Similarities Between A Crab Spider And An Elephant
A generalist and a specialist, they may seem like complete opposites but are they? A generalist
can survive in a myriad of conditions oppose to a specialist, they can only thrive when certain
requirements are reached. Although a generalist appears to be entirely different from a specialist
they still both have similarities. This can be shown by the comparison of a Crab Spider and an
Elephant. A Crab Spider and an Elephant have a lot of sharp distinctions between each other but
they also have many similarities. One instant where this is the manifestation is how their behaviour
is in the presence of humans. Both an Elephant and a Crab Spider will not attack an individual
unless they provoke the species. Another

Ben Mezrich s Bringing Down The House
Micky Rosa
In Ben Mezrich s book, Bringing Down the House, one of the major characters, Micky Rosa
comes into the story and is described as an inspiring, intelligent man. His role in this book stood
out to me as being one of the most important and exciting characters. Micky is a small, forty year
old man, who started the blackjack team at MIT. His presence automatically contributes to the
successes of all members of the blackjack team. He has character traits that positively influence
each and every player. Micky Rosa is seen as a positive, inspiring figure toward the blackjack team
because of his intelligence, persistence, and passion. However Micky was kicked off the team and
still carried on his legacy of inspiring card counters.

He therefore went on the teach at MIT to students that wanted to learn about card counting. He
started to fund this team and he was able to make money even though he never stepped foot in the
casino. The team was prosperous and profitable for quite a while, but one day decided that Micky
was no longer contributing. The members of this team kicked him off shortly after, when they
believed he wasn t providing any more benefit to the team. They thought he was taking away profit
from them without helping them out.
Micky s passion towards the game of blackjack is crazy. It shows when he is kicked off of the
team and then still continued to have a blackjack team of his own. He found new players and
taught a new set of inexperienced players. He didn t want to give up the game. His respect for
this team also was revealed when the team told him the news. He took the news fairly well and
listened carefully to what Fisher and Martinez had to say. He didn t yell or get mad at them for the
decision they had made, he just respected their decision and went along with his

Motifs
Motifs are essential to any work of literature as they help establish an overarching theme. Arthur
Miller s play All My Sons contains various motifs concealed within the story of a businessman
who made a mistake that costed the lives of 21 pilots. The author includes the motif of
intelligence throughout the play to prove that some people know more than they let on. Though
Ann seems like a kind hearted innocent young woman she is capable of scheming in order to get
what she wants. When she is first introduced the stage directions read (...) gentle but despite
herself capable of holding fast to what she knows (23). Though she appears to be charming on the

Ann s acquisition is Chris, she will use whatever she can whether it be plotting or enticement to
get him. Her reason for visiting the Keller household after several years is questioned by Kate
when she says Nobody comes seven hundred miles just to see (21). Though both Chris and Ann
make it out to seem they just want to see each other again on friendly terms Chris invited her
over with the intention of proposing to her. Ann is aware of this and wishes for Chris to propose
to her as well because she loves him. This is evident as she goes a long distance to see him,
during a time where it is *complicated and expensive to travel. In her first appearance to the
reader Ann is wearing an expensive dress No kidding, now, isn t she the prettiest gal you ever
saw? (24). Miller limns the dress as stunning and extravagant, this is quite reminiscent of a
description of a wedding dress. The dress is a symbol for marriage and allurement as Ann wore it
with the intention of gaining Chris s attention in hopes he will ask her to marry him. When Jim is
introduced to Ann for the first time he says She looks very intelligent! (24). Though he is implying
that she is

Ele Wiesel Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech
January 30, 1933 forever marks the beginning of the Holocaust, one of the most horrifying and
cruel events in the history of the world. It was the mass genocide of millions of innocent jews, gays,
Jehovah Witnesses, gypsies, and countless others. After the Holocaust, it is clear to society that we,
as people, cannot stand by and watch as other human beings suffer from cruel acts in which they
have no ability to defend themselves. In modern day, it seems as though ethnic cleansing is
becoming less common, however, there are still many instances of it occurring around the world. In
fact, the country of Myanmar is currently attempting to deprive its Rohingya citizens of their basic
rights and exterminate them from the population.
There were many things to be learned from the Holocaust, one of the most important including
apathy toward discrimination and ethnic cleansing. In Elie Wiesel s Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance
Speech about his experienced imprisonment in concentration camps, he explained that people must
always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the
tormentor, never the tormented . According to Wiesel, someone who stands by and does nothing
while another person suffers is just as guilty as the offender. Additionally, he states in his speech
The Perils of Indifference that, Indifference reduces the other to an abstraction . A lack of
compassion toward the victims of cruel treatment shows that they are of no concern. Prisoners

Deviance In Psychology
Entry 7
Drugs were not acceptable for cool girls. Drugs however, were acceptable and even encouraged for
boys. I know one female who smoked pot, all the other cool females ostracized her, called her a
druggie . I know one guy who refused to try pot, and the cool guys called him a wuss (that means
wimp), and didn t ask him out to party anymore (pg 145).
The limit of what is socially acceptable for each gender to participate in seems to not exist for
males, however for females, reaching this point does not require much deviance. Deviance is
defined as any violation of norms. It is clear that the use of drugs is very gender specific, and if

This is the feeling of disorientation upon venturing into a very different and unknown culture.
The difference between locations is referred to as cultural variation. This term relates to
behaviors such as ethnocentric attitudes, xenocentrism, and cultural relativism among others.
The sight of the seemingly countless designer possessions most peers owned in the same state
where she resides showed how drastically different two cultures can be within a distance of a
few miles. Her shock was the product of being exposed to two opposing cultures in a state she
previously believed was culturally very similar throughout. As a toddler, I made a similar move
from the city of Chicago to Deerfield, and while I have no memory of the cultural transition,
upon inquiring my parents, the differences were vaguely similar to the specific one s the girl in
the passage noticed. Reasoning for as to why the girl felt more poor within the suburbs as
compared to the city can be explained by relative poverty. This means what is considered to be
the poverty line or poor in one area may differ from the poverty line within another area.
Essentially, the area one lives is is generally relative to resources accessible to them, which is
relative to their social class/stratification. While the family of the girl may have been a middle or
upper middle class family within the city, her social class significantly dropped once

The Relationship Between Aaron Burr And Alexander Hamilton
Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton had quite a difficult relationship. There were many instances
where the two were greatly opposing each other. Due to these instances and others in which Burr
had felt completely insulted by Hamilton, Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel in Weehawken, New
Jersey. At the Duel, Burr shot Hamilton in the stomach. Hamilton died the next day. Burr was never
charged for the murder of Hamilton, but some still consider Burr completely unjust in his actions of
challenging and killing Hamilton.
A man challenging another to a duel was not an uncommon event in Colonial America from the
17th to the 19th century. Duels were only legal in certain areas and they had a strict set of rules
outlined by the Code Duello of 1777. In a duel, the men would meet along with their
representatives, or seconds, to decide on a weapon, which could include either a sword or a gun.
Then, the group decided on the distance of where they began. The man who was challenged was
allowed to fire his weapon at the other first, and then the man who initiated the duel was allowed to
fire. Most often the intention of a duel was not to kill a man, but to restore dignity after an insult;
therefore, the participants often purposely missed. One of the most famous of these duels was the
one between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton. Alexander Hamilton was born in Nevis, an
island in the West Indies. After becoming an orphan, his ability to write was recognized by

