This document discusses the impact of stress on productivity. It defines stress as the body's reaction to changes that require physical, mental, or emotional adjustment. There are two types of stress: eustress which is healthy stress, and distress which is severe stress. Sources of stress include work overload, boring jobs, lack of autonomy, and unrealistic objectives. Stress can have positive effects like improved performance during surgery, but also negative physiological effects like headaches and high blood pressure. Surveys have found the major causes of occupational stress are high workload, repetitive work, and difficult coworkers. Moderate stress was found with no significant impact on job performance. Managing stress includes better time management, exercise, relaxation, and developing coping skills.
