This document summarizes the key differences between ordinary and industrial billing processes at an electric utility. It outlines the different sections responsible for customer accounts, revenue and recovery, and customer care for industrial customers. Meter reading, bill calculation, tariffs, and theft detection processes are described for industrial billing.
An insightful look at the key rules and regulations underpinning DUoS (Distribution Use of System) charges – typically 20 to 25% of the electricity bill. Learn about how the regulation is set and amended, opportunities and risks for your energy users, and get an update on recent and current changes and how they could impact you.

This case study illustrates how a customer has saved money by installing FuelSafe from Ideonics for diesel monitoring in generators. By correctly identifying the Consumption per hour of the generator and thus plugging unreasonable claims, FuelSafe helped the customer save a significant amount of money.
Fuel monitoring, diesel pilferage prevention for diesel generators with ideon...Ideonics
FuelSafe from Ideonics can help in monitoring diesel usage in generators. The innovative probe developed by Ideonics gives an accuracy of 1 mm in fuel heightand helps in providing accurate information about fuel fills and drains. With additional information such as running time of the generator, consumption per hour of the generator it helps one take full control of fuel expenses incurred in running the generator.
As an attorney, Joe Tacopina has been involved in a number of high-profile cases, including the “Morgue Boys” case in 1995 and the Abner Louima case in 2000. In the latter case, Joe Tacopina represented a police officer charged with covering up the brutality of other officers in the case. The charges were overturned on appeal, making it one of the most famous cases in the history of the New York Police Department.

ABT (Availability Based Tariff) - UI (Unscheduled Interchange)shyamies11
Availability Based Tariff was implemented in India in 2002-03. This presentation includes the chloronological sequence of events that led to the implementation of ABT . This also introduced a new concept of UI (Unscheduled Interchange) to rein in the wide excursion of grid frequency beyond the acceptable limits by imposition of fiscal disincentives for grid indiscipline by any regional or intra-regional entity
It is a presentation about GIS in RAPDRP project. DISCOM can use GIS tools and data for their betterment to navigation towards their electrical assets & for calculation of AT&C losses.
Payback and Process- Energy Monitoring PaybackHelioPower
This article highlights the direct and indirect payback from energy monitoring. Direct payback comes from changes in organizational behavior while indirect payback comes from altering tariff schedules and usage practices, billing and peak demand, and load profiling. There is a great visual flow graph on the last page. Payback is dependent on monitoring key variables and these variables can’t be identified without monitoring. Two very illustrative case studies on a school and manufacturing plant and included to prove the point of energy monitoring further.

5. Meter Reading
• Readings are recorded on separate Meter Route Sheets in
most of the IBC’s of consumers having one or more meters.
• Meter reading is conducted through a device in few IBC of
Industrial consumers as well.
• Information in Meter Route Sheet include:

Remarks
Power Factor: Ratio expressed as a % of Kilowatts Hours to the
Kilovolts ampere hour consumed during the month. In case,
connections where KVA meters do not exist and KVAR meters
are installed, Power Factor shall be the ratio of KWH to square
root of sum of KWH and KVARH.

11. REVENUE PROTECTION AND
RECOVERY (RPR)
RPR Section is Responsible for the following:
• Maintaining and calculating data for
Distribution losses
• Theft detection
• Removal of discrepancies & meter change
• Recovery of dues through disconnection and
reconnection.
12. Theft Detection
• Theft bills are finalized within a month after removal of defective meter/
identification of any discrepancy.
• Consumer will not be charged or given benefit if meter is reported to be
slow or fast up to 3%.
• In case of slowness or fastness found more than 3%, consumer is then
charged or allowed benefit on actual slowness or fastness.
• NSB/IRB is debited on load basis over 22 working hours per day & 26 days
in a month.
• Recently manual billing has now become automated using Excel
Programming.
• In case of defective meters/equipments, detection bill raised take into
consideration the following:
i. Consumption recorded by old meter when working properly,
ii. Consumption of new meter.
iii. Load basis.
REVENUE PROTECTION & RECOVERY
