn t one incident that can be attributed to causing the revolution
by it s self. To understand how the revolution was able to take place we must
understand the structure of Russia s society from the late 1800 s until when the
revolutions took place in 1917.
Before the year 1917 Russia had been an autocracy, this means that one man alone
had complete power over the whole of Russia. This man was known as the Tsar.
His family, the Romanov s had ruled Russia since the 17th century. He had complete
power over all of the people in Russia. To pass a ... Show more content on

In this thesis he stated that he wanted all of the land and wealth in Russia to be re
distributed evenly amongst all of the people. He states that a highly organised party
will be needed to bring about the revolutions that will achieve a socialist state. In
short Lenin wanted a radical shake up in Russia with a communist system in place,
resulting in a socialist state where everyone is equal and has equal land. Again this is
quite a major factor in contributing to the revolution because of the effect that it has
on the party.
These radical ideas that Lenin has caused a split in the Russian Social Democratic
party. In 1903 it split into the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks, the Bolsheviks being
led by Lenin and the Mensheviks being led by Martov. Stalin went with the
Bolsheviks and Trotsky went with the Mensheviks. The Bolshevik party that was
formed was the main contributor to the revolution in 1917 as they were the ones that
would eventually overthrow the provisional government. However that revolution
would never have been able to take place without the social and political factors in
Russia at the time, as well as the contribution of the First World War.
In the year 1905 the Tsar faced two very tough tests in order to remain in control of
Russia. First of all there was an attempted revolution by the

First the host must be infected with the larvae or the parasite. To be infected , the
host must eat the larvae and it will end up in the intestines, hatch and start to affect
the host. To be infected by the roundworm, the host must step in contaminated soil
with their barefoot. This type of infection does not spread onto other individuals.
Having the infection has nothing to do with genetics or inheriting diseases from
parents. When infected, the treatments must start as soon as possible. When going
to go treatment, a doctor must and will make the decision to treat the infection
based on the symptoms. Safe and effective prescription drugs can treat the infection
and the symptoms. When it comes to the reproduction of the roundworm, the
female is bigger than the male. When they mate, females will lay up to 200,000
eggs per day . The affected host will only hold 5,000. The eggs can be found in
human feces and or contaminated water. The remaining eggs will be hatched in the

The Great Influenza Rhetorical Analysis
Brilliant author, John M. Barry, once proclaimed, Uncertainty makes one tentative if
not fearful, and tentative steps, even when in the right direction, may not overcome
significant obstacles... It is the courage to accept indeed, embrace uncertainty (Barry
3 5 9 10). These quotes can be traced back to John M. Barry s passage of The Great
Influenza, where he writes an account about the 1918 flu epidemic that struck the
world. In his account, he goes into further explanation about the rigors and fulfillment
of being a scientist, and simultaneously, discusses the tedious process of their
research. Ultimately, society is educated that the life of a scientist should not be
absolute, but it should consist of persistence and courage. In John M. Barry s The
Great Influenza, the author employs innovative metaphors and unique rhetorical
questions to portray scientific research.
Throughout the entirety of the passage, Barry utilizes innovative metaphors to
illustrate scientific research. Metaphors are comparison between two or more objects
that are of different natures. For example, the author states, The best among them
move deep into a wilderness region where they know almost nothing, where the very
tools and techniques needed to clear the wilderness, to bring order to it, do not exist
(Barry 25 29). Here, Barry is fundamentally capturing the essence of science. In other
words, he says that the most intuitive scientists, or they , are those who valiantly

Nutella Makes Up for Cocoa Shortage During World War II
The period was World War II there was a shortage of cocoa at the time; Mr. Pietro
Ferrero, a pastry maker founder of the Ferrero company thought that using hazelnuts
and mixing it with skim milk and a little of chocolate would be a good way to
appease the short supply of cocoa by allowing chocolate to last longer. This still being
the product s two main ingredients today; hazelnutand cocoa. In Italy, during the
1940s; Mr. Ferrero created the Nutellaspread. In its earliest form, Nutella a hazel nut
and chocolate spread was originally called pasta Gianduja this of course was the
Italian term, pasta means paste and the Gianduja was the name of a famous
character in the region in Italy. The paste was first introduced by being made in
the loaves of bread wrapped in tinfoil, used to make sandwiches. A product popular
to children, the bread was tossed away and the paste was most favored. Later
workers decided it would be best if the spread was made easier to spread on the
bread then being known as Supercrema Gianduja , thus being processed in large
jars with a yellow sticker on the middle and a red lid. Soon after in 1964 Pasta
Gianduja or Supercrema Gianduja the product was named Nutella: nut being the
origin of the product and ella a soft Italian term.
Nutella rapidly became popular among Italy. Just 25 years ago, in 1983 the Ferrero
Company introduced the product to the United States market and it was first
imported to the Northeastern part of America and
North America Research Paper
Hundreds of millions of years ago, all of earth s major landmasses were joined in a
single world continent, which geologists call Pangaea. About 200 million years ago,
the world continent split into a northern and a southern land mass. The northern
continent, Neogea, consisted of what is now North America, Europe, and Asia; the
southern continent, Gondwanaland, was made up of South America, Africa, Australia,
India, and Antarctica. About 130 million years ago, South American separated from
the rest of Gondwanaland and became, in effect, a gigantic island; its creatures,
which included marsupials and edentates precursors of today s sloths, anteaters and
armadillos developed in isolation. North America separated from Eurasia much later;
by then it was already well populated with the ancestors of our cats, dogs, rodents,
weasels, and other present day mammals. It was also inhabited by monkeys, which
had migrated from their original home in Africa up through Europe and into North
America before the continental separation was complete. For... Show more content on