Women Entrepreneurs And Social Incubators
CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW
In this chapter literature on women entrepreneurs and social incubators is discussed. It also
explains the conceptual framework and conceptual map of the study..
2.1 Concept of Women Entrepreneur
Women or a group of women who initiate, organize and operates a business enterprise is defined as
Women Entrepreneurs . The Government of India has defined women entrepreneurs as an
enterprise owned and controlled by women having a minimum financial interest of 51 per cent of
the capital and giving at least 51 per cent of the employment generated in the enterprise to women.
Women Entrepreneur is a person who accepts challenging role to meet her personal needs and
become economically independent (Meenu Goyal and Jai Prakash, 2011, pp. [Gibve the page
number.]). In India, these entrepreneurs are part of the larger sustainable development strategy
employed by the policymakers. Evidence shows that Women entrepreneurship has already
contributed to the economic growth across the world and women led enterprises are increasing in
every country. These enterprises also created a large number of job opportunities in their respective
economies. Apart from this, these enterprises also created new business solutions for the pressing
social problems.Further in whole enterprises scenario, number of enterprises owned by women is
very less compared to men. Government of India has implemented various schemes for
development of such enterprises but impact is yet to be

Informative Speech On The Holocaust
Many people are aware of the fact that The Holocaust misplaced and murdered millions of Jews,
Disabled , homosexual ,and Polish people. However, what a saddening amount of people are
unaware of is how the Germans (Nazis) subjugated millions of these victims to disturbing
experiments, grizzly deaths, and consistent mental and physical torture. Today, I hope to enlighten
you with the knowledge of the atrocities that were allowed to occur at Auschwitz (Oswiecim,
Poland) and many other Concentration Camps in hopes that we learn from our mistakes, and
something of this nature never happens again. But what exactly was Auschwitz for and what
exactly did the Schutzstaffel (SS) do to the prisoners? To begin with, the Prisoners would be taken

Schutzstaffel also allowed disease to run rampant within the cell blocks, doing nothing about it
except murdering those who seemed too sick to get any work done. It is also important to know

Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Are men always supposed to be represented as superior and tough? The novel, Things Fall Apart is
about the tragic fall of the Ibo culture and main character Okonkwo. Reason why things fall apart is
due to the men within the Ibo culture converting to a new religion. Chinua Achebe shows that men
in the Ibo culture are expected to be superior, successful, and strong. Okonkwo is one man who
embodies all the traits of a successful man. Achebe also shows how unsuccessful men of the Ibo
culture led to things falling apart. The novel shows this with multiple events that happened in the
the book for example when Okonkwo the main character becomes successful by beating Amalinze
the Cat in a wrestling match and much more. In the novel men are represented... Show more content

Frms take a lot of hard labor in order to keep it stable. For example, Okonkwo has two farms and
in order to keep a farm in good shape, multiple tasks have to be done. The numerous tasks are:
feeding livestock, harvesting yams, and cleaning. Another example is when Agbala is telling
Unoka, When your neighbors go out with their axe to cut down virgin forests. They cross seven
rivers to make their farms (17). Agbala tells Unoka this because Unoka is an example of a
unsuccessful man. Unoka has a farm but the farm is so bad it doesn t even require hard
labor.Agbala mentions other hard working men so Unoka can probably motivated. The hard
labor men do represents them as being hard workers. Thus why men are represented as hard
workers. How men are represented as successful is due to their fame, titles, and amount of farms
they have. For example, Okonkwo has attained all these three attributes to be shown as successful.
What really makes men in the Ibo culture successful is titles. Titles are everything in the Ibo
culture. If a man does not own a single title then the man is worthless. For example, when
Okonkwo, Had won fame as the greatest wrestler in the nine villages (8). Due to Okonkwo s fame,
he was being shown

India Case Study Report
1. Visits: There should be more visits and lecture tours by leading Indian and Australian jurists to
each other s country. The Australia India Council has begun this process. It has arranged for me
to return to India in January 1997 to give lectures in New Delhi, Bombay and Bangalore. Through
the good offices of my friend, and colleague in the International Commission of Jurists, Mr Fali
Nariman, the Bar Association of India has invited me to deliver a lecture in its annual series. The
Australian legal profession should reciprocate. It is hoped that the Chief Justice of India, or a
Justice of the Supreme Court of India, will, later in 1997, give return lectures in Australia. Legal

Only when the judges become aware of the jurisprudence of another country will questions be
asked of the profession that will send them searching for relevant analogies and precedents.
Subscriptions to legal periodicals are expensive. Complete collections are extremely costly. Yet a
few well planted contemporary copies of the general Australian legal review, surveying the scene (as
the Australian Law Journal does) could bear fruit. It might produce reciprocation. Both India and
Australia still look to England for legal material. Yet, in all truth, the constitutional arrangements of
Australia are much closer to those of India than are those of England. 4. Judicial training:
Consideration might be given to funding the participation of a newly appointed Indian judge or
judges in the orientations and training courses given for Australian judges. Judicial officers from
New Zealand and Papua New Guinea take part in these courses. It could be mutually beneficial to
have participation by new Indian judges. It would help stimulate the thinking of all. It would also
create friendships which would endure and expand. 5. Professional reciprocity: As India s economic
advancement continues, its importance in the global and regional economies will become more
obvious. Similarly, many Australian businesses are now looking for opportunities in the region.

A Narrative Essay About My Mentor
It was July 30, 1985. I had butterflies in my stomach! Today was the day I d debut with my
husband, Randy Savage as his manager. I could hear Randy s voice he was talking to the manager
s, his voice was deep plus they gave him a microphone, not that he needs one. I think he was talking
to Mr.Fuji now, he was thanking them for their help. That was my cue.
Thank you all but my manager is... , Randy yelled. I walked through the door and caught the
attention of every fan in the arena. I was walking gracefully in my heels, which was harder than I
make it look. As I came closer to the ring Randy held the ropes down like a gentleman, I stepped

Shut it Owen , Bret hissed. As I went back to chilling with Bret, the door opened, but nobody

Randy? , I said but quickly remembered the whole acting thing. I slapped him across the face

What was that for? , Randy yelled and held his cheek

sportswomen were the main focus of only 9% of articles in a recent sur vey of 80 newspapers in

The Narrow Road To The Deep North And The Railway Man...
From the contexts of the Narrow Road to the Deep North and The Railway Man as both were set
in the same era, many of the same issues arise around the subject of post traumatic stress disorder
and grief. Through the war, and the hardships soldiers faced, it was hard to return home, with the
unknown expectation of isolation and seclusion, particularly in thoughts and feelings. As friends
and families who stayed at home and did not experience the war, empathy was often difficult, and
opinions and experiences from the war were not often talked about. Through this, guilt and post war

the war, and traumatic experiences, Dorrigo is largely incapable to conjure feelings of love. This
leads him to not feel happy or comfortable in his long standing relationship with his fiancГ© Ella.
Although Ella is all Dorrigo every wanted in a woman, correct and loving, his broken past brings
him to infidelity. He has multiple flings with women, hoping to seek the love he has lost from
during the war. He eventually finds a kind of love in Amy Mulvaney, his uncles younger wife.
Dorrigo wasn t looking for love, the love he acquired with Amy found him. Although he loved
Amy, she was also a comping mechanism for Dorrigo, to cope with the trauma of the war. When he
was with her, all his worries about the war went away, and he only though about her, nothing but

His life in the war, made him feel like life was no longer worth living, but Amy made his life have

The Culture Of The Word Culture
There are many laity use of the word culture that gets thrown around in day to day conversation
amongst our peers. Culture is used to define certain aspects of our lives and how we live on a
daily basis. There are some that believe that they do not possess a culture. There are others who
feel that we all live our own individual unique culturein our lives. However, being that culture is
such a broad subject, the only way to define it is to operationalize its context and attempt to try
and understand it based on a universal definition. Sergiovanni and Corbally s (1986) definition of
culture includes a system of values, symbols, and shared meanings in a group that includes
embodying these values, symbols, and shared meanings in ritualize practice. Using this particular
definition of culture, the small island of Okinawa is enriched with it. Their way of day to day
lifestyle, geographical terrain, as well as their militaryhistory can all be analyzed through their
culture as well as provide information in terms of our current military jargon for the benefit of the
United States Army.
Culturally, Okinawans separate themselves from the association of the Japanese culture, even
though they are still considered a territory of Japan. The differences in their landscape, their way of
life, language, and even their societal infrastructure are the basis of their adamant separation from
Japan. Its geographical complexities are also what make Okinawa unique from its neighboring

