How Did The Roman Empire Change Over Time
Throughout the history of the Roman Empire, people of all parts of the society saw many changes. A
few of the changes that they experienced were the changes in how the different emperors ruled, the
dividing of the empire, economic stability and growth, and the expansion of the empire. One of the
greatest changes that the people saw was the change in religion. Due to changes with the empire s
most dominant and profound religion, there was much controversy over the course of many years.
Once the people of the Roman Empire came to accept all of the changes that had occurred over the
many years of its existence, the empire came to persevere more than ever. In your following reading,
you will learn how the Romans came to accept and make Christianity the official religion of the
Roman Empire due to the influences of events and emperors before Constantine the Great came to
power, the influences under the power of Constantine s rule, and the influences of events and

Even with the death of Constantine, who was a major role in making Christianity the major religion of
the Roman Empire, Christianity continued to grow quite rapidly but this wouldn t have happened if it
weren t for the help from Emperor Theodosius 1, who ruled over the Roman Empire from 379 CE to
395 CE. Theodosius was the first emperor to decree an official order issued by a legal authority that
all citizens should be Christians. Theodosius outlaws pagan worship throughout the entire empire,
closed the schools and universities, and converted pagan temples into Christian churches. In him
doing so, Theodosius had devoted so much effort to promoting Christianity that he seems to have
neglected his other duties as emperor and was the last emperor to rule both the Eastern and Western

World War II s Value
World War II s Value Famous philosopher and writer George Santayana once said, Those who cannot
remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Mistakes are among the most important actions we
perform. They are used to help better ourselves whether it be physically or mentally. World War II, a
global war, was the cause of many harmful threats and actions that eventually led to the most deadliest
time in history. We can use this event to show us the problems caused by war and ways we can prevent
it. Educating ourselves about the events and the background behind the war can enable us to learn

Gattaca Genetic Engineering Analysis
The movie s portrayal of scientists makes human manners towards the Na vi look bad because some of
the humans did not care about the Na vi. The military and the big corporation would kill the whole
native species before giving up the supply of unobtanium. They would kill their own men who
betrayed them to get the unobtanium. The scientists were able to genetically engineer modified human
DNA with Na vi alien genetic material to create avatars, which through psionics humans could mind
link with their avatars. In today s world, genetic engineering is a touchy subject. In fact, we are having
a whole Nobel conference over it in 2017, to debate if it is ethically moral to genetically modify
humans. Gattaca was an entire movie based on genetic engineering. Genetically engineering a species
can have many bad points like one specific disease could wipe out the whole human race natural

Tuesdays With Morrie Movie
Tuesdays with Morrie is a movie in which the main character, a college professor, develops
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig s disease and the progression of the disease until
his death. In this essay, I will discuss how I felt after watching this movie, how touch and intimacy can
be beneficial to the older adult s well being. I will also discuss how some adults feel that aging is part
of a spiritual journey and what nurses can do to help facilitate this journey. Lastly I will explain what
Morrie meant when he said, Learn how to die and you learn how to live and Aging is not decay but

Impact Of The Mongols
The Impact of the Mongols
The Mongol Empire had many impacts on modern day Asia and other parts of the world. Genghis
Khan led an empire from the steppes of Asia during the 13th century, called the Mongols. They
conquered a lot of land, from to Korea to Poland, and also from Vietnam to Syria. Because they
terrorized much of Asia, they were known as barbarians. They were thought to live beyond
civilization, and known as evil. The Mongolians of the Asian Steppe had a negative impact on the
world during their rule of the Asian continent from 1206 to 1368 by influencing violence, destruction,
and the falling of cities. Genghis Khan and the Mongols were very violent. According to document 2,
Genghis organized his army in rows of ten, in which one man would be a leader. Over ten groups of
ten, there would be one man in charge of all of them, over that 10 there would be one man in charge.
There would be one man in charge of a thousand, then another in charge of 10 groups of a thousand.
The Mongols used the word tumin to describe this number. Over every army there was two to three
commanders, but in some way one held the overall command. While the Mongols were in battle if
more than one man fled, the whole group of ten would be put to death, which caused a lot of acts of
unnecessary violence. Also, if an entire group of ten fled, if the whole group of one hundred didn t flee
they would all be put to death, even though technically they did nothing wrong. Another rule present

Essay on Turkey s Internal Conflict and the Kurdish Minority
Turkey s Internal Conflict and the Kurdish Minority Turkey s key internal conflict centers on the role
of its large Kurdish minority, ethnically and linguistically distinct, in a state that constitutionally
consists of Turks. This issue has been with Turkey almost since the foundation of the Turkish State in
1923. The Kurds were promised the creation of an independent state as part of the treaty of Sevres in
1920 but this part of the treaty was never ratified and Turkey has refused to recognize the existence of
a separate Kurdish ethnic community within its borders. Even so, Half of Turkey s Kurds have moved
from the south east to the western cities of Turkey and have increasingly become integrated into the
Turkish economy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So when Mustafa Kamal (Ataturk) began to form a Turkish nation state, it was not clear what
constituted a Turk but soon, Kurds were considered as Turks and a policy aiming at the detribalization
and assimilation of the Kurds was adopted... The Turkish government s pursuit of full assimilation has
led to the proscription of publications of any book, newspaper, or other material in the Kurdish
language. Moreover, there has also been an instance of arrests of entertainers for singing songs or
performing in Kurdish. If we look deeply at the government structure, we can see that historically,
Turkey lacks government openness. With the birth of the Turkish republic in 1923, the Turkish
government did not satisfy the demands of the Kurds who were seeking independence. And since it is
more of an authoritarian and closed system, the public opinion did no have any impact on the
government. The non governmental characteristics of the society as a whole also affect or condition