The thicker sections fo the plates are the continents; the thinner parts make up the
ocean beds. When two plates meet, the result is geologic upheaval on a vast scale.
Such an encounter occurred about 20 million years ago in the region between
North and South America. The Cocos Plate, a piece of the Pacific crust some 300
miles wide, moved eastward until it met the crustal plate underlying the Caribbean.
The eastern edge of the Cocos Plate was driven beneath the western edge of the
Caribbean Plate. As the Cocos Plate was forced downward, the friction, as well as the

Overview
The chief problem in any community cursed with crime is not the punishment of the
criminals, but the preventing of the young from being trained to crime (Du Bois,
1903). Though W.E.B. Du Bois wrote this quote well over a century ago, it still
reflects the truth we hold today. This is especially apparent when we examine the
intent of the modern juvenile justice system.
The juvenile justice system operates under a system referred to as juvenile court.
Although this system was developed in Cook County, Illinois in the late ... Show

These reforms encompass everything from the use of solitary confinement to
guidelines that prevent a youth from even entering the institutional side of juvenile
justice by using community resources (E. Blaskey, personal communication,
February 28, 2015). One of the most popular ideas motivating this reform is the
concept of restorative justice. Restorative justice looks at accountability a bit
differently from previous classic models. In the past, accountability was about the
punishment matching the crime which boils down to the classic biblical thought, an
eye for an eye. Restorative justice defines accountability as taking responsibility for
your behavior and taking action to repair the harm (BARJ, 1995). Instead of
completing a punishment unrelated to the victims, in restorative justice, an offender
must come to terms with the outcome of their behavior to the victims and other vital
stakeholders in an effort to help heal all parties.
The neighborhood of Englewood in Chicago, Illinois definitely knows the effects of
juvenile crime on their community. Englewood is located on Chicago s south side

Avenue to the west and State Street to the east. According to the Social IMPACT
Research Center (2014), Englewood has a poverty rate percentage of 42.5%, second

To Spay or Not to Spay
As a pet owner, we strive to make the best decisions for our furry friends, as we are
their only advocates. They depend on us for everything they need to survive.
There are so many decisions we must make on their behalf. What kind of food
should we feed them? When is it time to see a veterinarian? These are all choices
we make to ensure they live healthy and happy lives. One of the most controversial
decisions we are faced with is whether or not to spay or neuter our pets. Some
people feel that it is an unnecessary surgery, while others see it as a means to an end
for pet overpopulation. I personally feel that in order to make the best decision, we
need to be sure we have the correct facts. First we will cover the topic of pet
overpopulation. It is estimated by The Humane Society of the United States that
approximately six to eight million pets are brought in to animal shelters every year.
Sadly, more than half of these pets are euthanized due to overpopulation. That
means that these pets are being killed purely because there isn t enough room to
house them. Animal shelters are packed full of adoptable animals just looking for a
place to call home. These animals rely on us humans to save their lives, literally. It is
irresponsible to allow your pet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an animal s natural instinct to roam for a mate while in heat. This can put them
at risk of getting hit by an automobile, attacked by another animal and even killed.
An animal will not go in to a heat cycle if they are spayed or neutered. Another pesky
behavior that can be curbed by neutering is urine marking. I m sure we have all see a
male dog lift his leg to urinate on every tree in the neighborhood. Sure there s
nothing wrong with that, but what if it was every chair in your house? Then there

Functionalists believe that the family have specific or traditional functions within the
family. One function of the family would be reproduction or having children as this
is imperative for the world as they will be the future workforce. For example family
businesses will need to pass down the factories/shops to the next generation in the

Halsey and Dennis who agrees with what Murray argues saying that single
parenthood and absent fathers is one of the key issues with the decrease in nuclear
family lives. Due to the lack of jobs and rise in unemployment men are starting to
struggle to maintain their title of bread winners and the industries are changing
from heavy workloads so women are more likely to find a job in modern times. As
a result men may be reject by the women as they can t financially depend on them
so would rather be given benefits than struggle to keep a roof over them and their
children s heads. Halsey debates that being in a one parent family with the factors of
unemployment and poverty being high could inevitably lead to crime and vandalism
by the younger members of the family. Against a nuclear family with a stable income
and stable household would again lead to any crimes and vandalism by the offspring
in the family.
Abbott and Wallace s critically judge the new right about how women are being

Wallace criticised are that the new right are opposed to

problem is that female managers and supervisors are perceived more negatively than

Comparison Of Veterinary And Human Anesthesia
In Veterinary and human anesthesia: an overview of some parallels and contrasts
Clark reports that veterinary anesthesia is a specialty (Clark). If this part of
veterinary medicine is important enough to form a specialty based on it, why are
we not doing more to ensure that all animals undergoing anesthesia are receiving
proper care? This specialty requires veterinarians to undergo at least one to two
more years of training after graduating from veterinary school and to have a three
year residency to be eligible to sit for boards and to obtain this specialty (Clark).
With this much work and effort being put in by some veterinarians to train in
anesthesia, it would seem that many people feel that this is an important area to focus
on in veterinary medicine. If this is true, why are some people ignoring the need for
better anesthetic care for animals? According to Clark this is in part due to the cost
of providing medical care to animals. (Clark). While this might be true that
veterinary care can be expensive to the clinic, this could still be improved by having
at least one trained and certified technician on the staff who is responsible for
monitoring anesthesia. Animals undergoing an anesthetic procedure are often
grouped into different classes of risk based what the veterinarian feels the animals
overall health is and how necessary he feels the surgeryis to the animal s survival and
what he feels the expected outcome of the surgery might be. Carter states