One Of The Most Significant Characteristics Of Tantra
One of the most significant characteristics of TANTRA (origin 5th century CE) is the fact that it
does not require the ordinary householder to renounce the world by giving up our body, our
family, our material possessions, our job, even our pleasures. Instead it accentuates personal
experimentation and experience as a way to improve/advance on the path of Self realization
without having to become a monk or swami. TANTRA breaks new yogabecause it was/is available
for everyone without any type of discrimination. TANTRA rejected the classical patriarchal cast
system and exclusive Brahmanic orthodoxy in which only men and higher cast where suitable for
the practice. TANTRA is all inclusive. TANTRA does not exclude social classes, gender,

It is through this precious human life and birth that we can free ourselves from ignorance and see
how things really exist. From Sanskrit: TAN = To expand, TRA= tool, instrument. TANTRA can
be seen as a technology or tool for expansion of consciousness and alertness. TANTRA does not
reject our objects of attachment or life conditions, but transforms how we relate to them. This is
what makes this practice so compelling today. For example, our inner attitude towards money
doesn t have anything to do with the money we have. Under TANTRA s view, there is nothing
wrong about having money or enjoying life, or being tall/short, or fat/thin, or being married
/single, or being employed/unemployed.., but whatever the circumstances, the attitude should be
of detachment and equanimity, then a sense of freedom arises. So the world and our conditions
become an ally instead of a hindrance in our spiritual development. In TANTRA there are two
realities; SHIVA and SHAKTI, SHIVA representing the total matter or the absolute and SHAKTI
representing the total energy or creative power. In TANTRA all reality can be divided on what we
can see (visvamaya) and what is beyond (visvottirna). To experience the ultimate reality we need to
dissolve the notion of duality in our consciousness. We need to become one from two.

Going Through Changes Analysis
Music has been an important part of my life. Music has been my best friend in ups and downs of
my life and to get me where I am currently in life. Music has helped me control my anger issues.
One song, which has helped me stabilize is Marshall Mather s aka Eminem s Going through
changes which was released in June 2010. That song is important to me, because I would listen to
that song whether I would be angry or content.
Back in the day, when I was in elementary school, I would see myself as little chubby rage
monster. I did not like that a teacher or my parents would force me do things that I did not want to
do. I would get upset and sometimes I would be the monster trying to throw things at my parents

though he was bad at it. Ellison writes that, And I d draw in my breath and do Miss Cox great

To conclude, the song Going through changes by Marshall Mathers aka Eminem has helped me
steer my life into right directions. It has helped me control my temper, which has led to more
common life which involves less throwing or breaking items in my house. Just as music has
helped me immensely, it has also helped Ralph Ellison fin his love for music again, which he lost

life just as I did. Music can help people in many ways which they might not even know

50 Years With Bigfoot Essay
Convinced that the Bigfoot was extremely intelligent by the third year of the research, I was

possibility that the Bigfoot had a complete mastery of more than one language, along with a unique

My Future As A Military Officer And My Current Life At The...
This particular lesson I felt was extremely applicable to both my future as a military officer and
my current life at the academy. This reading focuses on conflict among members in an
organization. The reading describes common issues that lead to unhealthy conflict and how to
avoid those issues. Conflict is seen as a good thing in organizations as it creates a more complete
understanding of the choices, it creates a better range or options, and ultimately allows for effective
decisions making. However, it needs to be effectively managed to have a successful organization.
Conflictcan sometimes turn unproductive, as comments can be interpreted as personal attacks.
The reading offers six tactics for managing interpersonal conflict. Of these six, I see the idea of
focus on the facts as the most important. This tactic states that the more information that one can
provide to a situation, the less likely conflicting viewpoints will be seen as personal attacks. This
is especially true when data is objective and up to date, as numbers do not lie and they are hard to
argue. I see this often at the academy when discussing possible changes in policy. Especially in
situations that involve many cadets. Often, discussions are very opinion based with little factual
information because cadets often do not have access to it. Because of this, these discussions often
become a pointless debate. I could make the assumption that this happens in an operational Air
Force setting as well. In

Kaufmanns Falling Water

Can you say, Wright challenged his apprentices, when your building is complete, that the landscape
is more beautiful than it was before? Perched above a mountain cataract on a rocky hillside deep in
the rugged forest of South western Pennsylvania, some 90 minutes from Pittsburgh, lies
Fallingwater a building where the landscape is more beautiful with it than without it.

How did the cantilevered concrete of Fallingwater relate to nature? Because of this at the nature and

once the basic element of concrete, steel and brick are recognised their nature is recognisable
because they may not be seen in the surrounding environment of Fallingwater but they create a

Dance Community
The dance community that surrounds me has been the most impactful in my life. My mother

later I am still dancing. I started out at a dance studio in Gresham, Oregon, where I then danced
for ten years. I took classes, performed, and started competing against other dancers and studios

Should We Celebrate Australia Day
Its January 26; what are you doing? Having a barbecue? Pool party? Down at the beach? While
everyone else in Australia is celebrating this day, that is called Australia Day, the original
custodians of our land are taking offence to the day we celebrate Australia Day on. Australia Day
should be about celebrating our wonderful country and having fun. Instead it is causing the
indigenous people to protest. We celebrate AustraliaDay on the 26 because it is the day a British
flag was placed on Australia. But why is that such an important day to celebrate? Many debates

Stereotypes Of Alienation
Musician Boyd Rice stated I never understood alienation. Alienation what? You have to be part
of something in order to feel alienated from it (World Famous Quotes). Rice s statement reveals
that humans are a part of certain cultures or societies yet feel as if they are not. On occasions,
individuals choose to be alienated from groups, but others are alienated against their will. Cultures
and societies both can give individuals a way to connect with one another but also can be a way of
segregating others. Society s stereotypes create a notion that everyone in a certain group should be
the same otherwise they are an outcast. Alienation can be beneficial to one s growth but also shows

What Is A Non-Traditional Family
With our rapid and perpetually changing society, we find that with time everything changes. Many
of these changes include: fashion, trends, communication, technology, and also family. It may
seem as if family does not have the ability to change, but recent studies suggest otherwise. A
family, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is a group of individuals living under one
roof and usually under one head. This definition still holds true today; however, the parameters
seem to be blurred due to rapid changes in our society. Since the mid 1900s researchers have been
seeing a trend in that our idea of a familyhas been changing. With recent events such as the
legalization of gay marriage, the term family seems to be evolving. Traditionally, a family is
associated with: a father, who is the bread winner; a mother, who is the the caretaker for the family;
and the children of the mother and father.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was raised in a nontraditional family, where my mother was everything due to her single parent
status, so I understand how the word family can be vague. Anything can be apart of one s family:
blood relatives, friends, and even pets. I, personally, think that family is defined as a group of
individuals who share some type of bond, allowing for intimate relationships. I think that family has
started to change since the 1970s, when the world began to see a shift in traditional family values,
and movements: feminism, and gay rights. Now when we think of family, the term house hold
often comes into play. I think that the main difference between the two is the relationships that are
made. A family is a more intimate relationship that involves love and nurturing, and a household

Trade Agreements Facilitate The Free Exchange Of Goods And...
Trade agreements facilitate the free exchange of goods and services between nation states, and
contribute to varying degrees to complete economic integration between two or more states.
Autarky refers to a non trading status, a phenomenon rarely seen in today s increasingly
integrated globe. The steps taken to fully integrate are referred to as stages, a categorization that
makes evident the variability in degree of integration. At the first stage, a preferential trade area
can be set up as a less formal means of encouraging trade by enacting preferential tariffs to target
specific countries exports (usually developing countries), in addition to other unilateral trade
benefits. Free trade areas are the next step up along the full... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