Marx Vs Adam Smith
When we discuss the theory about Marx, we firstly need to differentiate his theory from other
subsequent communism or marxism theorists like Vladimir Lenin, the best approach is to review his
ideology in the aspects of politics and economics. We should not judge with the benefit of the
hindsight, neglecting the era of his times. If we want to understand his ideology about politics,
economics nexus and comprehend what he peddled in the mainstream view, we need to firstly canvass
the economics view, from the most fundamental principle and then follows the politics view. Since
Marx did not formed a systematic philosophy, we emphasis on the framework and interrelationship of
politics and economics. From the publish order of works, it can be speculated that the Marx developed
his economic thoughts before the political thoughts. However, his political thoughts, have a strong
ideology, as mechanism to achieve his political thoughts. It might be not true in the works ... Show

Marx s labor value theory, origins in Adam Smith s the wealth of nations; labor create value in the

same at this point. Their divergences were mainly in the deductive way. Herein, Smith discussed the
distribution of wealth, he began to discuss quantitatively and accurately the relationship between the
various elements in the production process (.Marx, on the other hand, has qualitatively discussed
whether it is reasonable to allocate wealth so as to find surplus value (Marx 1867: The elaboration of

Populism
The trend towards populism is a critical developing trade/policy/transportation issue for global
transportation and supply. Populism increases the importance of domestic considerations as opposed
to a more global approach. In the recent U.S. presidential election, populism became a significant
factor in the minds of the electorate and resulted in the election of a candidate that reflects the views
consistent with this mind set. This sentiment appears to be growing in importance in other democratic
nations as well, signaling a major shift away from an era of general international cooperation.

This could disrupt projected trade volume, which would have a dramatic effect on transportation. In
2015, nearly half (47%) of U.S. goods exports went to the 20 free trade agreement countries. U.S.
merchandise exports to the partner countries totaled $710 billion, according to the International Trade
Administration s website. (Forbes, Dec 7, 2016)
Populism and the new administration could modify the United States position on a number of other
critical issues related to international trade. One such issue is that of the environment, a topic that
demands extensive international cooperation. With the emerging trend toward populism and election
of populist leaders such as President elect Trump, the needs of the individual nation are increasing in
importance relative to that of all countries working together to address critical issues such as carbon
emissions.
The President elect has taken the position that the cost of complying with international environmental
agreements places the United States at a disadvantage. This is enhanced, clearly, when other countries
agree to the concepts of pact, but fail to comply. If these agreements fall apart, as may be the case,
then international trade will again be effected. The move of companies out of the U.S. has been partly
fed by their desire to avoid domestic environmental

Questions and Answers on the Sedar
1. How does the Seder link the present to the past? The Seder links the present to the past by telling
the story of the Exodus, and remembering the struggle they had to go through before regaining the
Holy Land. Freedom is the primary thing of the Seder. The Seder allow Jews to worship God through
prayer, and learning by taking part in the lesson of Jewish history, and religion. The Seder lets one
symbolically relive the Exodus, where past and present merge ( Bokser,2002, p. 147). Jews have
created script in order to tell the story of the Seder by using the Haggadah. It contains questions,
answers, stories, shows, tells, song, and symbol. 2. Explain the symbolic meaning of all the foods used
in the Seder? Every Seder has numerous ritual foods and other items. Each item has its purpose and
often its specific place on the Seder plate. The roasted lamb called zeroah, which symbolizes the
sacrifice made at the night when ancient Hebrews fled Egypt. The baytsah is a symbol of the
sacrificial offerings which was performed in the days of the Second Temple. Maror is the bitter herbs,
which bring tears to the eyes and recall the bitterness of slavery. Charoset represents the mortar used
by the Hebrew slaves to make bricks. Karpas symbolize the freshness of spring. Salt water symbolizes
the tears and sweat of enslavement. Often a single bowl of salt water sits on the table, which each

Tim Hortons though is different, coffee isn t produced in Canada like it is in places such as Brazil.
Which begs the question how did Tim Hortons manage to become a staple of Canadian heritage? Well
the answer lies in how it marketed itself to the regular everyday Canadian. A key part of the Canadian
identity is the that of being hard working and being low key. When you look inside a Tim Hortons you
see exactly that, mostly brown cups, and a brown aesthetic that seems like it is minding its own
business. Unlike a company like Starbucks, Tim Hortons is not plagued by an urban pretentious
because even in their locations in downtown metropolitan areas like Toronto, they keep their low key
and quiet aesthetic (Cronack). Furthermore, Tim Hortons while embracing Canadian values does not
out right announce itself as such. If they did announce themselves as hard working and humble , many
canadians would not embrace it because many would feel that if you refer to yourself as humble you
lose whatever humility that you had. So Tim Hortons decides to keep its mundane and humble
aesthetic by just being there. They are just a coffee shop that is a part of everyday life for Canadians,

Mesopotamian Civilizations
By looking in the past, us humans can learn about how we evolved as a species over time. Two of the
most studied civilizations are the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations. Even though each
civilization arose in different locations and time periods, both river system civilizations are mainly
similar regarding religion, art, writing, and architectural styles; except for a few slight differences that
are unique to each civilization. Both the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations were strongly
reliant on religion, and this led both civilizations to believe in a polytheistic religion system. The
Egyptian and Mesopotamian populations believed in many gods, and associated their gods with the

For example, the Egyptians are most commonly known for their large architectural projects which
required an enormous labor force. Some examples include the Three Pyramids at Giza, where Khufu,
Menkaure, and Khafre were buried, The Great Sphinx, and the Stepped Pyramid at Saqqara. Likewise,
the only Mesopotamian structure that can compare to the size of the pyramids is the ziggurat.
Significance wise, both were built for religious purposes, as the ziggurat is a place of worship and
pyramids were built to immortalize the kings. Both the Egyptians and Mesopotamians developed their
own forms of writing, Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform, respectively. Hieroglyphics is the more complex
of the two, consisting of pictograms, phonograms, and determinatives, and symbols can hold a variety
of meanings depending on the context of what is being written. When looking at art forms, you can
learn many things about societal order and hierarchy. For example, when looking at Egyptian
monolithic statues, you can see clear differences in social status just by structure and build of the
piece. Kings and important officials had their statue carved out of stone materials, like granite, while
lesser figures were carved in wood. Kings often had perfect physique in their sculptures, while scribes
often looked lethargic and naturalistic. More important figures even had a