Mcdonald s National Policy Essay
The National Policy is arguably one of the most successful economic and political
strategy created by Sir John A. Macdonald s Conservative Party. This strategy
galvanized the levying of higher tariffs on goods entering from foreign markets which
protected central Canadian manufacturers from the intense American market. This
policy also restored the confidence of Canadians in the development of local
industries. The extra funds generated by this protectionist policy, therefore, aided the
dream of constructing a transcontinental railway across Canadaand helped Canadians
to regain confidence in the economy after the devastating Depression in the 1870s
and failed reciprocity agreements with the United States. While the National Policy
did not directly benefit the all of the provinces, it helped Canada expand westward,

Many new industries included tableware, cutlery, and clock making. Also,
developments in the agricultural and mining industries strengthened the young
Canadian economy. Before the National Policy was enacted, the Canadian economy
was dominated by mostly American owned companies, such as Singer, Edison,
Gillette, International Harvester, and Westinghouse. While these foreign companies
created jobs, it outcompeted the local Canadian owned companies. Also, foreign
markets tend to exploit the value of resources which weakens the local economy.
After the implementation of the National Policy in 1878, there was a doubling of
the numbers of labourers in Ontario and Quebec. As a result, the wages in this
region were doubled. This was highly favoured as the four years of economic
depression caused a scarcity of jobs and a decline in the development of Canada.
With the Canadian economy slowly dominated by local industries, this, in turn,

does not offer a predictive ecology. The advancement in science could cause a
disruption in humanity, due to manipulation of living material. During the Biotech

that we as humans should just let nature run its own course. Biotech century offers
a life of perfection created and dictated by man, allowing man to have God like

nature, and while it will be the ideal life, it is only short term. We do not know the
long term effects of the seven different variables that makeup this new Operational

Reflection On Night By Elie Wiesel
The informative and interesting book Night by Elie Wiesel depicts a young boy
struggling to survive in a time of great horror. Through reading the memoir, I have
been able to learn many new ideas and concepts about time back then, as well as
my life right now. Moreover, through reading this book I have not only developed
an understanding of the struggles of life at that horrible time, but I have also
learned crucial attributes of my life that will later shape the way I perceive
everything around me. First, I have learned that extensive pressure and no results
can lead somebody to lose faith in everything they believe. An exemplary example of
this thought is described in the memoir as the once religious and positive Elie, loses
faith in God
Archangel Michael Book 12
Previously in Book 11, The Archangel Michael was essentially prophesizing some
of the major events that have happened in the past and are discussed in the Bible.
Book 12 begins as a continuation of this foretelling. It discusses the people behaved
doing as God wanted for a while after the judgment past , but then a man with a
proud and ambitious heart came along and started to mess things up. After the earth
became much corrupted and the story of Noah and the ark is presented. Following it
leads into the story of Pharaoh and Moses. Milton discusses the punishing of him and
his followers most accurately, including the locust, blood in the rivers, famine, and
other things, which of course lead into the parting of the Red Sea being discussed.
Concussions In The National Football League
From what I ve researched and what I ve experienced, I don t think it s worth the
risk ( Chris Borland ). This quotation from former San Francisco 49er, Chris Borland,
exemplifies the concern for the increase in occurrence of concussions in the National
Football League. A concussion is defined as a type of traumatic brain injurycaused by
a blow to the head ( NFL Concussions ). The debate on who is truly responsible for
the injury s increasing presence in the NFL continues to be disputed in the league
today. Whether the blame is to be placed on the administrative personnel of the league
or the players and their actions, change is the one common denominator in the stances
taken by both sides. The National Football Leagueis not doing enough... Show more

The fact that a use of a more efficient test for diagnoses of the injury has not been
implemented into the league s concussion protocol provides support for this
argument. Improper education of the true amount of risk involved that will affect
a player in the long term displays the carelessness of the league s front office.
Almost every athlete that remains connected to the NFL has a family that relies
on them for income and support. By discerning the safety of its very own
employees, of which the league would cease to exist without, the NFL is putting
the lives and welfare of the players and their families at risk. Money must become a
secondary concern when one is dealing with a person s safety on the football field.
The league cannot continue to put the lives of its employees at risk in order to
avoid money loss. The National Football League is not doing enough to prevent
concussions from continually occurring in the league today and a change in policy is
mandatory in order to provide a safe environment for its players. Nothing matters
more than a person s
Describe The Relationship Between Clausula And The
Early...
The most important feature of medieval music is that a lot of musical theories and
techniques which people use these days were settled in this period. Composers need a
musical notation to express their musical ideas as composers need language and
letters to communicate with other people.
Body: (1300)
In the late thirteenth century, a genre Motet became popular as organum and
conductus were gradually disappeared and fell out of fashion . This genre is similar
to the way that a textual trope and sequence are originated from Gregorian Chants.
The Motet was created on the basis of the discant clausula. In Notre Dame School in
twelfth and thirteenth centuries, because Leonin s clausula was able to be
substituted for Perotin s new clausula, the clausula began to be treated as an
independent composition in those days. Therefore, the clausula began to take on a
life of its own, a life that was responsible for the creation of the motet. ... Show more

