Chapter 7 of the text is a comprehensive Payroll Project that should be completed by you to demonstrate understanding
of the material covered in Chapters 1-6. For each part of the payroll project you should complete the Journal, General
Ledger, Payroll Register, and the Employee Earnings Record as applicable. When completing the Payrolls, complete the
payroll register first, then transfer each employee’s amounts to the Employee Earnings Record, then complete the
Journal entries applicable to the payroll, and then post to the general ledger.
Each Part of the project will be submitted separately for grading, you will submit the entire template, and the instructor
will grade each part separately and award points based on completion and correctness. Be sure to look at the feedback

GETTING STARTED
Download the following file from the SAM website:
· SC_Excel2013_C10_P1a_FirstLastName_1.xlsm
Open the file you just downloaded and save it with the name:
· SC_Excel2013_C10_P1a_FirstLastName_2.xlsm
· Hint: If you do not see the .xlsm file extension in the Save file dialog box, do not type it. Excel will add the file extension for you automatically.
With the file SC_Excel2013_C10_P1a_FirstLastName_2.xlsm still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in cell B6 of the Documentation sheet. If cell B6 does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
If you see a Message Bar with a security warning at top of the Excel window, click the Enable Content button in the Message Bar to enable the macros contained in the file (refer to Figure 1 below).

Over-, night) in cell B15. Set up an area in the range D40:E42 to store Standard
shipping costs $9.50, Express shipping costs $14.50, and Overnight shipping
costs $18.50. Use IF functions to display the costs of the shipping in cell C17. If an

People who travel to Kayonza come back to Kigali with stories of having seen him during the rainy season as the smokes of his fires constantly go up to the skies, like a man cast away and looking for rescue. Those who have travelled and visited relatives with houses on the hills around Lake Muhazi in recent years to observe his activities say that my son sails up and down the lake during the day, busy ferrying passengers with completely covered faces to the other side. Others even claim that they have seen him up close, and that unlike other undead dead people he does not run away or conceal his face when you approach him. He has remained ten years old throughout the years, only bits of his hair are beginning to grey now.
When his boat work is done in the evenings, he plays his flute into the night, calming Lake Muhazi into even more stillness. He plays the flute so dedicatedly, earnestly, its melody so piercing, with sorrow so intense – a child blowing all his young soul into a musical instrument just so our land can heal. His flute wakes God from his deep sleep, – since Damien has already given God a few warnings, I hear – saying to God, “Thou Shalt Not Sleep, never. Not here in Rwanda, not anymore! Chapter 7 of the text is a comprehensive Payroll Project that should be completed by you to demonstrate understanding
of the material covered in Chapters 1-6. For each part of the payroll project you should complete the Journal, General
Ledger, Payroll Register, and the Employee Earnings Record as applicable. When completing the Payrolls, complete the
payroll register first, then transfer each employee’s amounts to the Employee Earnings Record, then complete the
Journal entries applicable to the payroll, and then post to the general ledger.
Each Part of the project will be submitted separately for grading, you will submit the entire template, and the instructor

Patrick Fitzgerald is the director of Career Development at Finn Technical Institute, a local community college. The Institute offers workshops on resume writing, interview techniques, and networking skills, along with job placement services for students at their on-campus career center, Finn Career Center. Patrick has asked for your assistance streamlining the process of entering workshop data into the Finn Career Center online listing. He would also like your help streamlining the form used to update the Center’s mailing list.
GETTING STARTED
Download the following file from the SAM website:
· SC_Excel2013_C10_P1a_FirstLastName_1.xlsm
Open the file you just downloaded and save it with the name:
· SC_Excel2013_C10_P1a_FirstLastName_2.xlsm
· Hint: If you do not see the .xlsm file extension in the Save file dialog box, do not type it. Excel will add the file extension for you automatically.
With the file SC_Excel2013_C10_P1a_FirstLastName_2.xlsm still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in cell B6 of the Documentation sheet. If cell B6 does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
If you see a Message Bar with a security warning at top of the Excel window, click the Enable Content button in the Message Bar to enable the macros contained in the file (refer to Figure 1 below).

