Abstract Total Quality Management is a widely used approach for various reasons. In addition to the ISO 9001 certification TQM is considered to be the next step towards the journey of zero defects The race of quality management is initiated by the large scale companies with professional approach and with the available funds and infrastructure to meet with the challenges of present competitive environment. However the SMEs also in order to grab the opportunities prevailing and to increase the life span of their organizations are joining the band wagon of Quality as a strategy. There are several key elements of TQM. The awareness about these different elements of TQM is however a question mark. This research paper is indicating with a survey of a small sample of SMEs about the level of awareness and the importance they feel about the elements of TQM. It was observed that very few SMEs were inclined to go beyond ISO9001. However those SMEs which were following TQM principles were more or less aware about the prompted key elements. Further it was found that there is maximum awareness about the continuous improvement. Process management, House Keeping and Quality chain (Customer – Supplier relationship) are also considered to be important ones for the success of TQM implementation. These were followed by Team working & Synergy, Employee Empowerment, Bench Marking, Creativity & Innovation. Kaizen seems to be the element which SMEs are not much aware about. In the recent era of globalisation and competitive scenario, quality plays a vital role in
ensuring customer satisfaction. Total quality management (TQM) involves the
implementation of appropriate tools/techniques to provide products and services to
customers with best quality. In order to ensure the success of TQM practices in a
modern automotive component manufacturing scenario, barriers and their mutual
interactions need to be systematically analysed to enable practicing managers for
effective deployment. In this context, this study depicts an interpretive structural
modelling (ISM)-based approach to understand the mutual influence of TQM
barriers. A total of 21 barriers have been identified for TQM practices and ISM
model has been developed. The barriers are grouped under four categories
(dependent, independent, autonomous and linkage) based on MICMAC analysis. The
conduct of the study enabled the decision-makers to systematically analyse the
influential barriers for effective deployment of TQM concepts in modern automotive
component manufacturing, which is one of the rapidly growing sectors in the Indian
scenario.

Introduction
During the past decade, manufacturing organisations have been adopting total quality
management (TQM) as a philosophy for bringing about quality improvements. TQM
enables the organisations to attain business excellence. TQM emphasises continuous
improvement as one of the top goals and it enables organisations to achieve business excel-
lence. TQM includes guiding principles and management practices that lead to continuous
improvement in quality and providing quality products to customers. TQM focuses on
management commitment and involvement, customer focus, teamwork, motivation and
employee involvement. In addition, modern automotive manufacturing organisations
have adopted advanced quality tools such as Quality Function Deployment, Failure
Mode and Effect Analysis and Six Sigma. In order to compete in the globalised market,
the organisations must inculcate TQM concepts into all activities of the organisation effec-
tively (Mahapatra & Sekhar, 2004). TQM practices have been widely acknowledged as a
disciplined management process in different sectors such as manufacturing, and service in
order to deal with changes in the marketplace and focus on product and service quality. It

In keeping with the newer demands that have been placed on the self financed educational system by the various
stakeholders, the technical educational system in particular, has been pressured to shift its focus from one in
quantitative expansion to one with emphasis on quality. Growth and survival of these institutes is fully
depending on their competitive working style, opinions of their customers/students about their performance, and
contribution to economic growth. It is being increasingly recognized that high quality of products and services
are associated with customer satisfaction and they are the key points for survival for any organization whether
educational or otherwise. Not oblivious to the need for adaptation to serve the interests of its stakeholders, in
terms of greater responsiveness, the educational system has begun to realize the significance of total quality
management (TQM) in education.

Enhancement of the performance of an industry by the application of tqm conceptseSAT Journals
Abstract Nowadays many companies are unable to prove their performance, because they do not practice the TQM concepts in- total. In order to increase the awareness, certain TQM techniques are suggested to enhance overall performance of the organisations. Here an effort is made to apply two important basic concepts of TQM which are i)continuous improvement of production process by applying newer and innovative methods ii)establishing performance measures for the processes .This paper uses the real experimental results of cartons making industry which comprises the four machines such as Printing , Punching , Gluer and Lamination machines. We get all the machines input and output details, and then made certain suggestions based on the input values of all the four machines. Presently the four machines output values such as Availability, Performance, Quality and Overall Equipment Effectiveness are very low compared with the world class industry. In order to increase them it is suggested to reduce the downtime and other non-productive time by adopting certain simple TQM techniques. The new improved values found to be much higher than the existing values. Keywords: Total Quality Management, Availability, Performance, Quality, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Quality Improvement.

Multicarrier modulation can be implemented by using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) to achieve utmost bandwidth exploitation and soaring alleviation attributes profile besides multipath fading. To support delay sensitive and band bandwidth demanding multimedia applications and internet services, MIMO in addition with other techniques can be used to achieve high capacity and reliability. To obtain high spatial rate by transmitting data on several antennas by using MIMO with OFDM results in reducing error recovery features and the equalization complexities arise by sending data on varying frequency levels. Three parameters frequency OFDM, Spatial (MIMO) and time (STC) can be used to achieve diversity in MIMO-OFDM. This technique is dynamic and well-known for services of wireless broadband access. MIMO if used with OFDM is highly beneficial for each scheme and provides high throughput. There are several space time block codes to exploit MIMO OFDM; one of the techniques is called Alamouti Codes. The paper investigates adaptive Alamouti Codes and their application in IEEE 802.11n.
During data acquisition and transmission of biomedical signals like electrocardiography (ECG), different types of artifacts are embedded in the signal. Since an ECG is a low amplitude signal these artifacts greatly degrade the signal quality and the signal becomes noisy. The sources of artifacts are power line interference (PLI), high frequency interference electromyography (EMG) and base line wanders (BLW). Different digital filters are used in order to reduce these artifacts. ECG signal is a non-stationary signal, it is difficult to find fixed filters for the removal of interference from the ECG signal. In order to overcome these problems adaptive filters are used as they are well suited for the non-stationary environment. In this paper a new algorithm “Modified Normalized Least Mean Square” has been proposed. A comparison is made among the new algorithm and the existing algorithms like LMS, NLMS, Sign data LMS and Log LMS in terms of SNR, convergence rate and time complexity. It has been observed that the performance of new algorithm is superior to the existing ones in terms of SNR and convergence rate however it is more complex than the other algorithms. Results of simulations in MATLAB are presented and a critical analysis is made on the basis of convergence rate, signal to noise ratio (SNR), and computational time among the filtering techniques.

GenBank is the NIH genetic sequence database, an annotated collection of all publicly available DNA sequences. It comprises the DNA DataBank of Japan (DDBJ), the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), and GenBank at NCB[3].The information retrieved in a genbank file is complex and requires condsiderable time for analyzing the data. In this work we wish to convert the data present in Genbank file into a more readable, graphical format by developing a computational tool RASA-GD, using Perl code, Perl module and php. The tool accept file in genbank format and will extract information such as coding region, exon, intron, gene, mRNA,tRNA, and other data contained in gene bank file and also calculate the length of these elements and will generate a graphical output of length and statistical values such as mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance, sample range, minimum value, maximum value, unique gene number. This tool will be very useful for various kinds of analysis to both molecular biologists and computational biologists and will help in hypothesis generation. We have used ourtool for visualizing variation of foxp2 gene from various species such as in human, monkey, gorilla, house mouse, gallusgallus. This gene is responsible for speech behavior. In order to explore whether there is an evolutionary significance of the length of various genetic elements of this gene, The data generated has provided useful insight into the evolutionary history of this gene.