The first is that the works as in clausula or motets with the same context can be
written and composed by musicians and performers might modify those compositions
over time while they sang. The second idea is that the musicians had added texts to
melismetic music. It was a little development that could identify what motet is. That
is, composers could include more vocal parts such as duplum and triplum. Motet is
evolved from a textual trope of a clausula to a newly composed piece valued for its
complex patterns and multiple layers of meaning. Philippe de Vitry and Guillaume
de Machaut in the following century were also the leading composers of medieval
The Importance Of Entrepreneurship
A remarkable amount of people most definitely agree that an entrepreneur is someone
who started his or her business. Understand that this bland definition does not quite
give a full understanding of entrepreneurship. When launching any form of
entrepreneurial leap, it will create circumstances that can make you better as a person
mentally, physically, spiritually. By understanding your passion and visualizing the
dreams you possess can push start your drive to become an entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurship also requires a massive amount of trust in not only for yourself but
your product and employees. At one point of most entrepreneurs life they have gone
through the worst imaginable, having resilience most definitely sets them apart from
the average. Even though it is extremely difficult to accept tough times, your dream
should not go on pause. As an entrepreneur having patience and controlling the
situation, especially tough ones is a major key factor on entrepreneurship. Thus being
said there are 5 great qualities that describe a successful entrepreneur resilience,
agility, Patience, trust, and passion.

Solar Energy And Renewable Energy
The search for cost effective and efficient renewable energy is becoming an
increasingly important area of study. According to Sampaio, with the increase of
population and technologic and economic development, human beings need more
energy to create a better life environment. Fossil fuel energy sources, while cost
effective, have major environmental impacts that add to global warming, acid rain,
and climate change. One renewable resource that is sustainable and readily abundant
is solar energy, which is a reasonable and readily available replacement for fossil fuel
energy sources globally. Solar energy is considered renewable because it is a
natural source of energy that is not depleted when used, as it will take Harvesting
and converting the energy delivered to Earth by the sun makes sense in many
regions of the world. The sun is Earth s main source of energy and is the original
source of energy stored in fossil fuels. Rather than harvest dirty fuels that take
millions of years to form, why not go to the primary source of that energy and find a
way to harvest it like the plants that formed into fossil fuels did? The process of
converting light energy into electricity or heat is called photovoltaics. According to
Hosenuzzaman, photovoltaics is the direct conversion system that converts sunlight
into electricity without the help of machines or mobile devices. Solar radiation is
converted to electricity in materials that are called semiconductors. The material that

Workplace Diversity Within A Women s Perspective
In this report, the group has been entrusted with the task of researching issues of
workplace diversity in an engineering profession, (mainly from a women s
perspective), i.e., limitations in which women experience through a daily basis. In

Miss Chopsticks Analysis
In developing countries like China, the wealth gap between one another can be
unbelievably enormous. Beijing, one of the most prosperous cities in China is well
known for it s developments of the newest and advanced technology. On the other
hand, absurd traditions such as foot binding, may still exist in distant villages and
towns. To clarify, rural communities often occupy outdated information, whereas
those who live in modern society follows the progression of the human civilization in
the new era. Fortunately, as the acknowledgment of the importance of education
increases, genderprejudice is starting to decline as a result of the new generation
receiving unbiased information from institutions. The novel Miss Chopsticks by Xue

leveled many criticisms against the old family system and especially the ways it

I chose to write about the art piece by Thomas Moran after going to the Museum of
Fine Arts in Houston. While walking through the buildings I saw a mass of artwork
that ranged from gold artifacts to paintings. I have to say that it was a lot to take in
but I chose the painting by Thomas Moran called the Stranded Ship on East Hampton
Beach. I liked the paintingwith the raging water crashing on the beach with the
stranded ship in the distance. I really like the contrast of the dark waves with the
white spray on the beach and white caps on the waves. It seems to tell how
dangerous the waves can be but there is a lot of flow. The waves seem to be choppy
but big and dangerous but I can feel the sense of movement and the windblowing. It...

Examples Of Interpersonal Skills
Interpersonal skills are only learned through their practice. Do you agree?
When we talk about interpersonal skills we are talking about the skills used by a
person to interact with each other in a proper way (Collins 2014, Collins
dictionary). This term can be used in more than one context like when we talk about
interpersonal skills within a business organisation we are talking about the ability of
the employees to get along with other and get the job done. Under the umbrella of the
term interpersonal skills there are a lot of other skills that fall under it from
communication and listening skills to attitude and deportment. The communication
used can be verbal and non verbal, interpersonal communication is not just about the
message but also the language used and the way it s said.
When we are in a company of someone, on stage we tend to behave differently

This theory was developed by Brown and Levinson (1978, 1987) clarifies the way
how we manage our identities through our interactions. Brown and Levinson

way we talk and present ourselves .The first assumption that guides the politeness
theory is that all individuals are concerned with keeping the face ( Brown and
Levinson ,1978 ,1987 ).the face refers to the image you want to present to others.
There are two dimensions for the concept there s the positive face and the negative
face, where the positive face involves the person s desire to be liked and admired by
selected persons, on the other hand the negative face involves the individual to act
freely and without imposition from others (Brown and Levinson, 1978,

