This presentation discusses an Indian wedding using the McKinsey 7S framework. It analyzes the key elements of an Indian wedding through the lens of Strategy, Structure, Shared Values, Skills, Staff, Style, and Systems. Some highlights include outlining the importance of brand, astrology, managing the large logistics of 500+ guests, and using project management techniques to plan the multi-day event. Photos from weddings show celebrations such as dancing, processions, and exchanging garlands during the marriage ceremony.

Firms that want to be successful now and in future have to integrate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) due to the increasingly competitive business environment, more and more conscious consumers and increasing price of resources. For achieving a positive impact on othe organizations' outcomes as well as on economy, society and environment, CSR has to be fully embedded in organizations and everybody has to be committed to it.
Purpose: How is it possible to continuously motivate managers for CSR by using transformational leadership in CSR meetings?
Results: Transformational leadership clearly motivates managers for CSR in meetings, because it enhances trust and understanding. Leaders can increase motivation by applying transformational leadership behaviors.

WORK 3.0 - reimagining-leadership-in-a-hybrid-world-research-report-ID.pdfAvida Virya
Saya ingat ketika awal-awal masa pandemi Covid-19. Cemas setiap bulan, ketika HR Department mengeluarkan kebijakan Work From Home (--istilah yang kemudian berkembang menjadi Work Out of Office, lalu berkembang menjadi Work From Anywhere -- alias terserah kamu mau bekerja dari mana, yang penting hasilnya ada).
It is about TRUST and TRUSTED.

Sorting Truth from Myth regarding Millennial Pay
Millennials are growing up...and have taken over majority status in today's workforce. As a result, if you lead a company, odds are you have a significant block of employees who fall in this category within your organization. You have probably likewise concluded that this group is a breed apart from those you’ve previously dealt with…so when it comes to constructing an effective pay plan, you’re at a loss. Among other things, you may have bought into the conventional wisdom that says millennials are not loyal to a company and therefore traditional forms of pay won’t appeal to them. If these are issues you’re facing, you will not want to miss this broadcast.