Milton, on the other hand, is attempting to explore this biblical story in Paradise Lost to prove that
Adam and Eve had free will, thus absolving God of responsibility for the fall. Lanyer and Milton
differ in their portrayal of the fall through their depiction of Adam and Eve s relationship and their
ideas about the free will of each of the characters. These factors ultimately lead Milton to present a
portrait of the fall that seems more balanced and accurate. One of the reasons for which Milton and
Lanyer portray the Fall differently in their texts is because of their views on the relationship between
Adam and Eve. Firstly, although Lanyer does acknowledge that Adam and Eve share a strong bond,
she often represents the relationship of Adam and Eve as a dictatorship, portraying Adam as the
dictator. Because of this unbalanced power structure, which, in Lanyer s eyes, overtly favors Adam
over Eve, Lanyer absolves Eve of responsibility for the Fall and places the blame squarely on Adam
even though Eve offered the fruit to Adam. In portraying this perceived power structure, Lanyer states,
Let not us women glory in men s fall / Who had power given to overrule us all (Lanyer,

Clinical Neuropsychologist Short Term Goals
Based on my self evaluation, my two short term goals are:
1. Self care: Personally, I feel that I have been told by different sources how important it is to practice
self care as a Ph.D. student. However, I feel that I am not following the advice properly. I noticed that
I reached high levels of stress during the year as a first year student. In addition, now that I need to
balance clients, courses, and research, I am worried that I will burn out easily. For that reason, I am
going to engage myself in one or two pleasurable activities a day for two hours. Thus, I will go for a
walk with my partner on weekdays (those days that I come home earlier) and I will go on a hike with
him during weekends. The days that I will spend the entire day at the clinic, I will meet a friend for a
coffee and we will go out to a coffee shop. In addition to these activities, I will utilize the hot tub

Become a Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist: My career goal is to become a clinical
neuropsychologist. For that reason, I am enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology at PAU.
In addition, I will be applying for the Neuropsychology track at the end of this quarter. Throughout
this year and next year, I will be taking the courses related to the neuropsychology track. Hopefully, in
my second and third year I will be doing practicums at the Palo Alto VA and the San Francisco
Institute on Aging. Those practicums sites will provide me with assessment hours as well as allowing
me to be exposed to the populations I want to work with in the future. Moreover, I will be doing my
dissertation in a project related to the neuropsychology field. For that reason, now in my second year, I
will be having meetings with my advisor in order to narrow my dissertation project. Additionally, I am
planning to do my internship in a neuro site. Afterwards, I am planning to do a post doc in the field.
Eventually, I want to go back to Spain and work as a Clinical Neuropsychologist

However, before you give up on wearing contact lenses completely, there are three small changes you
can make to make your lenses feel comfortable again.
Dry Eye Drops
Dry eye drops are available at all pharmacies and you do not need a prescription for these. They are
also known as artificial tears as they provide lubrication to the eye that your body can t currently

My Grab Bag Speech
I have never taken a public speaking course before getting into college, finding myself too stressed to
calm down in the class of CC 100 11. I experienced the most anxious moment before I did my Grab
Bag speech. Though I was so nervous, I finally finished it with all my efforts. In general, I feel that my
Grab Bag speech is good enough for me as the first challenge, despite of the lack of experience in
preparation, missing parts of the outline and the overwhelming anxiety. Therefore, I also give myself
some advice and set an aim to achieve.
Before the delivering of the speech, preparation is crucial given that it gives the speaker a clear clue of
what his should talk about, how he can organize his speech and how he can perform well in front of
specific groups of audiences. Once my topic is decided, according to Joshua, I should further narrow
my topic and find the most three points, which are the magic numbers (136) , by going through the
general speech purpose. In this case, my purpose is to inform or teach about myself, thus I chose
anime , horror movie , and spicy food . I started preparing through this point, yet I failed to consider
more about my organization . In my original speech outline, I simply put these all three things together
without considering any order. As it says that you want to do so in a way that is manageable to you as
a speaker and memorable to a listening audience (Joshua, 135) , speaker should better to create an
organized speech for audience. Considering that I want to emphasize who I am, I should use topical
order which tells different characteristics. By correcting my original speech outline, the spicy food
which tells about my identity should go first, then horror movie goes next, and at last my favorite
anime on which I should strongly emphasize should end the speech.
Additionally, I find out that I should change my use in language for the opening and summary. It s
obvious that often the thesis statement overlaps significantly with the purpose of a speech, but not
always (Joshua, 87). I started my speech thesis by saying So today I am going to show you three
artifacts which are all my favorites and can determine who I am. They are anime, horror movie and
spicy

Sociology and Social Structure
Social structure is the way society is organized into predictable relationships. There are five elements
when you break down social structure. The first being status. We usually associate having a status to
the amount of influence, wealth and fame. But sociologists use the term status to refer to any of the
full range of socially defined positions within a large group or society, from the lowest to the highest.
Examples of this are being a son or daughter, dental technician or the president of the United States.
Sociologists also see some status to be achieved or ascribed and an ascribed status is when a person is
assigned to it by society without regard for the person s unique talents or characteristics. But the
achieved status comes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

material resources of the environment to satisfy human needs and desires. The first type of
preindustrial society is the hunting and gathering society, because they rely on whatever foods and

plant seeds and crops rather then subsist on available foods. People become less nomadic and place
more emphasis on the production of tools and household objects. The last stage in the preindustrial
development is the agrarian society. They primarily engage in the production of food. Technology
seems to grow but is still quite basic. A industrial society is a society that depends on mechanization to
produce its goods and services. THey rely on new inventions that facilitate agricultural and industrial
production, and on new sources of energy, such as steam. The postindustrial society is an economic
system that engages primarily in the processing and control of information. It focused on services
rather than manufactured goods. Large numbers of people become involved in occupations devoted to
the teaching, generation, or dissemination of ideas. Two specific sociologist had there own ideas about
modern societies. Emile Durkheim agreed that social structure depends on the division