The book Napoleon by Paul Johnson is a monograph on the life of Napoleon.
Napoleon was born on August 15,1769 on an island called Corsica which was a
French island south of the mainland. Ironically his future enemy Duke of
Wellington was also born in 1769. Napoleon was born in the lower nobility class,
and gifted with mathematics. He admired the Royal Navy and wanted to join as a
midshipman. At the age of ten, Napoleon left Corsica for a military school in
Brienne, France. On completion of his studies at Brienne in 1784, Napoleon was
admitted to the elite military school in Paris. He trained to become an artilleryofficer.
His full height was five feet and five inches tall and Napoleon was promoted to first
lieutenant by 1791. Napoleon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Napoleon somehow managed to sneak out of the island and escape back to paris.
Troops and civilians immediately began to rally in his return. Napoleon was
declared an outlaw by rest of europe. Napoleon then went of the offensive and
attacked belgium, where the British and Prussian armies were camped. The british
and prussians defeated Napoleon for the last time and exiled him to St. Helena
where he would later die on May 5, 1821.
Paul Johnsons purpose for writing Napoleon is really to inform the reader. The book
covers the main things in his life from the day he is born to the day the dies. The
author writes in chronological order really showing what affected young Napoleon
while growing up shaped him to be an excellent leader and military expert. The
book showed little insight into his personal life mostly ones military campaign. The
author really tells the life of Napoleon in only a couple hundred pages so I feel a lot
of details were missing. I think reading another monograph on Napoleon would be
helpful to really compare the difference between two different authors, and their
approach they took for writing a monograph.
The author really does fit a lot of information in this book. If you were someone
who wanted to learn about Napoleon, this is a book you can pick up and read in a
short amount of time. While you will still finish the book knowing almost everything
you need to know about Napoleon. Some other monographs on

Wills Problem: The Estate of Jackie Kennedy Onassis
1.The overall testamentary plan seems to be that Jackie Kennedy Onassis (testator)
estate was allocated proportionately to those people she deemed to be the closest to
her. Thus, the further away from Jackie via bloodline, the less the person inherited
and the less personal the gifts seemed to be. The majority of her real and personal
property was left to her children, while friends and other relatives received legacy
gifts. Some of the gifts to her friends were very specific (as in question 3), so it is
likely that there was some sort of sentimental value between Jackie, the devisee, and
the property in question. Whole blooded relatives received a larger portion than her ...

The modern Stage 3 rule, UPC В§ 2 603, saves devisees to three basic groups:
grandparents, descendants of grandparents, and stepchildren. This UPC Stage 3
rule does not apply to non relatives whatsoever. Jackie Kennedy Onassis left gifts to
Mellon, Tempelsman, and Forger, but she listed them in her will as friends .
Because they predeceased the testator and no alternative beneficiaries were stated
for their gifts, one must look to see if there is an applicable Stage 2 anti lapse
statute. Under both Stage 2 and Stage 3 majority rules, anti lapse statutes do not
protect friends ; therefore the gifts would fail. It is possible that First D could be
construed as naming Jackie s children as alternate beneficiaries if First A, B, C
failed, so the testator s surviving children would take these gifts.

Causes of Macbeths Downfall
Causes of Macbeths Downfall Essay
By Jordan Koorey
Shakespeare s Macbeth, based on a play written in 1605 explores the life journey of
Macbeth as he climbs the ladder of the social hierarchy. Determined to become King,
Macbeth will kill any and all that get in his way. Driven by ambition, Macbeth puts
his faith in the words and prophecies of three witches after a prediction that Macbeth
would gain the new title of Thane of Cawdor. Alongside with ambition, Lady
Macbeth, is a key instrument to Macbeths ambition to become king, continuously
pressuring him, when he fears he has gone too in his schemes for greatness. We can
definitely see a well regarded and loyal soldier of the Scottish army change to a
murderous tyrant. His downfall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the lead up to the event of King Duncan s murder Lady Macbeth tricks Macbeth
into killing Duncan by using her cunning and complicated words. She makes
Macbeth think that he has to kill Duncan for his benefit. Lady Macbeth deceives
him into thinking that only he would gain more power, and it wouldn t benefit her.
Lady Macbeth counters Macbeths arguments by saying that he needs to muster up
all of his courage, and just follow here directions. Lady Macbeth plans the murder
strategies, and influences Macbeth to go along with her strategy. Macbeth doesn t
want to kill a good king for his own ambitions, but is persuaded to do it. From Lady
Macbeth persuading him to kill Duncan, the first evil act he commits, he is drawn
into believing the witches prophecies, and takes action to make them come true.
Through various quotes by Lady Macbeth, it is evident to say that with each other
by their sides, was a negative influence to the lead up of Macbeths downfall. Lady
Macbeth blames her husband for lacking the courage to do the deed, and because
Macbeth is a warrior above everything else, her comments manipulate him a good
deal. Indeed, manliness is an idea the play interrogates in various ways, such as
when Macbeth says I dare do all that may become a man who dares do more is none
(1.7.46 47). This is the belief that his wife use against him: When you durst do
Air Raid Women
Since men are leaving to serve their country, it was time for women to get
employed in order to provide her family with income. At first, women were offered
simple jobs by the government but they knew that they are able to do better. Some
women worked at factories to produce military weapons, ships and airplane, some
of those women worked had additional jobs where they worked at auxiliary
services such as the air raid wardens ; an air raid warden is when the Prime
Minister of Britain published a circular entitled the ARP (Air Raid Precautions,
inviting local authorities to make plans to protect their people in the war in
September 1935 . Other women worked as drivers of fire engines and trains and
some where conductors and nurses. Therefore,
Analysis Of The Garden Of Forking Paths By Jose Borges
What are the labyrinths in the Borges story and what fantasy themes/issues do they
illustrate? To me, this response paper is an attempt to ponder, explore and, possibly,
answer this question. In doing so, I will connect my interpretations with the personal
experience in order to critically reflect on the meaning of labyrinths in Borges s story.
Overall, I argue that the labyrinths help me understand how the fantasies of time and
imagination of nature are intricately connected with the male centered sociopolitical
fantasy of triumph, motivation and desire. Through my interpretations, I aim not only
to reflect on my own fantasies, but also to imagine my future as a criminal and
environmental lawyer. In The Garden of Forking... Show more content on