To complete this project you will need to display the Developer tab. To add this tab to the Excel ribbon, click on the File tab to open Backstage view and then click Options. In the Excel Options dialog box, click on the Customize Ribbon option and click the Developer check box (refer to Figure 2 below). Click the OK button to close the Excel Options dialog box and confirm the Developer tab appears in the Excel Ribbon.

To complete this project you will need to display the Form button to the Quick Access toolbar. Follow the steps below to add this button to the Quick Access toolbar:
· Right click on the Quick Access toolbar and select the Customize Quick Access Toolbar.
· Select the Commands not in the Ribbon option from the Choose commands from list.

supply store. She needs your help in designing an Excel workbook to enter purchase .
order information. She has already entered the product information on PC-Market's line of
modems. She wants you to insert a lookup function to look up data from the product table.
The company also supports three shipping options that vary in price. She wants the
purchase order worksheet to be able to calculate the total cost of the order, including the
type of shipping the customer requests. She also wants to use advanced filtering to copy
, data on all modems under $50 to a new worksheet to review prices of the inexpensive
items. Finally, she wants to calculate average prices for each category of modems using a
Database function.
Complete the following:
1. Open the Modem workbook located in theTutorial.07\Case1 folder included with
your Data Files, save the workbook as PC Modem in the same folder, and then, in
the Documentation worksheet, enter the date and your name.
2. In the Purchase Order worksheet, Product ID numbers will be entered in cell B5.
Create a lookup function to display the product type in cell C7, the model name in
cell C8, and the price in cell C9. Product information is displayed in the Product List
worksheet.
3. If an incorrect product ID number is entered in cell B5, then cells C7, C8, and C9
will display the #N/A error value. Linda wants these cells to display the message
Product ID not found if the ID entered is not found.
4. Enter one of three shipping options offered by PC-Market (Standard, Express,
Over-, night) in cell B15. Set up an area in the range D40:E42 to store Standard
shipping costs $9.50, Express shipping costs $14.50, and Overnight shipping
costs $18.50. Use IF functions to display the costs of the shipping in cell C17. If an
invalid shipping option is entered in cell B15, then Invalid Shipping option should
appear in cell C17. If the Shipping option, cell B15, is blank, then cell C17 should
be blank. (Hint: The IF functions should reference the cells in the range D40:E42.)
5. Display the total cost of the product (price times quantity) plus shipping in cell Ci 9.
If the cell equals an error value (#Value), display the message Check Product ID,
Quantity, or Shipping option.
6. Test the worksheet using a product ID number of 1050, quantity 2, and the Express
shipping option.
7. In the Summary worksheet, use appropriate functions to determine the average
modem price and count for each modem type.
8. Save and close the workbook. Submit the finished workbook to your instructor,

You can change your view of the worksheet window at any time, using either the View tab on the Ribbon or the View buttons on the status bar. Changing your view does not affect the contents of a worksheet; it just makes it easier for you to focus on different tasks, such as entering content or preparing a worksheet for printing. The View tab includes a variety of viewing options, such as View buttons, zoom controls, and the ability to show or hide worksheet elements such as gridlines. The status bar offers fewer View options but can be more convenient to use. You want to make some final adjustments to your worksheet, including adding a header so the document looks more polished.