Comparing The AFLAnd The Populist Party
there are two classes in society, one incessantly striving to obtain the labor of the other class for as
little as possible, and to obtain the largest amount or number of hours of labor . The United States of
America by the dawn of the 20th century was the home of opportunity and economic prosperity to
people around the world, a place where the average person could with hard work and dedication rise
above his socio economic status. While the united states may have been perceived as the land of
opportunity to foreigner s, people actually living in the united states might have not seen it in that
light. By the late 19th century economic difficulties increased for the working class people of the
united states such as industrial workers and farmers. With politicians constantly failing their

What Is The Theme Of Civilization And Savagery In Lord Of...
Lord of the Flies by William Golding, involves the theme about civilization and savagery, which
occurs throughout the novel. This story starts by when this British airplane crashes in the middle of an
island, and the boys that were in it realized that they had to work together. When the boys first meet,
they have assemblies and they choose a leader which is Ralph, one of the main characters.
Considering they have a leader, the plan after was to try to plant roles for everyone, for example:
getting food, building a shelter, so they could survive, while they were in the island. But they were
also trying to get a ship s attention by making a fire, so they could get rescue. Some of the boys
disagreed to the necessities they were required for this survival. There were also a lot of conflicts,

The Feminist Movement Of Henrik Ibsen s Ibsen
Granted that, Ibsen had disclosed that he was not consciously writing the play to support the feminist
movement, nor did he have any intentions to motivate women to follow Nora s footsteps. He actually
had treated a Scandinavian who had followed Nora s footsteps distastefully, and criticized her because
she took her child when running away, instead of running away by herself (Templeton 35). The reason
for his hypocritical attitude to the woman was to protect himself from the many critics that were
already accusing him of a supporter. He had many women in his life that were mistreated due to the
societal differences, and actually was mentored by Magdalen Thoresen, who was one of the first New
Woman he had met. He eventually married her Magdalen s stepdaughter, Suzannah, and wrote about
her in order to remind people of Suzannah (Templeton 36). Ibsen may have spoken out against being a
supporter, but his motives for such actions were very prevalent in his life. Nevertheless, those two
females were not the most important feminists in his life however. Camilla Collett, one of the most
active feminists in the European countries had. She wrote a novel stating how women s feelings matter
and they have rights as human beings to education and free will of who they are to marry. Publishers
gave her the ultimatum of a masculine name change, or no name at all (Templeton 36). Somehow she
became known as the author and was exiled. Her and Suzannah Ibsen became close friends and

Idioms In English Language
The English language being very flexible constantly enriches its vocabulary with words invented by
language speakers, making it more colourful with new idiomatic expressions, and, at times, refills its
stocks with the borrowings and neologisms. English just amazes by its extraordinary linguistic
diversity.
The focus of this paper is to share consideration on the importance of idioms for non native speakers
as part of their mastery of the English language.
Understanding the lexicon of English demands more than knowing the denotative meaning of words.
It requires its speakers to have connotative word comprehension and more an understanding of
figurative language. Idioms fall into the latter category. Learning idioms is certainly not a piece of
cake (very easy), but once you know them, they can be a lot of fun, and anyway, because English
people use idioms non stop you will be all at sea (totally confused) in most conversations until you
learn the ropes (understand how things work). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the various definitions of idioms are: (1) the language peculiar to a people, country, class,
community or, more rarely, an individual; (2) a construction or expression having a meaning different
from the literal one or not according to the usual patterns of the language /New Webster s Dictionary,
1993/. It is the second definition that best suits the focus of this paper. Professor Kounin defined idiom
as a stable combination of words with a fully or partially figurative meaning /Kounin, 1970/. This
definition emphasizes two inherent and very important features of idiomatic expressions. Idioms have
lexical and grammatical stability. It implies that they are fixed in their form, hence any substitution
and rearrangment in their structure can lead to a complete loss of their primary

South Secession Causes
Secession Essay There are multiple causes for the South s secession from the U.S. Some of theses
causes include: popular sovereignty, need for slavery, and the Election of 1860. One reason for the
secession of the Southern states was the Election of 1860. The reason being that the winner of this
election was Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was not only from the North, but also supported all
the North s ideas. He wanted to end slavery in the west, he supported the free soilers in the North, and
he liked the protective tariffs. The Southern states were enraged at finding the abolitionist won the
election, and actually said something along the lines of They will never be at peace under the
presidency of Abraham Lincoln . This sparking one motivation why the South decided to secede from
the U.S. The second reason for the secession of the Southern states was popular sovereignty. The Utah
and New Mexico territories were given the option of popular sovereignty. Due to the location of their
lands, farming would be more difficult in the North than it would be down in the Southern states. This
made farming, which was the main demand for slaves, not as interesting to the people in the
territories. Because of this, those territories with popular sovereignty were uninterested with slavery
and would choose to be free states, which was not good for the ... Show more content on

Licensing will also be more difficult to obtain, since adult entertainment is involved. These additional
fees as well as the additional talent required will cause Dirty Deeds prices to be higher than traditional
cleaning services. Another weakness is that Tucson s older population may be more conservative than
anticipated which may cause them to reject the service. The last weakness is there may be a staff
shortage during the summer and holiday months when college students are out of town. Not having
employees to clean houses means less productivity and profitability. Among the external opportunities
that Dirty Deeds may enjoy are that this type of service has never been offered in Tucson before. If the
service is widely accepted, the company can be very profitable. Furthermore, Tucson s diverse
population is consistently expanding which offers a growing customer base. Dirty Deeds may also be
able to utilize the new ideas that today s college student have to offer. Applying new concepts to
current cleaning methods will boost Dirty Deeds Inc. reputation as an innovative cleaning company.
Since customer satisfaction is guaranteed, clients will likely refer Dirty Deeds Inc. to their friends
which may also contribute to an increased workflow. Threats exist that Dirty Deeds must convert into
opportunities in order to realize sufficient profit. One such threat is that people may not be willing to