Being stumbled and perplexed by this unexpected multiplicity of time, I had to re
read the story more than once, and each time I found new meanings. I asked
myself, Who gets to make these historical decisions and, consequently, create and
recreate time and choices? Who benefits from these decisions that seem to be
grounded in male centered fantasies of the German rulers, spies, and other heroes?
What is nature in this story? The more I try to grasp the ungraspable meaning of
the story itself, the more I realize that the story can not be understood in linear
dimensions. I have to enter the labyrinth and journey together with Dr. Tsun s
monologues and dialogues, as well as I have to enter into the labyrinth of my sense
of self. In doing so, I can develop a personal connection with this story and
understand it better. First of all, I think that Tsun was motivated by his resistance to
German nationalism and racism of the time. He served Germany not to support their
war, but to win his own battle field. He wanted to combat the dominant
sociopolitical fantasy of his life. Even though the German chiefs perceived him as
being racially inferior to them, Tsun was highly motivated and driven to disprove this
socially unjust fantasy. His desire to triumph over racism has led him to find inner
strength in his past. Personally, I am surprised by Tsun s cultivated desire to win over
the dominant fantasy and to resist social injustice. I don t understand how one might

And thus secondarily, he needs to present a feasible reason for being alone and stranded with copious amounts of treasure for safety reasons as well as to allay suspicion in relation to his identity. Hence, this absence of kleos portrays Odysseus as calculating, merciless and dishonorable. This would warn the shepherd not to try to steal from Odysseus as Orsilokhos attempted because Odysseus does not care for glory and will slaughter him in any way he can whether or not it damages his reputation. The images evoked from Troy, all I had fought and bled for , serve to somewhat justify his murder of Orsilokhos and show some appreciation for honest work, when it serves him, and could function to make the shepherd feel less fear towards a murderous foreigner. Mostly, this information gives the shepherd a distinct warning not to attempt to harm or steal from him because not only is he a hardened warrior who survived a ten year war at Troy, but he has already murdered royalty, dishonorably, in his own homeland for trying to take his hard earned possessions. Obviously, he would have no qualms about killing a shepherd in a different country for attempting the same. Odysseus also mentions that he was not subservient to Idomeneus at Troy. He even led a command of men not under Idomeneus, which would be skirting on treason. Though it was not admirable to disregard duty, it allowed Odysseus a unit of men who would presumably die for him and could potentially be used to overthrow Idomeneus

There wasn t one incident that can be attributed to causing the revolution by it s self. To understand how the revolution was able to take place we must understand the structure of Russia s society from the late 1800 s until when the revolutions took place in 1917. Before the year 1917 Russia had been an autocracy, this means that one man alone had complete power over the whole of Russia. This man was known as the Tsar. In this thesis he stated that he wanted all of the land and wealth in Russia to be re distributed evenly amongst all of the people. He states that a highly organised party will be needed to bring about the revolutions that will achieve a socialist state. In short Lenin wanted a radical shake up in Russia with a communist system in place, resulting in a socialist state where everyone is equal and has equal land. Again this is quite a major factor in contributing to the revolution because of the effect that it has on the party. These radical ideas that Lenin has caused a split in the Russian Social Democratic party. In 1903 it split into the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks, the Bolsheviks being led by Lenin and the Mensheviks being led by Martov. Stalin went with the Bolsheviks and Trotsky went with the Mensheviks. The Bolshevik party that was formed was the main contributor to the revolution in 1917 as they were the ones that would eventually overthrow the provisional government. However that revolution would never have been able to take place without the social and political factors in Russia at the time, as well as the contribution of the First World War. In the year 1905 the Tsar faced two very tough tests in order to remain in control of Russia. First of all there was an attempted revolution by the

  • 7. The Great Influenza Rhetorical Analysis Brilliant author, John M. Barry, once proclaimed, Uncertainty makes one tentative if not fearful, and tentative steps, even when in the right direction, may not overcome significant obstacles... It is the courage to accept indeed, embrace uncertainty (Barry 3 5 9 10). These quotes can be traced back to John M. Barry s passage of The Great Influenza, where he writes an account about the 1918 flu epidemic that struck the world. In his account, he goes into further explanation about the rigors and fulfillment of being a scientist, and simultaneously, discusses the tedious process of their research. Ultimately, society is educated that the life of a scientist should not be absolute, but it should consist of persistence and courage. In John M. Barry s The Great Influenza, the author employs innovative metaphors and unique rhetorical questions to portray scientific research. Throughout the entirety of the passage, Barry utilizes innovative metaphors to illustrate scientific research. Metaphors are comparison between two or more objects that are of different natures. For example, the author states, The best among them move deep into a wilderness region where they know almost nothing, where the very tools and techniques needed to clear the wilderness, to bring order to it, do not exist (Barry 25 29). Here, Barry is fundamentally capturing the essence of science. In other words, he says that the most intuitive scientists, or they , are those who valiantly venture off to