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

1. BIG FAT INDIAN WEDDING
M for MANAGEMENT, M for MARRIAGE
PRESENTED BY:
ASHISH KAPOOR
2. The Journey…
McKinsey 7S Framework for Strategy
The 7 Elements
Project Management and PRINCE2
Videos and Pictures
3. The McKinsey 7S Framework
Developed in the early 1980s by Tom Peters and Robert
Waterman, two consultants working at the McKinsey &
Company consulting firm.
The basic premise of the model is that there are seven
internal aspects of an organization that need to be
aligned if it is to be successful.
The McKinsey 7S model can be applied to elements of a
team or a project. This is useful to:
Improve the performance of a company
Align departments or processes
Implement a proposed strategy
5. The Seven Elements
Hard Elements Soft Elements
Strategy Shared Values
Structure Skills
Systems Style
Staff
Hard Elements
Easier to define and identify
Tangible and management can directly influence them
Soft Elements
More difficult to describe
Less tangible and more influenced by culture
6. Strategy
“The plan devised to maintain and build competitive
advantage over the competition.”
The JV partners should be preferably of the same caste
and SHOULD be of the same religion
The BRAND is extremely important.
The GUY's brand is stamped by educational qualifications
and salary package that one has.
The GIRL's brand is stamped by the number of qualities she
possesses (which are cooking, cooking and cooking). The
world knows INDIANS love their food.
The fluency of English will be a very important factor for a
great brand image.
7. Structure
“The way the organization is structured and who reports to
whom“
Authority and relationship between the individuals;
Centralized or decentralized decision making
This is the make or break round for the marriage – caste
system, astrology, planetary movements etc…
The ROI or Net IRR is equivalent to the number of planets
that match in the horoscope or the castes of the JV partners
Similar to the business case, the project will be a “Good to
Go” if the above figures look good to the management.
8. Systems
“The daily activities and processes that staff members engage
to get the work done.”
Project Management:
Planning
Delegation
Outsource
People Management, Logistics & Supply Chain
Average number of people per wedding are about 500
Management of diverse people. Come to think of it, every peson
who has organized an Indian wedding has potential CEO skills!
Disaster Management
When the power back up goes off, when the drinking water gets
over, when the food plates fall way too short, better still, when
the women of the house come late from the beauty parlor…you
better have a Plan B under your sleeves!
Believe it or not, but India has one of the best process of
disaster management. May it be the Commonwealth Games
2010 or else an Indian wedding, problems are bound to happen.
The best part is that everything works at the end of the day…
9. Systems…What is a Project?
A unique endeavour to produce a set of deliverables
within clearly specified time, cost and quality
constraints. Projects are:
Unique
Defined timescale
Approved Budget
Limited Resources
Element of Risk
10. System…What is Project Management?
Project Management is the skills, tools and management
processes required to undertake a project successfully.
Project Management comprises of:
A set of SKILLS
Business Analysts, Project Managers, Risk Analysts…
A suite of TOOLS
Document templates, modelling tools, planning software…
A series of PROCESSES
Time management, cost management, change management…
12. A Project…Indian wedding?
A unique endeavour to produce a set of deliverables
within clearly specified time, cost and quality
constraints. Projects are:
Scope
On an average 4-5 functions over 2 week
Mostly a scope creep in terms of guests
Schedule
Deadline oriented with fixed dates
Resources
Generally family based; on occasion wedding planners
Cost
Budgets range from $ 34000 - $ 2 million
Average Australian wedding costs $ 30,000
14. Skills
“The actual skills and competencies of the employees working
for the company”
Arranged Marriage v/s Love Marriage
Networking is the key to a good marriage alliance in India.
Guy and Girl are the business model or the idea
Parents are the angel investors or project sponsors
Management aka parents at both sides should finally sign off on
this project
15. Style
“The style of leadership adopted”
A definite top-down approach generally from the girl's
side (the girls parents will arrange/fund the wedding).
The other style is throw money, some more money and
loads of money - 5 star hotels, high class make-up
artists, luxury resorts, helicopters getting gifted, big
shot politicians & film stars in your marriage- that’s the
ticket to get one's marriage video footage in the
newspapers!
Average cost of an Indian wedding being $ 34000 --> $ 2
million. The equivalent Aussie figure being $ 30000.
However, Vanisha Mittal’s (daughter of steel magnate -
Lakshmi Mittal) $ 78 million wedding still is the epitome of a
GRAND Indian Style Wedding

17. Staff
“The employees and their general capabilities”
CEO: The father
Board of Directors: The Brother Hood of Fathers
Advisory Council: The Bride – After all, everything HAS to happen
the way she wants it!
Visiting Dignitaries: The cousins from abroad specially USA and
London (that will have the maximum number of Indian population).
PR Manager – The Person who ensures that the wedding pics are
published in Page 3 of Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore Times
Operations: The young guys – they are after all expected to run
around and gain experience. Only then can they be promoted to the
Board of Directors in future!
The Underperformers: Are the ones who are generally drunk all
through the wedding rituals – the non-working employees.
CSR In-Charge: It’s still a very nascent idea in India, but
nevertheless, there are people in families who ensure that left over
food is not thrown out and instead given to the needy people or
cows.
18. Shared Values
“These are the core values of the company that are
evidenced in the corporate culture and the general work
ethic”
The corporate culture
Belief, attitude and passion
Thoughts and opinion
Shared Values are the biggest connecting factor between
organizations, projects, teams, religion and countries. And
not to forget an Indian wedding.
The important point is to understand these shared values
and more importantly the cross cultural sensitivities in
today’s multi cultural and global environment.
The way the model is presented in Figure 1 below depicts the interdependency of the elements and indicates how a change in one affects all the others.
"Hard" elements are easier to define or identify and management can directly influence them: These are strategy statements; organization charts and reporting lines; and formal processes and IT systems.