, Damien, makes fires that flicker throughout rainy June nights. He moves about the shores of Lake Muhazi, lighting a new fire on a new spot every night. People who travel to Kayonza come back to Kigali with stories of having seen him during the rainy season as the smokes of his fires constantly go up to the skies, like a man cast away and looking for rescue. Those who have travelled and visited relatives with houses on the hills around Lake Muhazi in recent years to observe his activities say that my son sails up and down the lake during the day, busy ferrying passengers with completely covered faces to the other side. Others even claim that they have seen him up close, and that unlike other undead dead people he does not run away or conceal his face when you approach him. He has remained ten years old throughout the years, only bits of his hair are beginning to grey now.
When his boat work is done in the evenings, he plays his flute into the night, calming Lake Muhazi into even more stillness. He plays the flute so dedicatedly, earnestly, its melody so piercing, with sorrow so intense – a child blowing all his young soul into a musical instrument just so our land can heal. His flute wakes God from his deep sleep, – since Damien has already given God a few warnings, I hear – saying to God, “Thou Shalt Not Sleep, never. Not here in Rwanda, not anymore! Find yourself another bedroom.” Because God used to sleep here in Rwanda, you know. Lately, God stays awake at night looking intently at the world map, planning to migrate.
I carry with me Damien’s one shoe. He is barefoot, Damien, my boy, that is why he has to make these random fires when it rains in June – to warm his feet. I rescued this shoe from the mouth of a stray dog which made me run and chase it until I was panting like a hound myself. That was back in ninety-four. I was still a young man in those days. Oh, but that dog was not the end of my troubles. I have aged double while walking these hills and valleys with acacia and guava and mango trees, without even seeing their beauty anymore. The present paper begins by introducing a number of observations on tiie
appiications ot information teciinoiogy (iT) in tiie field of human resource
management (HRM) in gênerai. Tiiis is due to tiie fact that iT and its wide range of
appiications have already made their presence feit in this area. This wiii be
foliowed by a report on the findings of a survey on the present trends in
organizations with in the different sectors in Turkey. Aithough the impact of iT on
IHRM has iong been attracting the interest of academics, no empiricai research has
ever been reaiized in this fieid in Turiiey, and few studies have been reported
eisewhere. The survey was conducted among the 106 iT managers and
professionais from various sectors, based on whose resuits, the data shows that iT
is used extensiveiy in the organizations to perform IHRM functions in Turicey's
dynamic economy. The results aiso indicated that, while IT has an impact on aii
sectors in terms of IHRM to certain extent, the types of iT used vary significantiy
between recruitment, maintenance, and deveiopment tasi(s. However, the empiricai
resuits here reveai that these organizations are not appiying these technoiogies
systematicaiiy and maturely in the performance of HRM functions.

he HRM function in organizations has gained increasing strategic emphasis, and
the importance of its alignment HRM and business strategies is well-acknowl-

Technology and HRM have a broad range of influences upon each other, and HR
professionals should be able to adopt technologies that allow the reengineering of the
HR function, be prepared to support organizational and work-design changes caused
by technology, and be able to support a proper managerial climate for innovative and
knowledge-based organizarions.^ These technological advances are being driven
primarily by strong demands from human resource professionals for enhancement in
speed, effectiveness, and cost containment."*

There are various formats for completing a process recording. The following is an outline that covers the major areas we want included within a process recording. Please utilize the template that follows for completing a process recording with an individual, couple or family client(s).
1. Description/Identifying Information: The social work student’s name, date of the interview and the date of submission to the field instructor should always be included. Identify the client, always remembering to disguise client name to protect confidentiality. Include the number of times this client has been seen (i.e., "Fourth contact with Mrs. S."). On a first contact include name and ages of the client(s) you have written about. If client is seen in location other then the agency say where client was seen.
2. Purpose and Goalfor the Interview. Briefly state the purpose of the interaction and if there are any specific goals to be achieved, the nature of the presenting issues and/or referral.
3. Verbatim Dialogue (in the table below). A word-for-word description of what happened, as well as the student can recall, should be completed. This section does not have to include a full session of dialogue but should include a portion of dialogue. The field instructor and student should discuss what portions should be included in the verbatim dialogue.
4. Assessment of the Patient/Client/Consumer. This requires the student to describe the clients’ verbal and nonverbal reactions throughout the session. Consider everything that is occurring such as body language, facial expression, verbal outburst, etc.
5. The Student's Feelings and Reactions to the Client System and to the Interview (in the table below). This requires the student to put into writing unspoken thoughts and reactions s/he had during the interview e.g. "I was feeling angry at what the client was saying, not sure why I was reacting this way…”. “ I wonder what would happen if I said such-and-such.”
6. Identify Skills and/or Theory/ Conceptual Frameworks used (in the table below). The student should be able to identify what skills they used in an interaction, and/or what theoretical framework came to mind as they dialogued e.g. “I used the strengths perspective “ “I used the skill of partializing”
7. Supervisor/field instructor comments (in the table below) This requires the field instructor to provide review and critique of the student’s dialogue with the client system, skill identification, and interpretation of the client interview.
8. A summary assessment/analysis of the student's impressions. This is a summary of the student's analytical thinking about the entire interview and/or any specific interaction the student is unsure about. Include any client action or non-verbal activity that the student may want to discuss. (See Guided Questions at the end of the template for this section A-M)

