Technical drawings are used to communicate ideas that may otherwise be difficult to convey through words alone. Pictures and drawings supplement written descriptions to effectively share concepts in engineering and design with collaborators. When creating technical drawings, the type of drawing should consider both the subject being depicted and the intended audience in order to ensure the goals and ideas are understood. Sketches, isometric drawings, and orthographic projections are common types of technical drawings that each have appropriate uses depending on the context.