NAFTA The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is an agreement among Mexico,
Canada, and the United States that removes trade tariffs between the three members. Along with
the removal of tariffs, NAFTA created the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC),
which monitors the environmental impact of the agreement. NAFTA was signed on December
8, 1993 by the Clinton administration, and the agreement went into effect on January 1, 1994.
NAFTA has significantly increased trade between the three countries. This agreement has
increased exports for all countries, while making imports cheaper. For example, the US accounts
for 50% of Mexico s imports, and it accounts for 51% of Canada s imports. The effects of
NAFTA on the US economy were smaller than predicted, and its effect is hard to separate from
the general boom of the US economy during the 1990s and early 2000s. While many jobs were
created during this period, some critics argue that job creation and economic growth would have
been even greater without NAFTA. Many economists have done studies to quantify the welfare
effects of NAFTA on its member states. One 2015 study estimated the welfare effect of NAFTA
on its member states. It found a welfare increase of 1.31% in Mexico, an increase of 0.08% in the
US, and a welfare decrease of 0.06% in Canada. Although these effects are very modest, some
argue that NAFTA has had more pronounced effects on specific sectors of these countries

Pros And Cons Of Microfossil
There s a new digital map limning the composition of the seafloor, and it s shown evidence of
microfossil graveyards off the coast of Australia, in addition to other complex deep ocean
geology. The interactive map is actually available via the online journal Geology, published
August 9th. This marks a first at creating an extensive, comprehensive map in the past 40 years.
There hasn t been a single attempt at such a map since the 1970s, which the University of Sydney
has announced was drawn by hand. The old map suggests much of the Southern Ocean around
Australia is mainly covered by clay blown off the continent, whereas our map shows this area is
actually a complex patchwork of microfossil remains, said study author Adriana Dutkiewicz, a
sedimentologist at the University of Sydney in a statement. Life in the Southern Ocean is much
richer than previously thought. The microfossils discovered are actually from a type of
phytoplankton that takes in carbon dioxide and excretes oxygen. Known as diatoms, these
phyloplankton take roughly 20% of breathable oxygen in the air, air we need to breathe. When
they die, diatoms sink down to the dark musty abyssal of the oceans, dragging all the their carbon
with them. This process is referred to as carbon sink, and it helps prevent the... Show more content

How to Institutionalize Peace
Another major influence on the ability to institutionalize peace is the role of powerful national
individuals. Many people will follow an influential figure and do whatever they say if they
believe in what they are being told. This can be both good and bad depending on the situation. If
the leader has radical views and wants change, they will often resort to violence to get what is
desired. That is the worst case scenario because if peace is trying to be obtained, then fighting will
only make the situation worse. This is why major global powers such as the United Stateshave
overthrown important political leaders in other countries to help restore order to the country.
Larger, more powerful countries will often make decisions to intervene if they feel it is in the
best interest of the world or neighboring countries. If such great power is put into the wrong
hands, the consequences can be devastating. McNamara is a good example of a powerful figure
that had a terrific war mind, but wasn t the best when it came to making or keeping peace. The
Vietnam War was one that came with lots of controversy because of how costly it was. The war
lasted many years and resulted in the death of many American soldiers. McNamara felt that we
could win the war and continued to send troops into battle. This was not good for any hopes of
achieving peace because this did nothing but make the Vietnamese unhappy and less likely to want
to stop the war. Instead of trying to make peace

Depth of a story relies greatly on the author s unique way of conveying a tone. There are many
great examples of diction in any genre of literature, whether is be of someone s feelings, a

senses to the actions, the setting, and the mood of a story, thus enveloping the reader into it,
which is exemplified beautifully in The Scarlet Ibis, The Most Dangerous Game, and The

Police Use And Excessive Force
In most cases the police is permitted to use any form of necessary force to suppress a suspected
criminal with minimal consequences if they use excessive force ( Police Use Of Force ).
According to the current law all law enforcement officers should use only the amount of force
necessary to weaken an incident, make an arrest, and protect themselves and others from harm (
PoliceUse of Force ). Officers receive guidance from their individual agencies, but no universal

Police use of excessive force against the unarmed public should be illegal because it lowers the
amount of unnecessary deaths, reduces riots, and would decrease racism.

Compared to Traditional Reviews The reviews I read on the forum were less concerned with a
succinct, comprehensive overview of the book like one would expect in a professional review on a
site like Kirkus. Rather, they focused on an emotional attachment to the book as a reason to
review or recommend it to others. For example, in a discussion on Charlotte s Web, one
individual explains that she hated the book because she was forced to read it several times in
elementary school (evie, 2004). Although the opinions on the forum were hardly reviews in the
professional sense of the word, I was surprised that they so frequently included some sort of
visceral reaction to the book. Often there was little explanation concerning the particulars of the
story and the author chose to focus instead on the fact that a main character made them angry or
that the ending was unexpected or happy. It is difficult to determine which review has the greater
authority. If an individual were simply trying to discern whether the plot would be interesting, then
certainly a professional review would be more authoritative. However, the conversational reviews I
read between friends reminded me of the power of a personal opinion. While

Narcissism Among Teenagers s Song Of Narcissism
NARCISSISM AMONG TEENAGERS SHOFIA AMALIA RAHMA NATURE S SONG OF
NARCISSISM
In this 21 century as the technology and internet have developed time by time, many things are
happening. People are now can share any of their thoughts and idea on social media without filter.
One phenomenon that is popular nowadays is narcissism among teenagers. They express their
narcissistic through social media. It can take the simplest form as a status on Facebook or a photo,
but also the weirdest thing as obsession over followers on Instagram which we are going to see
further about it.
As far as I know, there is a myth in Greek about something that I want to talk about in this essay
that is narcissism. It began when a prominent figure named Narcissus fell in love with his own
reflection on the water and then he got curse. He fell in to the water and turned into a flower that
people named after him, Narcissus. This story symbolizes over selfishness for love to himself that
now happens to many people around the world. After so many years the word Narcissus has been
adopted into the term that today we all know Narcissism .
Some psychiatrists define narcissism as mental disorder. There are a lot of books that talk about
that, for the example is On Narcissism: An Introduction written by Sigmund Freud on 1914. For
me narcissism is not a mental disorder, because we all have the narcissistic in ourselves as human

Depending on the operational, business or legal requirements, the actions taken in this phase tend
to vary (Carrier, 2005). For instance, an investigator may be obliged by law to make a full copy of
the crime data. ii) Evidence Searching Phase: Once the data has been preserved, it is imperative to
locate the evidence. This step embodies searching for data that either refutes or supports the
hypothesis pertaining to the incident. Depending on the nature of the incident, some known
locations will be surveyed. For example, a case pertaining to Linux intrusion may prompt the
investigators to search for possibilities of a newly created user account or a rootkit. Most
importantly, investigators should focus on evidence that refutes rather than supporting the
hypothesis. iii) Event Reconstruction Phase: This is the final phase of the investigation. In this
phase, the investigators assemble the evidence acquired to ascertain the events that took place in
the system (Carrier, 2005).