The Use Of Igbo Culture In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
In 1958, Chinua Achebe wrote his first novel, Things Fall Apart. It centers around Okonkwo, a
powerful clan leader man that lives in the village of Igbo people, Umuofia. The story follows him and
the rest of his village as they are colonized by white Christians. Achebe wrote the novel to teach
people about the Igbo culture and break stereotypes made about indigenous Africans. Chinua Achebe
used literary devices such as similes, proverbs, and folktales to help illustrate Igbo culture.
The similes used in Things Fall Apart can give the reader insights into the Igbo culture. Achebe s
similes tend to be nature related. For example, in chapter one, Okonkwo is described as as slippery as

Proverbs are short sayings giving advice or stating facts One proverb, used to teach children about
responsibility, is, As elders said, if a child washed his hands, he could eat with kings. (p7) This is
especially relevant to Okonkwo. His father was very irresponsible and lazy, and was always poor; he
never got to eat with kings. Okonkwo wanted to be the opposite of his father, so he did everything he
could to get a high status. These proverbs are used to communicate important traits and values that are
important to the Igbo people.
As well as similes and proverbs, folktales, stories that are passed down by word of mouth through
generations. are used to show the Igbo culture to readers. OneA folktale Achebe used is about a
quarrel between the Earth and Sun. In this, the Sun withheld rain for years, and the Earth dried up. No
crops could grow and many were dying, so a vulture begs the Sky for rain. The sky pities the vulture
and brings lots of rain. It was used to show men that need to be humble and ask for help.
In Things Fall Apart, Chinua Achebe works to show the readers what the Igbo culture is like to
sharpen the contrast between them and the colonists. To do this, he uses similes, proverbs, and
folktales. These are bases around nature, hunting, and other important aspects of Igbo culture. They
also show the values of the Igbo

Effects Of Youth Sports
Sports is one of the most viewed and attended events in today s society. Today youth sports have
soared in popularity, as more and more children participate in sports at a young age. Youth sports are
intended to bring together young kids and develop friendships, teams, and to overall just have fun. As
parents put their kids into these sports at a very young age, the effects can often be costly. The increase
in popularity of youth sports has caused injuries to skyrocket, children and parents must face different
ethnicities and also fairness towards playing time, and lastly youth sports coaches are not well
educated and therefore often teach the youth the wrong ways of playing the game, which put the kids
at a higher risk of injury. The popularity of youth sports has caused these multiple effects. The
increase in injuries have widely grown throughout youth sports. As youth sports increased in

The Cost Recovery Act And Tobacco Litigation
The United States is believed to be a free country, not monocracy. No one wants the government to
charge them extra for the snacks they decide to eat. People want to make the choice to be healthy on
their own. The choice is up to the individual it is not the governments` choice to make. No matter how
much more the taxes the government puts on junk and fatty food, it will not stop people from eating

elections in 1824, 1828, 1832, 1836, and 1840.
The period between 1816 and 1824 is commonly and wrongly labeled the Era of Good Feelings
because of the single party politics that took place in the United States. The Democratic Republicans,
led by James Monroe, were the only political party at the time. There was far less voter tension
because there was only one party running. However, Martin Van Buren (Document C) was against the
single party politics and argued that having two parties competing against each other would be
beneficial and desirable. He writes to Thomas Ritchie that the revival of old party distinctions would
be highly salutary and beneficial to the country. Van Buren believed that it would unite the Southern
planters with the Republicans of the North. In 1824 however, John Quincy Adams, and Henry Clay
teamed up to defeat the man who had garnered the most votes by any individual. The plan worked and
the two won the presidency. It was dubbed as the Corrupt Bargain because the two had stolen the
presidency from Jackson.

Benefits Of Welfare State
The term welfare state can be defined as a system by which the government have developed a set of
policies designed to assist its people, to ensure they are protected from poverty. The system is
composed of a number of institutions. For example, the UK is a welfare state, formed by institutions
such as the NHS, social services, education, unemployment services, state pension, council housing,
maternity benefits, disability insurance, job training and many more. The NHS provides free national
healthcare, free education is provided in public schools, unemployment benefits are available to those
who are out of work or seeking employment to ensure they are provided for. In addition, tax payers
are entitled to state pensions at retirement age, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that despite all the different ways in which the welfare state is distributed across a variety of
industrialised countries, they all have a common base. That base is A specific mode of exercising
government power and a specific set of conception, institutions, and techniques with which to do so.
(Garland 2016) Garland explains that there are three concepts around the concept of the welfare state
and that these serve as a three part definition. The first concept is Welfare for poor people . This is one
of the most common definitions of the welfare state, as it is effectively welfare for poor people. Often
invoking ideas of laziness, dole queues, teenage single mothers and other negative connotations. The
second concept is Social provision . This is the notion that the welfare state is comprised of
institutions funded by taxes to aid the general public. The NHS as a health organisation, or the Social
Services, the right for tax payers to receive state pension and public education are prime examples of

Essay about approch to genesis
Year 10
Christian Studies
Discuss the extent to which a Christian can take both Genesis 1 3 and science seriously.
A modern day Christian can take Genesis 1 3 and science seriously. What contradicts this is how
science countlessly claims to prove Genesis 1 3 wrong. The degree in which a Christian can take both
Genesis 1 3 and science seriously is disputed by scientific and Christian evidence all over the world
but the genuine point is that science interprets Genesis 1 3 wrong, it interprets it in a mechanistic
manor rather than a literary approach. This is influenced by how science reads Genesis 1 3 in a
Mechanistic approach rather than it to be interpreted literary and another point would be how
intelligent design and theistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I have given Genesis 1 3 as an expression of a poem it should not be read exactly like a
poem, more to be interpreted as a hymn, overture, Hebrew poetry or a historian s metaphoric recount
as The essence of Darwinism2 by Kirsten Birkett suggests. This evidence shows that a literal approach
towards Genesis 1 3 would be a sufficient reason in why science does not have any connection with
Genesis 1 3 through the interpretation. Through this explanation it means that Genesis 1 3 and science
can co exist and a Christian can take both seriously.
In saying this it is also relevant that a Christian can take both Genesis 1 3 and science seriously with
the point of intelligent design and theistic evolution. Intelligent design and theistic evolution is another
view that a Christian can take to believe both science and genesis because what science cannot prove,
intelligent design can be a resolution. Although intelligent design and theistic evolution is ruled out in
today s society frequently solely because of how Genesis 1 3 are contradictory to the modern world
and our experiences and there is no evidence backing up the early chapters of Genesis, but just
because there s no evidence doesn t mean that the concept of theistic evolution can be ruled out. For
example a well known scientific explanation of how the earth and universe was formed is the Big
Bang Theory and it suggests that it was set off by an unknown force. This unknown force is right in