Nutella Makes Up for Cocoa Shortage During World War II The period was World War II there was a shortage of cocoa at the time; Mr. Pietro Ferrero, a pastry maker founder of the Ferrero company thought that using hazelnuts and mixing it with skim milk and a little of chocolate would be a good way to appease the short supply of cocoa by allowing chocolate to last longer. About 200 million years ago, the world continent split into a northern and a southern land mass. The northern continent, Neogea, consisted of what is now North America, Europe, and Asia; the southern continent, Gondwanaland, was made up of South America, Africa, Australia, India, and Antarctica. About 130 million years ago, South American separated from the rest of Gondwanaland and became, in effect, a gigantic island; its creatures, which included marsupials and edentates precursors of today s sloths, anteaters and armadillos developed in isolation. North America separated from Eurasia much later; by then it was already well populated with the ancestors of our cats, dogs, rodents, weasels, and other present day mammals. Though W.E.B. Du Bois wrote this quote well over a century ago, it still reflects the truth we hold today. These reforms encompass everything from the use of solitary confinement to guidelines that prevent a youth from even entering the institutional side of juvenile justice by using community resources (E. Restorative justice looks at accountability a bit differently from previous classic models. In the past, accountability was about the punishment matching the crime which boils down to the classic biblical thought, an eye for an eye. Restorative justice defines accountability as taking responsibility for your behavior and taking action to repair the harm (BARJ, 1995). Instead of completing a punishment unrelated to the victims, in restorative justice, an offender must come to terms with the outcome of their behavior to the victims and other vital stakeholders in an effort to help heal all parties. They depend on us for everything they need to survive. There are so many decisions we must make on their behalf. What kind of food should we feed them? When is it time to see a veterinarian? These are all choices we make to ensure they live healthy and happy lives. One of the most controversial decisions we are faced with is whether or not to spay or neuter our pets. Some people feel that it is an unnecessary surgery, while others see it as a means to an end for pet overpopulation. I personally feel that in order to make the best decision, we need to be sure we have the correct facts. First we will cover the topic of pet overpopulation. It is estimated by The Humane Society of the United States that approximately six to eight million pets are brought in to animal shelters every year. Sadly, more than half of these pets are euthanized due to overpopulation. That means that these pets are being killed purely because there isn t enough room to house them. • 17. Comparison Of Veterinary And Human Anesthesia In Veterinary and human anesthesia: an overview of some parallels and contrasts Clark reports that veterinary anesthesia is a specialty (Clark). If this part of veterinary medicine is important enough to form a specialty based on it, why are we not doing more to ensure that all animals undergoing anesthesia are receiving proper care? This specialty requires veterinarians to undergo at least one to two more years of training after graduating from veterinary school and to have a three year residency to be eligible to sit for boards and to obtain this specialty (Clark). With this much work and effort being put in by some veterinarians to train in anesthesia, it would seem that many people feel that this is an important area to focus on in veterinary medicine. If this is true, why are some people ignoring the need for better anesthetic care for animals? According to Clark this is in part due to the cost of providing medical care to animals. (Clark). While this might be true that veterinary care can be expensive to the clinic, this could still be improved by having at least one trained and certified technician on the staff who is responsible for monitoring anesthesia. Animals undergoing an anesthetic procedure are often grouped into different classes of risk based what the veterinarian feels the animals overall health is and how necessary he feels the surgeryis to the animal s survival and what he feels the expected outcome of the surgery might be. This strategy galvanized the levying of higher tariffs on goods entering from foreign markets which protected central Canadian manufacturers from the intense American market. This policy also restored the confidence of Canadians in the development of local industries. The extra funds generated by this protectionist policy, therefore, aided the dream of constructing a transcontinental railway across Canadaand helped Canadians to regain confidence in the economy after the devastating Depression in the 1870s and failed reciprocity agreements with the United States. While these foreign companies created jobs, it outcompeted the local Canadian owned companies. Also, foreign markets tend to exploit the value of resources which weakens the local economy. After the implementation of the National Policy in 1878, there was a doubling of the numbers of labourers in Ontario and Quebec. As a result, the wages in this region were doubled. This was highly favoured as the four years of economic depression caused a scarcity of jobs and a decline in the development of Canada. The most important feature of medieval music is that a lot of musical theories and techniques which people use these days were settled in this period. Composers need a musical notation to express their musical ideas as composers need language and letters to communicate with other people. Body: (1300) In the late thirteenth century, a genre Motet became popular as organum and conductus were gradually disappeared and fell out of fashion . This genre is similar to the way that a textual trope and sequence are originated from Gregorian Chants. The Motet was created on the basis of the discant clausula. In Notre Dame School in twelfth and thirteenth centuries, because Leonin s clausula was able to be substituted for Perotin s new clausula, the clausula began to be treated as an independent composition in those days. Napoleon was born on August 15,1769 on an island called Corsica which was a French island south of the mainland. Ironically his future enemy Duke of Wellington was also born in 1769. Napoleon was born in the lower nobility class, and gifted with mathematics. He admired the Royal Navy and wanted to join as a midshipman. At the age of ten, Napoleon left Corsica for a military school in Brienne, France. On completion of his studies at Brienne in 1784, Napoleon was admitted to the elite military school in Paris. He trained to become an artilleryofficer. His full height was five feet and five inches tall and Napoleon was promoted to first lieutenant by 1791. Napoleon... The british and prussians defeated Napoleon for the last time and exiled him to St. Helena where he would later die on May 5, 1821. Paul Johnsons purpose for writing Napoleon is really to inform the reader. The book covers the main things in his life from the day he is born to the day the dies. The author writes in chronological order really showing what affected young Napoleon while growing up shaped him to be an excellent leader and military expert. The book showed little insight into his personal life mostly ones military campaign. The author really tells the life of Napoleon in only a couple hundred pages so I feel a lot of details were missing. I think reading another monograph on Napoleon would be helpful to really compare the difference between two different authors, and their approach they took for writing a monograph. The author really does fit a lot of information in this book. If you were someone who wanted to learn about Napoleon, this is a book you can pick up and read in a short amount of time. While you will still finish the book knowing almost everything you need to know about Napoleon. Some other monographs on

