Although the eye contact the model has with the camera is good for our front cover it isn’t taken from a very flattering angle and does not present our model as the ‘sex symbol’ we would like to portray him as. In addition the height of the camera shows the top of the backdrop which isn’t professional, however we could cut it out.
- 3. The composition of the photo does not follow a conventional magazine cover as the model is not in the middle of the shot and constricts space for text. As well as the angle of the photo it does not make the model look as attractive as he should.
- 4. The composition of this photo works well for a magazine cover as the model is central in the shot and allows space for text and puffs, however his pose makes him look quite intimidating – in contrast to the ‘cheeky chappy’ gentleman that we want to portray. There is also too much of his body on show and we would like to focus more on his face and emotions.
- 5. Again this angle is not conventional of a movie magazine cover due to the model posing to the right. The top of our model’s head and ear is cut off which does not look very good as we want the top of his to slightly cover the title and stand out as we are advertising the actor, (a convention of movie magazines). In addition his pose is quite powerful and ‘James Bond’ like which does not suit our romance/drama genre.

This photo was highly considered to be used for our front cover however the top of the backdrop is showing – although our biggest concern was that the actor’s light hearted personality was being portrayed. In this photo it reflects the character’s emotions rather than the actor’s – which we are trying to promote.