areas. A whale sanctuary in Taranaki will be made by the Green to protect marine animals such as blue
whales and dolphins; the Labour on the other hand will support the development of the Kermadec
Ocean Sanctuary not just to preserve marine life in the area, but also to defend the Treaty rights of the
iwi (Green, 2017 and Labour, 2017). In addition, the Labour is looking into controlling mining
activities, making sure that the said activities are aligned with the laws on public conservation land

of beach clean ups, initiating refunds for drinking containers, and prohibiting the use of plastic bags

The Study of Motivation Essay
Literature Review
Motivation
MacIntyre et al. (2001) define motivation as an attribute of the individual describing the psychological
qualities underlying behavior with respect to a particular task (p. 463). The study of motivation as a
predictor of second language learning performance was initiated by Gardner and his Canadian
colleagues (1972).
According to Gardner and Lambert (1972), there are two kinds of motivation: integrative motivation,
referring to a holistic learning approach toward the speech and culture of the target language group,
and instrumental motivation, referring to language learning for more immediate or practical goals.
Intrinsic and extrinsic are the new classifications of motivation. Intrinsic motivation is the ... Show

Both types are important. A learner might learn an L2 well with an integrative motivation or with an
instrumental one, or indeed with both (Cook, 1991). . The level of identification with bilingual or
trilingual identity is also influenced by the learners attitudes toward the learning situation. These
attitudes refer to the individuals reactions to anything associated with the immediate context (e.g., the
course and the teaching environment) in which the language is taught (Gardner, 1985).All the men
show higher instrumental motivation towards foreign language learning than woman.
Instrumental motivation, also called rational, pragmatic and utilitarian, refers to the individual s desire
to acquire a second language in order to use it for operational purposes, to pass an examination,
acquire a job, or visit a foreign country (ibid). Rahman explains rational language learning as the
learning of a language in order to empower oneself by acquiring the potential to acquire employment
(2002). . It has been pointed out that Gardner s motivation theory includes an educational dimension
and that, the Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB), that he and his colleagues developed contains
several items focusing on the learner s evaluation of the teacher and classroom learning situation.
Gardner and MacIntyre (1991) themselves had noted later that the old characterization of motivation

story misunderstands that the waltz he is in is positive, but in reality, it isn t even close to a positive

Theodore Roetheke uses connotation throughout the poem, My Papa s Waltz to evoke a negative
feeling and make us feel sorry for the boy because of how confused he is by the situation he is in.

Benefits Of A Good Credit Score
Having a good credit score is one of the best matters one can involve themselves in. Good credit can
ensure that one are able to pay for just about anything. From a new car to somebody s first house, it
can make or ruin anyone. Due to the importance of good credit, students frequently take advantage of
their college years as a valuable chance to glimpse into adulthood by beginning their steps toward
increasing that score. Considering the rising costs of tuition and the steep price of textbooks, it is not
uncommon to be incapable of paying for everything immediately. That is where credit comes it.
Credit score is a simple concept. It s a number that represents how often a person pays off debts they
owe from using a credit card. A credit card (different an a debit card), does not take money from its
owner. Instead, the owner is borrowing money it. At the end of the month, people receive bills from
everywhere they owe money. If people can pay them all off, their credit score will rise as a result. On
the other hand, if they fail to pay, that number drops. Once a payment is missed, a person s credit
score will receive a blow that will often be very troublesome to overcome. The higher the credit score
is, the more trustworthy people come across are to salespeople. 800 is a perfect credit score, and what
people strive towards. The college years are a perfect time to establish credit, as it is the first time in
their life where students realize that they will eventually need

Yuma Case Study
In the beginning, Yuma was a just a small town that would continuously be flooding. Yuma wanted to
make something out of the small floodplain town so they decided to try to control the Colorado river
flow. Yuma county thought about what they could do... in 1912, they built a dam to regulate the flow
of water to the Yuma Valley. Many corporations helped with the redirect of the water flow. I m not
sure if the Yuma people realized that with the construction of the dam, their small town would soon be
booming. Yuma wanted to become this area of agricultural greatness, so they came together with other
corporations to achieve this goal of theirs. From that day Yuma has been working and being involved
with the agricultural business. Before Yuma ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dams prevented the transportation of steamboats from going upriver. The dams made the water
levels fluctuate and made the use of steamboat transporting goods unsafe and making it unsafe
because there wasn t enough clearance for the boats to move through without knowing if you were
going to make it through. To turn this around a few positive effects on Yuma County was in 1931 the
California Seven Party Agreement that states that Yuma County would be given water to use for their
crops. The 1931 California Seven Party Agreement states that the Palo Verde Irrigation District, the
Imperial Irrigation District, the Yuma Project and lands in Imperial and Coachella valleys are to be
served by the All American Canal. After the siphon was built and the farms were prospering settlers
came, the area was expanding and so was Yuma. The whole idea was to claim the West by ensuring a
stable water supply to irrigate crops and for towns to grow. Since these deals were being made to
direct water to Yuma, the Yuma Siphon has been distributing water to Yuma County for over one
hundred years! The water that flows through the siphon helps irrigate about 50,000 acres of fertile
farmland in all of the Yuma valley. The siphon was such a great engineering breakthrough, it s still
used today! Nearly 100 years later, water still flows through the underground passageway on its way
to irrigate

Scorecard System Essay
When an organization implements any management control tool, the cost/benefit balance is vital. The
decision to deploy a scorecard system requires the same analysis. The costs of implementing a new
tool are relatively easy to appraise, but often, there s a lack of reliable information about the benefits.
This article explores the extent to which organizations have realized significant benefits from using a
scorecard system. (We use the term quot;scorecard system quot; to include both the scorecard as a
control tool and the process, or technique, of integrating the scorecard system into the overall
performance achievement cycle of the firm.)

