2. o An empirical study planned to study the impact of Social
media in learning and teaching processes during COVID-19
and its expected impact on post COVID-19
o This study will be exclusively focus on teaching chemistry
using the help of social media at secondary level
ABSTRACT
3. • Classroom learning involves face to face interaction among
students and it provides a refreshing and educative
atmosphere.
• And as we approach a new academic year, many students –
both existing and new – may be wondering, “Which class
structure is best for me?”
• Efforts to address this concern pushed F2F classroom
education to online education delivery
INTRODUCTION
4. TRADITIONAL MODEL
It provide a chance to actively engage in the process of
learning
Methodology to teach them concepts
It help the students to relate the subject to their own
experiences
Classroom often really helps to bring the subject
‘ALIVE’
5. SOCIAL MEDIA MODEL
• Education Begins At Home!!
• A direct pipeline to the teacher – Email,
whatsapp and other social apps
• Student’s opportunity to learn is enhanced
6. NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION
It’s time to think OUT OF THE BOX
Limited source of learning for certain concept like videos,
presentations and flipped classrooms
In Chemistry, students could able to understand and
visualize certain concepts using ICT (ore refining,
preparation of some compounds, recrystallization and its
application)
7. CHALLENGE THE CHALLENGES
The immediate implementation of digital pedagogy to overcome
the effect of the current COVID-19 pandemic on education by our
country, many difficulties were faced.
Use of technology for teaching and learning remains a challenge
due to factors such as
Unreliable access to software, a lack of high-speed internet,
Unreliable power supply, financial constraints
A lack of continued educator training in online education
course design
8. CHALLENGE THE CHALLENGES
The main challenge for the students was maintaining the same levels
of discipline and writing the exam honestly being at home.
Various challenges students faced in each
institution during the COVID-19 - Source

9. CHALLENGE THE CHALLENGES
The main challenge for the students was maintaining the same
levels of discipline and writing the exam honestly being at home.
Teaching chemistry for higher secondary students, they have to
understand the mechanisms, naming and drawing the structure of
compounds
Student’s opportunity to learn is enhanced but at the same time for
slow bloomers in the classes are finding difficulty to follow the
online classes.
10. PARENTS EXPECTATIONS
Mentally they feel low- Work from home and managing family
Financial constraints – Paying fees, Spending for Gadgets
11. CONCLUSION
• As Educators - Role in student engagement and learning and
preparing tomorrow’s citizens through motivating, aiding, and
supporting our students to think critically and inculcate the habit of
lifelong learning.
• To constantly sharpen their skills in information communication
technologies (ICT), especially during times of crises such as the COVID-
19 pandemic.
• It is important for the institutions to adopt the blended learning
approach where they can include the traditional learning along with the
online mode of teaching.