History Of The Cylinder Engine
The first 4 Cylinder engine was introduced in 1902. ( History of the Deutz ). The Locomobile
company hired a young engineer. ( History of the Deutz ). He was a race car driver by the name
of Andrew Riker. ( History of the Deutz ). That must ve been a long time to make an engine back
in 1900 s. It must ve taken lots of research to create it. The Locomobile company wanted Andrew
Riker to create a car that would run on gasoline. ( History of the Deutz ) The Locomobile wanted
the car to be good enough to have the Locomobile name. ( History of the Deutz ) It must ve taken

The engine block houses and links all the engines components, such as the cylinders and pistons.
(How it s made engine block) That is cool because if you think about it when you open your car
hood you wouldn t be able to see the pistons. There are little passages in the engine block that
allow coolant to cycle around the engine block. (How it s made engine block) That is great so
that the engine block don t overheat when you are driving it around. The engine block it where
combustion converts into a mechanical energy, this helps drive the transmission propelling the car

pistons go down it sucks in fuel and then when it starts to go back up it starts to press it together

Atomic Bomb Necessary
Was it necessary to drop the atomic bombs on Japan? It was a heavily debated whether or not to
drop the atomic bomb on Japan, but not really cared considered by Americans. It is World War 2
Japan had lost many territories they had gained and was attacked by two atomic bombs without
warning. This topic was a major part of World War two that had major consequences on Japan. It
was not necessary to drop the atomic bomb on Japan because it killed innocent, Japan was on the
brink to surrendering, and there was other options to make japan surrender if they did not.
The atomic bombs that were dropped on Japan killed many innocent people. About 140,000 people
died because of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. About 80,000 more died from the 2nd atomic bomb

Japan was losing land they gained during World War 2 to the US and The Soviet Union begun to
invade Manchuria. No matter what Japan did not have very many options to keep fighting now
that the Soviet Union became involved and wanted to take away land from Japan as well. Most of
the Invasion from the US also weakened Japan s military. Due to the invasions from the US and
the Soviet Union Japan were ready to surrender because they could not afford to continue even if
they would not surrender the US had other options to make Japan surrender.
Lastly, The atomic bombs were not necessary because there were other options to make Japan
surrender. Admiral William Leahy believed that an economic blockade and conventional bombing
would make Japan surrender. There were other options to make Japan surrender, but not many were
taken on consideration because of Truman. There were other options to make Japan surrender but
Truman saw to use the atomic bomb to save American lives.
In conclusion the atomic bomb was not necessary because it killed innocent people, Japan would
ve eventually surrender without the use of atomic bombs and there were other options to make
Japan surrender. The use of the atomic bomb was a very important topic to learn of because of its
consequences. We today have learned a lot when the atomic bombs were dropped in

Adolescenes Fitting In or Standing Out
Is adolescence really about fitting in or not standing out? Do you have any responsibility to those
students who don t fit in? A major part of adolescence is whether you fit it or not. This major part
decides the majority of your friends and your understandings/feelings. It s not always a bad thing
to not fit in. You don t really have a responsibility to those who do not fit in. Sometimes, they
choose not to fit in. By all means, try to include them. Try not to make them feel like they don t
belong, but this doesn t always work. In the article Childhood BullyingCan Leave Lifelong Scars an
assistant clinical professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, William
Copeland, at Duke University in Durham, N.C. stated, If we could set up a culture in schools
where this isn t allowed to happen, then, I think there are a lot of these problems we can avoid
(Reinberg, 1). He s right the problems would be avoided, but it s impossible to completely eliminate
the bullying that makes someone feel like an outsider. Sometimes, bullying doesn t have to be
presented for someone to feel like this. At times, it s the music they enjoy or the style that they like
that causes the constant antagonization. Just being different could cause this feelingof not belonging.
Often times, people don t like something different so they will attack it. This attack could be
physical, but most times is emotional. There s always going to be that difference that someone may

Rape Abuse Incest National Network Case Study
Rape Abuse Incest National Network (RAINN) is an online based charity service that seeks to
provide treatment for victims of sexual abuse. Using the Discover, Identify, and Develop (DID)
model this paper will find evidence that the services provided are being done so ethically as well as
following the proper laws. The paper will then discuss two sample cases to see how the RAINN
approach would work for them.
Discover
In order to discover if the RAINN can actually offer competent services one must first determine
the mission of the agency. RAINN does not have a very clear mission statement. The website
attempts to cover all the services with an umbrella statement simply stating that each different
program tries to obviate sexual abuse, help

Richard III a Tyrant as King Essay
Richard III a Tyrant as King Throughout history, this very title has been disputed and the
outcome has remained debatable to this very day. Richard, Duke of York had remained loyal to
his brother, Edward IV throughout his years of reign, and had been well rewarded for his
support, he became the Duke of Gloucester. In marrying Anne Neville, daughter of Earl of
Warwick, he had inherited mass amounts of Neville land in the north of England after both the
Earl and Anne died. He was respected within the northern parts of England and provided land for
his friends. He was an able man who showed signs of being an efficient king amidst the
preoccupations of the rebellions, sadly he went about it the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The manner, in which Richard moved for authority, seems to put forward that he was the tyrant
of Shakespeare s play. He also professed that he had been informed, by a Bishop, of how Edward
had been betrothed to a woman by the name of Eleanor Boteles, before his marriage to Elizabeth
in 1464. This therefore proved the marriage was invalid and the children were bastards. There
was no evidence to contradict Richard, as both Edward and Eleanor were dead, she had died a
number of years before the story came out. With all other claimants to the throne dead, Richard
was the rightful heir. Richard s seizure of the throne could also be seen as ambitious, or overly
ambitious, and this cost him support. On becoming king, he had shared southern land between
his northern supporters, loosing all trust and loyalty from the south. When Richard arrived in
London he quickly on the spot killed Lord Hastings. He moved him to take out the support for
his nephew, Edward V, as Lord Hastings had been possibly Edward V biggest supporter. Richard
later said it was due to the fact that Hastings had been scheming himself to take the crown. But by
killing Hatings on the spot seems a dictatorial act with both this act and the manner that Richard
took the crown does not help to improve the view of Richard III. Richard had the two princes taken

Diversity In The Entertainment Industry
In a study of 414 films and television series, only 33 percent of all characters were women, and
only 28 percent were of racial minority status (Associated Press). Casting diversely in
entertainment has been an issue for years and has recently spawned many controversies such as
the 2016 Oscar Controversy where an outrage occurred due to a lack of minority Oscar winners.
Many cultures and races fell underrepresented and cast aside by filmand television. The
entertainment industry should cast more diverse actors because it increases viewership, provides a
broader perspective, and creates a more realistic setting. By casting more diverse actors, the
American entertainment industry is able to increase viewership in both television and film. To
begin with, diverse casting allows for higher television show ratings. For example,... Show more

To illustrate, shows like Black ish and Empire, with their predominantly African American casts,
would not be able to tell the unique stories being told with a cast of all Caucasian actors. Another
excellent show that uses diversity correctly is Master of None, a Netflix original series. Master
of None is a relationship comedy that takes place in New York City; Aziz Ansari, an Indian
American comedian, plays the lead, Dev. What makes this show noteworthy, however, is the fact
that unlike most television series, Dev is not an exaggerated stereotype. Lavanya Ramanathan, a
reporter for the Washington Post, said it best when she stated, What s extraordinary about Master
of None is that its protagonist is a person of color who s simply, normal (Ramanathan). He is able
to provide a new perspective, but at the same time he does not make himself seem unrelatable;
furthermore, the show addresses this topic by reminding the audience that viewers are able to relate
to anthropomorphic animals; thus, the audience surely can relate to people of

person will admit is that the hiking on the Machu Picchu trail is among the treasured wonders of
the world. The thing that so many Americans are worried about is safety. There is this giant
misconception about what the country of Peru is like. While the notion of the third world is

The people of Peru are the kindest and heart warming people on the planet. In my journeys across
the globe, I have never encountered a population nor a culture that did as much to welcome into
their world. I think that the most important thing for me as a traveller is to connect with and to
understand the people of the places that I travel too. The easiest place that I have found to obtain
that connection has been in Peru. Another thing that many Americans talk about is that they are
unsure about the ease of travel in Peru. There seems to be a concern about finding guides and
navigating successfully. The simple answer to that question is that there are numerous outfitters
that specialize in taking Americans across the country and trekking in all of the most beautiful
spots. Obviously Machu Picchu will be on every first time visitor s list. But there are numerous
other attractions that make trekking Peru a world class destination. The Inca site of Choquequirao
can be trekked into by way of a 5 day hike that includes a five thousand feet elevation gain. Another
world famous trek is the dramatic Colca Canyon, which is famous for its condors. The Andes are