A related observation is that employees in the SBG both accepted the scorecard system and used it as
an effective management control tool, whereas there was only minimal acceptance and use in the
NSBG. Often, the benefits of a scorecard system are soft ones, but organizations in our survey also
reported documented benefits such as a reduction in overheads of 25% in three years and
quot;significant improvement in employee satisfaction and the highest sales and profit ever. quot; This
result isn t unexpected: if communicating strategy and aligning employee behaviour with strategy aren
t top priorities of a scorecard system, employees won t see value in using the system.
Compensation links
Employees value what s measured but too often what s measured isn t of value to the organization.
The study reveals a much stronger link between measures appearing on the scorecards and the
compensation and reward system for the SBG than for the NSBG. As one company noted,
quot;Employees throughout the organization have become more aware of business plan goals and
objectives and strive for higher performance quot; due to scorecard implementation. Another company
noted that the system resulted in a significant improvement in employee satisfaction. As almost all
agree, measures motivate one way or another.
While we recommend that you link scorecard measures to compensation and rewards, you should also
exercise care in doing so. Taking a year or

  • 2. How Did The Roman Empire Change Over Time Throughout the history of the Roman Empire, people of all parts of the society saw many changes. A few of the changes that they experienced were the changes in how the different emperors ruled, the dividing of the empire, economic stability and growth, and the expansion of the empire. One of the greatest changes that the people saw was the change in religion. Even with the death of Constantine, who was a major role in making Christianity the major religion of the Roman Empire, Christianity continued to grow quite rapidly but this wouldn t have happened if it weren t for the help from Emperor Theodosius 1, who ruled over the Roman Empire from 379 CE to 395 CE. Theodosius was the first emperor to decree an official order issued by a legal authority that all citizens should be Christians. Theodosius outlaws pagan worship throughout the entire empire, closed the schools and universities, and converted pagan temples into Christian churches. In him doing so, Theodosius had devoted so much effort to promoting Christianity that he seems to have neglected his other duties as emperor and was the last emperor to rule both the Eastern and Western Empires ... The scientists were able to genetically engineer modified human DNA with Na vi alien genetic material to create avatars, which through psionics humans could mind link with their avatars. • 7. Impact Of The Mongols The Impact of the Mongols The Mongol Empire had many impacts on modern day Asia and other parts of the world. Genghis Khan led an empire from the steppes of Asia during the 13th century, called the Mongols. They conquered a lot of land, from to Korea to Poland, and also from Vietnam to Syria. Because they terrorized much of Asia, they were known as barbarians. They were thought to live beyond civilization, and known as evil. The Mongolians of the Asian Steppe had a negative impact on the world during their rule of the Asian continent from 1206 to 1368 by influencing violence, destruction, and the falling of cities. Genghis Khan and the Mongols were very violent. According to document 2, Genghis organized his army in rows of ten, in which one man would be a leader. Over ten groups of ten, there would be one man in charge of all of them, over that 10 there would be one man in charge. There would be one man in charge of a thousand, then another in charge of 10 groups of a thousand. The Mongols used the word tumin to describe this number. Over every army there was two to three commanders, but in some way one held the overall command. While the Mongols were in battle if more than one man fled, the whole group of ten would be put to death, which caused a lot of acts of unnecessary violence. Also, if an entire group of ten fled, if the whole group of one hundred didn t flee they would all be put to death, even though technically they did nothing wrong. Another rule present ... Which begs the question how did Tim Hortons manage to become a staple of Canadian heritage? Well the answer lies in how it marketed itself to the regular everyday Canadian. A key part of the Canadian identity is the that of being hard working and being low key. When you look inside a Tim Hortons you see exactly that, mostly brown cups, and a brown aesthetic that seems like it is minding its own business. Unlike a company like Starbucks, Tim Hortons is not plagued by an urban pretentious because even in their locations in downtown metropolitan areas like Toronto, they keep their low key and quiet aesthetic (Cronack). Furthermore, Tim Hortons while embracing Canadian values does not out right announce itself as such. If they did announce themselves as hard working and humble , many canadians would not embrace it because many would feel that if you refer to yourself as humble you lose whatever humility that you had. Likewise, the only Mesopotamian structure that can compare to the size of the pyramids is the ziggurat. Significance wise, both were built for religious purposes, as the ziggurat is a place of worship and pyramids were built to immortalize the kings. Both the Egyptians and Mesopotamians developed their own forms of writing, Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform, respectively. • 22. Analysis Of Eve s Apology On The Fall Of Humanity Essay Although Aemilia Lanyer and John Milton were both writing on the Fall of humanity, their approaches to this topic were vastly different. Lanyer wrote Eve s Apology in Defense of Women, in order to combat the widely believed cultural idea of the time that placed the fault of the Fall entirely on Eve. Milton, on the other hand, is attempting to explore this biblical story in Paradise Lost to prove that Adam and Eve had free will, thus absolving God of responsibility for the fall. Lanyer and Milton differ in their portrayal of the fall through their depiction of Adam and Eve s relationship and their ideas about the free will of each of the characters. These factors ultimately lead Milton to present a portrait of the fall that seems more balanced and accurate. One of the reasons for which Milton and Lanyer portray the Fall differently in their texts is because of their views on the relationship between Adam and Eve. Firstly, although Lanyer does acknowledge that Adam and Eve share a strong bond, she often represents the relationship of Adam and Eve as a dictatorship, portraying Adam as the dictator. Because of this unbalanced power structure, which, in Lanyer s eyes, overtly favors Adam over Eve, Lanyer absolves Eve of responsibility for the Fall and places the blame squarely on Adam even though Eve offered the fruit to Adam. In portraying this perceived power structure, Lanyer states, Let not us women glory in men s fall / Who had power given to overrule us all (Lanyer, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general, I feel that my Grab Bag speech is good enough for me as the first challenge, despite of the lack of experience in preparation, missing parts of the outline and the overwhelming anxiety. Therefore, I also give myself some advice and set