the Sumatra Island. The earthquake took place 6.2 miles under the water. The earthquake had a
high magnitude of 9.0 on a Richter scale which triggered a massive tsunami. Tsunamis are specific
in their origins and result from larger earthquakes. The tsunami that was caused by an earthquake
had an impact on many people and caused a lot of destruction that had to be fixed. A few minutes

While reading through chapter eleven of my psychology textbook, I discovered that the four
main theoretical approaches to personality include the psychodymanic approach, the triat

being. After the conclusion of the personality test, the test described myslef as being a people
person, an open person, and a generally positive person. The test also depicted my weakness as

The student that I have been working with over the past six weeks is Brad Concordia. Brad
attends Shiloh Hills Elementary School in the rural area of the Wilson School District. Brad is
a first grade student in Mrs. Detwiler s classroom who suffers from brain damage and
unfortunately he s dealt with it since he was born. Brad is an energetic, positive kid who loves
to tell stories and talk about PokГ©mon. He does not act up in class and he tends to be very
polite and well behaved. Whenever the teacher gives him an activity to do he tries his very best to
accomplish it without the help of an aid, but most times he is left with no choice due to his

A couple of Brad s strengths include being able to count dots 1 34 without any issues, and he is

James Mercer Langston Hughes was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and
columnist from Joplin, Missouri. Hughes is best known for his involvement in the Harlem

editor of the Paris Review hes is known for his 1974 postmodernism poem Watermelons. Using
the two poets along with Allen Ginsberg s 1955 poem Supermarket in California I will compare
and contrast the figurative language, poetic devices, and subject material used in each poems.
In Hughes poem Harlem a series of similes are used in the poem to compare a dream deferred to
rotting, aging or burdensome items. A dream deferred is compared to a raisin, a sore, rotten
meat, a syrupy sweet, and a heavy load. The actions linked to these items suggest what might
happen to the dream, such as rotting and dying or weighing down the conscience of the people.
The poem ends with a single metaphor with the line Or does it explode? (Hughes 10). The text is
also italicized to emphasize this metaphor even more. Harlem is a lyric poem with irregular rhyme

In the 70 s before there was much technology to help and crack down these major dealers, the police

These cases always have to be dealt with patience. Buddy and Popeye tail a Lincoln that

The Chimney Sweepers By William Blake
The Chimney Sweepers
William Blake has written two poems with the same title of Chimney Sweeper, however each
poem was written to portray a different perspective of similar situations. The poem Chimney
Sweep (Songs of Experience) is written in a bleaker scope compared to Chimney Sweep (Songs of
Innocence) which happens to be much more optimistic.Willaim Blake had written these stories as
foils of one another and which has helped readers compare and contrast the messages that the
poems are trying to illustrate.
In the Chimney Sweeper (Song of Experience), William Blake tells the story of a young chimney
sweeper who was sold into his profession. When the boy is asked about his parents he replies that
They are both gone up to the church to pray , meaning they are around to look after the child.
The little boy continues on explaining how he deceives his parents so they may think that he is
happy, however the truth is that he knows he is in a profession that he will mostly die from and
is unhappy because of it. The little boy finishes off the conversion stating that his parents are gone
to praise God and his Priest and King, Who make up a heaven of our misery . The little boy
basically damns god and societies highers up for putting him in the position that he is in.
The poem Chimney Sweeper (Song of Experience), is a story that portrays how life can