How To Replace A Roof
Addressing roof problems
Tips on how to determine whether it is best to repair damage or replace entire roof
When it comes to doing home improvements, homeowners have to make good decisions in order to
meet with success without injuring themselves or messing up their homes. This is especially true
for a job that involves doing something to the roof. Whether the job is repairing damaged areas or
installing a new roof, hiring an Austin roofing professional is one of the best decisions that
homeowners can make, and that is because such a professional will have the necessary skills to
complete all the work safely and efficiently. Furthermore, homeowners will have less pressure on
their shoulders and more time to devote to other important matters. ... Show more content on

The only downside is that the new shingles may not match the ones already on the roof, but that
matters little if the goal is to shore up the roof so that it will last for years to come. If
homeowners are looking to put their homes on the market, then perhaps the best course of action is
to have a professional contractor order the right type of shingles for the patch job. Potential buyers
tend to zero in on the condition of homes, looking for anything that is out of place.
If the damage happens to be so extensive that a patch job would not be enough, then homeowners
ought to let a professional contractor install a new roof. This option, depending on the size of the
home, will be rather costly, but it goes without saying that putting in a new roof will prove
worthwhile in the long run as there many benefits to

The International Trade Agreement With Costa Rica,...
Introduction On August 2004, the United States signed the Central America Free Trade Agreement
with Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic.
CAFTA is the first free trade agreement of its kind given that it is between the United States and
smaller developing countries. The agreement encourages economic cooperation among these
nations resulting in a stronger regional integration and contributing to greater stability. Beginning
with a brief overview about the history of CAFTA, in this paper I will discuss the main issues
being debated on CAFTA and analyze the effect it will have on US industries, specifically on sugar,
textiles, and agriculture, as well as the benefits to the Central American countries involved in the
agreement. CAFTA Historically, the United States has established free trade agreements with each
of the countries in the agreement. These agreements, as well as CAFTA, are currently active. The
US government policy had originally granted these countries relative open access to US markets, as
well as protection of their own markets with the use of tariffs and other trade barriers. These were
implemented specifically to restrict US access to their markets. Then, CAFTA changed the trend by
eliminating tariffs, opening markets, reducing barriers to goods and services, and promoting
transparency through regulatory practices, while supporting environmental protections (7).
Moreover, it promotes investment between these

Great Prosperity and Growth in America s 1920 s
The 1920 s in America was a time of great prosperity and growth. Industries were booming, cities
were growing, and people were changing. Americans were forgetting the old traditions and values
that they used to live by. Americans were viewing and following new entertainments. Sports were
one of these entertainments. Amateur and professional athlete s performance in their own sport
was key to the growth of athletics in the 1920 s, because they changed the American attitude
towards sports, created legends, and increased popularity. The culture in the 1920 s was full of
prosperity throughout America. WWII had concluded and people were glad it was over. Americans
lived for the moment and forgot about the past. Industries were growing with the great expansion of
the economy. Across the country, new stadiums were being constructed. College and professional
team were building new athletic facilities. Stanford, Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan, Alabama,
Washington State, Missouri, Purdue and Texas A M were some of the colleges that got stadiums
built. These stadiums were bigger than older stadiums and they had more seats for fans. Americans
had more time on their hands during the 1920 s. People were participating and watching sports like
never before. Sports had become a much popular activity during this time. With this growth,
businesses such as the radio and newspaper business grew. Radio and newspaper companies wanted

computing, as we know it, is facing a dimensional shift with the widespread diffusion of the

where employees are bringing their own personal mobile devices. Some of these devices include

Lastly, execution of the BYOD policy should provide an implementation that coincides with the
needs of the other key issues. III. Models and Frameworks. Models and frameworks provide the
ability to analyze, a structured set of essential components of an object for which clear
expressions is necessary and perhaps even mandatory for creating, operating, and changing the
object (Zachman, 2008). The object is the enterprise and the ability to implement any new
business policy requires structure from models and frameworks. The models and frameworks that
relate to providing structure in implementing BYOD are the Zachman Framework, Rogers
Diffusion of Innovation Theory, Risk IT framework and Val IT Framework. The Zachman
Framework is the foundation for architecture of any kind and enterprises that are growing in
complexity can be represented with the Zachman Framework. With bring your own device the

Analysis Of The Opposite Of Loneliness By Marina Keegan
Over the summer, I had the opportunity to read. A lot. When assigned to write this letter, I
continued that trend by searching for relevant events you have been a part of, so I could
connect my findings to the books I read. Evidently, from this lackluster introduction, I was
unsuccessful in that pursuit. It s not that I don t have anything to say about the work you do, it s
just that I don t think I m qualified to tell you how to run a country, in particular, through the
implied euphemisms of a book that you probably studied in your universities literature class.
However, this is not to say I haven t learned anything from my reading, in fact, there is one
specific book have made a point of reading and re reading every few months. It s titled The
Opposite of Loneliness, written by a young woman named Marina Keegan. Marina aspired to be
a journalist before she died in a car accident only a few days after her Commencement from Yale.
It s not necessarily the actual book that has lyrical meaning, but it is the story behind the book.
She is the greatest writer I have ever read. Seriously. Ever since I picked The Opposite... Show more

Kids are stuck with massive student loans because they can take anything they wish including

Meanwhile, Alberta and Saskatchewan and mining regions are begging for welders, laborers,

having inappropriately educated kids in the major cities and jobs that only foreigners can fill in
other parts of Canada is partially a product of our education system. It costs us, in the simplest

Comparing Articles on the September 11th Attack in Two...
In this essay I will analyse and compare a broadsheet and a tabloid newspaper article. I hope to
be able to find differences and similarities in both articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is
more of a gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The
article I have chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will
concentrate on looking at the language used and the descriptive element of the scene. This is very
important because both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to

The article tries to hit the reader emotionally in as many ways as possible. It does this by telling
the reader about families who lost loved ones and how they reacted. To put across the impact of
devastation, the writer writes about people who would not normally be associated with normal
people. The writer uses words like solemnly to describe the actions and feelings of famous
people, such as Sir Rudy Guiliani and Robert de Niro. Tabloids have always been known for the
use of lots of pictures and this article is no exception. The use of pictures helps to stress the grief
of the people there. The placement of the pictures is also important. There is an image of a
policeman knelling and weeping over a fallen colleague. This picture is to show that someone
who keeps law and order and is not just a tough man . But just like us and can be broken down to
tears. A child kneeling and crying, probably over the death of a parent, echoes this picture of the
policeman. To get a big emotional response the picture of the child was put in because it is

