Description: Our teaching staff asks support for types of “Self and Peer Assessment” which are not possible with the S&PA tool incorporated in Bb Learn.
Our Blackboard Support Team tries to support the desired types of S&PA by creative combinations solely of Bb Learn Course Tools, without using external tools (except Excel). In this session we will show how we realize this for different types of S&PA: “Groups reviewing assignments of other groups”, “Students assessing their peers and themselves within a group”, “Peer Reviewing using a rubric”, and "Anonymous Peer Feedback for oral presentations"

Brightspace Teaching & Learning Community Webinar: The Poetry of Teaching and Technology: Lake Superior College's Program for Online Excellence in Teaching (POET)
Presenters: Amy Jo Swing, Jody Ondich, and Hanna Erpestad; all of Lake Superior College. November 17, 2015
In September 2010, the University of Montreal decided that the institutional platform would be Moodle 2.0. In January 2011, around 15 courses with groups of 20 to 60 students are given and a course site is automatically created for each teacher in charge of a section during the session. This represents more than 2000 course sites. The idea is to give the opportunity to all the teachers who wish it to explore Moodle 2.0, to learn and to begin creating their first courses. This big scale opening’s intention is to generate enthusiasm among users and a strong adhesion of the teaching community. During this conference we will present what we have put in place to achieve this challenge, the resources produced, the discoveries made, the problems met and the observations done.

Presenter: Brian Irwin
Organisation: Sheffield Hallam University
Description: In 2013 Sheffield Hallam University approved a set of minimum expectations which outlined what should be on each Blackboard course. In preparation for these expectations becoming policy in 2015, we hired graduate interns to review every taught module (over 3000) and create reports about how well they meet the expectations.
During this session we will explain how the minimum expectations were developed. We will describe the review process, highlighting challenges faced and providing recommendations for others. We will share some high level findings of the reviews and example anonymised reports at different levels (e.g module, departmental, faculty). Finally we will explain how we are using the reviews to inform staff development and the feedback we have gotten on the reviews so far.
TLC2016 - A showcase of using BB LEARN in large coursesBlackboardEMEA
Presenter: Robert Rozier
Organisation: Hanze University Groningen
Description: At the School of Communication Media and IT eduction is structured in integrated domains.
Web programming is one of these domains. Students have to attend a number of different courses. Courses are subdivided into lectures and practicals, demand that online instructional videos are to be viewed and have formative tests at regular intervals. The ramifications are that heavy burden is placed on the LMS since it has to both incorporate all the different courses, projects, assignments, and has to allow for attendance registration. The number of users and of roles is high. We will present a show case of how to structure a course in BB thus reducing this complexity especially for instructors.

Current CSU LMS Activities: Campus and Systemwide StrategiesJohn Whitmer, Ed.D.
In this webinar from April 2010, Dr. David Levin from CSU Northridge and Dr. Linda Scott from CSU San Marcos spoke about their campus migrations from Blackboard to Moodle. They discussed the decision-making process on their campus, their timeline, course migrations, implementations, training and support resources, and lessons learned.
Kathy Fernandes and John Whitmer spoke about the Chancellor’s Office Initiative to provide systemwide LMS Services. These services began with the LMS RFP and CSU Sandboxes, and were expanded to provide an LMS “safety net” and a “superset” of LMS services that include systems, integrations, migrations, support services, and educational practices.
Participants will learn about these current efforts and plans for the implementation of the LMS recommendations approved by the CSU Academic Technology Steering Committee in December 2009.

Moodle: using an open learning management system to support student learningKeith Landa
2010 SUNY Freedonia Teaching and Learning conference - "Universal Design for Learning: Accessible and Assistive Technologies to Enhance Student Learning"
Session description: Over the past 18 months, Purchase College has migrated from Blackboard to Moodle for our campus learning management system. Our decision was partially driven by the lower total costs for Moodle as an open source product and our desire to avoid the risks and lack of control associated with commercial applications. Our primary consideration however was that Moodle provides a pedagogically stronger learning platform, and its openness allows us to integrate it with other learning applications that faculty would like to use to promote student engagement.
This session will focus on the pedagogical aspects of Moodle as a learning platform. We will briefly discuss the process and findings Purchase College used to develop a consensus among faculty, students and technology staff to switch to Moodle. Participants will then spend the bulk of the session in a directed exploration of the diverse learning activities in Moodle that promote student engagement and learning, to facilitate discussion of how Moodle compares to ANGEL and Blackboard. We will examine examples of how Moodle’s open architecture allows it to integrate with external Web 2.0 applications, and finally discuss options for no-cost hosted Moodle solutions that will allow participants to evaluate Moodle for their campuses.
Presentation on NJIT's pilot program using Moodle as a learning management system. Given in cooperation with NJEDge.Net for other NJ schools. Not somewhat, "historical" since it was presented in August 2007 (THis is a revised version from an earlier presentation also available here.)

On-line).