Completed Project File Name: [your name]-CentralSierra-02.xlsx Skills Covered in This Project Create, copy, and edit formulas. Name cell ranges. Set mathematical order of operations. Set cell references to be absolute. Use the
- 2. NOW function. Use HLOOKUP and VLOOKUP Use the SUMIF function. Build an IF function. Open the start file CentralSierra-02.xlsx workbook. If the workbook opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button so you can modify it. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the project file name if directed to do so by your instructor, and save it. Select the Tables sheet, select cells A6:B10 , and create range names using the Create from Selection button [ Formulas tab, Defined Names group].
- 3. Select cells B1:F2 and click the Name box. Name the selection H_Rates. Note that the first row is arranged in ascending order. Create an HLOOKUP function to display the bonus rate. Click the Commissions sheet tab and select cell F5 . Start the HLOOKUP function and use cell E5 as the lookup_value . For the table_array argument, use the H_Rates range. Use the second row for the row_index_num argument (Figure 2-100).

Set order of operations to calculate total earnings. Select cell G5 . Build a formula to add the commissions amount (E5) to the commissions amount times the rate (F5*E5). Copy the formula in cell G5 to cells G6:G14 .
- 5. Create and copy a SUMIF function to calculate total earnings by branch office. Select cell E18 . Start the SUMIF function with cells $D$5:$D$14 as the Range argument. Set the Criteria argument as a relative reference to cell C18 . Select cells G5:G14 for the Sum_range argument and make the references absolute. Copy the formula in cell E18 to cells E19:E20 without formatting to preserve borders. Format cells
- 6. E18:E21 as Currency . Total the earnings in cell E21 . Create and format the current date. Select cell G23 and insert the NOW function. Select cell G23 and click the Number group launcher [ Home tab]. On the Number tab, select the Date category. Scroll the Type list to find the date that displays the month spelled out, the date, a comma, and a four-digit year (Figure 2-101).

Start the VLOOKUP function and use cell E6 as the lookup_value . Click the Tables sheet tab for the table_array argument and use cells $A$6:$B$10 . The data is sorted by the first column in ascending order.
- 8. Use the second column as the col_index_num The range_lookup argument is empty. Copy the formula in cell F6 to cells F7:F20 without formatting to preserve the fill color. Format cells F6:F20 as Currency with no decimal places. Create and copy an IF function. Select cell H6 and start an IF Type a logical_argument to determine if cell G6 is greater than or equal to (
- 9. >= ) cell F6 . Type Yes as the Value_if_true argument and No as the Value_if_false argument. Copy the formula in cell H6 to cells H7:H20 without formatting to maintain the fill color. Center align cells H6:H20 . Press Ctrl+Home . Insert a new sheet at the end of the tab names and paste the range names starting in cell A1. AutoFit columns A:B and name the worksheet as Range Names. Save and close the workbook (Figure 2-102). Figure 2-102 Excel 2-4 completed