  • 39. Wills Law Essay Wills Problem: The Estate of Jackie Kennedy Onassis 1.The overall testamentary plan seems to be that Jackie Kennedy Onassis (testator) estate was allocated proportionately to those people she deemed to be the closest to her. Thus, the further away from Jackie via bloodline, the less the person inherited and the less personal the gifts seemed to be. The majority of her real and personal property was left to her children, while friends and other relatives received legacy gifts. Some of the gifts to her friends were very specific (as in question 3), so it is likely that there was some sort of sentimental value between Jackie, the devisee, and the property in question. Whole blooded relatives received a larger portion than her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This UPC Stage 3 rule does not apply to non relatives whatsoever. Jackie Kennedy Onassis left gifts to Mellon, Tempelsman, and Forger, but she listed them in her will as friends . Because they predeceased the testator and no alternative beneficiaries were stated for their gifts, one must look to see if there is an applicable Stage 2 anti lapse statute. Under both Stage 2 and Stage 3 majority rules, anti lapse statutes do not protect friends ; therefore the gifts would fail. It is possible that First D could be construed as naming Jackie s children as alternate beneficiaries if First A, B, C failed, so the testator s surviving children would take these gifts. 3.Jackie Kennedy Onassis left Maurice Tempelsman in FIRST B, a Greek alabaster head of a woman. If at the time of her death she no longer owned this Greek alabaster head, would Mr. Tempelsman receive a Roman alabaster head of a woman that was purchased by the testator after the making of the will? Determined to become King, Macbeth will kill any and all that get in his way. Driven by ambition, Macbeth puts his faith in the words and prophecies of three witches after a prediction that Macbeth would gain the new title of Thane of Cawdor. She makes Macbeth think that he has to kill Duncan for his benefit. Lady Macbeth deceives him into thinking that only he would gain more power, and it wouldn t benefit her. Lady Macbeth counters Macbeths arguments by saying that he needs to muster up all of his courage, and just follow here directions. Lady Macbeth plans the murder strategies, and influences Macbeth to go along with her strategy. Macbeth doesn t want to kill a good king for his own ambitions, but is persuaded to do it. From Lady Macbeth persuading him to kill Duncan, the first evil act he commits, he is drawn into believing the witches prophecies, and takes action to make them come true. Through various quotes by Lady Macbeth, it is evident to say that with each other by their sides, was a negative influence to the lead up of Macbeths downfall. Lady Macbeth blames her husband for lacking the courage to do the deed, and because Macbeth is a warrior above everything else, her comments manipulate him a good deal. • 44. Analysis Of The Garden Of Forking Paths By Jose Borges What are the labyrinths in the Borges story and what fantasy themes/issues do they illustrate? To me, this response paper is an attempt to ponder, explore and, possibly, answer this question. In doing so, I will connect my interpretations with the personal experience in order to critically reflect on the meaning of labyrinths in Borges s story. Overall, I argue that the labyrinths help me understand how the fantasies of time and imagination of nature are intricately connected with the male centered sociopolitical fantasy of triumph, motivation and desire. Through my interpretations, I aim not only to reflect on my own fantasies, but also to imagine my future as a criminal and environmental lawyer. In The Garden of Forking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being stumbled and perplexed by this unexpected multiplicity of time, I had to re read the story more than once, and each time I found new meanings. I asked myself, Who gets to make these historical decisions and, consequently, create and recreate time and choices? Who benefits from these decisions that seem to be grounded in male centered fantasies of the German rulers, spies, and other heroes? What is nature in this story? The more I try to grasp the ungraspable meaning of the story itself, the more I realize that the story can not be understood in linear dimensions. I have to enter the labyrinth and journey together with Dr. Tsun s monologues and dialogues, as well as I have to enter into the labyrinth of my sense of self. In doing so, I can develop a personal connection with this story and understand it better. First of all, I think that Tsun was motivated by his resistance to German nationalism and racism of the time. He served Germany not to support their war, but to win his own battle field. He wanted to combat the dominant sociopolitical fantasy of his life. Even though the German chiefs perceived him as being racially inferior to them, Tsun was highly motivated and driven to disprove this socially unjust fantasy. His desire to triumph over racism has led him to find inner strength in his past. Personally, I am surprised by Tsun s cultivated desire to win over the dominant fantasy and to resist social injustice. I don t understand how one might