an aim to achieve. Before the delivering of the speech, preparation is crucial given that it gives the speaker a clear clue of what his should talk about, how he can organize his speech and how he can perform well in front of specific groups of audiences. Once my topic is decided, according to Joshua, I should further narrow my topic and find the most three points, which are the magic numbers (136) , by going through the general speech purpose. In this case, my purpose is to inform or teach about myself, thus I chose anime , horror movie , and spicy food . I started preparing through this point, yet I failed to consider more about my organization . In my original speech outline, I simply put these all three things together without considering any order. As it says that you want to do so in a way that is manageable to you as a speaker and memorable to a listening audience (Joshua, 135) , speaker should better to create an organized speech for audience. Considering that I want to emphasize who I am, I should use topical order which tells different characteristics. By correcting my original speech outline, the spicy food which tells about my identity should go first, then horror movie goes next, and at last my favorite anime on which I should strongly emphasize should end the speech. Additionally, I find out that I should change my use in language for the opening and summary. It s obvious that often the thesis statement overlaps significantly with the purpose of a speech, but not always (Joshua, 87). The Feminist Movement Of Henrik Ibsen s Ibsen Granted that, Ibsen had disclosed that he was not consciously writing the play to support the feminist movement, nor did he have any intentions to motivate women to follow Nora s footsteps. He actually had treated a Scandinavian who had followed Nora s footsteps distastefully, and criticized her because she took her child when running away, instead of running away by herself (Templeton 35). The reason for his hypocritical attitude to the woman was to protect himself from the many critics that were already accusing him of a supporter. • 41. The Cost Recovery Act And Tobacco Litigation The United States is believed to be a free country, not monocracy. No one wants the government to charge them extra for the snacks they decide to eat. People want to make the choice to be healthy on their own. The choice is up to the individual it is not the governments` choice to make. No matter how much more the taxes the government puts on junk and fatty food, it will not stop people from eating them. 2. In the academic journal, The Cost Recovery Act and Tobacco Litigation in Canada: A Model for Fast Food Litigation, the states: One of the most well known fast food litigation cases in the United States is Pelman v. McDonald s Corp. In Pelman, two minors sued the fast food restaurant McDonalds claiming, among other things, that McDonalds acted at least negligently in selling food products that are high in cholesterol, fat, salt and sugar when studies show that such foods cause obesity and detrimental health effects. One of the weaknesses of the plaintiffs claims in Pelman is common to food litigation in general. The Pelman court elegantly expressed this issue, asking where the line should be drawn between an individual s own responsibility to take care of herself, and society s responsibility to ensure that others shield her? The court held that if consumers know (or reasonably should know) the potential ill health effects of eating at McDonalds, they cannot blame McDonalds if they, nonetheless, choose to satiate their appetite with a surfeit of supersized ... The passing of the Federalist Party ended the two party system that also included the Democratic Republicans. The Era of Good Feelings was ushered in and campaigns and elections hereon out were changed drastically. Campaigns, running mates, and an increase in suffrage especially transformed the elections in 1824, 1828, 1832, 1836, and 1840. The period between 1816 and 1824 is commonly and wrongly labeled the Era of Good Feelings because of the single party politics that took place in the United States. The Democratic Republicans, led by James Monroe, were the only political party at the time. There was far less voter tension because there was only one party running. However, Martin Van Buren (Document C) was against the single party politics and argued that having two parties competing against each other would be beneficial and desirable. He writes to Thomas Ritchie that the revival of old party distinctions would be highly salutary and beneficial to the country. Van Buren believed that it would unite the Southern planters with the Republicans of the North. In 1824 however, John Quincy Adams, and Henry Clay teamed up to defeat the man who had garnered the most votes by any individual. The plan worked and the two won the presidency. A modern day Christian can take Genesis 1 3 and science seriously. What contradicts this is how science countlessly claims to prove Genesis 1 3 wrong. The degree in which a Christian can take both Genesis 1 3 and science seriously is disputed by scientific and Christian evidence all over the world but the genuine point is that science interprets Genesis 1 3 wrong, it interprets it in a mechanistic manor rather than a literary approach. This is influenced by how science reads Genesis 1 3 in a Mechanistic approach rather than it to be interpreted literary and another point would be how intelligent design and theistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although I have given Genesis 1 3 as an expression of a poem it should not be read exactly like a poem, more to be interpreted as a hymn, overture, Hebrew poetry or a historian s metaphoric recount as The essence of Darwinism2 by Kirsten Birkett suggests. This evidence shows that a literal approach towards Genesis 1 3 would be a sufficient reason in why science does not have any connection with Genesis 1 3 through the interpretation. Through this explanation it means that Genesis 1 3 and science can co exist and a Christian can take both seriously. In saying this it is also relevant that a Christian can take both Genesis 1 3 and science seriously with the point of intelligent design and theistic evolution. Intelligent design and theistic evolution is another view that a Christian can take to believe both science and genesis because what science cannot prove, intelligent design can be a resolution. Although intelligent design and theistic evolution is ruled out in today s society frequently solely because of how Genesis 1 3 are contradictory to the modern world and our experiences and there is no evidence backing up the early chapters of Genesis, but just because there s no evidence doesn t mean that the concept of theistic evolution can be ruled out. These attitudes refer to the individuals reactions to anything associated with the immediate context (e.g., the course and the teaching environment) in which the language is taught (Gardner, 1985).All the men show higher instrumental motivation towards foreign language learning than woman. Instrumental motivation, also called rational, pragmatic and utilitarian, refers to the individual s desire to acquire a second language in order to use it for operational purposes, to pass an examination, acquire a job, or visit a foreign country (ibid). Rahman explains rational language learning as the learning of a language in order to empower oneself by acquiring the potential to acquire employment (2002). .
