1. Contents overview
All the contents pages of Blender magazine have been designed with the intention of
attracting fans of Hip hop/RnB music. Through carrying out an investigation of them and
by comparing them to each other, it is possible to identify shared features within them
and to establish repeated patterns.

2. All three contents pages all features typical conventions, we expect to see general layout
such an image that reveals the what the readers would expect to see, main topics and
the design keeping to the brand identity.
On each contents page there features an artist right in the centre of the page, which
dominates the page and surrounding the image is the articles going to feature in the
magazine. The artist that appears on the contents page is the main headline of that issue
and is put on the front cover and also the contents page.
On every contents page of the magazine there is always an artist in the centre of the
page and is always bigger than the writing. The artist is in the centre while the writing is
on either side of the image, this draws the attention to the image first as it is in the
centre and is also dominating the page. The main focus is on the title ‘contents’ because
it is the first thing you see. This all suggests that Blender wants bigger image then more
writing because the readers don’t like to read too much and like images more, the
readers will not get bored easily and would still want to read on.
We can see similarities in the mise-en-scene elements that are presented on each
contents page. The background as a lot of white space which clearly shows the contrast
between the main image and the background. Also on each contents page there is a
quote from their interview/article which draws attention to something revealing that
they have said it gives the reader a quick peek at they would expect from the article and
then they can read the real article.
Having carried out this overview, it has helped me get the information I need to
construct my own contents page which is successful to the target audience. Blender has
maintained through the repetition of the style and layout features and it helps the
magazine to sell and succeed.