  • 2. Similarities Between A Crab Spider And An Elephant A generalist and a specialist, they may seem like complete opposites but are they? A generalist can survive in a myriad of conditions oppose to a specialist, they can only thrive when certain requirements are reached. Although a generalist appears to be entirely different from a specialist they still both have similarities. This can be shown by the comparison of a Crab Spider and an Elephant. A Crab Spider and an Elephant have a lot of sharp distinctions between each other but they also have many similarities. One instant where this is the manifestation is how their behaviour is in the presence of humans. Both an Elephant and a Crab Spider will not attack an individual unless they provoke the species. • 3. Ben Mezrich s Bringing Down The House Micky Rosa In Ben Mezrich s book, Bringing Down the House, one of the major characters, Micky Rosa comes into the story and is described as an inspiring, intelligent man. His role in this book stood out to me as being one of the most important and exciting characters. Micky is a small, forty year old man, who started the blackjack team at MIT. His presence automatically contributes to the successes of all members of the blackjack team. He has character traits that positively influence each and every player. Micky Rosa is seen as a positive, inspiring figure toward the blackjack team because of his intelligence, persistence, and passion. However Micky was kicked off the team and still carried on his legacy of inspiring card counters. Micky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He therefore went on the teach at MIT to students that wanted to learn about card counting. He started to fund this team and he was able to make money even though he never stepped foot in the casino. The team was prosperous and profitable for quite a while, but one day decided that Micky was no longer contributing. The members of this team kicked him off shortly after, when they believed he wasn t providing any more benefit to the team. They thought he was taking away profit from them without helping them out. Micky s passion towards the game of blackjack is crazy. It shows when he is kicked off of the team and then still continued to have a blackjack team of his own. He found new players and taught a new set of inexperienced players. He didn t want to give up the game. His respect for this team also was revealed when the team told him the news. He took the news fairly well and listened carefully to what Fisher and Martinez had to say. He didn t yell or get mad at them for the decision they had made, he just respected their decision and went along with his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Motifs Motifs are essential to any work of literature as they help establish an overarching theme. Arthur Miller s play All My Sons contains various motifs concealed within the story of a businessman who made a mistake that costed the lives of 21 pilots. The author includes the motif of intelligence throughout the play to prove that some people know more than they let on. Though Ann seems like a kind hearted innocent young woman she is capable of scheming in order to get what she wants. When she is first introduced the stage directions read (...) gentle but despite herself capable of holding fast to what she knows (23). Ann s acquisition is Chris, she will use whatever she can whether it be plotting or enticement to get him. Her reason for visiting the Keller household after several years is questioned by Kate when she says Nobody comes seven hundred miles just to see (21). Though both Chris and Ann make it out to seem they just want to see each other again on friendly terms Chris invited her over with the intention of proposing to her. Ann is aware of this and wishes for Chris to propose to her as well because she loves him. This is evident as she goes a long distance to see him, during a time where it is *complicated and expensive to travel. In her first appearance to the reader Ann is wearing an expensive dress No kidding, now, isn t she the prettiest gal you ever saw? (24). Miller limns the dress as stunning and extravagant, this is quite reminiscent of a description of a wedding dress. The dress is a symbol for marriage and allurement as Ann wore it with the intention of gaining Chris s attention in hopes he will ask her to marry him. When Jim is introduced to Ann for the first time he says She looks very intelligent! (24). Though he is implying that she is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ele Wiesel Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech January 30, 1933 forever marks the beginning of the Holocaust, one of the most horrifying and cruel events in the history of the world. It was the mass genocide of millions of innocent jews, gays, Jehovah Witnesses, gypsies, and countless others. After the Holocaust, it is clear to society that we, as people, cannot stand by and watch as other human beings suffer from cruel acts in which they have no ability to defend themselves. In modern day, it seems as though ethnic cleansing is becoming less common, however, there are still many instances of it occurring around the world. In fact, the country of Myanmar is currently attempting to deprive its Rohingya citizens of their basic rights and exterminate them from the population. There were many things to be learned from the Holocaust, one of the most important including apathy toward discrimination and ethnic cleansing. In Elie Wiesel s Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech about his experienced imprisonment in concentration camps, he explained that people must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented . According to Wiesel, someone who stands by and does nothing while another person suffers is just as guilty as the offender. Additionally, he states in his speech The Perils of Indifference that, Indifference reduces the other to an abstraction . A lack of compassion toward the victims of cruel treatment shows that they are of no concern. Prisoners ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Deviance In Psychology Entry 7 Drugs were not acceptable for cool girls. Drugs however, were acceptable and even encouraged for boys. I know one female who smoked pot, all the other cool females ostracized her, called her a druggie . I know one guy who refused to try pot, and the cool guys called him a wuss (that means wimp), and didn t ask him out to party anymore (pg 145). The limit of what is socially acceptable for each gender to participate in seems to not exist for males, however for females, reaching this point does not require much deviance. Deviance is defined as any violation of norms. It is clear that the use of drugs is very gender specific, and if identify as other than a male, informal sanctions are certain to occur from peers and parents. On ... The difference between locations is referred to as cultural variation. This term relates to behaviors such as ethnocentric attitudes, xenocentrism, and cultural relativism among others. The sight of the seemingly countless designer possessions most peers owned in the same state where she resides showed how drastically different two cultures can be within a distance of a few miles. Her shock was the product of being exposed to two opposing cultures in a state she previously believed was culturally very similar throughout. As a toddler, I made a similar move from the city of Chicago to Deerfield, and while I have no memory of the cultural transition, upon inquiring my parents, the differences were vaguely similar to the specific one s the girl in the passage noticed. Reasoning for as to why the girl felt more poor within the suburbs as compared to the city can be explained by relative poverty. This means what is considered to be the poverty line or poor in one area may differ from the poverty line within another area. Essentially, the area one lives is is generally relative to resources accessible to them, which is relative to their social class/stratification. While the family of the girl may have been a middle or upper middle class family within the city, her social class significantly dropped once ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Relationship Between Aaron Burr And Alexander Hamilton Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton had quite a difficult relationship. There were many instances where the two were greatly opposing each other. Due to these instances and others in which Burr had felt completely insulted by Hamilton, Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel in Weehawken, New Jersey. At the Duel, Burr shot Hamilton in the stomach. Hamilton died the next day. Burr was never charged for the murder of Hamilton, but some still consider Burr completely unjust in his actions of challenging and killing Hamilton. A man challenging another to a duel was not an uncommon event in Colonial America from the 17th to the 19th century. Duels were only legal in certain areas and they had a strict set of rules outlined by the Code Duello of 1777. In a duel, the men would meet along with their representatives, or seconds, to decide on a weapon, which could include either a sword or a gun. Then, the group decided on the distance of where they began. The man who was challenged was allowed to fire his weapon at the other first, and then the man who initiated the duel was allowed to fire. Most often the intention of a duel was not to kill a man, but to restore dignity after an insult; therefore, the participants often purposely missed. One of the most famous of these duels was the one between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton. Alexander Hamilton was born in Nevis, an island in the West Indies. It also explains the conceptual framework and conceptual map of the study.. 2.1 Concept of Women Entrepreneur Women or a group of women who initiate, organize and operates a business enterprise is defined as Women Entrepreneurs . The Government of India has defined women entrepreneurs as an enterprise owned and controlled by women having a minimum financial interest of 51 per cent of the capital and giving at least 51 per cent of the employment generated in the enterprise to women. Women Entrepreneur is a person who accepts challenging role to meet her personal needs and become economically independent (Meenu Goyal and Jai Prakash, 2011, pp. [Gibve the page number.]). In India, these entrepreneurs are part of the larger sustainable development strategy employed by the policymakers. Evidence shows that Women entrepreneurship has already contributed to the economic growth across the world and women led enterprises are increasing in every country. These enterprises also created a large number of job opportunities in their respective economies. Apart from this, these enterprises also created new business solutions for the pressing social problems.Further in whole enterprises scenario, number of enterprises owned by women is very less compared to men. However, what a saddening amount of people are unaware of is how the Germans (Nazis) subjugated millions of these victims to disturbing experiments, grizzly deaths, and consistent mental and physical torture. • 10. Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart Are men always supposed to be represented as superior and tough? The novel, Things Fall Apart is about the tragic fall of the Ibo culture and main character Okonkwo. Reason why things fall apart is due to the men within the Ibo culture converting to a new religion. Chinua Achebe shows that men in the Ibo culture are expected to be superior, successful, and strong. Okonkwo is one man who embodies all the traits of a successful man. Achebe also shows how unsuccessful men of the Ibo culture led to things falling apart. The novel shows this with multiple events that happened in the the book for example when Okonkwo the main character becomes successful by beating Amalinze the Cat in a wrestling match and much more. For example, Okonkwo has two farms and in order to keep a farm in good shape, multiple tasks have to be done. The numerous tasks are: feeding livestock, harvesting yams, and cleaning. Another example is when Agbala is telling Unoka, When your neighbors go out with their axe to cut down virgin forests. They cross seven rivers to make their farms (17). Agbala tells Unoka this because Unoka is an example of a unsuccessful man. Unoka has a farm but the farm is so bad it doesn t even require hard labor.Agbala mentions other hard working men so Unoka can probably motivated. The hard labor men do represents them as being hard workers. Thus why men are represented as hard workers. How men are represented as successful is due to their fame, titles, and amount of farms they have. • 18. The Culture Of The Word Culture There are many laity use of the word culture that gets thrown around in day to day conversation amongst our peers. Culture is used to define certain aspects of our lives and how we live on a daily basis. There are some that believe that they do not possess a culture. There are others who feel that we all live our own individual unique culturein our lives. However, being that culture is such a broad subject, the only way to define it is to operationalize its context and attempt to try and understand it based on a universal definition. Sergiovanni and Corbally s (1986) definition of culture includes a system of values, symbols, and shared meanings in a group that includes embodying these values, symbols, and shared meanings in ritualize practice. Using this particular definition of culture, the small island of Okinawa is enriched with it. Their way of day to day lifestyle, geographical terrain, as well as their militaryhistory can all be analyzed through their culture as well as provide information in terms of our current military jargon for the benefit of the United States Army. Culturally, Okinawans separate themselves from the association of the Japanese culture, even though they are still considered a territory of Japan. The differences in their landscape, their way of life, language, and even their societal infrastructure are the basis of their adamant separation from Japan. One Of The Most Significant Characteristics Of Tantra One of the most significant characteristics of TANTRA (origin 5th century CE) is the fact that it does not require the ordinary householder to renounce the world by giving up our body, our family, our material possessions, our job, even our pleasures. Instead it accentuates personal experimentation and experience as a way to improve/advance on the path of Self realization without having to become a monk or swami. It is through this precious human life and birth that we can free ourselves from ignorance and see how things really exist. From Sanskrit: TAN = To expand, TRA= tool, instrument. TANTRA can be seen as a technology or tool for expansion of consciousness and alertness. TANTRA does not reject our objects of attachment or life conditions, but transforms how we relate to them. This is what makes this practice so compelling today. For example, our inner attitude towards money doesn t have anything to do with the money we have. Under TANTRA s view, there is nothing wrong about having money or enjoying life, or being tall/short, or fat/thin, or being married /single, or being employed/unemployed.., but whatever the circumstances, the attitude should be of detachment and equanimity, then a sense of freedom arises. So the world and our conditions become an ally instead of a hindrance in our spiritual development. In TANTRA there are two realities; SHIVA and SHAKTI, SHIVA representing the total matter or the absolute and SHAKTI representing the total energy or creative power. In TANTRA all reality can be divided on what we can see (visvamaya) and what is beyond (visvottirna). To experience the ultimate reality we need to dissolve the notion of duality in our consciousness. We need to become one from two. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This particular lesson I felt was extremely applicable to both my future as a military officer and my current life at the academy. This reading focuses on conflict among members in an organization. The reading describes common issues that lead to unhealthy conflict and how to avoid those issues. Conflict is seen as a good thing in organizations as it creates a more complete understanding of the choices, it creates a better range or options, and ultimately allows for effective decisions making. However, it needs to be effectively managed to have a successful organization. Conflictcan sometimes turn unproductive, as comments can be interpreted as personal attacks. The reading offers six tactics for managing interpersonal conflict. Of these six, I see the idea of focus on the facts as the most important. This tactic states that the more information that one can provide to a situation, the less likely conflicting viewpoints will be seen as personal attacks. This is especially true when data is objective and up to date, as numbers do not lie and they are hard to argue. I see this often at the academy when discussing possible changes in policy. Especially in situations that involve many cadets. Often, discussions are very opinion based with little factual information because cadets often do not have access to it. Because of this, these discussions often become a pointless debate. I could make the assumption that this happens in an operational Air Force setting as well. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A family, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head. This definition still holds true today; however, the parameters seem to be blurred due to rapid changes in our society. NAFTA The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is an agreement among Mexico, Canada, and the United States that removes trade tariffs between the three members. Along with the removal of tariffs, NAFTA created the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), which monitors the environmental impact of the agreement. NAFTA was signed on December 8, 1993 by the Clinton administration, and the agreement went into effect on January 1, 1994. NAFTA has significantly increased trade between the three countries. This agreement has increased exports for all countries, while making imports cheaper. For example, the US accounts for 50% of Mexico s imports, and it accounts for 51% of Canada s imports. The effects of NAFTA on the US economy were smaller than predicted, and its effect is hard to separate from the general boom of the US economy during the 1990s and early 2000s. While many jobs were created during this period, some critics argue that job creation and economic growth would have been even greater without NAFTA. Many economists have done studies to quantify the welfare effects of NAFTA on its member states. One 2015 study estimated the welfare effect of NAFTA on its member states. It found a welfare increase of 1.31% in Mexico, an increase of 0.08% in the US, and a welfare decrease of 0.06% in Canada. Life in the Southern Ocean is much richer than previously thought. The microfossils discovered are actually from a type of phytoplankton that takes in carbon dioxide and excretes oxygen. Known as diatoms, these phyloplankton take roughly 20% of breathable oxygen in the air, air we need to breathe. • 33. How to Institutionalize Peace Another major influence on the ability to institutionalize peace is the role of powerful national individuals. Many people will follow an influential figure and do whatever they say if they believe in what they are being told. This can be both good and bad depending on the situation. If the leader has radical views and wants change, they will often resort to violence to get what is desired. That is the worst case scenario because if peace is trying to be obtained, then fighting will only make the situation worse. This is why major global powers such as the United Stateshave overthrown important political leaders in other countries to help restore order to the country. Larger, more powerful countries will often make decisions to intervene if they feel it is in the best interest of the world or neighboring countries. If such great power is put into the wrong hands, the consequences can be devastating. McNamara is a good example of a powerful figure that had a terrific war mind, but wasn t the best when it came to making or keeping peace. The Vietnam War was one that came with lots of controversy because of how costly it was. The war lasted many years and resulted in the death of many American soldiers. Narcissism Among Teenagers s Song Of Narcissism NARCISSISM AMONG TEENAGERS SHOFIA AMALIA RAHMA NATURE S SONG OF NARCISSISM In this 21 century as the technology and internet have developed time by time, many things are happening. People are now can share any of their thoughts and idea on social media without filter. One phenomenon that is popular nowadays is narcissism among teenagers. They express their narcissistic through social media. It can take the simplest form as a status on Facebook or a photo, but also the weirdest thing as obsession over followers on Instagram which we are going to see further about it. As far as I know, there is a myth in Greek about something that I want to talk about in this essay that is narcissism. It began when a prominent figure named Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection on the water and then he got curse. He fell in to the water and turned into a flower that people named after him, Narcissus. This story symbolizes over selfishness for love to himself that now happens to many people around the world. After so many years the word Narcissus has been adopted into the term that today we all know Narcissism . Some psychiatrists define narcissism as mental disorder. There are a lot of books that talk about that, for the example is On Narcissism: An Introduction written by Sigmund Freud on 1914. For me narcissism is not a mental disorder, because we all have the narcissistic in ourselves as human nature. Perhaps we just do not know how to express it wisely in a ... In marrying Anne Neville, daughter of Earl of Warwick, he had inherited mass amounts of Neville land in the north of England after both the Earl and Anne died. He also professed that he had been informed, by a Bishop, of how Edward had been betrothed to a woman by the name of Eleanor Boteles, before his marriage to Elizabeth in 1464. This therefore proved the marriage was invalid and the children were bastards. There was no evidence to contradict Richard, as both Edward and Eleanor were dead, she had died a number of years before the story came out. With all other claimants to the throne dead, Richard was the rightful heir. Richard s seizure of the throne could also be seen as ambitious, or overly ambitious, and this cost him support. On becoming king, he had shared southern land between his northern supporters, loosing all trust and loyalty from the south. When Richard arrived in London he quickly on the spot killed Lord Hastings. The US government policy had originally granted these countries relative open access to US markets, as well as protection of their own markets with the use of tariffs and other trade barriers.
